Das neue Album ist eine eigenwillige Erkundung und eine von Herzen kommende Würdigung mit der ganzen Intuition, Intimität und dem Humor von vier festen Freunden, die sich ihrem 20-jährigen Bandbestehen nähern. Die Absicht hinter "Megafauna" ist von Anfang an klar. Zwei Gitarren, ein Bass und ein Schlagzeug, allesamt in einer Woche aufgenommen, erwachen in einem Endorphinrausch der Zusammenarbeit und des Miteinanders nach der physischen und psychischen Wildnis der Isolation zu überschäumendem Leben. Die Leadsingle "Do Mór" ist eine absurd verspielte Kollision aus unbeschwerten Gitarrenhooks, mühelosen Jazz-Synkopen und der triumphalen Rückkehr von ASIWYFAs unnachahmlicher Wall-of-Sound-Verzerrung, während der Eröffnungstrack "North Coast Megafauna" als Hymne für das gesamte Album und vielleicht auch für eine wiedererstarkte Band dient, die die freudig-schockierende Konfrontation ihres Sounds stolz auf ihren Ärmeln trägt. An anderer Stelle stehen Introspektion und düstere Sentimentalität im Mittelpunkt, wobei das Downtempo-Stück "Years Ago" eine bemerkenswerte dynamische Tiefe bietet. Joe Ely präsentiert sein erstes Road-Album Driven to Drive, dreiundzwanzig Alben und mehrere Millionen Meilen nachdem er zum ersten Mal auf die
Reise ging. Die Sammlung von Songs über und inspiriert von motorisierten Reisen wurde von Ely zusammengestellt, der Mitte der 1970er Jahre wie
ein wirbelnder Tornado über die flachen Ebenen des Llano Estacado in Westtexas fegte und eine legendäre Band anführte, die zu sehr Rock für
Country und zu sehr Country für Rock war. Der wilde, offene Honky-Tonk-Roadhouse-Sound der Joe Ely Band bescherte ihrer Heimatstadt Lubbock
den ersten Musikhelden seit Buddy Holly.
Das Projekt setzt sich aus Aufnahmen zusammen, die über mehrere Jahrzehnte hinweg in den Spur Studios, seinem Heimstudio außerhalb von Austin,
gemacht wurden. Unterstützt wird er dabei von den Musikern/Nachbarn Joel Guzman am Akkordeon, dem Keyboarder Bill Guinn, dem Sänger Eddie
Beethoven und dem Geiger Richard Bowden. Letztes Jahr im The Zone in Dripping Springs, Texas, fügte Jeff Plankenhorn seine Gitarre zu drei Stücken
hinzu und der Tontechniker Pat Manske, der Driven to Drive gemastert hat, steuerte das Schlagzeug bei.

In 1995, English rock band Ned’s Atomic Dustbin released their third and final studio album with their original lineup; Brainbloodvolume. It spawned two singles: “All I Ask Of Myself Is That I Hold Together” and “Stuck”. The album embraces a variety of styles, stepping beyond their straight-up thrash/pop roots and creating an exciting new sound. In 1995, after an extensive US tour in support of the new album, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin split up in New York City following what would be their final show. Brainbloodvolume is available on vinyl as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on silver & black vinyl and includes an insert.

