Die in London lebende schwedische Künstlerin Josefin Öhrn (Ex-Mitglied der Grammy-nominierten Band Josefin Öhrn & The Liberation) veröffentlicht mit "Cherry" ihr Solodebütalbum, das sie mit den Gastsängern Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) & Anton Newcombe (The Brian Jonestown Massacre) sowie Andy Bell (Ride) an der Gitarre aufnahm. "Cherry" ist Josefins bislang persönlichstes und eigenständigstes Album. Es widmet sich Themen wie Neuanfang, Begehren, Liebe und Trauer und reiht sich so in eine neue musikalische Strömung ein – ähnlich Robyn ("Sexistential") und Lykke Li ("The Afterparty") -, in der weibliche Erfahrungen offen und ohne Scham in farbenfroher Aufrichtigkeit geschildert werden. Solche Alben zeugen von einer faszinierenden Phase roher, intensiver und tiefgreifend transformativer Selbstverwirklichung. J-Felix’s rich production takes in neo-soul, UK Jazz, boogie and hip-hop. His signature “J-Funk” style evokes classic samples but with all-original playing from the versatile multi- instrumentalist, who has worked with Swindle, Kojey Radical, Mahalia and Alice Russell.



The Fifth Foundation’s explosive live experience ranges from a versatile MC/DJ set-up to a full live band, with horns and multiple vocalists, mixing originals from this bold debut with inspiration from timeless soul, jazz, funk and rap classics.

Keni Burke's signature hit 'Risin' To The Top' gets an official remastered, reissue alongside the 12 inch mix of his '81 killer jam 'You're The Best'.

'Risin' To The Top' quickly became a clear favourite of the soul crowd back in the '80s, with Keni's sensuous vocals, a timeless bassline of epic proportions and those dreamy, sunshine chords proving a winning combination. Since then countless producers, from the likes of Doug E Fresh and Slum Village, to LL Cool J and Mary J Blige, have utilised 'Risin' To The Top' as a choice sample for their own productions. A quick glance at this seemingly endless list, just goes to show how much of an impact this record ended up having.

On the flip, 'You're The Best', takes a more boogie paved path, filled with an undeniably groove laden bass synth, cosmic keys and Keni's infectiously soulful vocals. It's early eighties synth boogie at it's best, placing the electronic elements at the forefront whilst holding onto that unquestionable funk at its core.

L’Eclisse is the third studio album by Garden City Movement. Drawing from psychedelia, alternative R&B, leftfield electronic music and lo-fi indie songcraft, the album weaves together guitars, synthesizers, layered vocal arrangements and groove driven rhythms into a richly detailed collection of songs. Bringing together different facets of the band's sound into a cohesive body of work, the album reflects a decade of musical exploration while further developing Garden City Movement's distinctive musical language.

Garden City Movement are the duo of Roy Avital and Johnny Sharoni. Over the past decade, they have built an international audience through a distinctive blend of dream pop, electronic music and immersive production. Their releases have received support from Pitchfork, The FADER, Clash, Stereogum and KCRW, while their music has appeared in FIFA 22 and major television productions. Named after a now-shuttered nightspot that overlooked the beach on Italy's picturesque Tuscan coast, Maxime Denuc's 'Club Imperiale' is a work of speculative historical fiction, a record that imagines a point of creative symbiosis between the Catholic church and the ecstatic dancefloors of the early '90s.
Using a MIDI-controlled pipe organ, Denuc creates dense clouds of impossible-to-play notes that ricochet backwards and forwards through history, from Rome's reverberant cathedrals to the white, sandy beaches of the Balearic Islands.
Two years ago, the Brussels-based French composer was forwarded a surprising video by a Belgian fan. It was shot during a Wedding at a church in Menorca, where the organist was playing 'Infinite End', the lead track from 2022's 'Nachthorn'. Immediately, Denuc knew that this was the thematic backdrop he'd been waiting for; he imagined the aftermath of the event, wandering through small villages and teetering on a cliff's edge, finding a provincial nightclub and retracing his steps back to the beach to witness the
sunrise.

Quiet Village drop a version of Barry Reynolds' 'Till The Doctor Gets Back' with a remix from Mad Professor. The duo's latest release for their eponymous imprint is a love letter to the early-80s sound of Island Records.

