Die neue Platte ist eine Parforceritt durch die geschätzten Traditionen des Genres - man denke an Razor, Dark Angel, Merciless, Living Death und natürlich Slayer als Referenzen - und verleiht ihnen einen frischen Dreh, sei es in Form von ‚Nimbus', einer Hommage an Phantoms Einflüssen von Kultbands wie Manilla Road, Gotham City und Heavy Load, oder in Bezug auf die abenteuerliche Struktur von ‚Nazguhl', einem von vielen Ausflügen ins Unkonventionelle, die den extremen Metal der Mexiakner überraschenderweise nicht kompromittieren. "Tyrants of Wrath" wurde von der Band und Héctor Northen in den Nehtron Studios in Mexiko aufgenommen und abgemischt. Das Mastering übernahm Patrick Engel im Temple of Disharmony in Deutschland. Phantom touren im September/Oktober 2025 mit den Brasilianern Evilcult durch Europa.

IRIS sind tot, lang lebe IRIS! Obwohl die beiden Protagonisten Andrew Sega und Reagan Jones seit Ende des letztes Jahres offiziell getrennte Wege eingeschlagen haben, müssen ihre zahlreiche Anhänger keineswegs die Köpfe hängen lassen.

Mit Einverständnis der Band, legen Dependent das längst vergriffene dritte Album "Wrath" in zwei speziellen Ausgaben neu auf. Dieses Highlight aus dem Werk von IRIS wird mit neuem Mastering erstmals als limitiertes 12" Vinyl mit verbessertem, hochaufgelöstem Cover-Artwork erscheinen. Außerdem kommt "Wrath" als limitiertes Doppel-CD Artbook heraus, welches neben dem remasterten Album eine exklusive 10-Track Bonus-CD, Live-Fotos und Liner-Notes von J. Ned Kirby (STROMKERN) und Dependent-Chef Stefan Herwig enthält.
J. Ned Kirby, der IRIS mehrmals live auf Tour unterstützt hat, erklärt die Gründe für die Wiederveröffentlich von "Wrath": "Jedes Album von Iris stellt für sich genommen ein Hauptseminar ein Sachen Songwriting und Produktion dar", schreibt der Amerikaner. "Mit seinen zehn unvergleichlichen Arrangements für zehn perfekte Songs erreicht 'Wrath' aber das Niveau einer Meisterklasse. Bay Area Thrash Metal legend Blind Illusion returns after 34 years with a follow-up to “The Sane Asylum”, featuring Doug Piercy (ex-Heathen) and Andy Gallon (ex-Death Angel)! Thrash as a primitive, earthy genre has given us many greats: Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Death Angel, Heathen and the like. But the more calculated, technical, and ultimately colorful inventors of progressive Thrash, a genre that blossomed handsomely after Watchtower’s debut in 1985, are what truly push the limits of Thrash and test its creative bandwidth. Blind Illusion on their new album “Wrath of the Gods”, achieve this to a degree that has seldom been approached, let alone passed, in the rest of Thrash history, just as they did 34 years ago on “The Sane Asylum”. What is most impressive and revealing about this album, however, is not the technical ability of the musicians involved (although there is nothing wrong with their ability). It’s the pure brilliance that shapes every song, and the demonstration of how focusing on the art of songwriting will work wonders for a band. “Straight as the Crowbar Flies” introduces us first to the astral energy this album exudes, with catchy riffing and Marc Biedermann’s raspy, growling vocals. The screeching guitar solos and the abrupt rhythm changes keep the song fresh, but the band’s incorporation of technical Thrash elements crossed with extremely catchy riffing and drum arrangements proves to be the strong attributes of this album. There are numerous instances where the band finds its virtue in slowing down, letting a power chord ring out, and then letting the drums restart and propel the song once again. When the band decides to let their guard down and get cagey or manic with the rhythm, it’s done so with precision and doesn’t come at the expense of the song structure. When they get technical, the notes still vibrate with emotion, and the song doesn’t just become a vacuum for skills to be shown off. This message is most evident in every song, which all feature catchy guitar licks and great guitar riffs. What Blind Illusion does best on this new masterpiece is deliver cleverly-written and fun songs with catchy riffs. At the heart of Thrash, that’s really all you can ask for. The effects of how masterfully composed this album is has lend the production a unique ethos that makes it feel human. This is a group of guys who know what die-hard Thrash fans want to hear, and they know how to put it on their 2022 album “Wrath of the Gods”.

During the 1980s, they were the even-uglier alternative to Venom and Motorhead,
and made their name with such anthems as "Whiskey Time" and "Ilona the Very
Best." They also had an utterly wild, over- the- top presentation and visual
aesthetic, all embodied in accurately monikered frontman AC Wild. They were a
cult band before "cult bands" were such a thing in the metal scene. In short, there
was one – and only one – Bulldozer. Their debut album, 'The Day of
Wrath',released iin 1985, became something like bottled magic: Bulldozer never
again sounded as dark and depraved and raw as they did here. While their
successive albums saw the band cleaning up their act and getting thrashier and
are no less beloved, 'The Day of Wrath' is widely/ rightly considered the classic
album from Bulldozer.

2022 REISSUE

The first release from Mr. Bungle since 1999. ‘The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny Demo’ is a rerecording of the band’s 1986 high school thrash metal demo along with songs written then but never
recorded.

The album also features covers of classics by S.O.D. and Corrosion Of Conformity.

This version of Mr. Bungle is original members Mike Patton, Trey Spruance and Trevor Dunn, joined by Scott Ian of Anthrax and Dave Lombardo of Slayer / Dead Cross.

The band have sold millions worldwide through their three major label releases in the 1990s and have been inactive since 1999. Earlier this year they sold out seven shows in three cities (NYC, LA, SF), selling 10,000+ tickets in less than 30 seconds and they’re hoping for more special shows in 2021, including Europe. The band broke Billie Eilish’s merch record at Brooklyn Steel and Chance the Rapper and Babymetal's merch records at Warfield San Francisco, showing how their fanbase is one that values a physical product.

The lead-off and title track of Brock Van Wey's 38th bvdub album Wrath and Apathy establishes itself with a noir hued Rhodes piano and idly lurching beats that provide an intoxicating beginning, which is, fittingly obstructed by a resonant synth-line that paces the song to new heights.
Van Wey's fans have come to covet the ebb and flow between such sprawlingly emotive passages, and Wrath and Apathy has these in mass.
It takes its time, like most of Van Wey's works, to get where it's going, and his musi- cal style to the already initiated is that of intently watching the ocean waves, with each wave bringing its own unique shape, texture, and in this case, aural reward.
Wrath and Apathy is loosely based on the events of Haruki Murakami's novel Kafka on the Shore. Like most of Van Wey's recent n5MD works, comes in the form of four spaciously captivating and deeply immersive long-form journeys.
