THE SOUTHSIDE SOUND SURGEONS - Calling All Dancers / Follow Me (To The Party) (7")

Flying into the new year with the return of The Southside Surgeons - the production team of WeeG & Si Cheeba on the “Echo-Labs” sub label (for collaborations in the Echo Chamber) - with another double header of clubwise 45 action

The A Side “Calling All Dancers” drops a Cosmic-Afro-Boogie sound laced with funky breaks - coming on like Dexter Wansel -vs- Manu Dibango - with a mid 1970s club feel and subtle up to date production.

It certainly lives up to its name, as a rallying call for people to hit the dancefloor, when it’s recently been aired on Test Press up and down the country !

The flipside “Follow Me…” takes you to a late 1970s Brasilian Block Party with a variation on a familiar bass line, cut up with brass stabs and old school rap vocals. It’s proving to be a great party starter with its head-nodding groove and funky chants.

Brooklyn-born David Forman was steeped in soul music and Brill Building songcraft in the early 1970s while earning his living as a Hollywood set builder. He developed a soul singing style through his friendship with Aaron Neville, with whom he used to sing and jam on his apartment rooftop. He met Jack Nitzsche through his work on the 1972 film Greaser’s Palace (for which Nitzsche created the soundtrack) and later asked Nitzsche to produce this album. Forman’s original record deal with Davis was shepherded by the critic Stephen Holden of Rolling Stone and later the New York Times, and later by Paul Nelson, also of Rolling Stone.Fun fact about Forman: He was an assistant to Phillip Petit on his daring tight rope walk between the twin towers in 1974. And Forman later became a jingle writer and wrote and sang the famous Tums theme song (“Tum tum-tum-tum, TUUUUMS."This release features remastered audio, a plethora of archival photos, and a 24-page booklet with a 5500-word essay from noted journalist and producer Joe Hagan, a staff writer at Vanity Fair and producer of the 2022 compilation 'Earl's Closet' for Light In The Attic. Dan O'Farrell & The Difference Engine's fourth album (recorded and produced by Andy Lewis ) arrives at the start of 2026 like a cold, sharp bucket of water in the face. Bracing and troubling - like a tongue returning to a sore tooth - these songs probe life's dark waters: loss of family, faith, community & self- confidence - but also remains empathetic and rousing, ultimately cathartic. Once you've scraped the bottom, the only way is up. Creation is always an act of joyful defiance. Based in Southampton, and formed from the ashes of John Peel-endorsed indie-band Accrington Stanley , the band bring layers of warmth and subtlety to the uncompromisingly lyrical alt-folk songs of Dan O'Farrell, English-teacher by day and angry, leftist complainer by night.

The original song was a single cut only in Japan at the time, and a Japanese Eurobeat cover by Wink in 1989 was also a hit. Disco Pogo - A Disco Pogo Tribute To LCD Soundsystem

The third instalment in the Disco Pogo Tribute series celebrates the best electronic post-punk band on the planet, LCD Soundsystem.

This follows the hugely successful Disco Pogo Tribute books on Daft Punk and Aphex Twin that have been reprinted numerous times.

As with both previous books the people behind Disco Pogo have a long-standing relationship with James Murphy, LCD Soundsystem and the wider DFA crew which gives them a unique insight into the band.

The book is edited by Disco Pogo editor Jim Butler and features interviews, essays and features from the best music journalists working today, alongside a timeline, family tree, gear and gig lists. There are also archive LCD Soundsystem features from Jockey Slut and Dummy magazine.

The book features an iconic cover portrait of James Murphy by unofficial/official LCD photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya, plus a huge amount of exclusive, never-before-seen photography from Ruvan, Tim Soter, Tim Saccenti and other photographers who have been close to LCD since the very beginning of their career.

The book is hardback, even chunkier than the previous books at 308 pages and is beautifully designed and printed with a (sound of) silver ribbon and spine cloth.

The book is the same size and format as the two previous books and will sit perfectly alongside them on any music lover's bookshelf.

Todd Terry presents Sound Design - Bounce To The Beat

The combination of Todd Terry and Hard Times is synonymous in the world of House Music. The legendary DJ/Producer, a true pioneer of the genre, was among the first US artists to play at the intimate, vibrant gatherings in the North of the UK in the early ‘90s. Forever linked by "A Night In The Life," the live mix released in 1995 that set a new benchmark for mix-tapes, it is a collaboration that has continually blossomed, forging a bond that remains strong over 30 years later.

