Faye Webster liebt das Gefühl des sogenannten First Takes und die Direktheit, wenn sie einen Song schreibt, um dann gleich am nächsten Tag ins Tonstudio zu fahren und das Stück gemeinsam mit ihrer Band live einzuspielen. Beim genauen Hören der selbstsicheren und geradeaus kreierten Alben der 23-jährigen Songwriterin aus Atlanta wird klar, warum: Hier werden Emotionen gebündelt und verarbeitet, die so schmerzlich sind, dass sie jeden Moment nahezu lebendig werden. Webster fängt den Funken ein, bevor dieser die Möglichkeit hat zu schwinden; Textzeilen werden zu Papier gebracht, bevor diese eine Chance haben zu entfliehen. Ihr ganz eigener charakteristischer Sound bringt dabei einen flüsternd ruhigen und zuhause aufgenommen Gesang mit dem Klang der Band in einem Raum zusammen. In den vergangenen zwei Jahren nach "Atlanta Millionaires Club" hat sich Websters Profil stetig weiterentwickelt, nachdem sie auf Festivals wie Austin City Limits und Bonnaroo spielte, einer ihrer Songs in Barack Obamas 2020-Lieblingssongs-Playlist einen Platz fand und die Musikerin sich auch verliebte. "This record is coming from a less lonely place," erklärt Webster über das Album "I Know I'm Funny haha", das sie vollkommener, aufgeweckter und selbstbewusster erscheinen lässt. Websters Musik ist vor allem geprägt von ihrer starken Persönlichkeit - dies wird auch in ihren Arbeiten als anerkannte Fotografin von Porträts und Stillleben deutlich. Viele ihrer Stücke enthalten Girl Group-artige Gesangs- bzw. Sprech-Passagen, die ihre untypischen Song-Geschichten weiter farbenfroh ausmalen.

Ohne Übertreibung kann man SKYEYE aus Slowenien als DAS Heavy-Metal-Wunderkind bezeichnen.
Gegründet im Jahr 2014 von Gitarrist Grega Stalowsky, Bassist Primož Lovšin und Sänger Jan Leščanec
überzeugt die Band durch einzigartiger und kraftvoller Gesang, kombiniert mit rauen und melodischen
Gitarrenriffs, die der Band ihren charakteristischen Heavy-Metal-Sound verleihen. Damit müssen sie sich
vor den großen Vertretern des Genres, wie Iron Maiden, Saxon oder Judas Priest, nicht verstecken. Die
Band hatte ihren ersten Auftritt im Juni 2017 und brachte nur vier Monate später ihre erste EP unter
dem Titel ”Run for Your Life” heraus. Die überwältigend positive Resonanz und der starke Support bei
ihren Auftritten trieb SkyEye zurück ins Studio, um ihr Debütalbum ”Digital God” aufzunehmen, das am
9. November 2018 veröffentlicht wurde.
Durch den Auftritt beim EMFA-Streaming-Festival im Sommer 2020 sorgte die Band erstmals auf internationaler Bühne für Aufsehen und galt für viele Besucher als DIE Entdeckung des Festivals. Daraus
resultierte der erste Plattenvertrag mit Reaper Entertainment und die nun weltweite Veröffentlichung ihres
zweiten Studioalbums ”Soldiers Of Light”. Das Album steckt voller wahrer Heavy Metal Hymnen, nach
denen man sich bereits jahrelang gesehnt hatte

Tracks by Cygnus, Alek Stark , Luke Eargoggle, Faceless Mind, Johan Inkinen and Kuldaboli. The Time Capsule project, also known as 808 Box, is a project created by Fundamental Records. The six boxes released in recent years include 56 records with over 300 tracks from artists from every corner of the world. Some warehouse copies have surfaced of the 10th Anniversary 808 Box, and these will be available individually. These are new copies in perfect condition, with the original sleeves printed with the images of the classic Roland TR-808.

