Lyeform - Vintage Gilly

Bringing mutant verve and a deadly swing to the bassweight discipline, Lyeform lands on Sneaker Social Club in resonantly rude form. Strong doses of UKG, wormhole techno and dubstep course through the veins of this muscular four-deep drop, but the London-based producer's metabolism strips the strands down to an atomic level and rebuilds the dance in his own design.

There's a dense and dank mood hovering over 'Drift Into Dread,' shaped out by rugged, noisy percussion steering towards mind-melting immersion. Rather than resting in technoid repetition, the landscape keeps shifting as dislocated rhythmic phrases slide in and out of earshot, led by the disembodied toasting of a mysterious MC.

'Vintage Gilly' has a much starker sound palette, all crackling drums sparking static interference into negative space with subs so low you might mistake them for heart murmurs. All the better to savour the subtleties as they tease into the mix, not least the understated lead lines loping lazily on the threshold.

The 2-step swagger is unmistakable on 'Godkiller' as it comes bowling into earshot, but there's not a whiff of garage revivalism in earshot as we channel hop between metallic feedback interference and needlepoint noise snaking around the minimalist framework of the beat.

'Glass Eater' closes the record out on another skippy stepper, but here Lyeform makes room for cavernous dub techno chords, overdriven bass harmonics and teeth-grinding noise. It's a final maverick swerve from an artist carving out a formidable impression via micro-level textural exploration within the context of dark and deadly soundsystem tackle.

Droogs
21.08.2026

The Shroud's appearance on Droogs is a masterclass in the fundamentals with four tracks that wear their influences proudly without ever becoming slavish to what has come before. Opener 'Cross' dives deep and rarely surfaces, rewiring classic shapes in murky bass underworlds. The title track is a rhythm slasher with steely-plated drums and growing low end menace, then 'Ouroboros' cranks the pressure to new levels without ever veering too far from meticulously programmed breaks. It has a schizophrenic panic to it in the scratchy textures and vocals that bleed in and out, then 'Restless Minds' closes things out with the sort of rhythm that gets you dropping your shoulder and fully locked in to each and every bump.

M.a.n.d.y. Vs Booka Shade Feat. Laurie Anderson - O Superman 2024

Arguably one of Get Physical’s most influential tracks, ‘O Superman’ sees a new release with remixes from Man Power and SIS alongside the 2008 version from Robag Whrume and a remaster of the now classic original. Man Power kicks off the new interpretations with an epic, ten and half minute version that patiently stretches the original’s melodies into pads and held bass tones across crisp, micro-house styled beats before unleashing loose, clattering breakbeats after a striking, extended breakdown. SIS’s dreamy, percussive version sees the German producer in hypnotic, and tracky form, focussing on the ebb and flow of the original’s tuneful vocoder and synth work that drift across his perfect groove. Robag’s Pumper-Nikkel remix, for those that missed it some years back, is yet another funky, chopped, sliced and diced piece of work from the playful producer and still sounds as fresh as ever. M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade feat. Laurie Anderson - O Superman Remixes are released on Get Physical 12” in late July with a digital release following in the Autumn.

Cowboy Rhythmbox, Josh Caffe - Rock Music / You (Erol Alkan Reworks)

Erol Alkan returns to his vinyl Reworks series for ‘Part 6’ the first new pressing since 2017. A long-awaited addendum to a series that has previously encompassed artists including Daft Punk, Justice, Hot Chip and Tame Impala, Alkan delivers two club-friendly tracks from his own Phantasy Sound imprint, both previously only available digitally.

For a propulsive take on Josh Caffe’s emotionally defiant, warehouse-bound ‘You’, originally produced in collaboration with Quinn Whalley of Paranoid London, Alkan delves deep into a lifelong appreciation of Chicago house. Stripped, spacious and tough on the drums, Alkan keeps Caffe’s demands front and centre while riding out an irresistible bassline and conjuring a brooding, typically psychedelic atmosphere.