This album was a self imposed ambitious project for us. Something to kick in the creative flow. The last few years, having been a challenging time in general, felt like a good time for a pivot. The last two albums were so guitar and keyboard centric, I wanted a weird and fun set of parameters for us to work with. I demo’d everything at home on cassette 4 track (harkening back to simpler times) using drum loops, and just had at it 'til I had a pile of “songs”. Tom and I chose one sound each using synths and created a range of 3 octaves of that sample, then loaded them into Roland SPD-SX samplers and learned the transcribed songs using drum sticks. The idea was to change the way we wrote and to have 4 people along the front of the stage essentially playing percussion. So no guitar, no keys. As we were recording I kept thinking how the sounds, when paired up, sounded a bit like brass. So, we added a saxophone horn section to round out the horniness of the sound with a bit of reedy bell tones. Thanks to Cansfis Foote & Brad Caulkins on tenor and Baritone saxophones :) Sort of a Dexy’s Midnight Runners meets Von LMO meets The Flesh Eaters meets the Screamers kinda punk junk. Poppy and hooky, heavy at times.. Sort of vacuous and maybe a bit sci-fi in sound. Boneheaded in riff and heady in lyrics. Recorded at Stu-Stu-Studio by me on 8 track 1/4” tape . So pretty hot and raw. Lots to write about today. A lot of these lyrics were taken from things people said in passing about taking on life right now that stuck with me. Things that made me reflect. Things that made me laugh. Things that made me WTF. Some folks are kind, genuine & give you love and energy. Some are greedy manipulative ghouls who hang off your veins. You must be strong, composed and take care of yourself. Be self aware and check your mind for cracks. Learn to relax and be well. There are moments of beauty and redemption. Continue As Amery is the debut album by Montreal-based artist Amery. Formerly recording under the moniker Alpen Glow, Continue As Amery sees the songwriter step out into a bold, colourful world full of pop hooks, snagging feelings of abandon and the mornings after. Amery Sandford began releasing as Alpen Glow in 2020 after years playing in punk groups in Newfoundland and as half of Montreal pop duo Born At Midnite (Arbutus). Recorded in Montreal by David Carriere (TOPS, Marci), Patrick Holland, and Kristian North, Continue As Amery is a blast of melodic joie de vivre. On her debut Sandford brings her punk and DIY credentials into sharp focus on 8 perfect pop odes to city living, making mistakes and figuring it out as you go along. Suffuse with powerful imagery and an almost uncanny talent at spinning out hooks brimming with humour and spirit, Amery’s soundworld is informed by friendship, experience and by her day job as a renowned illustrator and visual artist. Beginning Alpen Glow in a spirit of fun and now shedding the alias, Amery’s ready to hotwire the nite. Each song is rich with story. Mountain FM, named for the radio station in Sandford’s home town in the mountains of Alberta, launches into a tale of speeding, blasting the radio too loud, the giddy burning of rubber with no care in the world to slow you down. Featuring live band members Sarah Harris, Jack Bielli, and Frank Climenhage, the singer bristles to get out of her stifling hometown while lamenting the wide eyed adventurer who left for the big city. On Hotwire The Nite, Amery is out on the town, with imagery loaded with the night’s promise. Amery sings “Black candle / Dripping intel / Dagger hanging by an emerald handle / Holy roller that I just can’t have without my hand on an old flame,” diving in and out of fantasy and desire over a pulsating banger. Moments like these feel like a thesis on aural pleasure, with the production sleek and silky playfulness persisting throughout. Spirit Is Broken is a pep talk the artist is giving herself in the mirror. Only Amery could write something so joyous and harmonically glorious while singing about low ebbs. Every line shines with humour, the chorus starting with an exasperated “oh my god, alright” and the refrain nailing the bittersweet feeling of enjoying feeling down. It’s a mood continued on slow groover Ennui, a melter striking out at being stuck; same parties, same faces, daring to dream beyond. As an illustrator and visual artist, Sandford’s images detail dancing instrument-clad animals, party scenes that nod to historical image making heavy hitters like Hieronymus Bosch and Ludwig Bemelmans. On Miracles, Amery deals in bold pop production and her yearning to escape into fantasy, given wings by Korgs and drum machines. On Rocker Blues, originally by French artist FR David, Amery brings the heavy with synth-guitar and an undeniable chorus. C9 is in some ways the album’s centrepiece, a mid tempo funk jam and duet with Montreal stalwart Fireball Kid, it’s the party just out of reach on the horizon. Mit ästhetischer und auditiver Inspiration durch alte japanische Autowerbung, die salute stundenlang in YouTube-Archiven recherchierte, entwickelte er ein Konzept für das Album, bei dem sie den legendären 1985er Toyota MR 2 W1 in einem Rennen namens „TRUE MAGIC“ fahren. Dieses sehr visuelle Konzept half dabei, den Sound des Albums voranzutreiben und dem Album ein Gefühl von treibender Dynamik zu geben. Die Albumankündigung folgt auf seine allererste Nominierung bei den MOBO Awards 2024 in der Kategorie „Best Electronic/ Dance Act“ nach der Veröffentlichung von salutes EP, „Shield“, die von The FADER als „verträumt“ und von Clash als „Surging with spring-like energy“ gelobt wurde. „Shield“ folgte auf die früheren Singles „Joy“ und „Therapy“ und wurde von Künstlern wie Four Tet, DJ Seinfeld, Floating Points, Mall Grab, Daphni, Skrillex, Fred Again und anderen bestätigt, was ihn zu einer Kultsensation machte und die Bühne für ein größeres Album bereitete. salute wurde mit 18 Jahren in die britische Clubszene eingeführt, nachdem er nach Brighton und dann nach Manchester gezogen war. Dort kam er mit der Clubkultur in Berührung, die sich zuvor nur auf Videos bei YouTube und Boiler Room beschränkt hatte. Showing a strong willing to integrate elements from the mainstream world in his creative process, the EP opens with the contemplative and emotive 'Stargazing'. You're walking down Champs Elysées, looking at the sky. In a fraction of a second, everything starts to move in slow motion. You're passing out, your eyes stuck on moving stars. It was all a dream, they say.

