It took a long time – ten years – for his talismanic song, ‘Ça ira tu verras’, to prove his prophecies right, at a time when, everywhere else in the world, nothing seems to be going right. And if everything is going well for Séverin, it’s because he’s managed to build himself a bulwark, an impregnable citadel, and his records now exude a whiff of simplified idealism, with the influence of Souchon and Voulzy never far from his pen and guitar as he brings his bittersweet moods to life in verses and choruses.


But above all, he knows how to invent new settings for himself, push back the boundaries, step beyond the walls of his Parisian studio to go and see how things sound elsewhere. Recorded at Chale Abbey Studios on the Isle of Wight (UK), Séverin once again wanted to let the collective spirit of his regular collaborators take centre stage. Ambroise ‘Sage’ Willaume and Jérémie Arcache, who featured on the previous album *Nouveaux Dinosaures*, once again form the backbone of the band, on guitar and keyboards respectively. Bassist Théodora Delillez (Astral Bakers) and Canadian drummer Robbie Kuster complete the band’s core line-up, which, in just six days at this electric priory, went on to achieve – judge for yourselves – nothing short of miracles.


Whilst all around us the war on falsehood rages – from AI to post-truth, all these fake debates, hypocrites and false values – here is an album that doesn’t cut corners when it comes to emotions, nor in the way it sets them to music.

Side A, "All I Need Is Your Love," is a smooth reggae rework of a boogie classic, featuring Prince Jeepni's effortless vocals over a rolling groove produced by Diamond Ortiz. Flip it over for the dub version of "Psycho For Your Love," a deep, hypnotic ride co-produced by King Hippo and Prince Jeepni himself. Part of the Spliff Funk series — reggae covers of boogie classics — this black vinyl 7" comes in a picture sleeve and marks the first time Funk Freaks Records is available through distribution. Tapper Zukie was high on a list of artists that Richard Branson in 1978 had in mind to sign to his new Reggae label Front Line.
The mission was to sign the cream of the reggae crop when the Virgin record boss went down to Jamaica with a group of Reggae minded people,included in that group was one Johnny Rotten,singer of the very recently disbanded group The Sex Pistols.
The result of which would be a two album deal between Tapper and the label.
The first release also in 1978 was the album Peace in the Ghetto(Kingston Sounds KS052) and this release Tapper Roots.
For the cd issue of this release,Tapper has picked two tracks that he feels hapy to put alongside the album.

The other three tracks aren’t half bad either. Take our word for it.

Frequent collaborators Adam Ten & Yamagucci drop 'Keep Workin’' on Rekids, with a remix from label boss Radio Slave. The single is an irresistible club tool with immeasurable bass weight. Bold, rubbery drums and grinding low-end combine in bouncy fashion while a vocal fragment loops up top to create perfect dance floor tension. Brighter chords eventually rise through the mix, providing emotional release that will get hands in the air and take things to the next level.

On the remix, Radio Slave strips the original ‘Keep Workin’’ back to dusty, shuffling drums with jazzy flourishes. The track has a live, lived-in feel, complete with vulnerable piano keys that haunt the spaces above its weighty groove and transfix any crowd with eerie beauty.

Adam Ten is a long-time House innovator, Maccabi House co-founder and Upon You Records and Higher Ground artist, with over twenty Top 10 Beatport releases and millions of streams to his name. He blends the grit of Techno with escapist melodies in versatile, curious sets and productions that have earned him bookings worldwide. Yamagucci has made an equal impact on the world stage through his field recordings and organic percussion, adding a unique twist to his tracks on labels like Disco Halal, as well as Diynamic and Crosstown Rebels, labels that Adam Ten and Yamagucci have also collaborated on together.

South Asian super-producers Lapgan and Baalti – the former a Madlib-disciple spinning hip-hop grooves out of dusty desi samples, the latter duo purveyors of intricately tapestried dance music – holed up in the California desert in early 2024 for a songwriting session to blend their complimentary styles. They ended up with several albums worth of club material built upon decades of Indian music history – floor fillers that move like early Four Tet meets The Avalanches. They’ve been teasing this material around the world during live sets – from Paris Fashion Week to Glastonbury, London Clubs to BK Warehouse parties, sessions at Lot Radio and Karachi Community Radio, and anywhere else they find an aux. The result has been endless ID requests for unreleased gems like “Ipa Ma” and “Lime Tikka”, calls which should finally be answered with the release of Threads.

