Dr Sure's Blue & Bubble tapes compiled and pressed on vinyl for the first time.
Another fruitful collaboration between Swish Swash Records (France) & Marthouse Records (Aus) who bought us the unholy 'Scomo Goes To Hawaii/While Aus Burns' combination.
Dr Sure's in-between-albums tapes offer an intimate look at artist in perpetual purgatory; music as constant; comfort and catharsis; to protest or profess.
Repressed for the first time since its original 2014 release, ‘A Los Campesinos! Christmas’ has been freshly remastered for the 2025 festive season and will be available on CD and a record store exclusive Evergreen colourway vinyl. The project brings together a stellar cast of musicians. Guitarist and producer Matthis Pascaud who crafts a rich and colourful sonic landscape, along with acclaimed drummer Raphael Chassin, pianist Thibault Gomez, and bassist Simon Tailleu. The record shines further with the participation of special guests: iconic guitarist Bill Frisell and the legendary saxophonist Archie Shepp, whose contributions underscore both the intimacy and the grandeur of Rampal's homage. Through inventive arrangements and deep poetic sensibility, 'Song For Abbey' revisits key pieces from Abbey Lincoln's repertoire, including a luminous, modern rendition of ' And It's Supposed To Be Love' .
Marion Rampal's voice, instantly recognisable and deeply evocative, breathes new life into Lincoln's world, blending tradition and innovation across jazz, blues, and folk influences. With high-profile guest artists, Bill Frisell and Archie Shepp, who elevate the album's international visibility and media value, 'Song For Abbey' is not just an album, but a resonant contemporary statement - a vibrant crossroads of jazz legacy, emotion, and artistry. "One of the most beautiful voices of her generation brings new life to the legacy of the sublime singer and songwriter Abbey Lincoln - chills guaranteed." - Jazz Magazine
With simpatico support from double bassist Drew Gress and drummer Tom Rainey, Hersch presented fresh interpretations of tunes by his favourite jazz composers, which included Miles Davis ('Milestones'), Wayne Shorter ('Iris'), Thelonious Monk ('Played Twice'), Dizzy Gillespie ('Con Alma'), and Herbie Hancock (Speak Like A Child). The album also includes an original number, 'Evanessence,' which Hersch composed as a salute to pianist Bill Evans. The Fred Hersch Trio Plays is a remarkable collection of performances affirming that jazz is about exploration, constant reinvention, and selfless teamwork.

Collaborating with prominent names from both the national and international music scenes, 'Plural' showcases Grossi's music without borders, offering the world a glimpse of his extensive career. For this celebration, outstanding guests were invited to join the musical journey. Several tracks also highlight Grossi's sensitivity as a songwriter and lyricist. 'Chamego no Salao' captures the spirit of north-eastern Brazil and is brought to life by Lenine's vibrant voice and joyful interpretation, adding a playful tone with a jazzy touch. The art of improvisation is beautifully represented by 'Catarina e Teresa', an improvised composition created in collaboration with the legendary Hermeto Pascoal and dedicated to Grossi's twin daughters. Other tracks include 'Banzo', which showcases a rhythmic dialogue featuring Cuban pianist Omar Sosa. 'Motion', with the brilliance of both Jacob Collier and Seamus Blake, merges jazz and pop in a seamless melodic conversation.
With an open mind and without boundaries, he invites us to explore a vast musical universe, embracing art with profound emotion and passion. This is what you will hear and experience in 'Plural': a deep love for the art of sound and a profound respect for musical diversity - qualities that have defined his career.
He cast off his old skin, fundamentally altering his studies, homeland, and life, thereby charting a new future. Recorded at Sound on Sound Studios in Montclair, New Jersey, in January, 2024, 'Ancestral' was influenced, in part, by O'Gallagher's PhD studies into the music of John Coltrane, and reunites the versatile reeds player with guitarist Ben Monder while, notably, features the first-ever recorded collaboration between master drummers Andrew Cyrille and Billy Hart. "Basically, my PhD (available on O'Gallagher's website) is an analysis where I transcribed all of Trane's solos, spelling out what he does on his late recordings 'Interstellar Space' and 'Stellar Regions'. And it shows that free music is not free, not the way people think it is.
