Unit Nine is a The Hague-based musical collective weaving together soulful melancholy, minimalist composition and soft grooves. Their debut album, Disaster Jester, will be released digitally and on 12?? vinyl on The Hague imprint PIP Records on November 14th, 2025, celebrated with a release show at Paard, Den Haag. The album was recorded under guidance of renowned producer Tijmen van Wageningen, at The Womb Studio. Disaster Jester revolves around the archetype of the jester, the trickster who embodies both chaos and wisdom, humour and tragedy. Across the album, music video and cover artwork, he appears as a clown in a shadowy crime narrative and as a weary detective who eventually dons the fool?s hat himself. The image becomes a mirror for the artist: observing, stumbling, laughing & fooling. The track ?Afgesproken Plek? features rap artists KC and MC Lost, who provided an imaginary crime skit playing on the detective persona central in the story telling of the album. While their universal and timeless sound could travel anywhere, there?s something distinctly The Hague about Unit Nine; a mix of irony, unpolished charm, and understated design sensibility. Their city?s blend of rough edges and refined aesthetics runs through their work and places the debut album within a historical tapestry of not-so-mainstream culture and art that the sea town is known to embody.

Ocean Cage is a live recording of Tianzhuo Chen nd Siko Setyanto’s performance Moyang & Seaman – a forking stage work that evolved from the immersive theatre performance project Ocean Cage, sharing the same title.
Directed by Tianzhuo Chen, aka Asiandopeboys, the immersive performance Ocean Cage merges scenography, installation, choreography, and live music into a unified whole. Inspired by the complex whaling traditions in Lamalera, an Indonesian village that preservers ritualised whaling practices and ancestral beliefs, the work unfolds through interconnected trinities – Moyang (ancestor), Lera Wulan (god), and Seaman – all incarnated by Siko Setyanto. It tells a porous story of unlocking the cage of the ocean: receiving ancestral blessing while becoming entangled with misjudgement, misunderstanding, ecological grief, and temporal displacement, until the sacrifice and life cycles move toward equilibrium.

RocAmeriKKKa 3 marks the third and most refined chapter in the ongoing alliance between Flee Lord and ETO—two architects of modern East Coast street rap whose chemistry is rooted in precision, pain, and unfiltered realism.

Building on the foundation laid by the previous installments, RocAmeriKKKa 3 sharpens the series’ core aesthetic: cinematic production, stark lyricism, and an uncompromising portrayal of survival and ambition. Flee Lord’s militant cadence and razor-edged delivery collide seamlessly with ETO’s calculated, introspective bars, creating a dynamic that feels both confrontational and methodical. The result is a body of work that operates like a street manifesto—cold, deliberate, and unapologetic.

The album is elevated by a heavyweight supporting cast. Conway The Machine brings his signature steel-plated intensity, reinforcing the project’s Griselda-adjacent grit. NEMS injects raw, high-energy aggression, while Vel Nine adds sharp lyricism and perspective that cut clean through the production. LUCKY is the self-titled debut album by the San Francisco band, born of a collaboration between songwriters Andrew St James (French Cassettes, Juan Wayne) and Peter Kegler (Half Stack). Now a full band featuring, the group combines anthemic indie-rock with y’allternative twang, the perfect soundtrack for long drives and late night revelries.
The story begins when St James booked Kegler’s band Half Stack for a show with Juan Wayne at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. The two immediately recognized each other as kindred spirits and before long they were spending late nights at The Lucky Horseshoe in Bernal Heights, where they pledged to make an album together. Much like Lennon-McCartney or Jagger-Richards, St James and Kegler showed up with their own songs and helped each other dial them in, the songs becoming something totally unique in the process. Pretty soon they recruited Elsasser and headed into the studio with producer Joe Santarpia (Mac DeMarco), where they blazed through more than half a dozen songs in a few days, capturing first takes of raw energy.
Album opener “Falling Through”, written by Kegler on a long drive over HWY 17 to Santa Cruz, pairs talkin’ country vocals on the verse with a hard hitting chorus, eventually ramping up to a phased out guitar solo and a truly epic bridge with gang vocals and an ad lib from St James. Meanwhile, lead single “Traveler” was the first song written for the album, originally a folky shuffle, St James thought it was a goner but Kegler helped recast it as a mid-tempo rocker with a twangy alt-country edge. “Friends” is a true-to-life account of St James’ lifestyle as he shuttled between San Francisco and Los Angeles, paying homage to the City’s legendary House of Prime Rib with a propulsive beat that recalls Girls, Kings of Leon, and the grandiose energy of the E Street Band.