1995 also saw Todd Terry make his first impact on the label with the seminal club smash "Bounce To The Beat." Following his chart breakthrough with 'Can You Party’ in ‘88, the legendary 'The Unreleased Project’ series, which spawned club hits such as “Jumpin’”, and just a few months ahead of topping the charts with his remix of Everything But The Girl’s ‘Missing’, label boss Steve Raine seized the perfect moment to bring his friend on
board at Hard Times Records with the signing of Bounce To The Beat. "I can still remember pressing play, hearing those beats for the very first time and thinking we had big track on our hands" says Raine. "It was our second release on the label, but it would be the track that firmly placed us at the forefront of the scene, both here in the UK and globally."

Hard Times & Todd Terry now revive 'Bounce To The Beat' with a 2024 reimagining, featuring two of house music’s most exciting young stars, delivering two powerful remixes that promise to dominate dancefloors this summer and beyond.

Dutch producer and Up The Stuss label head, Chris Stussy, takes the track on a '90s- inspired journey, blending progressive strings, high-energy bassline and original vocal, for an exhilarating ride. "I remember discovering Todd’s productions back in the days when I started to dig for that 90’s sound. He’s one of the artists that inspired me massively. He has proven that he owns the art of making timeless music as his productions are still being played till this day all across the globe. To be remixing ‘Bounce To The Beat’ is something special for me personally and I tried to give it a 90’s touch with a modern twist." says Chris.

London’s own Dan Shake offers a fresh twist with a 2Step-inspired remix, featuring an Armand-esque bassline that pulsates and evolves, building to an epic crescendo that is set to ignite mass hysteria on the dancefloor.

"Bounce To The Beat was actually one of the first records I bought when I started collecting house music. So to come back 15 years later and remix this iconic track for the legendary label Hard Times was both surreal and very, very fun," shares Dan.

Two exemplary reworks of Todd Terry presents Sound Design’s 'Bounce To The Beat'. For Vinyl and Digital release on Hard Times alongside the Original and ‘Tee’s Freeze Mix.’

YELLOW VINYL[24,33 €]

Re-issued! Ich präsentiere euch "How To Clean Everything".

Anjali Prashar-Savoie - Club Commons: Moving Bodies to Grow Movements‬ ‭in Queer Nightlife & Beyond‬

Queer communities have long transformed parties into something powerful: spaces where care flourishes, injustice gets challenged, and new worlds are danced into being. But today, DJs command huge fees while behind-the-scenes workers earn below minimum wage. Corporations profit from our culture while communities that created these spaces are displaced. As venues shut and workers burn out, it’s clear that something has gone deeply wrong.

Club‬‭ Commons: Moving Bodies to Grow Movements‬ ‭in Queer Nightlife & Beyond‬‬‭ by Anjali Prashar-Savoie takes you inside hidden stories of resistance and reinvention. We meet the people reshaping nightlife from below: abolitionist security teams creating safety without police, sober raves doubling as mental health support, radical childcare at parties, venues becoming worker cooperatives, and free party crews reclaiming public space. Through their work, we see how party-throwing skills build movements, how refusing to play changes everything, and why protecting queer nightlife means transforming who owns it.

Quotes

“When‬‭ Anjali‬‭ shines‬‭ her‬‭ perceptive‬‭ light‬‭ on‬‭ dancefloor‬‭ culture,‬‭ everything‬‭ is‬ ‭ better illuminated. I can’t wait to read this book. It’s one we need.” ‭ Emma Warren (author of Dance Your Way Home/Up the Youth Club)

“Anjali’s‬‭ one‬‭ of‬‭ the‬‭ most‬‭ exciting‬‭ and‬‭ insightful‬‭ voices‬‭ writing‬‭ about‬‭ dance‬ ‭ music‬‭ today,‬‭ bringing‬‭ fresh‬‭ perspectives,‬‭ intellectual‬‭ rigour‬‭ and‬‭ emotive‬‭ power‬ ‭to‬‭ a‬‭ conversation‬‭ that’s‬‭ too‬‭ often‬‭ homogenous,‬‭ superficial‬‭ or‬‭ cynically‬ ‭commercial.‬‭ Club‬‭ Commons‬‭ promises‬‭ to‬‭ be‬‭ an‬‭ essential‬‭ and‬‭ overdue‬‭ book:‬‭ a‬ ‭ chance‬‭ to‬‭ reexamine‬‭ the‬‭ queer‬‭ history‬‭ of‬‭ club‬‭ culture,‬‭ celebrate‬‭ and‬‭ critique‬ ‭its‬‭ present,‬‭ and‬‭ map‬‭ out‬‭ radical‬‭ possibilities‬‭ for‬‭ its‬‭ future.‬” Ed Gillett (author of Party Lines)

