Bruno Pronsato hat schon länger erfolgreich Erwartungen in der Techno- und House-Szene untergraben. Pronsato kehrt nun mit seinem neuen Album zurück ins Rampenlicht. In Zusammenarbeit mit Yonatan Levi hat er "A Face Wasted On The Theatre" geschrieben und produziert. Diese Verbindung ist bereits bestens eingespielt: Seit 2014 arbeiten die beiden immer wieder zusammen. Das neue Album entstand in zwei verschiedenen Studios im Prenzlauer Berg, der Wahlheimat des Texaners Steven Ford, wie Pronsato bürgerlich heißt, - und zwar meist nachmittags und nicht etwa in tiefer Nacht. Auf sechs der acht Songs ist Levi alias L.A.Teen erneut am Bass zu hören, weitere Gäste sind der Komponist und Produzent Peter Gordon und der israelische Saxofonist Yonatan Yudkowitz. Auch Levi stammt aus Tel Aviv und ist klassisch ausgebildeter Gitarrist und Bassist. Er ging einst in die USA und machte sich in der New Yorker Jazz-Szene einen Namen.

On A Mission is exactly that, 'a mission of love, a mission of peace'. The positive vocals hark back to those of early 90s house tracks, which created unity through music and clubbing. The rhythmic beat of the drum is determined, as percussive layers build and the vocals bleed into the synths. Francois K provides two variations of the track. His remix features more prominent drumbeats driven by a growling bassline. On his rockers dub version, Francois goes all out and dubs us into the stratosphere. Up next is the Michael Mayer remix, with a more electronic take on the original with driving synths and a whirring, throbbing bass-line.
Created in 1982, Rockers Revenge was the brainchild of Arthur Baker and Donnie Calvin. Donnie provided lead vocals with Baker's wife, Tina B, Dwight Hawkes and Adrienne Dupree Johnson on backing vocals. Their most prominent track, Walking On Sunshine, was a post-disco hit reaching #1 in the US dance charts and #4 in the UK charts.
Three years ago Baker and Hawkes reconnected through social media with Baker sending through his original Mission idea. Baker is known for his work with hip hop artists like Afrika Bambaataa, Planet Patrol, and New Order whilst also remixing the Pet Shop Boys' 1986 hit In The Night. Fast forward to 2018 and the group performed a monumental live show at Get Lost Miami, and are currently in the studio working on new material. This Summer they will shoot a new documentary and perform live at various events.
The War On Drugs announce their fourth full-length album, A Deeper Understanding, out August 25th on Atlantic Records. A Deeper Understanding is the band's first album since 2014's universally acclaimed Lost In The Dream, and their debut album with Atlantic. Following the Record Store Day release of the 11-minute Thinking of a Place,' The War On Drugs present the album's lead single, Holding On.'
For much of the three and a half year period since the release of Lost In The Dream, The War On Drugs' frontman, Adam Granduciel, led the charge for his Philadelphia-based sextet as he holed up in studios in New York and Los Angeles to write, record, edit, and tinker—but, above all, to busy himself in work. Teaming up with engineer Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Weezer), Granduciel challenged the notion of what it means to create a fully realized piece of music in today's modern landscape. Calling on his bandmates - bassist Dave Hartley, keyboarding Robbie Bennett, drummer Charlie Hall and multi-instrumentalists Anthony LaMarca and Jon Natchez -- continuously throughout the process, the result is a band record' in the noblest sense, featuring collaboration, coordination, and confidence at every turn. Through those years of relocation, the revisiting and reexamining of endless hours of recordings, unbridled exploration and exuberance, Granduciel's gritty love of his craft succeeded in pushing the band to great heights.

As history showed, he continued that bloodline with finesse and authority. When Acid Jazz founder Eddie Piller asked Martin Freeman ('The Hobbit', 'Sherlock', 'The Office') to do a jazz radio show they could hardly imagine the response. From around the world emails and tweets inundated the show and they swore to themselves that they couldn't leave it there.