As you wake up, you're sitting next to a glossy club. 'UnDcided' is blasting out of that neon door. You get lost in its colorful and trippy intro before your head starts to feel the vibrations of its wobbly baseline.

You need a cocktail to get your night started. You enter the restaurant next door. 'Welcome!' is playing in the background. That's Patrick Holland on the guitars you just tried to Shazam! Like the missing piece is not missing anymore.

One too many drinks - you got lost in the groove of the night. It's time to go home. As you leave the club, the sounds of 'Bblluurrryy' are floating in the air, every noise you hear melts into the music. Everything looks hazy. Nothing feels the same anymore.

Seit über 20 Jahren zeigt diese chinesische Punkband der Obrigkeit den Stinkefinger. Derkompromisslose Sound wurde schnell über das Reich der Mitte hinaus bekannt und erreichte Europa und die USA. Nach nur 2 Alben, 10jähriger Pause und Best Of-Compilation erscheint nun endlich das dritte Studioalbum und es wurde verdammt nochmal Zeit! Ein Highlight der Bandhistory war der Auftritt 2009 als Special Guests auf der Chinatour von Sham 69. Kein Zufall, denn The NONAME liefern besten 80er UK Punk mit blitzschnellen Beats und eingängigen Refrains. "Believe In Chaos" klingt wie ein Tribute an The Clash, aber es geht auch härter und heftiger. Urgesteine der alternativen Musikszene aus aller Welt unterstützen die Chinakracher mit ihren Impulsen und bringen neue Nuancen ein. "Waiting For The Day" entstand zusammen mit der antifaschistischen spanischen Punkband Non Servium , die schon ihr 25-jähriges Bestehen feiern konnte. Die seit 2003 existierende Street Hardcoreband Acidez aus Mexiko rütteln mit "Anti" auf gegen Rassismus und fordern kreativen Widerstand. Aus Amiland kommen Big D & Kids Table, gegründet 1995, die bei "Scream To The World" besten Bostoner Skapunk beisteuern. Sie liefern zurmusikalischen Faust in die Fresse einen Sprechgesang mit fast poetischem Text. Melodiöser gehts bei "Warrior Of Faith" mit der Pariser Punk und Powerpop-Band "The Choices" zur Sache. Hymnenartig verarbeiten die schwedischen Streetpunks Perkele aus Göteborg, 1993 ins Leben gerufen, bei "Go Down In History" ihren Oi! zum Kampf gegen Unterdrückung. Kein Titel könnte besser zu den Songtexten passen als "Fortress Besieged". Ein schon marodes Unrechtsregime wird solange belagert bis es zusammenbricht. Der Aufruf zum Aufstand ist ein Schrei nach Veränderung und Freiheit aber auch eine Feier der Lebensfreude in einem chaotischen und aufregenden Dasein. Wer dieses Album versäumt verpasst ein Stück Punkgeschichte.