“Beautifully written and unique, Anjali Prashar-Savoie’s behind-the-scenes journey through queer nightlife is as thorough as it is fascinating. Documenting a world that commercial interests are rapidly destroying, Club Commons is proof that queer culture holds the key to a better future for the dancefloor and beyond.” Professor Sam Parsley (author of Minor Keys, coach, DJ and founder of In the Key, a directory and platform championing the careers of women, trans and non-binary electronic music producers)

“Club Commons: Moving Bodies to Grow Movements in Queer Nightlife & Beyond is a vital reminder of how important the dance floor is to connect, unfurl and envision new futures. The text highlights the historic and existing care work entangled with the club space, particularly in providing temporary sites of refuge and embodied joy for Black and LGBTQIA+ communities. This is juxtaposed with research on the corporate and carceral commodification of nightlife in recent years, which exposes the false premise that club spaces are always radical. This book affirms my belief that the non-commercial nightlife ecosystem is an essential part of our social change infrastructure, rather than a luxury. Club Commons is a call to action to reclaim this space on our own terms and revive the underground.” Camille Sapara Barton, (author of Tending Grief: An Embodied Guide to Being with Grief Individually and in Community)

Yes's 1972 3-track recording masterpiece, Close to the Edge, presents a snapshot of an adventurous rock band at the peak of its powers, daring to push itself musically, both as individuals and as a unit.

The first half of the 1970s was an especially fertile period for British progressive rock, laying claim to classics such as Tarkus, Selling England by the Pound, Larks' Tongues in Aspic, The Dark Side of the Moon, and Thick as a Brick. Collectively these and other works represent the best British progressive rock had to offer. Yet, many reviewers cite Close to the Edge as the ultimate prog rock album.

Author and music journalist Will Romano writes: "Yes had previously penned epic tracks for The Yes Album and Fragile, but nothing on the magnitude of the musical gems appearing on Close to the Edge. It's something of a small miracle — perhaps even magic — that the virtuoso quintet crafted such a cohesive and compelling album during an often-hectic recording process that very nearly relegated this monumental work to the dustbin of history."

The album's centrepiece is the 18-minute title track, with themes and lyrics inspired by the Herman Hesse novel Siddhartha. Side two contains two non-conceptual tracks, the folk-inspired "And You and I" and the comparatively straightforward rocker "Siberian Khatru." Original drummer Bill Bruford found the album particularly laborious to make, which culminated in his decision to quit the band after it was recorded, to join King Crimson.

Close to the Edge became the band's greatest commercial success at the time of release. It peaked at No. 4 on the U.K. Albums Chart and No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, the highest position Yes has reached on the latter chart.

In 2020, Close to the Edge was ranked at No. 445 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings, and housed in a tip-on old style gatefold double pocket jacket with textured stock by Stoughton Printing.

Andy Vaz & Andy Garcia - The Andy To Andy E.p.

The Cryovac machine operates independently to service the world with an original strain of techno. Our people are pioneers of their own sound and seasoned veterans of its' cause. This cause is the basis for our action and the motivation for our vinyl. Cryovac believes the vinyl format is the truest way to take in our music, and this is why we take great care to personally craft our own plates and photograph our own art. The Cryovac approach and stance make it a true oddity in a world of commodities, and we hope you realize, feel, and respect our work.

Andy Vaz is a rebel from the city of Cologne. He is a creator of techno labels that follow their own path and challenge the standard dogma. His version of the techno sound has gone from stark and funky minimalism to synth cascades and housey feels. Andy Vaz is the perfect choice to collaborate with Andy Garcia. Garcia's brand crunchy soul tech mixed with vocal nonsense is the yin to Vaz's yang. These like minds share a name, a spirit, and a drive to keep moving forward no matter the cost.

Summers Sons - Dare To Wonder LP

Dare To Wonder is the new album by London jazz rap duo Summers Sons. Two brothers, surname Summers. Turt on vocals and Slim on production.

Dare To Wonder consists of 12 songs about love, life and connection. Compared to previous Sons’ albums, it’s safe to call Dare To Wonder a feel good album in its best sense. It doesn’t turn a blind eye to the madness of the world today. But it dares to take a step back and marvel at the beauty of the world around us. It dares to wonder. Wonder awakens our curiosity and leaving us thirsty for more knowledge. But it also humbles us – keeping us from thinking we know everything already.