Joel Martin and Matt 'Radio Slave' Edwards' Quiet Village project is back on their The Quiet Village imprint on July 10th with 'Till The Doctor Gets Back', a characteristically spaced-out cover of Barry Reynolds which features their first ever commissioned remix, having tapped Mad Professor.

Recorded in 2024, Quiet Village's 'Till The Doctor Gets Back' evokes the spirit of the 1982 original, a release born out of a period when reggae, dub, pop, rock and dance music were colliding. QV's version is exactly what the duo have been known for since their beginnings in 2005; unhurried, immersive and utterly compelling. With reverb and delays firmly on the 'dub' bus, the track is shot through rich synths, glorious overlapping melodies and a fresh vocal interpretation. Mad Professor's dub slow burns, doubles down on the dub aesthetics and embraces the source material wholly, resulting in a cosseting yet invigorating listen.

Since their formation in 1990 in Sweden, Opeth has risen to the forefront of the
metal world over the years; bringing many aspects of progressive rock/metal to a
whole new audience by combining soft acoustic ambience with complex, melodic
& heavy guitar often familiar to forms of death/black metal, perfectly concocted
into a completely peerless sound. A constant factor of their success is that the
band have never been afraid to experiment with their song- writing, taking us
through some truly magical & hypnotic soundscapes from blackened death/prog
debut opus, 'Orchid' back in 1995, through to the highly accomplished prog/rock
outfit witnessed in recent years

San Francisco’s 21 st century take on disco has long tended towards the cosmic and
psychedelic, a reflection of the Bay Area’s long association with trippy, mind-altering music.
Over the years, Leng Records has periodically dived into these fertile waters, delivering
inspired slabs of cosmic-minded and dub-flecked excellence from 40 Thieves and, more
recently, Marshall Watson and Cole Odin.


It’s to Watson, a long-serving producer and sound designer whose work has previously
appeared on labels including Sprechen, Shades of Sound, Seven Villas, Italians Do It Better, Highpoint Lowlife and NuNorthern Soul, that Leng has turned this time around. It marks his first solo appearance on the imprint and lands two years on from his inspired Odin collaboration, Voyager. ‘Little Monster’ is Watson at his most potent, club-focused best. Built around rock-solid
disco drums and a deliciously dubby, low-slung bassline, the track slowly builds via waves of intergalactic electronics, spaced-out and echoing vocal samples, audible nods to cosmic rock and bursts of starry synth melodies. Thickening and increasing in effects-laden intoxication as it progresses, ‘Little Monster’ not only lives up to its name but also cements Watson’s growing reputation as one of 21st century cosmic disco’s most distinctive talents.


Fittingly, the accompanying remix comes from Leng regulars and fellow San Francisco
residents 40 Thieves. Delivering a genuinely epic, near nine-minute excursion, the veteran
collective drag Watson’s inspired original mix further towards Daniele Baldelli style dub
disco-meets-Afro-cosmic territory. Expect bolder, funkier bass, echoing synth motifs, eyes-
closed electric guitar solos, echoing synth snippets and wild, sustained organ chords. It’s
cosmic disco in dub… and the perfect accompaniment to Watson’s future cosmic disco
classic.

Back in November 2015, after years of collaborations with such as Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Obie Trice, Sean Price, Kool G Rap, Eternia and countless others, Toronto-based producer MoSS released his debut producer album entitled "Marching To The Sound Of My Own Drum". Since the beginning of his career, the Canadian beatsmith, record digger and music connoisseur has been making a name for himself with his signature sound and on this record he gives an amazing display of what he's capable of doing being backed up by an all stars team that features AZ, Havoc, Slum Village, Onyx, Inspectah Deck, Ill Bill, Skyzoo, Guilty Simpson and 20+ other legendary MC's. Le Sacre du Tympan est mon orchestre et mon instrument d’expression depuis 25 ans.
Avec cet ensemble a géométrie variable qui possède une dizaine d’albums a son actif, et de nombreux concerts en France et a l’étranger, je m’exprime en tant que compositeur mais aussi
arrangeur.
En 2008, nous avions crée un programme au festival Jazz a la Villette, avec cinq musiciens, en privilégiant la musique électronique et les synthétiseurs dans la musique de De Roubaix, pionnier du home studio et des Synthés. En 2015, nous avons enregistré ce programme.
Pour le cinquantenaire du compositeur qui aura lieu en 2025, j’aimerais élargir le programme autour de la musique orchestrale également très présente dans son oeuvre, ce qui permettra d’accentuer l’aspect intemporel de sa musique, tout en la confrontant aux œuvres de quelques autres compositeurs, pour démontrer l’influence qu’il a pu avoir y compris auprès de légendes telles que Morricone, Michel Legrand, ou John Barry.

