Einst waren Rialto unverletzlich ("Untouchable"), sind aber bereits Ende der 90er erst morgens nach fünf heimgekommen ("Monday Morning 5.19"), nun kündigen die britischen Kult-Britpopper ihr erstes neues Album seit 24 Jahren an: "Neon & Ghost Signs" wird im April 2025 über Fierce Panda Records veröffentlicht. Es ist eine Reunion, die nicht so sehr von der Sehnsucht nach der Vergangenheit angetrieben wird, sondern vielmehr von der Dringlichkeit, das Beste aus dem Jetzt zu genießen. Vor sechs Jahren wurde Sänger und Songschreiber Louis Eliot während eines Spanienurlaubs für eine Notoperation ins Krankenhaus gebracht und ist dabei kurz dem Tode nah gewesen. Seine vollständige Genesung war eine Epiphanie. "Man könnte meinen, wenn man dem Tod sehr nahe ist, sollte man anfangen, sich um sich selbst zu kümmern", sagt er. ,Aber ich bin einfach mit Vollgas meiner Jugend hinterhergejagt. Ich dachte mir nur: Egal, vielleicht bin ich nächste Woche nicht mehr da, ich stürze mich einfach rein." Ein Teil von Eliots Wiedergeburt bestand darin, dass er eine langjährige Beziehung hinter sich ließ, um erneut in die Londoner Club-Szene einzutauchen. Ein bedeutender Teil davon waren die Romantik und die Verwundbarkeit, die er dort fand. Ein anderer Teil davon war die Erkenntnis, dass die Songs, die in dieser Zeit entstanden - Lieder über Liebe und Verlust, Hedonismus und Reue, die in wehmütigen Geisterstunden spielen - ein Ruf aus der (eigenen) Vergangenheit waren. Neon and Ghost Signs eröffnet in gewollt simpeler und eingängiger Dancefloor-Ästhetik mit der ersten Single "No One Leaves This Discoteque Alive". Eliot, mit einem lasziven Brel-Knurren, vergießt Tränen in der Discotheque, ist "der Hund der Londoner Stadt", wo "die Laken mit Gold befleckt sind", der darauf aus ist, "seinen Kopf zu verlieren" und Liebe als perfekten Sturm zu erleben. Es ist der Auftakt zu einem "Durch die Nacht mit...", den das gesamte Album mit der von Rialto bekannten Widescreen-Pop Leidenschaft verfolgt. Rialto waren in Südostasien Superstars mit Doppel-Platin und in Großbritannien immer ein hochgelobter Kult, aber zweifellos eine Band, die ihrer ästhetischen Zeit voraus war. Nach dem zweiten Album Night on Earth im Jahr 2001 löste sich die Band auf und Eliot arbeitete regelmäßig mit Grace Jones und Danny Goffey von Supergrass zusammen; als Songwriter schrieb er u. a. das mit dem Ivor Novello ausgezeichnete "Leave Right Now" für Will Young; er veröffentlichte 2004 ein Soloalbum und 2010 eine sehr ländlich klingende Platte als Louis Eliot And The Embers und veranstaltet das Port Eliot Festival in Cornwall mit 8.000 Besuchern. This is a previously unheard, Kent Records exclusive release from the great singer/songwriter Valerie Simpson. ‘Look Away’ by the Shirelles on Sceptre was a big 100 Club play in the 80s. Now we have found the original version by the song’s writer - complete with a sensitive girl backing group, no doubt featuring some of those legendary NYC studio vocalists.

The flip is possibly even more relevant. There has never been a known US production of ‘It’s Just Love’ which is adored by collectors and dancers through the UK’s John Andrews’ super-rare and expensive 1966 Parlophone release. To have a female version by the song’s co-writer is exciting and advance DJ plays of this have already built big demand.

If you are a celebrated progressive rock musician who has produced dozens of albums, how do you make an album that is different to what is usually expected? One answer is to work with musicians who also have decades of experience and worldwide recognition, plant a few seeds, then stand back and see what happens. For the Cosmic Cathedral project and their debut album ‘Deep Water’, this is exactly what Neal Morse did, joining up with Chester Thompson (Genesis), Phil Keaggy & Byron House. Much of the album was created from jam sessions where Morse’s long-time audio partner Jerry Guidroz put the best parts together, such as for the 38 minute epic, Deep Water Suite. Says Morse, “Time To Fly, also came directly from one of the jam sessions, where we took one of Phil’s ideas and all four of us elaborated on it.” What resulted from all this was a more groove-orientated feel, which Morse calls a “prog meets yacht rock meets The Beatles” kind of album, with an unmistakable jazz fusion influence: “These guys are real groovers: even if they're playing proggy stuff, it has more of a Steely Dan feel to it, but when Phil and I start singing it sounds like The Beatles!” Available as Limited CD Digipak, Gatefold 2LP & as Digital Album.

