Modern Hypnosis is proud to introduce Babaka, the new alias of esteemed German producer Jörg Müller.

Reigniting his passion for physical, visceral sound system music, Jörg uses classic analog gear and a few self-built instruments to create a unique, potent dub sound. While reminiscent of Jörg’s earlier ambient and dub techno styles on his 2019 album Drawn From Memory and 2022’s Groundworks LP on The Moth Club, his new direction has evolved those techniques and primed them for sound system use. His debut release as Babaka showcases four masterful tracks that differ widely from one another while remaining within his new realm.

The opening track, "Exterminating Angel," is a pulsating, supernatural dub experiment featuring a deeply infectious bassline, ghostly key stabs, tight percussive delays and an oddly dramatic vocal sample creating a profound sonic climax before tapering off, allowing you to escape its vacuum and recalibrate. The most skank'n track of the EP, "A Bug in the dark" with its murky half-time swagger feel, bouncy hats, dub saturation and mega sub-driven riff has become an all-time favourite at Modern Hypnosis HQ.

Featuring precise production with decorative atmospherics and swung drums, "Woodsman Blues" has an almost Boxcutter feel to its intro before plunging off the deep end, hitting the dub floorboards, and revealing its true self as a reincarnated, stoned dubstep track. Closing out the release is "Hysteria," a perfectly executed, dark, chugging techno steppa that remains a popular track for many early-access DJs and selectors around the globe.

In the words of Jörg Müller himself:

After my first Album "Heavy Heart”, I tried to push my music more into abstract territory, especially sound-wise, ignoring mixing and mastering rules... this culminated in the eerie, roomy, off-atmosphere on "ground works" on The Moth Club.

After that, my focus shifted further towards freeform electro-acoustic ambient music. I built a couple of instruments myself and released two albums on Shimmering Mood as Kaleidophon. This was during the pandemic as nightlife came to a stop.

In 2023 and 2024, I started to go to dances again. I saw The Bug on his Pressure System, Al Wootton at Meaksuma Festival, Channel One and Iration Steppas on Young Veteran Hifi Soundsystem. Especially impressive were Mark Ernestus, Mark Ainley and Aba Shanti on the infamous sound system at Open Ground in Wuppertal.

This reignited my passion for dub/sound system music; I wanted to make tracks with the physical, visceral quality of sound systems.

Ronen Sabo aka Nenor has dropped his rough and ready blends of soul and house on labels such as Moodymann's Mahogani and UK powerhouse Defected. Having already found his way into top-level record bags with the first volume of this series on Fossils, he is now back on new label Mumtak with more fully re-imagined interpretations. 'Klock It' is a humid and steamy house sound with a throbbing low end and exotic vocals, while 'Clayers' rides on lovely claps with breezy vocal sounds, ensuring a smooth cruising vibe. 'To Be Free' is a jazzy laced and late night sound with dusty drums and scruffy samples adding up to something loveably rough around the edges and 'El Gato' then brings a more freewheeling sound with big percussive hints and darker bass.

A tasty slice of early 90s New Jersey hip-hop makes this inaugural release from Concrete Flowers a real doozy. Apache's 'Gangsta Bitch' was produced by Q-Tip and taken from his 1993 debut Apache Ain't Shit, so it is a portal back to the raw, unfiltered energy of a time when the Flavour Unit collective was at its most vital. Apache had already appeared alongside Naughty By Nature, Queen Latifah and 2Pac before this record landed and the Q-Tip production connection to A Tribe Called Quest gives it a lineage that still hits hard. The Beatnuts' 'Hit Me With That' on the flip doubles down on the era's boozy, sample-heavy swagger, making this a perfectly paired two-sider that reminds you exactly why the golden era was so golden.

