Continuing the trajectory set by last year's EPs and experimental long-player, Reeko returns to Samurai Music to deliver an expansive album that goes further into his experimental practice at the intersection of deep techno, drum & bass and electronica.

Since the early 00s Juan Rico has been applying his exacting vision to the deeper end of dance music culture. As Reeko, he's carved out an imposing presence in the modern techno scene by building up the steely, hard-hitting sound of Mental Disorder while also contributing to scene-leading labels like Modularz, Semantica and Delsin. With a trio of releases through 2024 for Samurai Music, the Spanish producer demonstrated the wider scope of his craft as he opened up to broken rhythms, spacious arrangements and a wholly diferent dimension to his music-making.

Während seines Aufenthalts in Berlin verriet Jim Anika, dass der einzige bereits existierende Track im Film ,Spooky" von Dusty Springfield sein würde. Anika, die eine Live-Version davon gespielt hatte, schlug vor, dass sie ihn covern sollten. Die reduzierte Version, die sie nur mit Gesang, Kontrabass, Fingerschnipsen und einem verzerrten Orgelriff kreierten, wurde als Song für den Abspann des Films ausgewählt. Nach ihrer Rückkehr nach New York formte Jim diese Aufnahmen zu kurzen, stimmungsvollen Instrumentalstücken, die zur Filmmusik wurden. Die letzten Feinheiten wurden während eines gemeinsamen Aufenthalts von Jim und Anika in Paris im Centre Pompidou fertiggestellt. Die Musik für ,Father Mother Sister Brother" ist eine experimentelle, kollaborative Klanglandschaft, die nicht darauf ausgelegt ist, sich um eine einzelne Figur zu drehen oder diese zu definieren. Old-time and traditional music stay exciting for their contrasts. Exacting instrumentation honed through mentorships and late-night jams at fiddler's conventions tangles with a community-sourced inventiveness that influences variants and new sounds. Joseph Decosimo is a master of this genre for this very reason, blending deep technique with an openness and curiosity that keep his music crackling with life. A "marvelous fiddler" (No Depression) and banjo player who braids "exultation and veneration" (INDY Week) into his music, on his third solo album Fiery Gizzard Decosimo gathers a close-knit ensemble of friends from his musical career to infuse his interpretations of fiddle and banjo pieces with a contagious communal joy. As an artist working with traditional music from the South and Appalachia, Decosimo chooses songs based not only on historical significance and lineage but also his own sensory approach. For Fiery Gizzard, his ear was tuned to otherworldly tones and mystery, sourcing from field recordings such as Virginia fiddler Luther Davis' hypnotic version of "Shady Grove" while amping up the music's psychedelic potential. On the middle Tennessee banjo composition "Flowery Girls," a VHS of bluesman Abner Jay inspired Decosimo to rig up a pickup inside a fretless banjo and play it thr ough a tube amp to capture some of Jay's edge and funkiness. But to round out the sound and keep it kinetic meant galvanizing a genre-eschewing crew to jam out - and not in a "spaced-out drooly" kind of way, he laughs, but as a sort of "responsive conversation." Decosimo has always been a community-minded artist. He began playing as a seventh graderin Tennessee, fostering relationships with older players at jams and in homes, a learning mode natural to his inquisitive nature and desire for musical connection. A folklorist by intuition, he later became one by profession, studying with old-time legend Clyde Davenport, teaching in East Tennessee State University's renowned bluegrass program, and receiving his PhD at the University of North Carolina with a dissertation titled "Catching the `Wild Note': Listening, Learning, and Connoisseurship in Old-Time Music." In North Carolina, Decosimo kicked about in the verdant environment of Durham and Chapel Hill's folk and indie scenes, collaborating with artists including Alice Gerrard, Hiss Golden Messenger, and Jake Xerxes Fussell. This community has influenced his own music, including his "sublime and strangely heartening" (Bandcamp Daily) 2022 release While You Were Slumbering and Beehive Cathedral, Decosimo's 2024 "Appalachian mountain music treasury" (New Commute) trio album with Luke Richardson and Cleek Schrey for Dear Life Records. Continuing on this path, Fiery Gizzard is home base for a loose outfit of mostly Tarheel-based musicians from within and beyond traditional music. Inspired by a tour with fiddler Stephanie Coleman (Nora Brown), guitarist Jay Hammond, and synth builder and multi-instrumentalist Matthew O'Connell, Decosimo assembled studiomates based on close friendships and comfort. Coleman, O'Connell, and Hammond contribute to Fiery Gizzard, along with bassist and producer Andy Stack (Helado Negro, Wye Oak), horn player Kelly Pratt (Beirut, David Byrne), Mipso and Fust's Libby Rodenbough, Joseph O'Connell (Elephant Micah), and trad/experimental artist Cleek Schrey. Decosimo's fiddle and banjo work is virtuosic, intricate and simple simultaneously, a testament to his many years of study. On some tracks, his playing or lovely, plain-hearted singing is the centerpiece, such as on his interpretations of Texan street preacher Washington Phillips' 1929 recording "I Had a Good Father and Mother" or the Eastern Kentucky fiddle barn-burner "Glory in the Meetinghouse," famously played by Luther Strong for Alan Lomax. But there's also a trusting open-door policy, like where Southern Appalachian tune "Ida Red" relaxes into Coleman's sweet, confident fiddling and Hammond's loping guitar. As a bandleader, Decosimo's confidence and enthusiasm for the music reveal the heart of traditional music and how it can come to life through community. Fiery Gizzard is Joseph Decosimo as a powerful champion of traditional music - a sponge who soaks up as much as he squeezes out, a responsive artist who makes his genre accessible, and a magnet who can bring musicians of all sorts into his orbit with his same passion.