Am 25. April veröffentlicht d4vd sein mit Spannung erwartetes Debütalbum „WITHERED“, das ab sofort
vorbestellt werden kann. Das Album knüpft an seine erfolgreichen EPs „Petals to Thorns“ und ”The Lost
Petals” (2023) an.
d4vd hat sich in Rekordzeit als eine der aufregendsten Stimmen der Alternativszene etabliert. GQ nennt ihn
einen „undeniable mouthpiece for Gen Z“, das Interview Magazine spricht davon, dass er „die AlternativeSzene im Sturm erobert“, und die NME bezeichnet ihn als „Multi-Genre Visionary“.
Sein internationaler Durchbruch gelang ihm 2022 mit Romantic Homicide – einer Indie-Rock-Hymne, die
er komplett auf einem iPhone aufnahm. Der Song erreichte Platz 34 der Billboard Hot 100 und wurde
weltweit millionenfach gehört. Auch Here With Me (2023) wurde ein globaler Erfolg.
Ursprünglich als leidenschaftlicher Fortnite-Streamer bekannt, suchte der gebürtige David Burke nach Musik
für seinen Gaming-Kanal. Da seine Videos immer wieder Copyright-Strikes erhielten, schlug seine Mutter
vor, eigene Songs zu schreiben – also begann er kurzerhand, Musik im Kleiderschrank seiner Schwester

eleganten 2-LP-Vinyl-Edition, die alle Texte und Essays in einer hochwertig gedruckten Beilage enthält.
Tractus legt den Schwerpunkt auf Arvo Pärt-Kompositionen, in denen die Klangfarben von Chor und
Streichorchester verschmelzen. Es überwiegen neue Fassungen seiner Stücke mit fokussierten Aufführungen des Tallinner Kammerorchesters und des Estnischen Philharmonischen Kammerchors unter der Leitung
von Tõnu Kaljuste, die zum aufmerksamen und konzentrierten Zuhören einladen. Schon in der Eröffnungskomposition Littlemore Tractus, die von Reflexionen aus einer Predigt von John Henry Newman
ausgeht, schwingt der Gedanke von Veränderung, Verklärung und Erneuerung mit und gibt den Ton für
eine Aufnahme vor, deren Charakter davon definiert wird, Bilanz zu ziehen, nach innen zu schauen und
sich mit der Vergangenheit zu versöhnen. Zu den Kompositionen gehören Littlemore Tractus, Greater
Antiphons, Cantique des degrés, Sequentia, L’abbé Agathon, These Words... und Veni creator. Eine tiefgründige Neubearbeitung von Vater unser für Chor, Streicher und Klavier beschließt das Album. Das im
vergangenen Jahr in Tallinn aufgenommene und von Manfred Eicher produzierte Album Tractus setzt die
Reihe der maßgebenden Arvo Pärt-Alben fort, die 1984 mit dem epochalen Tabula rasa bei ECM New

Mit verschiedenen Ensembles wie seinem World Saxophone Quartet hat US-Saxofonist David Murray Jazz
und Avantgarde zusammengebracht und das Genre über Jahrzehnte hinweg immer wieder maßgeblich
geprägt. Letztes Jahr hat er mit Pianistin Marta Sanchez, Bassist Luke Stewart und Schlagzeuger Russell Carter ein neues Quartett gegründet und einen Vertrag mit dem legendären Coltrane-Label Impulse!

Für sein dortiges Label-Debüt hat er sich von Musik inspirieren lassen, die älter als die Menschheit ist:
dem Vogelgesang. “Birdly Serenade” ist Teil des Grammy-ausgezeichneten “Birdsong Project”, sechs der
acht Originale komponierte Murray in einem Künstler-Retreat in den Adirondack Mountains, inmitten
von Seen, Wäldern und endlosem Himmel. Am Anfang des Schreibprozesses standen drei Gedichte von
Francesca Cinelli, die auf dem Album auch mit einer Spoken-Word-Performance zu hören ist. Weiterer
Gaststar ist Sängerin Ekep Nkwelle.

Mit der Re-Edition erscheint „Hair“ nun in remasterter und restaurierter Form. In aufwändiger Detailarbeit
wurden alle Stücke des Original-Albums von Boas langjährigem Wegbegleiter Eroc (der auch als Drummer auf „Hair“ vertreten ist) aufgefrischt und wiederhergestellt. Ergänzt wird die erweiterte Neuauflage
durch das exklusive Bonus-Album „The Honeymoon Files“, auf dem elf brandneue Tracks im Spirit von
„Hair“ enthalten sind. Die „Flitterwochen“-Songs entstanden zwischen 2023 und 2024 gemeinsam mit dem
bewährten Co-Producer David Vella in Phillip Boas Studio auf Malta.

For a project which made its debut in 2024 with next to no fanfare nor hype, rush2theUnknown managed to capture the attention and the imagination of a number of notable DJs across genres, tempos and timezones in their debut year. From legendary chillers Kruder & Dorfmeister picking up on the more Japanese VGM influenced side of their music, techno DJs like Courtesy, Anastassia Kristensen and Nastia drawn towards their more celestial-tinged breakbeat offerings and key support coming in from many trailblazers past and present of the genres that shaped the duo thirty years back. Early support for the Yugawara EP has already seen responses from and tracks from the EP played by DJs like Machinedrum, DJ Flight, Addison Groove, dBridge, Gyrofield, Joakim, I:Cube, Courtesy, Cici, Sakura Tsuruta and more in clubs and on radio like NTS, Kool FM, Rinse FM and BBC Radio One, and BBC 6 Music.

