The Light Brigade is a new collaborative project from Belfast DJ and music producer, David Holmes. Shuffle The Deck sees David Holmes join forces with Keith Tenniswood (Radioactive Man/Two Lone Swordsmen), for a track that pays tribute to their friend Andrew Weatherall. This cut is aimed for hedonistic, sweaty nights on the dancefloor.

On Side two David works with Michael Andrews, who he previously collaborated with for his 2023 album, Blind On A Galloping Horse. This time we are treated to a swirling, sonic adventure that draws you in and takes you on a psychedelic voyage.

This newly formed and already brilliant label is back with more previously unreleased instrumentals that bring a different twist and dancefloor edge to classic sounds from the rock and indie world. First up we get a subtle edit of 'Sound and Vision' which has a nice fat and funky bassline bouncing beneath the splashy drums as nice acoustic guitar melodies ring out next to glistening retro-future pads. It's a cosmic trip that oozes soul then things slow down on the flip with 'Young Americans'. This one is a nice go-slow instrumental with funky and expressive horn work taking the lead over the fat-bottomed drums and bass.

Who doesn't love a bit of sophisticated soul? We certainly do and it's always good to hear some reworks of the soul great's finest cuts for the dancefloor. And that's what we have here on a new 7" that opens with a disco version of 'Cherish the Day' and doesn't go hard, instead building in some gentle drums and lo-fi melodies, swooning vocals and a mystical late night sense of romance. On the flip, we get a lovers rock version of 'Nothing Can Come Between Us' which adds plenty of lovely guitar lines to bring that island vibe while the shuffling drums lock you in gently.

Hypnotism I is a new album from Foundation that the artist himself says has been a cherished part of his work since shortly after his previous work Mountain Ambient IV. We're told that its creation was a slow, immersive process that unfolded over months, with each layer evolving patiently. eve is the debut collaboration between Past Inside the Present label head zake and Benoît Pioulard captures the serene magic of a quiet December night. Spanning four side-length tracks, the album grew from a decade of sound fragments all layered up "like family album photos." zake shaped the sonic base while Pioulard added textures with guitar, voice, dulcimer, melodica and synths. The title track evokes a wintry stillness with low swells and turntable crackles, while 'Frost' drifts on reverent vocals and shimmering drones. 'Pine' conveys forest mystery and 'Slept' closes with haunting loops and a delicate resolution like snowfall on an open field.

Conundrum Records proudly presents The Primitive Loops, a three-track EP from acclaimed Japanese techno producer Toru Ikemoto. Known for his uncompromising approach, Ikemoto delivers a set of stripped-down, functional tracks that dive deep into the darker, hypnotic side of techno. With throbbing low-end, urgent rhythms, and gritty textures, each track on this release embodies the signature Conundrum aesthetic.

Rounding out the EP, Southern California's own Lindsey Herbert reinterprets Don't Play 170 with her signature touch, layering vocals over a relentless beat that adds a fresh intensity to Ikemoto's original.

Sole Aspect takes us around the world and to the studios of artists based across Madrid, Switzerland, Los Angeles and Detroit on The Mystic Embrace EP. Opening it up is Ernes Joey & Robbin Hauz with 'U Should Know' (feat Shea Doll - Age Of Rage remix) which is a version by Dubbyman with some delightfully jazzy keeps, seductive deep house drums and aching vocals full of heart. The original is a stripped-back sound with less melodic luxuriousness but the still superb vocal front and centre. Dubbyman then mixes Klima Project's 'Sweetback' into a mid-tempo, cuddly back room deep house sound and Patrice Scott Reshapes it with some crystal-cut synth lines that bring cosmic charm.