Born in the Washington, DC area and raised in West Virginia, Miller has built a reputation as a thoughtful, boundary- pushing voice in alt- country and Americana, drawing from punk, traditional Appalachian music, and less conventional rock influences. For this record, he left his comfort zone behind and traveled to Tulsa to record at the legendary Church Studio, drawn by the city's deep musical legacy and its ties to artists like J.J. Cale. Co- produced with longtime collaborator Adam Meisterhans , the album was tracked live with a band of Tulsa- based musicians, including Grammy- nominated John Fullbright, under the steady hand of veteran engineers Gary Laney and Mike Prado. The result is John R. Miller 's most ambitious work to date - a spacious, textured collection that expands on the critically praised Depreciated and Heat Comes Down, blending road- worn storytelling, fuzzy atmospheres, and reflections on movement, memory, and change. Rooted in his West Virginia past yet shaped by constant travel and new collaborations, The Great Unknowing captures an artist trusting the process, embracing risk, and letting the groove lead the way.

Originally founded as a solo project by singer Georg Wilfinger (ex-Miasma) in 2010 in Austria, In 2012, the project evolved into a studio band with drummer Romain Goulon (ex-Necrophagist) and guitarist Jean-Pierre Battesti, releasing the demo "Bandroom Misanthropy" MONUMENT OF MISANTHROPY have released three studio albums, and an EP Previous full-length album "Vile Postmortem Irrumatio" was released in August 2024 and drew roaring reviews worldwide. The new opus is a wholesome little concept album chronicling the coming- of- age story of a serial killer: the awkward upbringing, the early extracurricular activities, and the grand finale on the electric chair, America's probably most prolific serial killer , Ted Bundy.

The recordings were made in a single day in New York City with a team of extraordinary musicians. He'd already established a firm creative partnership with bass legend Cameron Brown and award-winning pianist Russ Lossing over the past year during their time as recording artists in NYC, and he renewed his fruitful association with outstanding drummer Billy Mintz (Lee Konitz, Charles Lloyd, Alan Broadbent) to complete the quartet. These three have been vital to Kazuki's compositions that tell the story of his enforced absence from the scene during the pandemic and how he sought to centre himself in the midst of the disruption through contemplation and the development of an inward strength. Each track complements the next, alternately celebrating the deep jazz tradition and pushing hard at its boundaries, allowing each member of the quartet to display their extraordinary musicianship while creating a harmonious whole.

Imagine taking Black Flag, The Beastie Boys and Mclusky, shoving them into a cement mixer and using the resultant sludge as some form of musical cement Okay? Excellent! On an entirely unrelated matter, I Will Take You Hunting release their brand new (4th) and best (1st) album yet in June 2026. The album is released on Geranium Red Vinyl ...and no, we don't know who Patterson is! I Will Take You Hunting are Steve, Dave & DJ Butterscotch, a thrillingly abrasive three piece from Scotland. Their sound is a unique blend of electro-punk with hues of hip hop and groove. They are known for their electrifying live sets and raucous, vivid storytelling.

Chuck Berry (1926–2017) was one of rock ’n’ roll’s true architects, celebrated for his sharp songwriting, distinctive guitar riffs, and electrifying stage presence. With classics like “Johnny B. Goode,” “Roll Over Beethoven,” and “Maybellene,” he helped define the sound and attitude of 1950s rock. Blending rhythm & blues with country influences, he created a style that was energetic, rebellious, and unmistakably his own. His storytelling lyrics and groundbreaking guitar work laid the foundation for generations of rock artists, making this compilation a powerful tribute to one of music’s most influential pioneers.

