Rufus Wainwright’s Dream Requiem is an extremely prestigious project, the result of a commission from major cultural institutions in the US, UK, and Europe. This world premiere recording features a new composition by the legendary, Grammy-nominated musician, who has collaborated with the who's who of the pop music world. With narration by Meryl Streep.

Voodoos and Taboos first appeared in 2019. A mysterious outfit, their melting pot sound immediately caught the ears of the faithful; acid cut with house, electro beats shot through with a punk D.I.Y. attitude. Their escapades didn’t miss us here at Bordello.

Reversible Dreams collects four examples of this chameleon club style that Voodoos and Taboos have cultivated, the EP opening with the title piece. Cascading chords and whispered samples give way to rich bass strings as a playful piano melody transforms into squirming acid beams.

Claps and neat notes introduce “Unconditional Love”, vocoder lyrics mingling with spoken word and juddering space TB303 squawk. The flip adopts a darker hue. Off-kilter bars and stern beats introduce “Animae”, alien electro melodies descend as a fizzing late night energy takes hold. BPMs drop for “Destino Lontano.”

Warm basslines and Eastern scented synth-play weave their way through the piece, delicate strings and dawn sunshine leading to a close.

These tracks are responsible for a huge impression on Dream Software and the sound of the label, so it is with great honour we reissue these tracks and release them back into the outersphere. The soundtrack to a retrofuturist world gleaming with optimism. A world where humanity, technology and nature exist in a peaceful symbiosis. A real utopia. We thank you Alex for your inspirational music.

Written and produced by Alex Silvi (Alien Signal) throughout the years of 1993-1994. ‘North Polar Stars’, ‘Brilliant Evening Planets’ and ‘Violent Volcanoes of Io’ originally released on album ‘Celestial Sights of the Future’ from Upland Recordings in 1993. ‘Quantum Limit’ was originally released on album ‘The Search Begins’ also on Upland Recordings in 1993, whereas ‘Atomic (Esoteric Mix)’ was a self-release from 1994.

Sam Gendel is known for his work with saxophones and wind controllers. Benny Bock is a keyboardist, composer, producer and sound designer from Oakland, California. Hans Kjorstad is a musician and composer in the field of contemporary microtonal music, informed by Norwegian traditional music and experimental improvised music.

Another formidable release by the mighty DJ Phantasy and the 15th repress we have done for Liquid Wax! How the hell did that happen so fast!?! And this is a classic, a total banger from back in the day which I am sure many of you will remember. The tracks were engineered by Alex Reece when he was assistant engineer to Jack Smooth at his Sound Entity Studios.

Der Song läutet bei jedem das Gefühl von Geborgenheit und weihnachtlicher Vorfreude ein, die man im
Dezember braucht, um die kalten Monate zu überstehen. Um diesen alljährlichen Mega-Hit, der kurz vor
Diamant-Status steht, gebührend zu zelebrieren, erscheint der Evergreen jetzt am 15.11.2024 erstmalig als
strikt auf 1.000 Exemplare limitierte 7‘‘-Picture-Vinyl-Single.
Melanie Thornton wurde 1967 in South Carolina, in den USA geboren und interessierte sich schon früh
für Musik. Ihren Vorbildern, wie Aretha Franklin oder Roberta Flack nacheifernd, nimmt sie schon mit 11
Jahren Gesangsunterricht. Ihre größten Erfolge feiert sie gemeinsam mit D. Lane McCray Jr. als weltweit
erfolgreiches Dancefloor-Duo La Bouche.
Im Jahr 2000 startet sie dann ihre Solo-Karriere mit ihrem ersten Hit „Love How You Love Me“. Nur
kurze Zeit später folgt der heutige X-Mas-Klassiker „Wonderful Dream (Holidays Are Coming)“ im Zuge
einer massiven Weihnachtskampagne für Coca-Cola.
Ein Jahr später, 2001, verstarb Melanie Thornton dann bei einem tragischen Flugzeugunglück in der
Schweiz mit gerade einmal 34 Jahren.

In the world of electronic dance music, Âme stand apart. Since 2003, the duo of Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer have cut a singular path through techno, house, minimal, ambient and more with their anthemic singles and mixes. Rose Main Reading Room, the fourth full length by Peel Dream Magazine, is a lush, inviting headphones record; the kind of album made to accompany city bus rides and rainy-day solo trips to accidental destinations. The band, whose name nods to the BBC Radio 1 legend John Peel — arbiter of all things underground, quality, and (it must be said) "cool" — has since its inception been a genre-hopping experiment, jumping from motorik krautrock to shoegaze and space age pop, and their newest work is a perfect starting point for the uninitiated, beckoning toward a newfound romance and nostalgia with their catchiest collection of songs to date. Across its fifteen songs, Rose Main Reading Room ultimately proposes a world of marvels and compelling complexity: “Oblast” cheekily prods at mutually assured destruction; “Ocean Life” explores the infiniteness within ourselves; while “R.I.P. (Running in Place)” unpacks an all too familiar stagnation. It’s all part of, and crucial to, Rose Main Reading Room’s transportive power, ever reaching for the wonder and magic of the world we live in.

Geboren aus dem elementaren Urgrund der Wurzeln des Heavy Metals, von den vom Krieg gezeichneten Industrielandschaften Birminghams bis zu den heruntergekommenen Bars und Kellern Brooklyns, erscheinen Neon Nightmare wie ein Geist in der Nacht, um die Tradition fortzuführen. Beunruhigende Musik für beunruhigte Menschen. Und obwohl es nichts Neues unter der Sonne gibt, gibt es in den Schatten vielleicht doch eine Chance - es sind eben diese Schatten, aus denen "Faded Dream" aus schimmerndem Stahl geformt wurde.

Der Titel sagt alles: "Faded Dream", das Debütalbum von Neon Nightmare, ist eine Synthese aus emotionalen Höhen und Tiefen und einer düsteren, grüblerischen Atmosphäre, die die Sehnsucht nach Vergangenheit weckt, die einst von jugendlichem Drang und Neugier geprägt war. Mit einem Fundament aus großen Riffs, einer erdrückenden Studioproduktion, die in Fantasie und psychedelische Ornamente getaucht ist, und einem dramatischen Sänger, der in der Lage ist, nahtlos zwischen gespenstischen Gothic-Bariton und klassischem Heavy Metal zu wechseln, ist "Faded Dream" ein Mix, in dem sich Doom, Psych, Shoegaze und Alternative Metal auf eine Weise kreuzen, wie man es seit Jahren nicht mehr gehört hat.

"Faded Dream" hat einen unverkennbar satirischen Zug, denn Neon Nightmare vermeiden geschickt die offenkundige Traurigkeit und das selbsternannte ‚Metalband mit Gothic-Tendenzen'-Milieu. Bei aller echten Vorahnung und Konfrontation mit echter Depression verliert sich "Faded Dream" nie im Sumpf oder gibt seine Vorliebe für spannungsgeladene Vergnügungen und heitere Faszination auf. Die heraufbeschworenen Klänge haben im Laufe der Jahrzehnte der Heavy-Metal-Geschichte viele bedeutsame Formen angenommen, und Neon Nightmare sind hier, um diesen Zyklus fortzusetzen.