Since 2018 Summers Sons have released five albums on Melting Pot Music (Undertones, Uhuru, The Rain, Nostalgia, Still Nothing Still) – which accumulated over 50 million streams to date – and a string of high profile collaborations with The Silhouettes Project, Twit One, C.Tappin, Nix Northwest and Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn.

INFOTEXT DE

JOHN ROSEBORO & MEI SEMONES - Waters Of March / How To Cope
  • A.Waters of March
  • B.How To Cope

May Simones has been garnering attention for her solid Berklee-trained technique, musicality spanning J-pop, jazz, indie, and bossa nova, and bilingual
English-Japanese lyrics. Following her 2025 Fuji Rock Festival appearance, she has already confirmed her first Japan tour, starting in January 2026.
She is one of the most talked-about singer-songwriters today. Meanwhile, John Roseboro is a Haitian-American singer-songwriter who blends elements of indie
folk, bedroom pop, and jazz with bossa nova rhythms. Unconstrained by typical idioms, his unconventional songwriting and arrangements have led him to
proclaim himself "post-bossa nova," garnering attention among some listeners in Japan.

The duo's cover of Antonio Carlos Jobim's classic "Waters of March" was a hit that quickly raised their profile. The intimate atmosphere created by May's soft
vocals and John's guitar is a testament to the two's friendship. This outstanding cover could set a new standard for English-language bossa nova.

Various - Back To The Old School Part I

2026 Repress

Back in 1988, disco rap aficionado and collector Dave Lee put together a compilation titled 'Back To The Old School', showcasing some of the best of the genre, most of which had never been issued before in the UK . Fast forward to 2025 and Dave's label Z Records has managed to procure the rights to a few choice old school cuts for a (sort of) follow up. The difference is this time Mr Lee has remixed and re-worked the songs for today's dancefloors while preserving their original flavour and integrity. In this first part of the series we have TJ Swann's 1981 jam 'Get Fly', re-tracked and taken into lo-slung yacht rock funk territory with a sizzling synth solo for good measure, a perfect compliment to TJ's smooth NYC flow. Terry Lewis & Wild Flower are up next on the A-side, with a boogie rich, mid-tempo stomper with a heavy funk bottom end and a message that still rings true in this day and age. Mike T's 'Do It Anyway You Wanna' finishes things up with a compulsive dose of jazz-tinged disco rap that goes straight for the jugular, super charged slap bass underpinning sharp sax and flute motifs while the rich tones of Mike T slide over the top. Dave Lee yet again providing a masterclass in production.

Sterac Electronics - Things To Think About

Some things are just too good to be hidden from view. That's certainly the case with Things To Think About, the first album from Dutch electronic music legend Steve Rachmad's lesser-known Sterac Electronics project.
.
Rachmad first rose to prominence in the late 1990s, spearheading a surge in Dutch techno that was heavily inspired by the futurist intent and machine soul of Detroit. Since then, he has continued to successfully explore a wide range of dancefloor-centric electronic styles under a dizzying array of aliases.

It's a while, though, since the public has been treated to a heavy dose of Sterac Electronics material. He first established the alias at the turn of the millennium, primarily as an outlet for hardware-driven electro music shot through with funk and soul.

A handful of highly regarded 12' singles were released on Music Man and Interpersonal XP, before Rachmad began focusing on other projects. When inspiration struck, he returned to the project, jamming out tracks using a mighty collection of vintage synthesizers and drum machines.

Recently, Rachmad and Tom Trago decided to revisit the Sterac Electronics archive, discovering a killer collection of cuts created at different points over the course of the last 15 years.

Now 9 of those spellbinding hardware jams have been gathered together for the first time on Things To Think About, a warm, rich and evocative collection of electro-fuelled workouts that giddily pay tribute to the music of Rachmad's youth.

From the thrusting, synth-driven machine funk of Original Pattern' and mutant electrofunk revivalism of Game Changers', to the baggy West Coast boogie of Metratron' and intergalactic hustle of Archetype' (which sounds like Cybotron covering the 1988 version of The KLF's What Time Is Love'), Things To Think About is an lesson in the emotion-rich, mood enhancing possibilities of spontaneous hardware jams.

The highlights don't stop there, either. Check, for example, the crystalline synthesizer melodies, body popping drum hits and spacey chords of Tuning Into Frequencies' and the breezy humidity of opener Altruistic Endeavor'.

Like the rest of the tracks on the album, they feel timeless, as if they could have been made at any point during the last three decades. From Steve Rachmad, we wouldn't expect anything less.

Things To Think About will be released as a limited-edition double album, preceded by a 12' single featuring another previously unheard gem from the vaults.