Die Ramonas sind die wahrscheinlich beste Tribut-Band der legendären The Ramones, den New Yorker Urväter des Punks. 2004 in Großbritannien gegründet, versteht es die ausschließlich aus Musikerinnen bestehende Band den ultimativen Garage-Punk-Rock-Sound von 1976 perfekt einzufangen und bei energiegeladenen Auftritten auf die Bühne zu bringen. Getreu ihres Mottos "Touring, touring is never borning" haben den Ramonas ihre ständigen Tourneen in den letzten Jahren den Ruf einer der am härtesten arbeitenden Band innerhalb der Szene eingebracht. Zu Recht: denn seit 2016 schreiben Die Ramonas auch eigene Stücke, die sie in ihren Shows unter die Ramones-Klassiker mischen. Deutlich erkennbar am Bühnenoutfit von Sängerin Lisa: während sie bei den Ramones-Covern ganz im Stil von Joey Ramone die obligatorische Sonnenbrille trägt, nimmt sie diese bei der Präsentation der eigenen Songs ab. Für die neue LP "High on life" hat die Band eine grandiose Auswahl dieser Eigenkompositionen zusammengestellt, die mühelos den 76ger-Geist ihrer Vorbilder einfangen. Vom 60s-infizierten, ungestümen Garage-Rock, den The Horrors auf ihrem 2007er-Debüt zelebrierten, ist ihr nunmehr drittes Album "Skying" meilenweit entfernt. Schon an der Länge der Songs lässt sich der Wandel ablesen: Auf "Skying" gibt es kein Stück mehr, das kürzer als vier Minuten wäre. Stattdessen schreitet die fünfköpfige Londoner Band weiterhin auf dem Pfad voran, den sie mit ihrem für den Mercury Prize nominierten zweiten Album "Primary Colours" von 2009 eingeschlagen hat: elegische und ausladende Kompositionen von beeindruckender Intensität. Das Tempo ist noch reduzierter, befremdende Soundelemente bleiben weitestgehend außen vor und eine fast feierliche Erhabenheit wird zum Leitmotiv dieses akustischen Glanzstücks. Zur völligen Entfaltung kommt der Sound der Band auf der Single "Still Life", die wie die Hymne einer versunkenen Popära wirkt, in der sich der Wave-Sound der 80er aufmachte, die Stadien zu erobern. Auch Stücke wie "I Can See Through You" oder "Endless Blue" spielen mit musikalischen Zitaten - ohne dabei in die Retrofalle zu tapsen.