Part celebration, part reflection, THE TIME OF OUR LIVES arrives as both the final release of Lancey’s twenties and the closing chapter of a creative world he has spent the last decade constructing. The most expansive statement of his career to date, moving freely between trap, alternative R&B, dance music, Afro-influenced rhythms and more, Lancey explores triumphant highs and lows of stark vulnerability across the album, interrogating ideas of success, freedom, loneliness and what it truly means to have the time of your life. Lancey Foux stands at the forefront of UK rap’s evolution, blending elements of hip-hop, cloud rap, trap, Jersey club, drill, and more into a sound that’s uniquely his own. Since emerging from Newham, East London in 2015 with a clutch of freestyles and SoundCloud singles, Lancey has occupied a lane entirely of his own making. Released in 2000 on Tommy Boy, the album fi nds Capone and Noreaga leaning into their chemistry: Capone's colder, clipped delivery grounding Nore's wild-eyed charisma and off-kilter bounce. The record features heavyweight production and appearances from names like DJ Premier, The Alchemist, Havoc, L.E.S., Nas, Mobb Deep, Foxy Brown, and Carl Thomas, surrounding CNN with some of New York rap's most recognizable voices and architects. Highlights like "Bang Bang," "Invincible," "Queens Finest," and "Phonetime" keep the album rooted in hard drums, prison- call tension, borough pride, and that unmistakable CNN slang. Commercially, it made a solid showing, reaching No. 31 on the Billboard 200 and No. 8 on Top R&B/ Hip- Hop Albums, with "Phonetime" hitting No. 22 on Hot Rap Songs. The Reunion stands as a hard-nosed second chapter for CNN: a tough, guest-heavy, post- millennium Queens record that captures Capone and Noreaga reconnecting without sanding off the grime. Cruise Music continues to serve up irresistible nuggets with its Vinyl Jams series, now reaching volume 15. Once again, it is a various artists affair that blends high production value with the right amount of emotional depth and dance floor kicks, this time looking at the warmer side of house. Keller's 'Stressed Out' is clean vocal house with a catchy wiggle and soulful bass roll, Mirko & Meex that layer a soaring diva vocal into 'There's A Light' that could well become an instant classic. Pianos rule on Oliver Knight & Angelala's 'Your Sunshine,' which is a perfect outdoor cruiser for the hotter days and Dino DZ closes down with the well-sampled 'I Like It.' These are refined, accessible summer house sounds but done with a touch of class.

Standards & Practices like to take musical risks and adventure into uncharted techno waters with their compilations and this latest one, split across three EPs, is a testament to that. Out Of Practice Vol 2 (part two) opens with moody, sub-aquatic dub from Izzy Vines that is alive with the clanking of distant shipping lanes and vast propellers. Matthew Patterson Curry's 'Not Weird At All' is glitch-step and hyper futuristic, then Jeff Pietro melts your mind with the syncopated loops of 'Mass Hex' (version), which has an eerie celestial glow. Brendon Moeller does what Brendon Moeller does best to close - fathom-deep dub class.

Smoove delivers another pair of exceptional reworks, breathing fresh life into two disco classics from 1978 and 1979. Staying true to the spirit of the original recordings while adding his signature production touch, both tracks feel timeless yet perfectly suited for today’s dancefloors.

On the A-side, Was That All It Was opens with crisp, punchy drums before gradually unfolding into a masterclass in arrangement. Layer by layer, Smoove rebuilds the track, allowing Jean Carne’s stunning vocal performance to shine through lush string breakdowns, soaring brass, and an irresistible groove.

The flip features Runaway Love, taking a slightly deeper, slower approach. Euphoric backing vocals, warm Fender Rhodes, sweeping strings, and impeccably tight percussion combine to create an uplifting, soulful journey. An elegant and utterly joyful rework from start to finish.

FIRST TIME ON VINYL! “Instalação Do Samba”, originally released in 2004, has become one of the defining albums in the history of Schema Records. With producer Stefano “S-Tone Inc.” Tirone, Toco created an album that embraced the essence of samba and bossa nova while allowing them to breathe naturally within a contemporary musical landscape, blending Jazz, soul, understated electronics and sophisticated arrangements. Released only on CD at the time, “Instalação Do Samba” is finally given the analogue home it always deserved. This first-ever vinyl edition also includes “Qui C’Est Celui-Là”, previously included in the French CD edition. Over the years, Toco has become the most streamed artist in the entire Schema catalogue, introducing his music to audiences beyond the traditional boundaries of Brazilian jazz and contemporary bossa nova. His songs continue to resonate with listeners around the world, proving that authenticity never goes out of style.

'Everyone' was Recorded in Tokyo, Japan over two days in late September 2025. The album musically chronicles Greg Foat's first tour of Japan. The album was commisioned by Tokyo based clothing Label 'Everyone' and is a fantastic mix of Ambient, Jazz and Electronic music genres

Each track celebrates a special memory of the tour, from the opener 'Shirahama Beach' home to the wonderful FFKT festival to the playful 'Lake Haruna Boat Ride'.