Audio visual sculptor Kero operates the multidisciplinary arts collective Detroit Underground record label and continues to produce bit crushed experimental electronic music with over two decades under his belt.

Demo Vectors showcases Kero's sonic range—bouncing back and forth between IDM fractures, broken electro shapes and an all around low-end forcefield. Splicing machined modular tunes with syncopated rhythms and Detroit-inspired slivers, Kero's fingerprints can be found on imprints like Blueprint, Wild oats, Ghostly International, Shitkatapult, Semantica, Touchin' Bass, BPitch Control, and many others.

Using different studio setups from 1998 to 2021, Demo Vectors culminated from many different locations including Detroit, Windsor, Barcelona, Berlin and Los Angeles and reveals Kero's curriculum vitae packaged in a 60 minute robust collection.

The downtempo groove of "ABSTR_B&B" offers a classic bricolage of collapsed mechanical percussion straight from the foundry as the definitive sound design and glitchy bits of "BLISS" take shape. Fluid robotics and bass jabs progress on "GROUNDZEROBACK" pushing each pixel to their breaking point. You'll also find stark industrial elements on tracks like "PREFREAK.EPS" and spastic acid on "COMOFFICE-1" displaying the wide angle lens Kero employs to capture improvised dark drill'n bass techniques with a Squarepusher sheen. From the slow burning "PILL'LATHE2" humming its way across laid back digitized acrobatics to the aptly titled "COLOR_CUB" that clicks, cuts and collects subtle low frequency modulations, Demo Vectors is a tightly compacted and forward thinking IDM album.

Sandblasted electronics mixed with shattered glass and corrosive blips'n bleeps, Demo Vectors acts as Kero's raison d'etre as each piece eclipses itself.

81355 (pronounced `bless') is a meeting of the minds between three pillars of the Indianapolis music scene; Sirius Blvck, Oreo Jones, and Sedcairn Archives. While the three have worked together in the past, this is their first start-to-finish collaboration, and the result is the stunning and distinctive debut Time I'll Be of Use. Simultaneously mystical and stark, somber and danceable, the project grapples with hard-wired truths and imagines alternate realities with better futures. These lucid wanderings amongst the street fires sound like a cross between the ghost of progressive electronic music of the 70s with its innovative eccentricities, and acrobatic wordplay delivered with sharp resolve. While surrealist in its metaphors and abstraction, it doesn't betray a present awareness. Reflecting on Black struggle in the pandemicridden and democracy faltering landscape of 2020, each member arrived from a synchronistic space, and the recording process ended up being largely intuitive. On "Capstone," the opening track on the album, Sirius Blvck offers a look from inside his space, "This is what we've come to. Generational curses I still can't undo. Just taught my lil girl to tie her shoes now she running to. Holy smokes lungs made of leather like it's comfortable. Climbing up this infinite ladder to get a better view." These three musical vagabonds have met up to find even themselves surprised with the results. Drawing inspiration from the likes of biting poetic commentary of the late Naptown residents, Etheridge Knight and Kurt Vonnegut, OJ summons a golden-era flow and paints a picture of the group's influences, surroundings, and trajectory in one fell swoop in "Thumbs Up." "Alright, in my feelings tonight, Honda Civic overturned as it burns through the night. Bone Thugs in these streets no Surender in sight. I'm writing poems from a jail cell, Etheridge Knight. I throw a fit when I flip it, it's all vintage. A pearl white Bronco like OJ you done did it. The sunshine shatters the rock painted so vivid. Two-hundred fifty pounds of gifted we so lifted_ wassup?" Sirius, with poetry present even in his speaking voice, adds, "It's a way to carve our story in the sky before we're gone. This is us choosing to believe that this time, things will be different. It is an affirmation to the universe. This time I'll see the whole blessing. This time I'll be of use."

Have you ever felt like you’re being watched? Have you felt unseen eyes staring at you, monitoring your every move? Composer and guitarist Daniel Davies reflects on this familiar paranoia on his new EP, Spies. Across its five stirringly atmospher- ic tracks, the frequent John Carpenter collaborator evokes the tingle you get on the back of your neck when you sense you’re under surveillance - a feeling some psychologists have dubbed the “psychic staring effect.”