Thought Gang wurde nach der Ausstrahlung der zweiten Staffel von ,Twin Peaks" geboren, als die Hauptproduktion des Kinofilms ,Fire Walk With Me" gerade erst begonnen hatte. Das esoterische Jazz-Side-Projekt von David Lynch und Angelo Badalamenti entwickelte sich ursprünglich aus dem Slow Cool Jazz, der die ,Twin Peaks" TV Serie mitgeprägt hatte. Thought Gang erblühte zu einem experimentelleren Sound: horizontlose Aussichten auf LSD-getränkten Freejazz, geschnürt mit gesprochenen Wortnarrativen und ausgedehnten Geräuschkulissen. Der Soundtrack zu ,Fire Walk With Me" präsentierte zwei vorläufige Tracks ("A Real Indication" und "The Black Dog Runs at Night") von einem Album, das von Mai 1992 bis 1993 stückweise aufgenommen und zweieinhalb Jahrzehnte lang nicht veröffentlicht wurde. In den folgenden Jahren tauchten Fragmente und Arbeitsversionen von Thought Gang-Material immer wieder auf: in einem von Lynch geführten Adidas-Werbespot; in Szenen in ,Hotel Room", ,Mulholland Drive" und ,Inland Empire"; in gelöschten Szenen von ,Fire Walk With Me" und am meisten in Showtimes dritter Staffel von ,Twin Peaks". "Frank 2000" und "Summer Night Noise" sowie ein alternativer Instrumental-Mix von "Logic and Common Sense" unterlegen Szenen der dritten Staffel und helfen, den ausgesprochen experimentellen, rauschhaften Soundtrack der Serie zu definieren. David Lynch über Thought Gang: "It's sort of like jet-fueled jazz in a weird way, but it's all based on stories. It's Modern Music."

On the flipside, we catch up with Stockport staple BS, who puts down the Pet Nat, swaps the grape vape for a gary and gets stuck into a serious slice of cosmic chug.

Slo-mo and sleazy, this arpeggiator heavy heater sees a crooning 80's vocal surf a mechanical groove purpose made for backwards dancers and eyeball lickers. The combination of wild emoting and synthetic drama is pretty much everything, but just wait for that breakdown.

The Dutch-American legend Orlando Voorn is back on the block with a very, very yummy 4-tracker that is masterfully channeling his deep love for Detroit techno and Chicago house. “No Cellphones” recalls Green Velvet’s classic Relief Records sound, applying a sinister bouncer voice that commands everybody to put their f***ing cellphones away. It’s quite a tantalising idea to drop this tune at an Afterlife party. “Raise The Bar” is a primo minimal heater for prime time usage, classic Voorn intensity through and through. The flipside harbors two gorgeous, summerly house tracks with plenty of soul for those sun flooded festival floors. Orlando Voorn reigns supreme.

Malmö’s Mod Sens arrives on Programm LDN with an electric intersection of soundsystem styles and taut techno and electro. Pushing inventive, bassweight dance music through his Melt club night in the city he calls home, the wildly talented Swedish producer brings an international outlook to his subtly crafted workouts.

“These four tracks were all made at a time in Malmö when electro was completely dominating the underground scene,” says Mod Sens. “That had a strong influence on the creation of these tracks, but I was definitely more urgent to create my take on ‘UK’ Sounds.”

The sound on Misperceptions EP is introspective by design, cast in melancholic pads which balance the rugged impact of the crafty drums and upfront low-end. Mod Sens himself describes exploring the tension between wanting to run and feeling ‘stuck’, and that yearning sensation culminates in four elevated cuts that uphold Programm’s commitment to advancements in club music.

Visual director Blackwall and graphic designer Alfie Allen responded to the tangible mood of the EP, resulting in an accompanying visualiser and sleeve design which round out the emotion Mod Sens was reaching for while working on the music. As a complete package, it’s an audio-visual statement which leaves a lingering impression, as any art worth making

Sunk in quicksand, doused in prosecco and soundwaves of glitches and Croatian choons, Bolka