The album also features Tokyo based jazz musicians Kensuke Miyaki on Baritone Saxophone and Bass Clarinet and Yoshihiro Kaneko on Double Bass. Limited to 700 vinyl copies only with obi strip.

The Saint Wax label branches out with a new series of edits from founder Eduardo Barbi aka Gledd, who traverses funk, disco and soul across five irresistible cuts. 'Street Preacher' has a spoken word that reminds of early rap days paired with a rousing choral backing, then 'Stevie's Word' turns up the funk with a chunky bassline. 'Do It For Me' is another gospel-fuelled pumper with big stabs ramping up the intensity and then 'Under The Moonlight' is a classy disco stomper lead by florid and chunky funk in the drums. 'Your Love' is an excitable finish with big horns, bigger chords and even bigger vocals. It's big, basically.

Numa Crew are back with a full release at 140 bpm. A journey through the crew’s diverse range of styles, each with its own unmistakable character. It kicks off with ‘Philly Blunt’, a track conceived and created for the dancefloor, pure dubstep, with a wobble bass that cuts through a driving groove and carries with it many nuances of dub. Track number two, ‘Big Champion’, is produced by Lapo with contributions from the crew’s two MCs, XL Mad and Ninjaz MC. The riddim blends old-school jungle and grime and features vocals in both Jamaican patois and Italian. There are no boundaries of any kind within Numa Crew! Nor are there any boundaries to be seen on track 3, ‘Easton Riddim’, produced by Lapo and Ago, which seamlessly blends two styles very dear to the crew: UKG and reggae. It will be the perfect platform for many MCs to showcase their skills. To round things off, undoubtedly the craziest track on the EP, ‘Run Tune’ – produced by Ago and Leon P. A frenzied arpeggiator and dark atmospheres take us on a journey through sub-lines and distorted vocals.

From the first track Rudimentary Peni pull you in and aurally assault your ears. It’s abrasive, sharp with supreme musicianship. They created a perfect, demented universe of twisted, poetic and needle in the red punk that has never been bettered. The wonderful Scruniversal takes a sidestep into electro here with a remix of a tune by Liza Gromova, a talented musician and rising star in the pop and indie world who hails from Moscow. Lipelis reframes her 'Papa, Poputny Veter' with 80s synth shimmers, glassy melodies and minimal electronics that maintain the emotional vocal of the original and manage to marry its optimism with a bittersweet edge. The flipside instrumental is another intimate sound but with an irresistible groove that will appeal to wave and Italo fans. Two ageless cuts that are subtly hooky.

Die 12 Songs des neuen Giant Rooks Albums „IF HEAVEN EXISTS, THIS MIGHT BE IT“ erzählen von
Liebe, Verlust, Einsamkeit und der Suche nach echter Verbindung.
Der Titel ist dabei weniger Versprechen als Perspektivwechsel: Was, wenn das, wonach wir suchen, nicht
irgendwo vor uns liegt, sondern längst da ist? In den Menschen um uns herum. In den kleinen Momenten.
In dem, was uns verbindet.
Ein Album über das Gefühl, in einer lauten Welt nach Nähe zu suchen. Und über die Möglichkeit, dass
das Hier und Jetzt schon mehr enthält, als wir manchmal sehen.
Mit ihrem charakteristischen Indie-Pop-Sound, der längst international etabliert ist,
bespielen und besingen Giant Rooks das Himmlische im Irdischen.

„Once Upon A Time“ ist ein Schlüsseldokument des britischen Modern Jazz um 1970. Alan Skidmore
stellte das Quintett für das Montreux Jazz Festival 1969 zusammen, wo es gleich drei Preise gewann –
darunter als beste Gruppe und Skidmore als bester Solist. Der Erfolg führte zur Zusammenarbeit mit
Deram-Produzent Peter Eden. Mit Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Harry Miller und Tony Oxley vereinte
Skidmore einige der später wichtigsten Stimmen des europäischen Jazz. Das 1969 aufgenommene und
1970 auf Deram Nova (SDN 11) erschienene Album verbindet Skidmores Coltrane-geprägtes Tenorspiel
mit Modal Jazz und freien Formen.