Flipping from minimal jack to maximal funk, Alkan pays a visit to the esoteric archives of Cowboy Rhythmbox, the partnership of much-loved London DJ Nathan Gregory Wilkins alongside pop-provocateur Richard X. ‘Rock Music’ arrives rescued from a dormant hard drive of demos, its frenetic collage of samples stitched back together and fully recharged for a circuit-frying electro workout by Alkan, operating here at full tilt for the dancefloor.

Love Affair

Bogdan Ra kicked off his new label Love Affair with some banging house cuts that threw it back to early Chicago styles. This third outing flips the script and shows his range with four disco sounds that take their cues from the late 70s and 80s: all the hallmarks are there, from the classic synths and vocoders to dusty drum machines. 'Complimento' is a smooth title track, while 'Shout' is a French-tinged funk workout., 'Paramour' glides through cosmic disco textures, while 'Fire in Cairo' brings an unexpected vocal twist and acrobatic bassline full of movement. Epicentre Feat Bernadette Bascom - Searchin / Tongue Tied (7")

Epicentre was an R&B/funk group formed in Seattle, Washington by keyboardist Ric Ulsky. The band developed a loyal following, playing the extensive NW club, concert and dance venues throughout the mid-to-late 1970s. Their sound was a blend of melodic R&B and powerhouse funk that dependably filled music venues throughout the Western US. Bernadette Bascom was the lead vocalist, who captivated audiences with her powerful yet velvet-smooth voice and commanding, magnetic stage presence.

In 1978, Epicentre worked with Seattle producer Don McKinney to record their music in Seattle's now legendary Kaye-Smith studios. The result was seven strong, fully -produced R&B songs, with occasional horn and string orchestrations tastefully added to the final versions.

Their music quite literally sat on a shelf for decades until McKinney decided that all the hard work and talent should no longer remain undiscovered and it needed to find its audience. He restored and digitized his copies of the master tapes and looked for an opportunity. A chance call to the former leader of the group, Kell Houston, led to a serendipitous introduction to UK boutique/funk/R&B label founder Russell Paine. The result was an agreement to release their music, starting with two songs, "When You Were In Love With Me", and "Magic Carpet."

And now the follow up single of "Searchin/Tongue Tied"

Footnotes: Lead singer Bernadette Bascom became a protegé of Stevie Wonder, and was the first artist to be signed to his label Black Bull , starting a period of collaboration between the two. Bermadette is the daughter of Reverend Dr. Marion C. Bascomb (1925-2012), one of Baltimore's major civil rights voices and pastor emeritus of Baltimore's Douglas Memorial Community Church. Ric Ulsky eventually left the group to play keyboards and tour extensively with The Association. You can also find Epicentre's music on the compilation album "Seattle Funk, Modern Soul & Boogie: Volume II 1972-1987." In addition to Bernadette, the musicians on the 1978 sessions are Kell Houston, keyboards, Michael Cox, bass, John Carmondy, guitar, and Ricky Lynn Johnson, drums and vocals. While their recorded material is primarily original, Stacy Christensen from Seattle's Gabriel contributed two of his compositions.

In 1979, Neil Fraser (artistically known as Mad Professor) founded Ariwa Sounds, the longest-serving and one of the most influential independently owned Reggae studios and record labels in the UK. From humble beginnings set up in the front room of Neil's home in South London recording on 4-track and homemade equipment, Ariwa would go on to record and release over 300 albums including works from some of the most impactful and storied artists of their time in the genres of Reggae, Dub, and Lovers Rock

Whilst our previous release in collaboration with Ariwa captured the label's early sound, a shared performance with Neil in Osaka and regular visits to his South London studio inspired us to assemble this 15-track compilation, showcasing the label's output across 45 years. Our release emphasizes some of the label's greatest vocalists: Johnny Clarke, Sandra Cross, Kofi, U Roy, Sister Nancy, Queen Omega, Aisha, Garnett Cross, Abel Miller, Horace Andy and more — presenting the Motown and Stax influences in the Lovers Rock, but also provides a glimpse into the dubbier and more experimental side of the label, showcasing Ariwa's commitment to quality but also their personality, philosophy and their humour. Love songs, break-up songs, socially engaged songs, dub experimentations — this compilation is not a "best of" Ariwa but a diverse and honest celebration of the label through the lens of Melodies International.

