Der Mann hinter der Maske, Jonathan Bree, kehrt mit seinem sechsten Studioalbum "Don't Call It Love" zurück. "Don't Call It Love" kommt als Doppelalbum mit 17 Songs und ist ein erotisches Konzeptalbum, das sich mit Sexualität auseinandersetzt und Kollaborationen mit Frauen aus den Bereichen Musik, Film, Fotografie und Tanz enthält. "Don't Call It Love" klingt wie der düstere Soundtrack zu einer versteckten, mit Samt ausgekleideten Bar in einem schummrigen Keller - mal verspielt und verführerisch, mal beunruhigend und provokativ. Brees neue Songs setzen sich mit dem gesamten Spektrum der Sexualität und ihrer emotionalen Last auseinander - ein Album, das sich weigert, wegzuschauen, und sein Herz buchstäblich auf der Zunge trägt. Fans haben diesen neuen Sound bereits mit den düster-nostalgischen Klängen von New Order und Siouxsie & The Banshees verglichen, wobei Brees musikalische Entwicklung über die Jahrzehnte hinweg endlich ihr von den 80ern durchtränktes, melancholisches Ziel erreicht hat: ein melodramatisches Meisterwerk raffinierter Sleaze-Musik. Jonathans charakteristische Orchesterarrangements sind nach wie vor vorhanden und verbinden diesmal eine karge, düster angehauchte Noir-Ästhetik mit filmischer Instrumentierung und seinem grüblerischen Bariton. "Don't Call It Love ist zudem Jonathans bisher kollaborativstes Album, auf dem eine außergewöhnliche internationale Riege von Frauen einige der entscheidenden Momente des Albums mit ihren einzigartigen Stimmen bereichert. Die bei den Fans beliebte Princess Chelsea kehrt für drei beeindruckende Songs zurück ("Live To Dance", "Part Time Love", "Slow"); Neuseelands bestgehütetes Musikgeheimnis Rachel Clarke bewegt sich bei "Savour My Love" von intimer Zurückhaltung zu schwindelerregender Intensität; die französische Fotografin und Künstlerin Eloïse Labarbe-Lafon liefert auf "Chameleon" eine charaktervolle Gesangsdarbietung, die an die Tradition von Jane Birkin anknüpft; während die französische Musikerin und Schauspielerin Adah Dylan auf dem Titeltrack zu hören ist und den Leadgesang mit direkter, schnörkelloser Klarheit trägt: "don't call it love_ when we fuck." J Dilla passed away 20 years ago. Metro himself paid tribute to the production master.

"Donutroit" is a meticulously crafted tribute to James Dewitt Yancey. Reinterpretations, reworks, and original compositions – a total of 24 tracks produced by Metro, who pays tribute to the legend with this album. Maciej returns with the album after a somewhat lengthy break, but he does it with a bang. This kind of hip-hop with soul elements has been unheard of in Polish music for a long time. This is the first Polish full-length tribute to Dilla. The guests are few, but they are impressive. Emade himself plays drums on two tracks, and Immortal Onion reworked one of James's iconic recordings.

"Lost in the spinning sound" is the 12th studio album by The Dining Rooms (Stefano Ghittoni and Cesare Malfatti) who, over the years, have delved into an original style that balances cinematic atmospheres with funk, dub and ambient music. Here they have invited just one vocal guest, Chiara Castello from I'm Not a Blonde, for a collaboration that delivers a slow, nocturnal, orchestral, very minimalist album, oscillating between folk and blues, with deeply meaningful lyrics that explore the intricate nature of interpersonal relationships. The album cover, an illustration by Sara Vivan, conveys the idea of metamorphosis and invites us to dive into the sounds that surround and protect us. This is also the main message of the album: losing ourselves in order to protect ourselves a little. Drifting along and finding new, safer and more peaceful shores.

Scotland's incomparable and influential Arab Strap are back with their ninth studio album Half-Told Tales, due for release via Rock Action Records on 4th September 2026: almost exactly 30 years since the beloved duo’s first ever single, The First Big Weekend, was released. The follow-up to 2024's acclaimed I'm totally fine with it (y) don't give a fuck anymore (y) , Half-Told Tales is rich with Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton’s trademark wit and dark humour, whilst creating moments from quiet brooding to a self-described “disco-metal incantation that might make you dance” . "On a hot Ibizan summer the Rare Two fellas spent a period of 33 days on the island making tracks in a house garage with a couple of pieces of affordable gear and a whole lot of talent. We managed to create 33 tracks often burning them on CD to take to djs like Ricardo Villalobos at Amnesia and seeing the instant reaction of the crowd. We are a mega team of same mentality dudes who create from the heart breaking all rules and getting music done for a purpose. The Tripmastaz and Sneak Team is one to expect many great dance floor killers. As we call them Guttah Styles!

Recently I found these projects and since they were done on just a laptop and cheap small speakers, I gave them proper analog mixing and mastering.

All tracks remain exactly the same form and arrangement as they were originally done, including track Aww Lawd, that was featured on R. Villalobos BBC Radio 1 Pete Tongs mix back in 2018.

Mike Grinser at Mandmade Mastering did the lacquer cut and made it sound very crisp and loud a lot like it would've been cut in the 90s.

Transient Response is a storytelling of moods in motion, from city to city, situation to situation from China-born, London-based artist Guohan. Side A opens with ‘Don’t Forget Your Hiss’, a funky dusty groove built around the repeated phrase ‘带走我的’ gradually unfolding into ‘带走我和你的故事’ meaning ‘bring along the stories of yours and mine’. ‘First Light’ follows as a percussive MPC-driven slow burner, capturing a swirling summer day in the studio.
Side B starts with ‘Seeds of Tomorrow’, a mellow drive through thoughts with a broken groove constructed with drum machine, djembe and shaker. Growing synths and bassline from the analogue devices keep your head nodding and feet moving. Backed with a remix from Xiamen-based artist Knopha.

After more than 7 years of silence, Marvin Zeyss returns with his new vinyl EP “Piece of Me” on his hometown Nuremberg label Beatwax Records, delivering exactly the sound his fans have been missing for so long.