Detroit producer, Shawescape Renegade, comes to Tresor Records with Exoframe, a five-track EP of pure techno and electro, including a remix by Arpanet.
As with so many forerunners and peers in the Detroit techno world, Shawescape Renegade, is a deep thinking and a world-building story teller and Exoframe uses the traditional sci-fi narrative to explore recent thought Shaw has had on the potential hidden costs of technological
evolution: what happens when overspecialisation leads to a dead end; when inflexibility means a return to the old forms becomes difficult.
The EP opens with 78 Light Years From Earth, an effects-laden slab of electro that pulls the percussion into other dimensions. Mechanus 9 brings a techno edge before Terraformers Warning unleashes a bass-driven beast.
A fast-paced remodel of Terraformer’s Warning from Gerald Donald’s Arpanet project follows, before the EP is closed out with another bassline-forward track, Ignition One, an updated version of the Shawescape cut that soundtracked the section of the Black To Techno
documentary focussed on the Detroit’s Jit dance scene. The strong symbiosis between Jit and Techno is a foundational part of Detroit’s culture and a community tie and suggests that while technology may lead to stagnation, the cultural muscle memory offers a path back to
authenticity.
In a thoughtful nod to the praxis of the DJ, the vinyl versions of A1 & B1 are five BPM slower than the digital, moving the music to between 128BPM and 151BPM on a standard Technics turntable and opening it up for play in a greater range of club environs.
It’s this deep respect for the artistry and traditions of Detroit’s longstanding music and dance scenes that mark Shawescape Renegade out as one of the true inheritors of the city’s heritage.

Limited red vinyl rerelease. 500 for the World (just 80 copies for the UK) After falling out with Sir Coxsone, the legendary head of the Kingston label Studio One, Lee Perry first founded his own band and then, in 1973, set up his own studio in his backyard. What was born out of necessity developed into a unique success story. With both the Upsetters and the Black Ark, Perry made music history - most notably with the 1976 release of the album Super Ape, on which he made the genre of dub bubble and boil from the mixing desk in previously unheard ways. For Perry, the studio is like a living organism. Whether he truly experiences it that way or simply lets too much ganja go up in smoke, for Perry the equipment is organic, empathetic, and intelligent. The catch is that the results sound exactly like that as well. Long before sampling was invented, he layered tracks of deep basslines, echoes, and reverb with various self-recorded sound sequences – often played in reverse - on top of, into, and beneath each other. In other words, Perry was the first producer who made the music instead of the band. Among other things, this earned him the title ‘Salvador Dali of Dub.’

The ongoing importance of this album is indisputable, essential both to techno and to Tresor. It is a history intertwined. This work elevates its maker as master, and remain a cherished moment in the Tresor story, sharing an irrefutable singular magic, sounding as present and indispensable as when first created. To understand this work fully is to stand back and celebrate its impact.
Originally released in 1994, 'Internal Empire' marks a point of transition for Robert Hood moving on from his previous collaborations within Underground Resistance. Robert Hood advanced uncovering the power of true minimalism. Deep soul through a simplicity that showed how much could be done with so little. The devastating rhythms of this album forge the unmatched spirit of this sound, influencing generations to come.

,Future Development" ist das dritte Album von Del The Funky Homosapien und war nach seinem Weggang vom Major-Label Elektra sein erstes Solo-Album für sein Independent-Label Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings. Ursprünglich 1997 auf Kassette veröffentlicht und später 2002 auf CD und Vinyl neu aufgelegt, stützte sich das Album größtenteils auf Dels eigene Produktion sowie Beiträge von Hiero Crew-Mitgliedern A-Plus, Opio und Toure. Der einzige Gastbeitrag auf dem Album stammt von Crew-Mitglied Casual, der Del auf dem energetischen ,Checking Out The Rivalry" begleitet. Klanglich schlägt ,Future Development" eine Brücke zwischen den funklastigen Stilen von Dels Debüt und den dunkleren, futuristischeren Texturen, die er auf ,No Need for Alarm" erkundete. Marking twenty years since South African producer and DJ Esa Williams left Cape Town, Dala What We Must is a deeply personal and expansive debut LP, an exploration of movement, memory, and sound shaped by two decades of creative evolution. Co-created with collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Robin G. Breeze, the album deftly combines field recordings, layered instrumentation, and emotionally resonant compositions into a nuanced, globally influenced body of work. It also stands as Esa’s most collaborative release to date, featuring contributions from musicians across London, Oaxaca, Nairobi, and Cape Town, each adding their own creative energy to a project built on openness, trust, and shared experience. The album draws inspiration from Esa’s recent ventures into documentary scoring and soundtracking, with projects like Cursed (Audible) and The Invisible Hand teaching him to listen differently, to honour space, to serve the story. That sensibility permeates the album, resulting in music that breathes, lingers, and listens as much as it speaks.