The compilation will be out in July in vinyl 2xLP, CD, digital formats, mastered from the original tapes by Frank Merritt (the Carvery), pressed at Optimal, artwork created by Jason Evans with design and assembly contributions from Nevil Bernard and Will Sweeney, animated teaser by Nevil Bernard and Melozine designed by Mafalda Meireles.

A3 - Chordzi takes a detour into lush, and beautiful electro territory, laid down with smooth sunny pads and cosmic acid lines, surely refreshing and satisfying for the body and mind.

The Third Room
20.08.2026

The final chapter of The Third Room's curator-led series is shaped by GiGi FM, an artist whose work moves fluidly between club functionality, emotional storytelling and immersive sound design. Through her productions and performances, she has developed a distinct language where rhythm, atmosphere and movement exist in constant dialogue. For the closing chapter, the focus lies on cohesion. Bringing together artists connected through a shared sensitivity for groove, detail and space, the release unfolds through percussive structures and atmospheric elements that move with clarity, depth and intention. The Half Bearded Man by Fergus Sweetland opens the record. A rough yet detailed rhythmic framework, syncopated percussion and a rolling bassline create forward motion, while softer elements and a subtle vocal layer introduce a contrasting sense of lightness, drawing the listener into the track. On Shark Attak, D-Leria places percussion at the centre, but with a more restrained approach. Polyrhythmic bleeps and high-frequency sweeps weave around the groove, maintaining depth and tension without becoming intrusive, giving the track a quiet but persistent drive. The B-side opens with one of its defining moments: Anukari, a collaboration between Efdemin and GiGi FM. Bringing together two distinct approaches, the track unfolds as a layered and atmospheric piece: detailed percussion, connecting textures and subtle melodic fragments create a sense of depth that feels both modern and slightly otherworldly, while remaining inviting and grounded. Closing the record, Even by Fireground reduces the elements further. Warm chords and a restrained rhythmic core create an open, enveloping space, balancing softness with tension and allowing the track to unfold with a quiet sense of momentum. Across all four tracks, the release remains tightly cohesive: built on groove, space and carefully placed detail. As the final entry in the series, it shifts the focus from structure to flow, offering a closing chapter that feels immersive, connected and complete. One of the best mid 70s roots tunes, reissued the way we always wanted to see it. Topdown Dialectic - False LP (2x12")

Since the early 2010s, photographer and producer Izaak Schlossman has been surreptitiously using the Topdown Dialectic moniker to frame his most enigmatic and most psychedelic productions: faceless pure sound experiments that ogled dub and techno archetypes from somewhere far beyond the veil. This generous 2LP collection surveys over a decade of persistent activity, pulling together recently unearthed gear written between 2013 and 2016 (the same time period as the iconic Peak Oil trilogy) and muddling it with more contemporary material. It's a rare chance to fully comprehend the slow, measured evolution of the project: its genesis as a method to fractalize various bass music frequencies with suggestion rather than over-compression, and its ongoing advancement through sensitively finessed ASMR ambiance towards spangled neo-psychedelia.

So it's no surprise that the lengthy suite of five-minute snapshots was initially devised while Schlossman was preparing for his first ever Topdown Dialectic live appearance in 2025. A hazed early morning, open air performance that's still lodged in the memory banks of anyone who witnessed it, the set provided the narrative anchor for the album, blurring the past and present and reaching tentatively into the future - ideal material for audiences whose brains are fully plasticized. The tracks, while divided, sound as if they're breathing over and into one another; beats and phrases materialize and dissolve just for moments, leaving the mind to fill in the gaps with any available sonic material. What might reflect the bright neon light of acid house at first soon embodies the flicker of a candle over a desk of drum machines in a Midwestern basement, or the first blush of sunlight over a tiny campground as subwoofers creak in the distance.

It's music that asks the listener to be involved in the creation itself, projecting their own shapes on the negative space, their discreet fantasies on haunted stretches of near silence. Schlossman's identity was never the point, Topdown Dialectic was always a scrying stone intended to divine far more personal revelations.