The songs for Spies were composed in the fall and winter of 2020, in the depths of pandemic lockdown. Working in isolation in his L.A. studio, Davies composed the five tracks entirely alone. With no collaborators, his gaze turned inward, and the songs feel intimate and intense. Yet at the same time, they would become the most sonically expansive material he’s ever put on a solo record. His guitar and synthesizer are bolstered by double bass, cello, viola, and violin, adding a new depth to the music.

As he did for his 2020 full-length Signals, Davies teamed up with acclaimed visual artist Jesse Draxler for the artwork. The stark, black-and-white piece that Draxler contributed for the cover of Spies perfectly captures the mood of the record. Eyes are cut out, disassociated from faces, their gazes made inscrutable. Yet they seem to fix on the listener. Have you ever felt like you’re being watched? Maybe you are.

Under his own name, Rossano Baldini has enjoyed a career as a renowned composer for film and television; a jazz pianist and keyboardist who has recorded with the likes of Gianluca Petrella, Michele Rabbia and Pierpaolo Ranieri; and a performer with the revered, Oscar-winning composer Nicola Piovani as well as the most esteemed orchestras in his native Italy. His latest project represents a rebirth of sorts, necessitating a new name: HUMANBEING.Establishing a wholly new persona as an electronic composer/performer, HUMANBEING finds Baldini reconnecting with his own, long-dormant vision while striking out in stunning new directions. His self-titled debut album, is a unique hybrid of the organic and the technological, delving deep into the composer's essential humanity by way of evocative synthetic soundscapes. It's a timely reinvention, occurring at a moment when we've all been starkly reminded of our biological natures at the same time as we're more interconnected than ever in the virtual realm.

Sub Rosa presents in their Early Electronic series, the final chapter of music by Beglian key composer of early electronic experiments, André Stordeur (1941-2020). Side A features a previously unreleased, stark and poignant composition from 1979; while the B side is vibrant and almost playful of pieces from the 2000s.

André Stordeur His musical career started in 1973 with a tape composition for the soundtrack to a film on Gordon Matta-Clark titled Office Baroque. Later in the 1970s, he participated to avantgarde music ensemble Studio voor Experimentele Muziek, founded in Antwerp, Flanders, by Joris De Laet. Since 1980, Stordeur composes exclusively on Serge synthesizer, either a Serge series 79 and a Serge prototype 1980, which was especially built for him by Serge Tcherepnin himself. In 1981, Stordeur composed the music of Belgian film director Christian Mesnil's documentary Du Zaïre au Congo. He studied at IRCAM in 1981 with David Wessel and then flew to the US to study with Morton Subotnick. Stordeur became an influential sound synthesis teacher and, in 1997, completed his Art of Analog Modular Synthesis by Voltage Control,4 a guide to everything modular.

Oberheim While 'Oberheim' is the centerpiece of this LP, we pressed for the first time on vinyl three pieces from the session André called 'Synthesis Studies,' previously featuring on Complete Analog and Digital Electronic Music, 1978-2000. 'I was helped in my studies by a must-have book: The Techniques of Electronic Music, by Thomas Wells and Eric Vogel (University Stores, 1974). That book aside, I learned synthesis on my own. After a trip to India in 1968, I discovered Indian music and took tabla and sitar classes in New Delhi; my teachers were students of Chatur Lal and Ravi Shankar. Later, in the 2000s, while living in the US, I tried to recreate through synthesis all the Indian musical instruments I loved so much.' 'Drone' is one of his most spectacular works.

Drab Majesty's first ever release was the 2012 self-released cassette tape "Unarian Dances". Originally limited to 100 copies, tracks from this tape would eventually make their way onto the Completely Careless CD collection as bonus cuts. Now, along with the "Unknown to the I" 12" also released on March 26, these songs are finally made available on vinyl in 45 RPM 12" format, bringing all early Drab Majesty material from the Careless era (2012-2015) to vinyl. Mastered by Josh Bonati with beautiful new packaging by Nathaniel Young.



