The Lovely Eggs return with new single 'My Mood Wave' to be released February 9th digitally & on a 7" single to follow March 15th. New album due in May. It's been four years since the world heard any new music from our heroes in psych-punk-power duo The Lovely Eggs. Four long years since the release of their Number 1 Independent Chart topper, 'I Am Moron'. But it's not like they've been lazy, oh no. They made their own TV series EGGS TV and hosted it on YouTube, they duetted with Iggy Pop, piled into their van and played a load of sold out gigs and festivals, spent two years fighting to save Lancaster Music Co-Op (a community rehearsal rooms and recording studio where they live), and then they got their heads down and wrote a new album_ Due in May, the new Lovely Eggs album was recorded by the band at home in Lancaster with production work from Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann. They flew to America in December 2023 to mix the album in Fridmann's studio in upstate New York and we'll all get the chance to hear the first results of these sessions on the 9th of February, when the band will unveil the album's first single, 'My Mood Wave'. "My Mood Wave is kind of an internal thought monologue," says Eggs singer and guitarist Holly. "It's a brain on a surfboard, trying to navigate the barrage of daily shit that gets washed up each day. It's a coping mechanism handbook for people who sometimes find the world too much." 'My Mood Wave' has an uplifting contemporary feel, haunted by a West Coast retro vibe that pulses and shimmers with a gorgeously addictive melody that will float around your head for days. Although the single will be released digitally on February 9th, there will also be a physical 7" with the customary mind-bulging artwork from Casey Raymond, and an exclusive track tantalisingly titled 'Crab Shell' on the flipside. Obscure Shape & SHDW represent the new generation of German techno, they took over in a very small amount of time their own space, and they showed that their sound can fit in many different places. Now it's time for them to join the label with a stunning debut that represents all they did in this years, but even better what they want to aim for in the future. It's a refined release. We are so excited to present to the world the 3rd and final instalment in Danny Tenaglia’s GU Trilogy, Danny’s mixes have been a huge part of our DNA for many years, with his seminal Athens and London mixes forming the part of many people’s favourite DJ mixes of all time, Brooklyn is a stunning addition to that heritage and we can’t wait to release this album to the world.

This is the Vinyl Edition #2 of the album, curating a stellar selection of techno and melodic house. Yuki Kanesaka, the multi-instrumentalist/Producer who's been the Mastermind behind his monolog project recordings is back with the delicious uptempo cover of "Watermelon Man". He indulges us with star-studded features of Bill Summers, the percussionist of the Head Hunters and Curtis "Fitz" Williams, the musical director and keyboardist/saxophonist of Kool & the Gang. The backstory is, Yuki traveled all the way to Bill Summer's home studio on Valence Street, New Orleans to record Bill playing a variety of alluring percussive instruments. That includes playing Hindewhu, the style of singing/whistle-playing of Central Africa mixed with a Peruvian Pan flute Zampoña much like the infectious Head Hunters version. Other notable instrumentations include congas, and shekere and Bill's hand scratching used as a human shaker. Curtis Williams plays the lead soprano sax melody we all know and love, with some added clavinet that adds extra sugar to the watermelon funk. B side features a special drum break version called "Bill's Valence Street Jam", so you can really savor the mouthwatering groove of the Watermelon Man. Both tracks are performed, produced, mixed, and recorded by monolog aka Yuki Kanesaka.

When he’s not eating tapas, sipping on cold cañas or digging through our dusty record boxes, he’s producing strange wonky house beats for the weekend shenanigans. Hannah Nicholson and David Page are London based boat dwellers who have cruised the river Thames whilst writing, playing and self-producing their debut album. Named after their boat Ederlezi it became their muse, refuge and recording studio during 2023.

Ederlezi have taken inspiration from the classic songwriting of the 1960s. Hannah is influenced by songwriters such as Scott Walker, Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell and is always looking for a story. David is influenced by the guitar based Rock'n'roll of the 50s, the psychedelic 60s and the bass styles of Serge Gainsbourg with some prog rock mixed in.

David is the bass player in The Pretenders and has worked with Jonathan Jeremiah, Young Gun Silver Fox, Rio 18, His Lordship, Nell Bryden, Edwyn Collins, The Black Pumas as a guitarist, bass player, singer and collaborator touring extensively around the world. Hannah is a solo artist in her own right, a prominent troubadour and songwriter on the London Folk scene. She has also worked with Hannah Williams & The Affirmations, Ellie Goulding, Gary Barlow, Jonathan Jeremiah and Nell Bryden as a backing singer and instrumentalist.

Chicago? Absolutely! Detroit? Definitely! For many, however, a significant chapter in the coming-of-age story of House music was also written in The Netherlands.

This 8-track compilation is the result of a nationwide search for lost Digital Audio Tapes (DAT’s), dusty home-studio recordings, and other relics from those early days. The distinctive "House" sound eventually evolved into a rainbow of local styles and grooves. Back then, DJ’s played their heart out and didn’t limit themselves to any particular musical genre. Following that spirit, this compilation contains everything that makes the Dutch sound so special, from energetic Breaks to atmospheric Deep House.

These are not your usual suspects, not even the most revered diggers have this collection at their fingertips. It's raw, pure material from the time when house parties were fresh and dirty at the same time. Back when the only dress code was a wide smile from ear to ear. Four sides with two tracks each, ensuring maximum DJ enjoyment. Now get out there and spread the Dutch 90's House vibes!