The title, Dala What We Must, is a South African call to action: a reminder to do what’s necessary, even in uncertainty. Finalised in the months leading up to Esa’s transition into fatherhood, the record carries a sense of grounding, care, and quiet transformation. Dala What We Must is a sonic reflection of journey and community, a deeply collaborative project rooted in connection and guided by intention.

Dx2ov arrives on Blank Mind with Tonegues, his second vinyl LP following on from Interzona on Gost Zvuk in 2024. The LP title is a wordplay on the idea of speaking in tongues and sonic tonalities, echoing the process and dialogue that went into creating the record. Taken from a vast archive of material from 2019-2025, these ideas were arranged with the collaboration of label owner Sam Purcell and then completed with the long-distance assistance of Toupaz.

Tonegues is best seen through the lens of a beat-tape, with the playful flow and variety that the format provides, bursting with oddball ideas and punctuated with intangible vocal samples. Much like the LP’s beguiling, hand-drawn artwork by Wolfgang Matuschek, it is a glimpse into an inner world, a portal to somewhere uncanny and strange borne through imagination.

Light dub flourishes mix with footwork/IDM hybrids and understated, melancholic synthesis on ‘2018’, whilst the loose, rhythmic march of ‘Fon32’ evokes the dusty beatdown styles of early 2000s Detroit downtempo records. Whilst on one of the LP highlights ‘Trout’ he lays down a gleefully strange bed for the surrealist storytelling of Jacob Dwyer about interactions with dogs, dripping old houses and a perennial wish for the phone to ring with a heavy dub poetry slant. Dx2ov swiftly moves through more footwork adjacent, almost bedroom hyper-pop territories with a penchant for gabber kicks on ‘No Strings (feat DJ Paprika)’ and the maximalism of album closer 'Demetch' which continues in the tradition of wonky, mid-2010s UK bass music flips. The outcome is a confounding, unorthodox piece of work, zigzagging between forms, textures and moods.

What is the value of a bullet, when you wield a sword? While players have been praising BIRDCAGE for transferring retro aesthetics into modern times, the incomparable soundtrack is always pointed out for the same reasons. Entering Barry Topping, who gained recognition for the famous Paradise Killer game soundtrack and lately continued to spread those funky city pop vibes with his very own project The Needs. But for BIRDCAGE it was time to stray from his "trademark sound" and explore a different sonic space he had always been passionate for as well.

Lifeforce is the 1985 sci-fi horror cult film directed by Tobe Hooper, responsible for the 1974 horror classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Based on Colin Wilson's 1976 novel The Space Vampires, the film is about the remnants of a race of intergalactic vampires who are brought to London, where they soon begin to infect its population.

Legendary composer Henry Mancini has soundtracked this apocalyptic descent into chaos. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in film history exemplified by his impressive trophy wall: he won four Oscars, a Golden Globe, and twenty Grammy Awards, plus a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He is most famous for "Moon River" performed by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's and of course The Pink Panther.

James Horner was first asked to compose the score, but Mancini was brought in instead and crafted a piece of music both bombastic and ambient (and sometimes even atonal), employing the London Symphony Orchestra. Sit back and feel the fear...

The soundtrack of Lifeforce is available as a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on purple marble vinyl, and includes a 4-page booklet containing an alternate cover, film stills, and a fold-out movie poster replica.

And no, they don’t intend to reinvent that wheel any time soon; the wheel that is Invoking Terror simply rolls over you – FAST – and the only recourse is to submit and headbang like a fucking maniac or summarily get flattened like the wimp that you are. The modern underground has yet to see such unbridled violence since the glory days of the aforementioned bands, and indeed is that CUTTHROAT’s aim on Invoking Terror. There is no story, no fashion, no trends – this is simply audial torture sent to invoke terror over all who listen

Video gambling addicts, academic researchers, and industry professionals alike describe the trancelike state into which problem gamblers suspend themselves with remarkable consistency: they unanimously call it the machine “zone,” a kind of inner experience during which the rhythmic flow of human-machine collusion borders on mysticism. Time is abolished in the act of contemporary video gambling —simulated slot reels roll, virtual poker decks deal, and all worldly concerns are lost—leaving only the aura of total zone immersion in its wake. Sometimes characterized as the crack cocaine of gambling, the intensity of the machine zone is a symptom of casino ergonomics: emotionally manipulative fragrance-saturation, mesmerizing lights, subtly controlling walkways and, as captured here, meticulously engineered sonic environments all play a role in evoking the timeless void of the zone.