“High Spirits” zeigt eine ungewöhnliche, nicht minder faszinierende Seite des jamaikanisch-britischen Altsaxophonisten Joe Harriott, eines der großen Originale des britischen Jazz. Nach seinen bahnbrechenden
Free-Form-Experimenten widmete sich Harriott hier acht Songs aus dem gleichnamigen Musical von Hugh
Martin und Timothy Gray. Mit Shake Keane an Trompete und Flügelhorn, Coleridge Goode am Bass
und Bobby Orr am Schlagzeug ist Harriotts klassisches Quintett in Bestform zu hören. Aufgenommen
im September 1964 und 1965 als Teil der von Denis Preston betreuten Lansdowne Series veröffentlicht,
verbindet das Album melodische Zugänglichkeit mit souveränem Post-Bop und brillanten Improvisationen.

Vor 30 Jahren, im Jahr 1996, kamen Paul, Gene, Ace und Peter wieder zusammen – um diesen bedeutsamen
Anlass zu feiern, wurden Auszüge aus „Alive!“ und „Alive II“ zusammengestellt und unter dem Titel
„You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best“ veröffentlicht. Diese Sammlung, die nun erstmals aus dem
KISSTERIA-Vinyl-Boxset herausgelöst wurde, erscheint auf 180-Gramm-Schwarzvinyl in einer erstmals
erhältlichen Gatefold-Hülle mit erweiterten Fotos.

Das Originalalbum sowie eine Bonus-LP mit B-Seiten, Demos und seltenen Aufnahmen, von denen einige

Ąnis is a Lithuanian producer and DJ working in the space between broken rhythms and atmospheric weight. His tracks blur the line between club tools and introspective pieces - raw, textured, and unpolished in the best way.

Ąnis’ debut album “I Swear I’m Not Delusional” builds from late-night sketches into fully formed pressure systems. Ambient passages fall into break-driven grooves, each track shifting like a mood swing. It's rooted in tension, repetition, and space - think the grit and movement of early Skee Mask filtered through a more personal, less polished lens. Tracks like “Mountain People” carry warmth without needing to explain themselves, while others feel like they were made at 3am with no lights on. It’s not chasing a scene - just locked into its own pulse. This isn’t background music. It asks you to sit with it - or move to it. Either way, it sticks.

Discotchari unveils a full deadstock run of this rare 7 inch from 1970, found in original factory boxes and reissued as the first release of the label. It features previously unheard material from oud virtuoso John Bilezikjian and percussionist Raja Zahr, a Burbank via Beirut collaboration. The record will be available on vinyl and digital platforms from November 3rd, 2023.



Recorded under the name Something Different, the duo produced a single 45 RPM that was shelved as their solo careers took off. At just 21, Bilezikjian handles oud, bass and harpsichord, while Zahr delivers rich and inventive percussion.



Side A, Zulu Man, blends late 60s psychedelia with a more experimental edge, closer to underground acts than mainstream rock of the era. Carried by evocative vocals and expressive oud lines, the track unfolds like an epic narrative.



Side B, Chemical Reaction, is harder to define, moving between cinematic moods and rhythmic tension. The track evokes shifting landscapes and contrasting atmospheres, making it as intriguing as it is unpredictable on a dancefloor.

Keroxen presents Spandauer Damm 103, a new album by Dancelwerk.
Bringing together modular systems, worn drum machines and digital synthesis, the record nods directly to the first decade of Warp Records and the early logic of bleep culture.
Dancelwerk is a Tenerife-based electronic pioneer and one of the foundational figures of the Canary Islands underground. Active for over 30 years, Spandauer Damm 103 marks both a personal milestone and a renewed point of focus, reaffirming his role in shaping the region’s electronic lineage. The album draws on 1990s electronic futurism, filtering those references through a contemporary production approach rather than nostalgia.
The music moves between places and periods: from the early rave circuits of southern Tenerife, where Dancelwerk built his reputation through DIY releases and warehouse-level experimentation, to his later relocation to Berlin, famously arriving with a shipping container of vintage synthesizers and modular equipment.
Balancing melody and impact, Spandauer Damm 103 sets custom-programmed percussion against detailed sound design. FM, spectral and wavetable synthesis shape its harmonic and textural focus, resulting in music that remains physical without sacrificing clarity.