An interesting insight into some of the diverse dancefloor oriented sounds going on in Canada during the 80s sitting somewhere between electro, italo disco and proto house. A-side starts off on a slow paced 80 bpm pop/rock italo-disco crossover track featuring lyrics in english with an unidentifiable accent, very much reminiscent of Italian local neighbourhood private press ventures featuring someone's sister on the vocal. 3 versions later, on the B side, things step up a notch coming in at 130 bpm with "Heat In Africa's" drum machine propelled rhythmic mayhem pulling out all the latest studio bells and whistles of the time. Big electric guitar solo build up on the "Dance Mix" and additional Bonus Beats mix by Castro. Remastered and officially re-released almost 4 decades later.

Sourced from the analog master tapes for the first time, Sharp-Flat presents the WITCH disco albums as you've never heard them before in sleeves that replicate the original album artwork.

Over the course of the 1970s, WITCH delivered an impressive run of garage, rock and prog releases. By 1980, the band was ready for a new chapter. Shuffling their lineup and relocating to Zimbabwe, they undertook their mythical transformation into an African R&B, soul and funk powerhouse. With access to a state of the art recording studio in Harare, WITCH produced two exquisite albums from 1980 to 1984.

With crisp beats, funky bass, swirling synths and tight horns, 1980's Movin' On was a sharp departure from the group's Zamrock roots and made no bones about the fact that the WITCH was ready to embrace the sound and spirit of a new decade. Trading lead vocals with founding member Chris Mbewe are newcomers Christine Jackson and Stanford Tembo, making for a well rounded set that combines dance floor burners with mid-tempo boogie grooves. A carefully crafted, great sounding album from a seasoned ensemble, Movin' On is an African pop classic.

Bright Magus is an instrumental quintet born under the influence of Miles Davis' metaphysical electric period, a visceral and magical passion always shared by Giovanni Calella and Leziero Rescigno. Davis' most eclectic and psychedelic period, that of recordings for Columbia from 1969 throughout the 70s. Albums like “In a Silent Way”, “Bitches Brew”, “A tribute to Jack Johnson”, “On The Corner”, “Big Fun” made them immerse themselves in one of the most fascinating experiments that Miles has generated in his long and prolific career. We are talking about music that is difficult to fit into one genre, in these masterpieces you can feel the contemporaneity of that historical period. Electric Jazz, Funk, Psychedelia, Rock, Afrobeat, Ambient, drag you into something absolutely new, mysterious and sometimes furious. Just a year ago Giovanni and Leziero took courage and started recruiting musicians who had to have the right attitude and knowledge. Guitarist Alberto Turra was the first to be interested in the project, then came Mauro Tre, pianist and keyboard player and Gianni Sansone on trumpet. All seduced by Miles and in love with that magical period.

Before making the first album "Jungle Corner", the band did some live shows to amalgamate all the ideas that came out during the improvs recorded by Tullio Treffiletti in the trumpeter's home studio (later baptized Selim Studio). At the Isola Studio in Manuel Agnelli's space and with the help of the very talented Guido Andreani, Bright Magus then recorded in three days live all the material which in the meantime had been enriched with more structured melodic themes and less casual drafts . Mauro's contribution was very important in this. The finalization of the album was then managed by them in the small "Diabolicus Studio" taking care of editing, post production and mixing.

Faith presents the second volume of ‘Ain’t That A Groove’, a series of 12” pressings collating current and forthcoming productions and remixes from the London label. Originally launched in 1999 by Boy’s Own legend Terry Farley alongside Stuart Patterson and Dave Jarvis, the cult label relaunched in 2020 after renewed interest from house heads and Faith fanzine readers. Opening up this collection, one of Chicago's finest house producers and songwriters Robert Owens and his 2023 collab with Nolan ‘I’ll Be Your Friend’, a bona fide house classic reignited for audiences of today. Hilit Kolet’s ‘POV Siren’ follows, a stomping club cut that received support from the likes of Carl Cox and TSHA. The four-track press also includes New Zealand talent Philippa’s remix of ‘The Night’, originally by Pete Heller & Terry Farley as Roach Motel, as well as Terry’s latest release with frequent collaborator Wade Teo spotlighting Kameelah Waheed on vocals with the TDK 90 Dope Mix of ‘Dancing After Dark’.

Originally released in 1993 on DJ Phantasy’s Liquid Wax label, it has now been repressed in conjunction with Vinyl Fanatiks on coloured vinyl.

As always with anything on Liquid Wax, these tracks are big club releases as Phantasy was testing them out at all the raves in the early 90’s. But Phantasy always has a trick up his sleeve that makes his music sound incredibly original and still fresh to this day, 31 years later!

This is one of Phantasy’s many aliases. ‘Get On The Floor’ is a jungle-techno stomper, created in the same studio that invented that genre. Where as ‘Welcome To The Underworld’ has very strong Liquid Aliens vibes about it.

As always with anything on Liquid Wax, these tracks are big club releases as Phantasy was testing them out at all the raves in the early 90’s. But Phantasy always has a trick up his sleeve that makes his music sound incredibly original and still fresh to this day, 31 years later!