Kid Bucle - Memorabilia EP

Since its inception, Isness has developed its own identity alongside Analogical Force, focusing on atmospheric and introspective electronics. For its third release, the label welcomes Kid Bucle, the new alias of Ibrah PM, formerly known as Malsum within the d&b scene. Across six interconnected tracks, the Memorabilia EP explores memory, landscape and emotion through fluid compositions and richly detailed sound design. Echoes of labels such as Merck or Chocolate Industries can be felt throughout, alongside traces of classic IDM, yet the result remains fresh and distinctly contemporary. Rather than seeking immediate impact, the EP rewards attentive listening, gradually revealing new layers with every return. Deeply immersive and emotionally resonant, Memorabilia further reinforces Isness as a platform where atmosphere, narrative and emotional depth take center stage.

The Third Room
20.08.2026

The fifth chapter of The Third Room's curator-led series is shaped by Alarico, one of the defining voices of a new generation pushing techno into faster, sharper and more rhythm-driven territory. Through his productions, DJ sets and close ties to a network of like-minded artists, he has helped shape a contemporary sound defined by tension, detail and forward momentum. For his curation, the focus lies on connection. Bringing together artists operating within a shared sonic language, the release reflects a generation where precision, movement and emotional depth exist in constant dialogue. The record opens with Connection, a first official collaboration between Yanamaste and Alarico. The track captures the intersection of both artists' approaches: Yanamaste's intricate and distinctive synth work meets Alarico's driving, forward momentum. Fast, pulsing and tightly controlled, it unfolds through cycles of tension and release, stripped back to its essential elements. On Crimson Leaf Minstre, Toru Ikemoto builds a detailed and contrasting sound palette. Bright, delicate elements interact with darker stabs that disrupt and reshape the rolling bassline, creating a sense of movement that feels continuous rather than moment-based. The track leans into depth and variation, balancing clarity with a more mysterious tone. Blue Lights by Lea Occhi & Amotik shifts into a more groove-led space. What begins with a functional framework gradually opens up - subtle chords and restrained vocal elements add texture and attitude without overtaking the structure, resulting in a track that feels both light and deep. Closing the record, IB1809 sees Alarico return with a defining statement. Reduced but highly present, the track builds around a strong rhythmic core, where chords, melody and vocal fragments interlock with precision. There is a sense of contrast at play - melancholic yet driven, vulnerable yet forceful - culminating in a moment that feels both functional and expansive. Across all four tracks, the release remains tightly focused - fast, dynamic and cohesive, with a strong emphasis on movement and detail. As the fifth entry in the series, it captures a distinctly modern strain of techno, where emotional nuance and rhythmic intensity are no longer in opposition, but fully aligned. Repress! Back by popular demand–VSR 001 is designed to take you to the outer reaches of where you need to go. Wiersma has created a world where with your eyes closed and head down, the dance-floor can transport you to the outer reaches of space and back again for another beautiful night with all your favorite people.

Vermilion Sun Records was started as a passion project in 2025 with a belief in the magic of physical media juxtaposed against the incursion of AI. The original release featured just 100 copies and utilized US-only distribution; it was sold out in less than 5 months. After being brought across the pond from Boston to Brussels by local DJ & tastemaker Rasaaq, it was subsequently shared, quickly gaining popularity on Discogs. This repress is a testament to Vermilion Sun’s core belief; that is meant to be shared and enjoyed by everyone, and there is magic in that ritual.

Wiersma is a cherished member of the electronic music scene in Boston/Cambridge, MA. A DJ, partygoer, and prolific producer, he has played many of the city’s favorite nights sharing bills with other local talent and setting the stage for international acts like Bradley Zero, Garrett David, and Cinthie. Tapping all of these channels brings forth a creativity where memories from nights in Boston and other global travel transform his unique productions. His release VSR 001 showcases this style, exploring the darker and proggier sides of the house universe while making sure to stay tethered to a reality with firm roots on the dancefloor. A1 begins with Once Around Vega where a cinematic opening draws you into groovy and spacey loops demanding you to move. Syntactic Roles churns more deeply, incorporating layered dystopian vocals, rolling basslines and light acidity that is sure to help you close your eyes and put your head down for a dance. 18.08.2026

UK-based reggae veteran Macka B takes listeners on a journey back to the roots of Jamaican music with the release of his new single, “Memories.”