Born from a journey out of Tokyo to the seaside town of Yugawara in the northeastern end of Izu Peninsula, the EP channels the energy, spirit and mathematically impossible coincidences that seem to come with each adventure the duo has in that part of Japan. Each morning the duo would leave their makeshift studio and wander across the hills of Yugawara. Be it a random encounter, a conversation or mental picture sparked by the visual scenery before them, new tracks came to life each day. As with their Diskotopia debut, each EP is a mix of the myriad influences the duo have accumulated since their teenage years living on outer ends of the Pacific Ocean.

From the technicolour aqua-jungle of "View From Fuua" which bursts with Logical Progression era Good Looking Records exo-planet optimism, through to the EPs closer, "Zuio-ji" a track that owes as much of a debt to the ancient Japanese court music of gagaku, as it does the 1960s soundtrack work of composer Toru Takemitsu and the jidaigeki infused breakbeat experiments of a mid 90s Rupert Parkes. Shades, tones and hues plucked from CD-ROM era "Visual Scenes" 80s CM Music and the techno-animism of synth-heavy anime soundtracks can be found on the EPs more VGM-leaning excursions "光のトンネル" and "夜明けの真鶴岬" whereas tracks like "Physical Reality" continue the question posed on their debut:What would a breakbeat tradition look and sound like, had it been forged a billion light years away?

Meet Me in the Garden is a richly textured exploration of love, loss, and renewal. Co-produced by Felix Bloxsom (SIA, Genesis Owusu), Daniel Mougerman (The Bamboos), and Rita Satch herself, and mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Ben Kane (D’Angelo, Emily King), the album features contributions from some of Naarm/Melbourne’s finest, alongside a sweeping 12-piece string orchestra.
Blending smooth soul, contemporary R&B, orchestral flourishes, and stacked harmonies reminiscent of D’Angelo and Bilal, the album unfolds with cinematic beauty and emotional depth. It opens with a stirring string prelude by Mougerman before transitioning into the dreamy title track. Standouts include the meditative Breathe, the funk-fuelled Joyride, and Warrior Princess - a heartfelt tribute to Satch’s late grandmothers that helped her process grief through song.
Rooted in personal loss and spiritual growth, the album draws from Satch’s Kabbalistic studies and her belief in reunion beyond this life. With its timeless soul and modern edge, Meet Me in the Garden is a bold, soul-stirring debut that leaves a lasting impression.

Born in the darkest days of a rainy summer, DRUUGG brews a raw garage rock, tinted with noise and romance under psychotropic influence. The trio, which quickly became a quartet, recorded its first tracks at the famous KOKO studio near Liège. In March 2023, nearly a year and a half after its formation, the band began performing, honing their skills from Wallonia to Brussels, through northern France and the Netherlands. Guitars keep screaming, walls shake, minds are marked, and nothing will ever be the same. In early 2024, after releasing their first EP, DRUUGG embarks on a crusade that will take them to Flanders and France. After spreading the gospel of FUZZ, the members retreat to their homeland to record their debut album, which will be available in spring 2025 through the Brussels label "EXAG' Records". In this world of chaos and illusion, DRUUGG is the ultimate cure that will lead you to illumination.

Formed by Sandra Coutinho (bass and vocals), Rosália Munhoz (vocals), Ana Machado (guitar), and Edgard Scandurra (drums), the group stood out for their rebellious attitude, incisive lyrics, and raw sound that blended punk, post-punk, and experimental elements. Mercenárias is an iconic band in the history of Brazilian punk and post-punk. They gained global recognition after being included in several compilations outside Brazil. Their debut album, "Cadê as Armas?" (1986), is considered one of the most important records in Brazilian music history. Three years earlier, they recorded their first demo tape at the studio of the funk/pop band Placa Luminosa. The recording turned out great, it's the best you can wait from a Brazilian punk record: raw, aggressive, yet catchy, well-played and produced. Recommended for fans of The Slits, DNA, Malaria!, Kleenex, and Minutemen, this early recording by Mercenárias is more punk than their albums, but still super catchy. The fact that the soundtrack is preceding the actual film is part of Glover’s strategy: He wants listeners to work to figure out what they’re listening to. “The soundtrack forces the audience to participate in a way that I don't feel like most things force you to participate,” he says. “It forces you to have an imagination. I already see people being like, 'This is very cinematic, this must be the part that... This feels like a credit sequence.' A lot of stuff feels flat because it's not asking you to participate. Art used to be you had to participate on some level and have some sort of thought process on it. You can't just be like, 'Oh, this is mid.'” Even without the benefit of the full visuals, these 17 tracks make for a satisfying swan song that synthesizes what came before with fresher ideas gleaned from the threshold of finality.