Pelican has always been a band that's not just from Chicago, but distinctly of Chicago. Formed in 2000 by guitarists Trevor Shelley de Brauw and Laurent Schroeder-Lebec alongside brothers Bryan and Larry Herweg on bass and drums respectively, Pelican's foundation was built upon the rule-free, genre-agnostic scene synonymous with the Fireside Bowl. "The `90s in Chicago was a free-for-all. Everyone was just coming from a place of pure creativity," says Shelley de Brauw. With Schroeder-Lebec returning to the band following Dallas Thomas' exit in 2022, this reunified version of Pelican allowed the band to tap back into those influences and build something distinctly new with Flickering Resonance. While longtime Pelican fans will find an updated version of the band's ethos_one that's been constantly evolving since their very first EP_their new partnership with Run For Cover Records emphasizes something that's always been implicit to the Pelican formula. These songs take as much inspiration from titanic `90s post-hardcore, space-rock, and emo as they do traditional metal, showing that though Godflesh and Goatsnake records occupied the shelves of Pelican's songwriters, so too did Quicksand, Christie Front Drive, and Hum. "A lot of people didn't hear it," says Schroeder-Lebec. "I was like, well, I guess the metal world is where we fit. But now, I'm willing to acknowledge all the suits we're wearing." On Flickering Resonance, Pelican allowed themselves to look at their music less as a means of hard-earned catharsis and more as an appreciation for the glimmers of joy that occur even in the bleakest landscapes.

Marc Brauner joins Flipsight with a four-track journey combining soulful depth and club-ready energy in equal measure.
Under Marc's motto, "Stay Radiant", the A-side opens with a deep head-nodder that glows with a smooth and rolling groove from start to finish. "It's Alright" immediately raises the pulse with tight percussion, lush pads, and feel good momentum.

Flip it over for the B-side, "Show Me How" rides a big kick-snare combo and subtle spacy accents. Closing things out, "Floaty" does exactly what the title suggests: a bass-driven buzzer that lifts the floor and seals the deal.

Born in Buenos Aires in 1934, Hector 'Costita' Bisignani is one of the leading figures in Latin American jazz. Settling in São Paulo in the late 1950s,
he quickly established himself as one of Brazil's most renowned flutists and saxophonists, collaborating with major artists such as Sérgio Mendes, Elis Regina,
Hermeto Pascoal, João Donato, and Gato Barbieri. His career also led him to play alongside Michel Legrand, Lalo Schifrin, Burt Bacharach, and Ray Conniff,

demonstrating his international influence. A founding member of Sérgio Mendes' Sexteto Bossa Rio, he contributed to the rise of Brazilian jazz by incorporating
local rhythms and bold compositions. He is also renowned as a teacher, making him a respected figure for several generations of musicians. With a career
spanning more than 70 years, he remains a pioneering figure in the history of Latin American jazz. 1981, now reissued, perfectly illustrates this creative freedom.