Recorded over the powerful Diverse Doctrine Riddim, “Memories” is a tribute to the golden era of reggae, celebrating a time when Roots Reggae dominated the dance halls and the term “dancehall” referred to the sound system sessions rather than the genre it would later become.

With enthralling lyrics and authentic reggae instrumentation, Macka B reflects on the lively dancehall culture of the 1970s—a period when conscious roots music, militant messages, heavyweight sound systems, and spirited community gatherings defined Jamaica’s musical landscape.

Known for his commitment to positive reggae music and socially conscious storytelling, Macka B once again delivers a recording that honors the genre’s legacy while resonating with longtime reggae enthusiasts and new listeners alike.

This record was born as a tribute to two great classics of Latin music: “El Reloj” and “Lluvia con nieve”, two songs that have travelled through decades while keeping their popular and emotional power intact.

On the A side, “El Reloj”, composed by Roberto Cantoral, popularised by Trío Los Tres Caballeros and later covered by artists such as Los Panchos and Luis Miguel, is transformed into an elegant rocksteady version, preserving its romantic and melancholic character.

On the B side, “Lluvia con nieve”, a song associated with Mon Rivera, takes the form of an instrumental ska piece, full of bright and danceable energy, led by the horns, the rhythm and the melodic arrangements.

This release is part of Latin Goes Ska, a collaboration between Gatzara Records, Sotasons and STQBlack, together with The Jeggaes, Memi Sillah and Lenin “Güiroloco”. A meeting point between Latin music, rocksteady and ska, conceived as both a tribute and a celebration.

Mutual Rytm
18.08.2026

Swiss techno icon Deetron shows his class with a new four-track EP on Mutual Rytm's sub-label, X.

Deetron is one of the most respected producers of his time. From sleek house to deep techno, he brings impeccable sound designs and melodic elegance to his work while remaining true to his authentic signature sound. He always delivers, whether landing via labels like Ilian Tape under his Soulmate guise or via the likes of Axis and Music Man, and that quality is on show once again as he brings the class on this new EP via the sub-label of SHDW's Mutual Rytm.

First up, 'Translate Rhythms' layers jazzy, de-tuned melodies into a quick and slick deep techno groove. It's a colourful and playful sound with a serious impact. 'Cause' is a more heads-down and moody sound with walls of drums and bass rolling beneath raw percussive loops and tight vocal stabs that ramp up the energy levels. The fantastic 'Move' brings grainy pads, inescapable bass weight and bulky drum loops to make for an immovable wedge of serious concrete techno funk. Last is the digital bonus cut 'Orbit', which heads off to the stars with a deepspace
vibe, swirling pads and minimal drums that tap out a rumbling groove.

HIROSHI YOSHIMURA - QUIET FOREST

*First-ever release on vinyl
*Produced in full cooperation with Hiroshi Yoshimura's estate
*Remastered from original sources by John Baldwin
*English translations of original 1996 release liner notes
*Reproductions of Yoshimura's handwritten recording notes
*Vinyl includes 5" x 7" postcard print

"My encounter with the Hoh Rain Forest, located inside Olympic National Park across the water from Seattle, felt like seeing a whole new world for the first time in my life. Long green fronds draped along the branches, like a scene in which fairies could be heard whispering to one another. But when you try to listen, no sound can be heard. Amidst the mysterious silence, in which no birds or insects make a sound, every living thing seemed to have stopped in its place, only to start dancing when some kind of spell is cast over them.
-Hiroshi Yoshimura

Originally issued on compact disc in 1996, Quiet Forest was Hiroshi Yoshimura’s last album-length work to be released before his passing in 2003. Largely inspired by his trip to the vast forests of the North American Pacific Northwest, the album is an aural reflection of the fantastical, surreal beauty he experienced as he walked through the otherworldly wilderness for the first time. The basic tracks were recorded in the fall of 1993. After numerous revisions to the song titles and a scrapped idea to overlay the tracks with nature field recordings, Hiroshi ultimately produced a latter-day masterwork that feels like the spiritual follow-up to Green, one of his defining works from a decade earlier."