Although I was not yet aware of the extent to which casinos tailor their environments for maximum comfort (and, correspondingly, profit), I did know as I crossed the threshold of my first casino floor last year that I would be back for more. Hit by a cornucopia of slot machine tones, triggering aleatorically and coalescing into shimmering masses, I was struck by the need to return and record the sounds that so entranced me. It wouldn't prove to be easy—casino security is intense—and due to the clandestine nature of the operation, my recording techniques were by no means sophisticated. Equipped with nothing but an Olympus LS-11 recorder's internal microphone stashed in a sweaty coat pocket, I allowed the lure of the zone to guide me through a series of ambling recording sessions, the best of which are included here.

I learned a lot about casino sonics in the process: game designers, for example, once tuned all their machines to the key of C major in order to optimize harmonic cohesion (strict adherence to the key is no more but C still dominates the game floor); one team of designers, the story goes, even spent a month perfecting a single 'ding' sound on one machine. In the interest of preserving the true ambient sounds of the casino these recordings are untreated, but lost in the sea of chance I did exert some affirmative control by means of meandering intent and my actual playing of the machines. And by participating in the games myself I got a taste of the financially debilitating consequences that accompany the enchantment of video gambling. The cassette in your hands represents my endeavor to bring you the zone experience without the harsh comedown of its unfortunate reality.

The industrial techno score doesn’t just accompany the game, it’s embedded in the code of the world they have created together. The full score sees its debut on vinyl for the first time as a limited-edition Record Store Day 2026 release.

Set in Redrock, a sprawling desert metropolis ruled by surveillance and automation, MindsEye follows Jacob Diaz, an ex-soldier haunted by fractured memories. As his personal mission escalates, he’s forced to navigate a world shaped by rogue AI, militarized tech, and a fragile grip on control, all while confronting the truth about his past. "In MindsEye, sound is a critical storytelling layer, from ambient detail to emotional drive, every element is designed to shape how players feel inside the world," said Craig Conner, audio director at Build A Rocket Boy. Few artists arrive as compellingly yet elusively as did Stuart Moxham upon the startling debut of Young Marble Giant's sole studio album, Colossal Youth. Initial excitement was thrust upon the young Alison Statton, who sang songs written by Stuart with a couple of exceptions. The unaffected tone of her voice was in steep contrast to the typical goings-on in that still quite punky time, but it was what she sang that fully sold it. Moxham's lyrics were both intensely personal and woefully oblique. There seemed to be a sort of story in there. Confusingly, that story often felt like it was Alison's rather than the fellow who'd penned it. The unexpected miracle a deal with Rough Trade and the album's subsequent success had the band stymied for a second act and it wasn't long before the group disintegrated, although circumstances often brought members and a few of their peers - among them Debbie Pritchard, Spike Williams, and a third Moxham brother, Drew. - Phil Moxham was the band's bassist - together in odd combinations and pairings. None of the three YMG members have been especially prolific, but it's Stuart's career that has seemed the least straightforward, as if he'd wondered, "What to do when your debut is a nearly perfect artefact?" In the case of his first "solo" full-length in thirty years, Stuart took the unusual step of entering an alien studio with American producer Dave Trumfio (who's also the leader of Pulsars and bassist for Mekons) and allowing him to decide what tracks (of a large number submitted by Stuart) to record, and how they'd be orchestrated. Or not. In this case - save for the writing and composing - it's really Dave's album as much as Stuart's. The tracks went with Dave back to LA, where they were mixed, a few parts added (including subtle backing vocals from the incredible Linda Smith) . . . then later unmixed and reworked by John Henderson and Roni Ayala back in Valencia. Both versions will be made available, and both have a compelling cohesion missing from some of Stuart's work since YMG. Stuart's minimalism is quite intact, the range of emotions quite wide. There are few artists operating today like Stuart Moxham, a composer of the upper echelon of innate talent who combines avant-garde ideas with deceptively forthright personal lyrics, solid hooks, ambience and vaguely off-centre instrumentation which defies the casual marketplace as confoundingly as it ever did to the underground, whatever that is these days. His songs have been admired and / covered by everyone from Lush to Kurt Cobain, adaptations in Japanese and even a French-language hit by Etienne Daho, adaptations by Hole, Galaxie 500, Magnetic Fields, Belle And Sebastian and many others - but a new Stuart Moxham album is a special kind of joy.