Revenir sur les compositions de François de Roubaix permettra de mettre en avant la richesse des thèmes, des harmonies, et des timbres qui émanent de ses oeuvres, qui ont traversé les décennies en mettant en valeur leur portée intergénérationnelle auprès de tous les publics.

"Lados B" is a deep dive into the high-level spontaneous music made by Villarreal, Parker, and Butterss across those two days in 2020. Villarreal is heard leading the group through various rhythmic modes and structures for improvisation - flow as informed by the Latin funk of Fania Records as it is by the otherworldly humanity trance of Brain Records - while Parker and Butterss draw on their extensive experience playing free together (as heard on their ETA IVtet LPs) to build harmonic buoys for their spontaneous melodicism. The result is a beautifully vivid illustration of context, creativity, and collective composition from a particularly rich moment in history.

Die Songtexte wurden von "Tim Steinfort" (Haymaker/Discharger) standesgemäß ins Englische übersetzt und von den Brüdern komplett neu eingesungen, wodurch die Songs eine ganz eigene, frische Atmosphäre bekommen, ohne ihre ursprüngliche Kraft zu verlieren.
Ein neues Kapitel in der Geschichte der vier Jungs aus dem Saarland? Wohl eher nicht! Dafür aber die logische Konsequenz auf die inzwischen auch international wachsende Fangemeinde.

Die Schweizer One-Woman-Elektro-Punk-Sensation TARANJA WU ist sowas wie das Bindeglied zwischen Suicide, Ian Svenonius, Sedlmeir und Voodoo Rhythm"s Beat-Man - und doch ganz anders und ganz eigen. In der einen Hand die Gitarre, in der anderen ein gut geladenes Mass an Haltung, mit der sie ihren Tarif durchgibt. Ihre Abrechnung feiert sie mit punkig-scheppernden Gitarren, sägenden Synthesizern und unerbittlichem Gehämmer. Dazwischen ertönen Signale, als hätte jemand das Weltall angezapft und beschlossen, es tanzbar zu machen. Ihr zweites Album ALL MESSED UP ist ein Trip durch kontrollierte Abstürze, ein Album wie ein schöner Fehler: süß genug, um näherzukommen, scharf genug, um zu bleiben, serviert mit einem Lachen, das man nicht ganz einordnen kann. Ein Tanz in surrealen Bildern und ein Cocktail aus musikalischem Wahnsinn, der ebenso süchtig macht wie beunruhigend ist. Und das alles garniert "With a Dash of Trash". Klingt ungemütlich? dem Label zurück, um vier großartige Alben als Bandleader aufzunehmen: “Sonny Rollins, Volume 1”,
“Sonny Rollins, Vol. 2”, “Newk’s Time” und “A Night at the ‘Village Vanguard’”. Auf “Sonny Rollins,
Vol. 2” präsentierte er sich mit einem erstklassig besetzten Quintett und einem temperamentvollen Set aus
teils selbst komponierten Bebop- und Hard-Bop-Nummern. Die Höhepunkte des Albums sind die unwiderstehlichen Versionen der beiden Thelonious-Monk-Klassiker “Misterioso” und “Reflections”, bei denen sich

Nein, neu im Geschäft ist El Michels Affair nicht. El Michels hat hart gearbeitet, in unzähligen mitternächtlichen Studiosessions und auf einer Welttournee für den Wu-Tang Clan. Und eins ist klar: Die Band ist dabei auf eine gute Art gealtert. Nachdem es 2005 wie aus dem Nichts mit dem Instrumentalalbum "Sounding Out The City" aufschlug, hat sich das Studio-konzentrierte Kollektiv, angeführt vom Multiinstrumentalisten und Komponisten Leon Michels, Fans auf allen Kontinenten erspielt. Die Gruppe ist für ihre schwelgerischen Soul-Instrumentals bekannt, aber auch für ihre Wu-Tang-Covers, wie die explosive Reaktion auf ihre zwei Alben "Enter The 37th Chamber" (2009) und "Return To The 37th Chamber" (2019 beweist. Das alles ist aber längst Geschichte, denn das rundeste und reifste Album der Band mit dem passenden Titel "Adult Themes" beweist, welche neuen instrumentalen Höhen sie erklommen hat. Das Album, das Michels als "Soundtrack für einen imaginären Film" beschreibt, ist eine Sammlung von opulenten, abgründigen, komplexen und oft sehr funkigen Stücken, die die Ohren zum Schwingen und die Köpfe zum Nicken bringen.