They approached in indemand vocals of Jay Nemor from the states., who layed over some killer sultry lyrics and tones.The song was only in demo form, so Super Disco Edits in house engineer Matt Fletcher and Owner of Super Disco Edits Russell Paine gave the song the boost and heaviness it desired! In June 2018 Margie Comes To The Uk Where She Is Reunited With Lamont Dozier Who Also Wrote And Produced For Her At Atlantic. Both Appear At The Blackpool International Soul Festival.
Crown Of Brahma are Charles Stella, Nicole Willis & Daniel Wyatt. The songs An Angel On My Shoulder & And I'll Be Free As A Bird were recorded in the period between 1995-1997, originally set for release on an LP on Rawkus Records in 1997. This album would have followed the release of the group, Repercussions, album Charmed Life (Pony Canyon, 1997).
Nicole Willis was the lead singer / songwriter of this group. Charles Stella & Daniel Wyatt worked together at Temple Of Soul in New York City, where some of Charmed Life was also recorded. These two vocal tracks have never been commercially released, however were heard by Tommi Grönlund of Sähkö Recordings and Leftfield, who requested to work with Ms Willis in result.
The two tracks have been remastered in 2017 by Charles Stella.
Following on from OTIS002 Jon & Hugh - Another view, one half of the production duo and OTIS label boss Hugh B steps out on his own for OTIS003. Floating On a Trippy Biscuit is a 4 track excursion through deep textures, roaming drum machines, sliced breaks and dub echoes. With a nod to early Jungle duos (RIP), a psychedelic love letter to UK Broken Beat, a remix from OTIS family member Sean Thomas that pays respect to the UK Deep scene of the late 90s and a deep, valium-laced House groove designed for post-rave reflection. OTIS003 is a dreamy meditation amidst the occasional chaos of the rave, a blissful trip through the styles of 'dance music' this label holds dear.

In celebration of 20+ years since their classic debut Uptown Saturday Night, Bronx duo Camp Lo present a special double-album 2XLP with On The Way Uptown & The Get Down Brothers. On The Way Uptown features a collection of demos and unreleased songs made between 94' - 95', leading to their official debut in early 1997. Aside from the early versions of their hits Luchini (AKA This Is It),' Sparkle,' Black Connection,' and Coolie High', other standouts include World Heist', Coolie High Is Life' & A Piece of the Action'.
On The Get Down Brothers, Camp Lo completely pivot away from their 90's nostalgia into a much more futuristic and experimental sound. Although the production is different, their signature tongue-twisting and hype flows remain, creating a unique and seamless fusion packed into 10 dynamic tracks.

It's been a couple years, but I've put together a new record, this time with my neighbor Stu and a few other friends. Stu's been tuning the piano Linda and I were using for our Lejsovka & Freund and Trouble Books recordings, and I've always enjoyed the test scales and vignettes he would run through checking his work.
I floated the idea to collaborate on a sort of 70s/80s ECM kinda vibe, and soon started bringing my laptop and a couple microphones over to his house to collect his improvisations and have him add to pieces I had started. Other friends from the neighborhood dropped by to add parts here and there as well.
The recordings were made primarily in the summers of 2016 & 2017 (with a break in-between to mourn the triumph of neo-fascism as well as the passing of beloved pets). Ultimately I tried to follow the feel of those summer nights and the tranquility they offered. Open air or at least open windows, drifting along, you know"

Aqueduct Ensemble is a collaboration between Ohio based artist Keith Freund - who has previously released music as part of both Lejsovka & Freund and Trouble Books - and his neighbour Stu, who is a piano tuner and professional pianist. Their debut album together, "Improvisations On An Apricot" is the second release from label Last Resort, and follows G.S Schray's "Gabriel" (2017) - the sleeves for which were both designed by Keith, who does does all the art direction for the label. Beginning life in 2013 as an NTS radio show of the same name, Last Resort is run by Tom Cathcart from his home in London.