is stuck in the raw state of desire. This love came into being under the sad ceilings, bearing traces
of fantastically naive melodies shredded by claws of intruding noises of the artist's debut EP.
And yet, radical sensitivity and optimism on the new EP do not remain just on the beach.
Žiadzasamy (loosely translated as Yearningforus) include love songs about love read in cards,
about overcoming insecurity, about scratching up the slippery walls of reality towards the dream
source of warmth that only SHE possesses.
Syrupy pop tunes in "nech sa ti páčim" ("i hope you like me") are led by a nursery rhyme about
the complex embrace of infatuation, from the head down to the shoulders, knees and toes of the
desired person. The sound wizard of peculiarities goes by the motto "let anything I wish for
come true", whether it's his white buttocks shining in the dark sea or him sweeping past barefoot
in search of seafood delicacies, and the same is heard in his music where euphoric and childish
moods sink arbitrarily to the depths of corroded and distorted rhythms of anxiety. "A smutek
utek" ("and the sadness is gone"), though, sets a new direction for the Bolka's musical piece;
after a slow mo deflation of the balloon of hopes, after wallowing in oozy and sticky blend of
delirious melodies, Bolka gets to spin the wheel of the real Balkan soap opera.

"More, mám ťa veľmi rád" ("sea/man, i like you very much") is the pinnacle of absolute
infiltration and absorption with infatuation and suddenly, the amusing nods to stereotypical
Croatian hits make it clear that all the joy and high spirits do not stem from holiday idleness. In
žiadzasamy, Bolka indulges in the ideal notion of love that is closer to reality with each passing
kilometer, impatiently speeding up the Latin tempo in the hyper-pop escalation in order to
venture into the most radical decision – that all will end well.
Žiadzasamy is hedonism injected right into one's vein, an ashtray always aglow with a lit
cigarette and a musical burst of new-born love that sets the Bolka's sound world on a single
course: from siesta to fiesta, and so on and on.

Rising from the fiercely DIY Philadelphia underground, CARLY COSGROVE graft achingly vulnerable lyrics atop a bed of mathy rhythms, intricate guitar work and a penchant for indie-rock cool meets emo authenticity. Their debut album, 2022's See You In Chemistry, was the sound of figuring life out in real time, tracing personal growth through anxiety, depression, and self-actualization - heavy subjects for a band originally formed as a low-stress side-project stopgap in 2018.

The quest for the answers to life's big questions is once again front and center on the band's second album, THE CLEANEST OF HOUSES ARE EMPTY, as Naylor, bassist Helen Bars and drummer Tyler Kramer find themselves face to face with the chronic emotional struggles of life in the modern age.

From the stop-start polyrhythms of first single "You Old Dog" and garage-rock sheen of "Random Dancing" and "What Are You, A Cop," which sounds like Motion City Soundtrack filtering "Everlong" through their idiosyncratic rock tilt, The Cleanest Of Houses is the type of record Carly Cosgrove simply couldn't have made last time - not musically, and certainly not emotionally. They needed to live, through hard touring and harder life experiences.

Sugaray Rayford is a man with a message and a larger than life personality and voice to deliver it

Working with producer, songwriter Eric Corne for the past 3 albums, the soul-blues powerhouse has crafted an incendiary sound and narrative, combining classic soul melodies and funky R & B grooves with raw blues power.

The pair's first collaboration, 'Somebody Save Me', earned Rayford a 2020 Grammy nomination. Later that year he took home Blues Music Awards for 'Soul Blues Male Artist' and 'B.B. King Entertainer of the Year.' Rayford's follow up In Too Deep won a plethora of awards including the Blues Music Award for 'Soul Blues Album of the Year'.

His new release is entitled 'Human Decency'. The title track is a simple reminder that our similarities are stronger than our differences and in the end, there is no black or white or left or right, there are only hearts and minds.

About the leadoff single, "Run For Cover" a song that takes no prisoners, Q Magazine declares, "The bluesey soul of Rayford comes on full steam with this powerhouse single."

"We're calling people on their bullshit but we're having fun with them. That's my way. I'm gonna tell it to you straight but with love in my heart. I always bring some suga with the salt!" says Sugaray, bellowing with laughter.

An all-star cast lent their talents to the album, including guitarist Rick Holmstrom and singer Saundra Williams who are both from Mavis Staples's band, along with bassist Taras Prodaniuk (Lucinda Williams, Merle Haggard).