Anna Kost on Calder City Development Corp, catalogue CCDC011. Six cuts, techno chassis, electro swing, experimental dust on top. View and Shallows ease you in, Keep Turning is the one that holds a room. Jeanette and Mode 19 go harder, more machine, less song. Trace pulls back at the end, leaves some air. ISLE OF JURA RECORDS
04.12.2026

Isle of Jura is proud to present the first official reissue of Esa’s self titled LP originally released in 1987. Following the 2024 reissue of iconic single 'A Muto', this full album release marks a bittersweet milestone for the label. Developed in close collaboration with the estate of the legendary producer Martin Socko Moukoko following his passing last year, this reissue stands as both a definitive archival release and a respectful tribute to his legacy in Cameroonian music.

Originally released on Atesa in 1987, Esa is a pristine encapsulation of the "Paris Makossa" phenomenon. In the mid 1980s, Cameroon’s finest musical minds migrated to Parisian studios, cross pollinating traditional rhythms with cutting edge European studio electronics and Antillean Zouk sensibilities. At the absolute center of this movement was visionary producer Martin Socko Moukoko. The album is driven by the dancefloor anthem 'A Muto', which showcases a brilliant fusion of horn heavy Makossa and slick Antillean Zouk. Across the five other expansive, spiritual tracks, the sonic template expands significantly. Striking a perfect balance between the urban, brass led grooves of Douala Makossa and the fast, driving, syncopated polyrhythms of Cameroonian Bikutsi, the LP delivers a unique rhythmic energy. These traditional backbones are seamlessly laced with Martin Socko Moukoko’s advanced studio programming, bubbling digital synthesisers, slinky slap bass, and rich, layered harmony vocals.

By bringing the full LP back into print alongside Martin Socko Moukoko’s family, Isle of Jura ensures that his musical legacy is preserved, allowing this timeless intersection of Cameroonian tradition and electronic innovation to be heard exactly as it was intended.

A 180 gram pressing in a 3mm full sleeve designed by Bradley Pinkerton.

At the height of grunge, Morphine sounded like nobody else. The Boston trio built their own strange, seductive musical language (coined "low rock" by frontman Mark Sandman), built around Sandman's two-string slide bass and unmistakable voice, Dana Colley’s baritone & tenor saxophone, and stripped-back drums (Jerome Deupree, Billy Conway). Morphine became one of the defining cult bands of the ’90s, but their story came to an abrupt end in 1999, when Sandman suffered a fatal heart attack on stage during a concert in Italy.

More than 25 years later, Cocoon offers an extraordinary final chapter. Its eight songs were recorded during Morphine’s late-’90s sessions before Sandman ultimately shelved the material on the path toward what would become their final album. Rediscovered in the band’s archives decades later, Sandman’s life partner and Morphine estate manager Sabine Hrechdakian and producer Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies) transferred the original tapes and carefully assembled this unified collection of Morphine songs. Dana Colley returned to add new saxophone parts, and Kolderie then brought new mixes to the table. Rather than a collection of demos or outtakes, Cocoon is a fully realized Morphine album revealing a band still pushing forward that somehow waited nearly three decades to find its way into the world

Album Background

The background on the album is that the majority of the songs existed in demo form on a CD release called "Sandbox" a semi-legit release of Mark Sandman music on 2004. These versions are the completed tracks that include contributions from Morphine saxphonist
Dana Colley and produced and mastered by Morphine's long time producer Paul Kolderie.