Lapgan Bio
Chicago-based archivist and producer Lapgan has become renowned for his signature style: unearthing rare and forgotten Indian & Pakistani sounds and recontextualizing them into hip-hop and dance beats that evoke J Dilla and Madlib. He has cultivated a reputation for quietly revolutionary sample-work across his beloved solo projects History and Duniya Kya Hai, as well as LAFANDAR, his critically acclaimed team up with Heems (of Das Racist / Swet Shop Boys). He has worked with a range of artists from both the West (Your Old Droog, Saul Williams, Cool Calm Pete, Kool Keith, Open Mike Eagle, Blue, Quelle Chris) and the East (EXCISE DEPT, Baalti, Sid Sriram, Sid Vashi, Dynoman), and has been featured in global media including Pitchfork, FADER, Stereogum, Passion of the Weiss, Mixmag, Homegrown, and Vinyl Me, Please. Over the past year he has headlined clubs and performed at festivals across the world from Chicago and New York to London and India, and was personally invited to soundtrack back to back Paris Fashion Week shows for the similarly norm-shifting designer Kartik Research. This album is a glimpse into the creative outpouring from Todd in September and October of 2025. He returned to the Purple Building in East Nashville to perfect what he called “the sound of country music 10 years from now”. This meant taking his favorite country music tropes, dismantling and reassembling them over stretched-out, swampy grooves with New Orleans-style horns. He was so sure of this sound, feel, and his studio band's pliability that he insisted on recording his vocal and guitar first, with no accompaniment or click track. Todd wanted the band to record after him, so they would HAVE to follow his lead wherever it went. In his mind, he was attempting to write and record a double album. His excitement over the recordings and the push to capture that much material meant that by mid-October, Todd had recorded his vocal, guitar and the band's rhythm section for at least an album’s worth of material, with plans to continue recording. Sadly, Todd passed away before the remaining overdubs and additional songs could be completed. Fortunately all the notes, directions and encouragement he left behind in the form of emails, voice memos and demos provided an extensive roadmap for his band. Following that roadmap as closely as possible, his band was able to complete Todd's last work, My Second Rodeo, Part 1.

Creating an international name for itself over the past decade as a sample pack label, Samples From Mars made its inevitable venture into the music world originally as a home for founder Teddy Stuart’s work. Long before making samples, Stuart garnered credits working as a grammy-nominated recording engineer in the hip hop world, and DJing / producing with Justin Strauss as A/JUS/TED, for labels such as DFA, Domino Records and Southern Fried Records. Now the label is set to release a variety of genres - house, disco, techno, ambient, all with a vintage tinge and a focus on high quality, analog production.

Enter Salt Queen. Visual artist and musician Magali van Caloen together with Samples From Mars founder, Teddy Stuart. Based in New York, the duo combine hardware dance aesthetics with dry, salty takes on familiar club moments into music that sits somewhere between funny, raw and unpredictable.

Salt Queen’s debut ‘ARE U OK’ is an acid-laced, deadpan spoken word track with an opening line that snaps any room to attention. A disorienting club encounter unfolds over Italo-inflected 808s and a relentless 303 bassline. There are no chords and no melodies - just a skeletal groove and an intimate voice circling the dancefloor. Drifting between concern and provocation, the vocal runs through cliché club conversations before destabilizing completely into a siren-laden crash out. The ‘Freak Nasty Club Mix’ ditches the plot and lets the hardware breathe, with a thick SH-101 bassline anchoring the first half before a sudden switch into an unrelenting acid pattern that refuses to settle. Zaatar unveils a collection of new anthems that reflect her distinctive sound, standing between club music and live performance energy. With First Crush, Zaatar develops a musical language of her own, where her North African roots meet the rawest forms of electronic music. Percussions borrow from rock’s intensity, while dissonant synths crackle like guitar riffs, all driven by the power of deep bass frequencies.

Not many weeks go by without Patrick Sullivan aka P-Sol aka the New York City-based edit king dropping another tidy 7". He collides more classics from the r&b and hip-hop golden eras here, starting with 'Heard It All Before', which keeps the original, soulful and empowering vocal and reworks it into a slow, dubby, gentle broken bump. On the flip, 'Undone Wreck' is a classic early rap joint here reworked as a funky, jazzy fusion sound with smooth rolling bass and lush brass. The bars are storytelling and the effect is utterly seductive.

Melbourne producer Jordan Brando releases his new Fixation EP today via DJ Tennis’ Life and Death. The four-track project marks Brando’s debut on the label and arrives as he continues to establish himself as one of Australia’s top new club exports.

Fixation is built around raw, bass-driven grooves, moving between the shuffling percussion and hypnotic vocal hook of the title track, the tougher techno edge of “Vibration,” and the classic house influence running through “The Bassline.” “After Dub” eases the pace without losing that foundation, closing the EP on a warm, melodic note.

The release extends a growing connection between Life and Death and the current wave of Australian producers making an impact worldwide. It follows recent projects from Brando’s Not Without Friends collaborators Luke Alessi and William Kiss, who both joined the label at the end of 2025. Together, the three have built momentum around a shared strain of forward-thinking club music and recently reunited in New York City for a Raw Cuts event this summer.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Brando has developed a reputation for the breadth of his productions and DJ sets, with his original music and remixes appearing across dance charts around the world. While his solo work has earned support from international tastemakers such as Pete Tong (via his BBC Radio 1 show), he’s performed with Kiss and Alessi at Heide Museum of Modern Art, Beyond the Valley, London’s Night Tales and Rippon Lea Estate.

After a run of performances spanning Australia, New Zealand and Europe—including Lost Village, Beyond the Valley, Night Tales and Melbourne’s Collingwood Town Hall—Fixation finds Brando entering his next chapter with one of electronic music’s most respected labels, further cementing his place among a generation of Australian artists reshaping the international club landscape.