Boring Crew Records presents: Liminal Spaces EP

Oslo-based label Boring Crew Records (BCR) follows up their vinyl debut with a darker and
more focused four-track EP. Liminal Spaces sees the label plant its feet firmly in the space
between house and techno. Moodier and more deliberate than its predecessor.

BCR02 opens with Henrik Villard’s Creek, built on cavernous drums, before a driving synth
emerges and pulls the track into focus. Solar nods to the gritty tech-house of the early
2000s, with an unrelenting, driving energy.

On the B-side, Anders Hajem’s Simulation drifts into more hypnotic territory. An understated
bassline tethers the track while pulsating synths create a coiling, uneasy tension. Vesen
closes the EP by picking up the same atmosphere and carrying it forward with a restless
energy.

Boring Crew Records’ second vinyl release, Liminal Spaces, offers a deeper and more
assured look at a label with a sound very much its own.

Emerging in the early 2020’s - Static Abyss is a monstrous hybrid of twisted, doom-laden brutal death, comprising of longstanding members of the US metal scene. The band consists primarily of the duo of Deathgrave’s Greg Wilkinson (Guitars/bass) & Chris Reifert (vocals), both also members of legendary American masters of sickness, Autopsy, with Chris also notably starting his career with genre pioneers, Death. The band’s debut, ‘Labyrinth Of Veins’ was released in 2022, & their second album ‘Aborted From Reality’ followed in quick succession, surfacing in 2023.

Returning now for Static Abyss’ third studio album, & with the addition of Chad Gailey of fellow death merchants Necrot behind the drumkit for this release, ‘The Dying Hunt’ plummets the listener again into the festering, psychedelic swamps of lunacy, with the spiralling melodies texturing the relentless savage riffs for an effective nightmare inducing trip through the sonic abyss. Continuously & relentlessly flitting between brutal passages & hypnotic otherworldly craziness, ‘The Dying Hunt’ reflects the ailing world & the unravelling of the psyche of its inhabitants in this darkly dystopian landscape, for a masterful descent into sick Death Metal combined with Crust & Doom elements.

Euronymous’ Deathlike Silence Productions in 1993, & with each subsequent release, Sigh grew to become one of the country’s greatest & most revered metal exports. With a journey through the strange & the psychedelic, incorporating a whole eclectic mix of genre styles & experimentation throughout their career, Sigh has remained a vital creative force in the avantgarde field whilst maintaining their old school roots, as witnessed with the stellar 2022 album, ‘Shiki’. 2025 also saw Sigh remaking their ‘Hangman’s Hymn’ album for a release on Peaceville as part of the band’s 35th anniversary celebrations, in the shape of ‘I Saw The World’s End: Hangman’s Hymn MMXXV’.

With the ongoing early line-up of Mirai Kawashima, Shinichi Ishikawa, & Satoshi Fujinami, ‘Scenario IV: Dread Dreams’ was the band’s fourth studio album, originally surfacing in 1999. This was also notably the final title in partnership with Sigh’s then-label, Cacophonous Records. Delving evermore into the experimental side of music to conjure an interlinked gallery of twisted soundscapes; ‘Dread Dreams’ became more of a journey into the realm of psychedelia & rock over black metal, with this Zappa-inspired odyssey acting as somewhat of a direct pre-cursor to what was to follow with the celebrated ‘Imaginary Sonicscape’ opus.

‘Dread Dreams’ was once more recorded at Shinjuku On Air Studio with J. Yamada, with a selection of guests including Damian Montgomery of Ritual Carnage lending lyrics plus guest vocals, along with King Fowley (Deceased), & Killjoy (Necrophagia) supplying additional song lyrics. Cover art came courtesy of renowned artist Joe Petagno (Motörhead, Autopsy).

Continuing with Peaceville’s re-issues of Sigh’s classic works, this edition of ‘Dread Dreams’ contains a new master created by Patrick Engel at Temple of Disharmony.