Drab Majesty is the project of Deb DeMure, the androgynous alter-ego of L.A.- based musician Andrew Clinco and partner Mona D. With its combination of reverb-drenched guitars, synth bass lines, commanding vocals, and rhythmic drum machine beats, this project is a stark departure from Clinco’s previous stints as drummer in Marriages and Black Mare. Dubbed “Tragic Wave” and “Mid-Fi” by DeMure, Drab Majesty eloquently blends classic 80s New Wave and hints of early 4AD with a futuristic originality.

However, rather than taking personal credit for the music, DeMure insists that the inspiration for the songs is received from an other-worldly source and that Deb is merely a vessel through which outside ideas flow inward. But Drab Majesty is more than just a musical project — it’s a methodical experiment in the identity of creativity. The character Deb DeMure is an enigma that eludes all expectations of gender and ego. When DeMure’s imposing 6’ 4” figure assumes the stage, Deb’s playful, harlequin-esque appearance, tempered by an ominous body language, and clashing with the dreamy, ethereal melodies comes across as a web of contrasts. The result is a perfect balance between seemingly conflicting messages, between the high and the low, the drab and the divine.

Basierend auf dem minimalistischen akustischen Folk-Fundament, mit dem sie sich einen Namen gemacht hat, ist ”Flora Fauna” ein reiferes, gefühlvolleres Album, das um ein starkes Rückgrat aus Bass und Rhythmus herum aufgebaut ist. Die Songs markieren eine Periode persönlicher Unabhängigkeit für Marten, in der sie gelernt hat, sich selbst zu nähren und sich von giftigen Beziehungen zu lösen - und ein großer Teil davon war die Rückkehr zur Natur: “The name Flora Fauna is like a green bath for my eyes. If the album was a painting, it would look like flora and fauna -it encompasses every organism, every corner of Earth, and a feeling of total abundance.”

Erstpressung auf "Red, White & Blue hi-melt on clear" Vinyl! Das japanische Quartett CHAI veröffentlicht mit "Wink" ihr drittes Album und ihr erstes für Sub Pop. Es enthält CHAIs sanfteste und minimalistischste Musik, aber auch ihr mit Abstand bewegendstes und aufregendstes Songwriting. "Wink" ist zudem ein extrem passender Titel: eine subtile, aber kühne Geste. Ein Zwinkern ist ein unbefangener Akt der Überzeugung. CHAI besteht aus den eineiigen Zwillingen Mana (Gesang und Keyboard) und Kana (Gitarre), Schlagzeugerin Yuna und Yuuki. Mirrors’ and ‘Whole New Mess’, as well as an LP of bonus
audio. Also includes 40-page book including photo shoot
outtakes, pictures from the recording of these albums,
handwritten lyrics and items of meaning to Angel.
Originally conceived as a double album, ‘All Mirrors’ and
‘Whole New Mess’ were distinct parts of a larger whole, twin
stars that each expressed something bigger and bolder than
Angel Olsen had ever made. Released in 2019, ‘All Mirrors’
is massive in scope and sound, tracing Olsen’s ascent into
the unknown, to a place of true self-acceptance, no matter
how dark, or difficult, or seemingly lonely. ‘All Mirrors’ is
colossal, moving, dramatic in an Old Hollywood manner.
Recorded before ‘All Mirrors’ but released after, ‘Whole New
Mess’ is the bones and beginnings of the songs that would
rewrite Olsen’s story. This is Angel Olsen in her classic style:
stark solo performances, echoes and open spaces, her voice
both whispered and enormous. ‘All Mirrors’ and ‘Whole New
Mess’ presented the two glorious extremes of an artist who,
in these songs, became new by embracing herself entirely.
Now, with ‘Song of the Lark… And Other Far Memories’,
these twin stars become a constellation with the full extent of
the songs’ iterations: all the alternate takes, B-sides, remixes
and re-imaginings are here, together. Alongside, a 40-page
book collection tells a similar story, not just through outtakes
and unseen photos but through the smaller, evocative
details: handwritten lyrics, a favourite necklace, a beaded
chandelier. As if it could be more plainly stated (there’s
nothing more), Angel adds one cover here: a loving,
assertive rendition of Roxy Music’s ‘More Than This’.
It is a definitive collection, not just of these songs but of their
revelations and their writer, from their simplest origins to their
mightiest realizations.