The rules are simple, any member can vent and share how they are feeling, while other members are encouraged to push other members' self-esteem up. The movement is currently growing every day, providing a platform to speak about mental health, vent, and support one another. TX2 wants everyone to know they are not alone in their struggles. Das Wort ,tween" klingt irgendwie nach einer bestimmten Art von Unbeholfenheit, und das ist meistens nicht so positiv. Aber sieh es mal so: Etwas ,tween" ist dabei, sich zu etwas anderem zu entwickeln, und dieser Entwicklungsprozess hat seine ganz eigene Schönheit. Es ist irgendwie cool, das zu erkennen und zu feiern - sich darauf einzulassen. Jenn Wasner und Andy Stack - die beiden Hälften der Band - haben diese Songs als ,keinen Schritt nach vorne, sondern einen Schritt zur Seite in der Zeit" beschrieben. Mit anderen Worten: Sie passten einfach nicht zum fünften Album. Aber nur weil sie nicht dorthin passten, heißt das nicht, dass sie nirgendwo hingehören. Sie in Shriek zu zwängen, wäre unehrlich gewesen; sie zu verwaisten, wäre irgendwo zwischen kriminell und einfach nur albern gewesen. Tween ist voller wunderschöner Wye Oak-Songs, deren einziges Vergehen das Timing und der Kontext waren, gemacht von zwei Leuten auf dem Höhepunkt ihres Schaffens. In einem Moment umarmen Jenn und Andy ihren schwebendsten Cocteau-Twins-Instinkt (,If You Should See"), im nächsten sind sie wieder ein bisschen im Civilian-Territorium (,No Dreaming") und später sind sie geschmeidig und elektronisch und wunderschön 80er-mäßig (,On Luxury"). Der rote Faden: Das sind keine Ausgestoßenen oder Ausschnitte. Tatsächlich könnte Tween sogar leichter zugänglich sein als Shriek. Es sollte in die Riege der großartigen Nicht-Alben der Geschichte aufgenommen werden, deren Namen versuchen, ihre tatsächliche Qualität herunterzuspielen, wie R.E.M.s Dead Letter Office, The Whos Odds and Sods und vielleicht sogar Dinosaur Jr.s Whatever's Cool With Me.

dem sich der Tenorsaxofonist mit Streicherbegleitung präsentierte. Getz erwies sich hier als meisterhafter
Grenzgänger zwischen klassischer Musik und Jazz. Die atemberaubenden Kompositionen und Arrangements, die sich deutlich von den sonst im Jazz üblichen Streicherarrangements abhoben, stammten von
dem relativ unbekannten, aber exzellenten Eddie Sauter. Vier Jahre später arbeiteten Getz und Sauter bei
der Aufnahme des Krimi-Soundtracks “Mickey One” erneut erfolgreich zusammen.

The pioneering electronic sounds of Daphne Oram reimagined by TAAHLIAH, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Marta Salogni, Arushi Jain and others using tapes from Oram's archive.

To mark the centenary of overlooked electronic pioneer Daphne Oram, Nonclassical - together with Oram Trust and Oram Awards - have commissioned new music by a set of contemporary visionary minority-gender electronic artists celebrating the next generation of trailblazers.

This group of artists span early-career to high-profile DJs and musicians across diverse electronic worlds, representing a spectrum of distinct practises - from uncompromising club beats, performance art and sound art to ambient music and deconstructed future-forward Arabic dance music.

The artists have created these new works using samples from Oram's archive - housed at Goldsmiths, University of London - which features a mix of sound clips covering not only her innovative Oramics machine and other electronic music, but also match strikes, cat purrs, scraped objects and commercial jingles as well as recordings of Oram's own voice.

Look out for gigs around the UK and at London's Barbican Centre around the release.