The release also includes a new interview with main-man Mirai Kawashima conducted by Dayal Patterson of Cult Never Dies, with his thoughts, influences & reflections on the album & its challenges.

Candlemass was formed by bassist & songwriter Leif Edling in Stockholm, Sweden in 1984. Well known for their epic doom metal & continuing their legacy as genre leaders to this day, Candlemass has influenced a generation of the genre’s subsequent greats from My Dying Bride to Paradise Lost - Candlemass themselves taking a large influence from Black Sabbath.

‘Dactylis Glomerata’ was a come-back album of sorts, originally released in 1998, after the band had temporarily been laid to rest after the ‘Chapter VI’ album.

‘Dactylis…’ was an album of more stripped down dirty doom rock, with solid songwriting on display, evoking what some described as a strong stoner vibe, along with some hard rock elements. This was in contrast to the more epic heavy metal inspired compositions from previous albums, which the band were more known for. Having stood the test of time incredibly well, ’Dactylis Glomerata’ is a gem in the band’s rich history spanning four decades.

If there's one thing I'm good at it's finding records. It doesn't matter where in the world I am, I find records, the best records, the rarest records. And always in Mint condition. I have a knack for it. One place I like to hunt for records is South of the Border, in Mexico. You can find great records there, way out in those pequeños pueblos del desierto. Another great thing you can find is cactus.
Mexico is famous for cactus. You got your Ariocarpus, your Turbinicarpus, your Mammillaria. You got cactus of all kinds, big and small. Little ones like Eplithelantha, psychedelic ones like the peyote Lophophora, and rare ones like Aztekium. But my favourite is Mammillaria humboldtii. Now this one is very hard to find. The villagers over in Hidalgo know where it is, and they go high up in the mountains to look for it.

Now these guys, they take their time. But when they come down from those mountains, they bring back the most beautiful specimens. I really mean it, they're beautiful. They're like clumps of fluffy white golf balls, and they have these cute little pink flowers. Beautiful I tell ya. I pay precio alto for a good specimen of Mammillaria humboldtii.

One of the early breed of US death metal acts, Autopsy formed in 1987 in San Francisco. Drummer/vocalist Chris Reifert had gained initial recognition with Floridian genre pioneers Death & his participation on the classic debut, ‘Scream Bloody Gore’ before this new morbid creation was birthed. Autopsy released 4 albums on Peaceville Records in the early part of their career - beginning with the legendary debut, ‘Severed Survival’, in 1989 - before disbanding in 1995, with members going on to become the stalwarts of sickodelia in Abscess.

Autopsy triumphantly & officially returned from the grave after a 15 year hiatus with the 2010 EP, ‘The Tomb Within’. This was followed by the release of the band’s fifth studio album, ‘Macabre Eternal’ in 2011, as the group celebrated a new era of popularity & creativity. This reverence continues to this day as Autopsy itself nears its 40th anniversary, & still features the longstanding core trio of Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler, & Danny Coralles.

‘Mental Funeral’ was Autopsy’s second studio album, originally released back in 1991, & is rightly hailed as one of the greatest death metal albums of all time with its unhinged & uncompromising collection of odes to brutality & depravity, wrapped up in its highly distinctive raw, organic production.

‘Mental Funeral’ was recorded at Different Fur Studios in late 1990, with engineering work conducted by Ron Rigler. The iconic artwork appeared courtesy of Kev Walker, who had already provided the (at the time) controversial cover for Autopsy’s debut, ‘Severed Survival’.

This special 35th anniversary pressing of ‘Mental Funeral’ is presented on a limited red/green ink spot vinyl, featuring newly remastered audio courtesy of current Autopsy bassist Greg Wilkinson at his Earhammer Studios.

Reissue. This is MEPHISTOFELES at their druggiest best - you can practically hear the sizzle of something brown cooking on its grooves - and thankfully, they've kept their doom locked in the garage. Mephistofeles continue to maximize the ROCK aspect of their sound over the doom here, with their swagger truly something to behold as those solos just soar downward into the abyss and the rhythm section push and pull right behind. If anything, Violent Theatre is a sterling example of true ensemble playing. Mephistofeles are nothing if not dependable, but just check out the 14-minute epic "Communion of the Vile" for the band really going for it. No other words needed: MEPHISTOFELES are cult for a reason, and Violent Theatre simply proves it further.