Nach der sehr erfolgreichen und persönlichen EP, „For You“, die im letzten Jahr mit großem Erfolg veröffentlicht wurde (der Titeltrack der EP wurde von Resident Advisor auf Platz 1 der besten Tracks des Jahres 2020, vom Crack Magazine auf Platz 2 und von Pitchfork auf Platz 21 gewählt), ist „Watch Out!“ ein Feuerwerk an einzigartig gestalteter, energiegeladener Tanzmusik, die Indias euphorischen, bejahenden Sound in seiner stärksten Form zeigt. „Watch Out!“ ist stark von Bewegung inspiriert, sowohl in ihrer wörtlichen als auch in ihrer abstrakten Form, und India reflektiert darüber, wie diese Bewegung ihre Leben über die Jahre beeinflusst hat. Fast schon einem Klischee entsprechend sind die meisten Tracks von langen Reisen inspiriert. India beschreibt die Platte als „eine Hommage an sowohl physische als auch konzeptionelle Bewegung“, und ein Ergebnis ihrer eigenen Bewegungsmuster, das letztes Jahr durch einen Lockdown zwingend verändert wurde. Obwohl die meisten ihrer Shows im Jahr 2020 abgesagt wurden, hatten die in Doncaster geborenen und in London lebenden Künstler*innen, die als eine der aufregendsten Dance-Music-Produzierenden des Augenblicks gehandelt werden, ein ziemlich erfolgreiches Jahr und zeigt keine Anzeichen für eine Verlangsamung. „For You“ wurde im Mai 2020 auf Local Action veröffentlicht und erhielt sofort beeindruckende Kritiken von Medien wie hierzulande Groove und international Pitchfork (8.0), NME (5/5), Clash (8/10), Resident Advisor, Mixmag, The Guardian, Bandcamp, Dazed und mehr. India gewann außerdem den Preis „Best Breakthrough Producer“ bei den jährlichen DJ Mag Best of British Awards und wurde von Pete Tong zu seinem „Breakout Star of the Year“ in seiner Show bei BBC Radio 1 ernannt.

Zwischen alternativem, modernem Metal und spürbarem Zeitgeist haben sich die US-amerikanischen Durchstarter TETRARCH in den letzten Jahren mehr als nur einen Namen in der Szene gemacht und sind längst über den Status eines Insider Tipps hinausgewachsen. Legendary drummer, Mick Fleetwood enlisted an all-star cast for a one-of-a-kind concert honouring the early years of Fleetwood Mac and its founder, Peter Green which was held on 25th February 2020 at the London, Palladium. The bill included Billy Gibbons, David Gilmour, Pete Townshend, John Mayall, Christine McVie, Zak Starkey, Steven Tyler, Bill Wyman, Noel Gallagher, Pete Townshend, Neil Finn, Kirk Hammett and Jeremy Spencer. Legendary producer Glyn Johns joined as the executive sound producer and the house band featured Fleetwood himself along with Andy Fairweather Low, Dave Bronze, Rick Vito, Jonny Lang and Ricky Peterson.

Fleetwood, who curated the list of artists performing, said: “The concert is a celebration of those early blues days where we all began, and it’s important to recognize the profound impact Peter and the early Fleetwood Mac had on the world of music. Peter was my greatest mentor and it gives me such joy to pay tribute to his incredible talent.
