Have you ever wondered what might happen when you collide Mighty Ryeders' timeless rare-groove classic 'Evil Vibrations' and De La Soul's iconic hip-hop jam 'A Roller Skating Jam Named 'Saturdays'' into one new tune? Well, wonder now more, because that's exactly what Groove-Diggers have done here. This fresh version blends the sampled parts of 'Evil Vibrations' with De La Soul's raps and vocals while Japanese hip-hop group FNCY have added their own new mic work into the mix as a way of paying tribute to De La Soul's original hit. Also included is a Japanese cover of 'Evil Vibrations' by Taiwanese jazz and neo-soul singer 9m88 which brings a whole different respective. A fun and sure-to-be effective package.

Life Elsewhere marks the striking debut of Catalan artist Oriol Cebrián, working under his Absent Corps alias. Estado de Bienestar is the bold new solo project from Nico Cabañas, co-founder of the record label Oráculo Records and Ombra Festival. Emerging from a period of personal transformation, the project marks a departure from Cabañas’s earlier ventures — including Synths Versus Me (“So Far”, 22 Recordings) and Almax und Forte (“Nois d’Avui”, Oráculo Records). The latter had already begun shaping the sonic direction Cabañas now fully embraces: a raw, visceral, and fully analog “proto” sound. Jason Velo hails from Wisconsin and has been DJing for years, mostly in the rams of Chicago and Detroit house., He has recently decided to branch out into production and this latest outing comes on Noonish and is deep, groovy and minimal house for afterparties in cosy basements. Opener 'Dream Wheel' has diffuse, humid chords radiating out of a gentry bumping deep house groove, while 'Slow Burn' is just that with its horizontal vibes and gentle patter of drums over a nice rolling bassline. 'Lost Remote' is far less anxious than the situation it describes, though it does have a more eerie and cosmic feel than the others with its deft melodies and larger sense of scales. Tasteful stuff.

Khidi resident Laduka ninua aka Sevda steps into the spotlight with his first solo EP - Relocate My Fantasy, released on Fantastic Planet. Blending an analog touch with the pulse of modern progressive house, Sevda crafts a sound that just might define this decade.

For the upcoming release on KNTXT, label boss Charlotte de Witte announces a dual EP release. “The Selected EP and Pressure EP, to me, are the perfect reflection of the music I have been playing over the years.” says Charlotte de Witte. “On the Selected EP people will find the straightforward Techno sound with the Acid twist, that I love to bring to the floor when I’m touring.”
“It’s counterpart, the Pressure Ep, is an extension of the mixes that I assemble for my BBC Residency.

A more ambient approach, that’s rougher around the edges.”“Both releases can be seen as an ode to the techno I love and cherish.” concludes de Witte. On the subject of the dual release Charlotte says “For me this duality is essential to explore my interests both as a producer and DJ. Therefore it also made sense to me to release them simultaneously, as we also combine our label releases with events and our weekly radio show.”

Portuguese based Nørbak returns to Soma with his second single for the label, the Myelination EP. Nørbak is quickly making a name for himself in the global scene and has just completed his debut album to much critical acclaim. The young producer has built a wealth of knowledge on sound design and is clearly represented in his music which is deep and rich in sonic experiments whilst retaining dancefloor focus. This latest EP has Spanish techno maestro Oscar Mulero & fellow Portuguese talent Lewis Fautzi, deliver two fantastic remixes that perfectly compliment the originals.

Nørbak's "Myelination" starts the EP with driving percussive elements that propel the track from the opening. Swamped with light & ethereal FX, dark and droning sounds take the track down a ominous path. Lewis Fautzi steps up next with his remix of Myelination. With a more minimalistic interpretation he manages to continue the dark and direct momentum of the original. On the flip, Mirante rattle hards with steady and precise percussion, bolted together with heavy rolling kicks and sub and a perfectly muted rhythm throughout. Techno don Oscar Mulero closes the EP with his version of Mirante. He immediately ups the ante with driving 909 beats and huge atmospheric FX that guide the rhythms. Mulero always on point with his signature sound design and techno aesthetic.

"EASY EVIL" was recently comped on the tenth volume in the famous PRAISE POEMS series. As you may know it is a LP-only cut so we have decided to release this beautiful version on a good old 45 RPM single. On the B-side is the wonderful "IN THE NAME OF LOVE" which can easily keep up with Kenny Rankin's version.

VHF debut and second widely-available LP by Liam, part of a new generation of underground “American primitive” guitar players serving the traditions and smashing them up simultaneously. Prodigal Son is a portrait of an artist on the road, changing fast, recording things as they spring from the fountain. The sound here is raw – grass and dirt instead of pre-fab; homemade/handmade instead of high-tech, etc. There’s a visceral quality and immediacy of culture that’s being lost every day in modern life – Prodigal Son is a chance to grab some of it back. “Palmyra” has Liam on weissenborn-style lap steel, the sound fuzzed out and distorted by the guerilla recording technique. “Salmon Tails Up The River” stretches out to nearly 13 minutes, a dense meditation on 12 string that sustains a dark and heavy mood for the entire duration. On the B side, “Insult to Injury” reverses the mood, with an elegant and unhurried 12 string sequel of deep beauty. Liam’s unexpected take on Loren Conners’ “A Moment at the Door” is a perfect translation of Loren’s reverb-heavy electric drift to unadorned acoustic (and tape hiss) – a frozen moment of absolute grace. Wrapping things up is a take on “Old Country Rock,” with fiddle and banjo, just a brief taste of the barnstorming old-time sound of Liam’s touring trio.

Mr. Face, a four-song EP that's a terrific showcase for Segall's artfully ragged style. All copies are pressed on split color translucent red and blue-colored vinyl and come with special Mr. Face 3-D glasses to activate the supercharged 3D artwork.

In 1983, Chateau, a San Francisco based boogie funk band, won the KRE Radio Hot Fun In The Sun Battle of the Bands in Mosswood Park, Oakland. As a prize, they received $5000 (approximately 8 hours) of studio time and a pressing run of 200 45s.Chateau included Alan Ross on lead vocals and percussion, singer Damara 'Candy' Stepney, and Kevin Dailey who sang and played saxophone, bass, and guitar.

Melvin Jones was on horn and keys, Dennis Knepper played keyboard, Frank Lemon played drums, Lemon's cousin Michael Clark played rhythm guitar, Doug Hearne played guitar and Bill Ortiz (from Santana) contributed trumpet parts.Chateau only released one 7-inch single in 1984, but to this day 'Feelings' is, arguably so, one of the most sought-after West Coast slices of funk.Jerome Derradji and Past Due Records are proud to officially reissue this incredible slice of boogie.