Mario Batkovic’s music occupies a singular space between composition, performance and sonic experimentation.
Based in Bern, Switzerland, the composer, accordionist and multi-instrumentalist has developed an intensely personal musical language rooted in a radical interrogation of the accordion — its timbre, mechanics, physicality and rhythmic potential. In Batkovic’s hands, the instrument becomes something far beyond its conventional role: a source of intricate, evolving sound in which performer and machine appear to become one.
Batkovic received International critical acclaim when his eponymous debut album was released on Invada Records in 2017, with Rolling Stone listing it in the top 10 avant-garde albums of the year. ‘INTROSPECTIO’ followed, a self-questioning, self-examination of society which featured collaborations with Colin Stetson, James Holden and Clive Deamer (Radiohead / Portishead).
II sees Batkovic venture further into radical, uncompromising and experimental territory, both in the reduction and the expansion of sound. Voices overlap, rhythmic structures develop an almost mechanical force, and layers of sound evoke analogue synthesizers. Then everything falls away: near-total silence, the breath of the bellows, a single frequency. Sounds emerge that can barely be traced back to any particular instrument.
The album is built entirely around the physical relationship between one musician and one instrument. No loops, no electronic layers. Everything you hear comes from an uncompromising exploration of the instrument itself. A primal force of creation and destruction.
With credits that include music for the global hit game 'Red Dead Redemption II’, commissions for AMI Paris, Cartier Fondation, Hugo Boss, Chanel and film scores ‘Mad Heidi’ and ’Shame and Money’ his compositional work has extended into some of the most distinctive fields of contemporary culture.

Heir to French Touch, French 79 opens a radical new chapter with his fourth album, Close to the Giants. For this project, French 79 relocated his studio deep into the wilderness, standing alone against the elements from high alpine peaks to the open sea. Armed with a portable modular synthesizer, he composed the entire album in the very heart of nature.

Fueled by the raw adrenaline of the elements, French 79 translates the intensity of his emotional journeys into a raw, moving electronic language—navigating from electronica to dance and tech-house, by way of electropop and French Touch.

Far more than an album, it is an intuitive, intense, and compelling logbook of a quest for solitude and human experience, honoring the legacy of French electro pioneers through signature analog arpeggios, hazy synths, and spellbinding melodies.

Misled Convoy - Apply The Dub (The Adrian Sherwood Mixes)

Following 2024’s Echoes of the Night EP, Michael Hodgson returns with Apply the Dub: four stunning new Adrian Sherwood remixes, this time of his long-running solo project, Misled Convoy.

The EP’s title is a nod to Sherwood’s renowned process in which tracks are not simply remixed, but dismantled, fed into his dub machinery and reimagined. The results are spacious and compelling, epic in scope, rich in detail and loaded with bass.

The prophetic voice of Kat Five (Feral Five) looms large on the opening track, as does Miho Wada’s flute on the last. David “Ital Horns” Fullwood returns to the project, providing trumpet to two of the tunes, while Doug Wimbish (Tack>>Head / Living Colour) adds bass, and Mark Bandola (The Lucy Show) guitar and keys, to a different pair of remixes.

The sessions began in 2025, with the original tracks drawn from the more experimental and industrial side of Misled Convoy, giving Sherwood plenty of room to work with sonically. In his Ramsgate studio, frequencies were pulled apart, bass lines elevated and melodies stretched while sounds disappeared into layers of delay, echo and dub processing before emerging dazed & confused and somewhere else entirely.

Since dub is the compositional glue that fuels Hodgson’s creative dynamic, this collaboration meant reverse engineering his process and stripping his compositions back to the bare bones: “Before we hit the studio, I had to remove a whole lot of my effects to make space for Adrian, which made the track sound empty and super weird, but this is how the magic happens. When you do a remix, you are inviting an artist you respect into your creative process and watch it get reimagined. This is a big part of dub and remix culture.”

Very much a meeting of two complementary approaches to sound, Apply the Dub has Hodgson’s dark and atmospheric electronica enhanced and deeply embellished by Sherwood’s long-established sonic manipulation and dub-mixing.

For Hodgson, the connection with Sherwood and On-U Sound has been life-long, from being a fan in his youth in Aotearoa New Zealand to supporting Patrick Docktor’s archiving of the label’s video and audio collection in London. In 2019 Sherwood invited Hodgson to collaborate with artist Peter Harris to create a visual backdrop to accompany his Time Boom X The Upsetter Dub Sessions tour. Hodgson went on to create videos for On-U’s 40th anniversary celebration at The Forum in London, helped with the immersive 3D Live Dub Experience at Earth Theatre and travelled to Japan for the Collapse of Everything tour where he worked on live video triggering for Sherwood’s shows.