Trane was definitely thinking about organization in those records. This research definitely gave me ideas about how to be freer within the systems that I had developed, and how to perceive them in a more organic way." O'Gallagher's latest recording marks a significant artistic evolution, following a period of considerable personal change. After leaving Brooklyn, New York, he and his wife relocated to the UK before ultimately settling in Lisbon, Portugal. This journey, coupled with dedicated study, profoundly shaped his new music. O'Gallagher, Monder, Cyrille, Hart, and Coltrane: a potent brew. In an album consisting largely of first takes, O'Gallagher's compositions vary from through- composed pieces to skeletal charts to full- blown group compositions/ improvisations.
Recorded amidst the Vietnam War's turmoil and the tragic Kent State shootings of 1970, Alarm Clock was Havens' urgent wake- up call to a generation - a powerful warning against an overreaching government. This reissue includes two never- before- released tracks: ' Nobody Knows', recorded during the same sessions, and a deeply moving rendition of Graham Nash's 'Military Madness'. A testament to Havens' artistic integrity and commitment to social justice, Alarm Clock remains a timeless masterpiece. "Alarm Clock was just as the title suggested: a warning. It was also one of the few times I have used a song's title to name one of my albums.
Alarm Clock was being made in the context of the Vietnam War that was still raging. Four students protesting the war had been shot dead in May 1970 on the Kent State University campus in Ohio. Large crowds were gathering in many cities, pleading for the end to America's involvement, but the administration did not care about anything the public seemed to feel. The war would go on, regardless of public sentiment. We were seeing our government step way over bounds. Alarm Clock felt like a warning to awaken." - Richie Havens
Live music needs to offer you something that you cannot get on a studio recording. It's the sense of freedom and intimacy, wondering how the songs will be played and what the reaction will be. Live concerts give you the tingle where the hair stands up on the back of your neck. "Live audiences give you the tension and responsibility to be creative, for me that's the challenge I like," says the iconic Dutch guitarist. After all of these years, you ponder what keeps Jan going out there, night after night. "It's my love to play for people all around the world," he smiles. The supremely gifted guitarist is equaled by very few, and his legendary ability makes him impossible to pigeonhole. His position as Dutch royalty has been cemented; he received the Golden Harp Award in early 2005, Holland's most prestigious music prize, and in 2012, he was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau. This royal honour recognized his contributions to Dutch music and his influence on musicians worldwide.
Available for the first time in general retail, this 12" combines V**gra Boys explosive debut EP "Consistency Of Energy" (2016) with the enigmatic "Call Of The Wild" EP
Following his bold 1983 solo debut 'Walk Into Light', Ian Anderson - the legendary flautist, songwriter & frontman of Jethro Tull - returned in 1995 with 'Divinities: Twelve Dances With God', a richly textured & wholly instrumental work that showcased a different side of his musical imagination. A sweeping, genre- defying suite in twelve parts, 'Divinities' draws deeply on Anderson's lifelong love of classical music, world traditions & pastoral folk. Conceived as a continuous orchestral journey, the album weaves influences from Celtic airs & Middle Eastern motifs to Indian ragas & Baroque counterpoint, all anchored by Anderson's unmistakable flute.
The result is one of his most ambitious & evocative projects - a spiritual, cinematic exploration of faith, nature & the divine. Now 'Divinities: Twelve Dances With God' returns to vinyl in a stunning half- speed remastered edition, expertly mastered by Grammy-winning engineer John Webber at London's AIR Studios using audio sourced from the original tapes. Pressed on black vinyl & housed in a faithful reproduction of the original artwork, this new edition stands as the most detailed & dynamic presentation of the album to date. Originally premiered live in its entirety with orchestral accompaniment before its release, 'Divinities' remains a singular work within Anderson's catalogue - a testament to his restless creativity & compositional range beyond the bounds of progressive rock.
Debut solo album from DC polymath Jack Abok. When not making zines and visual art, singing for Des Demonas' or drumming AND singing for SEXFACES, Abok's busied himself by bringing this, his most personal and ferousious vision, to (immortal) life with VAMPYRES FROM AFRICA. 11 tracks of electro punk, melding Abok's massive love for the delta blues, post punk, Krautrock and hip hop. Or, in his own words: VAMPYRES FROM AFRICA MANIFESTО: 1. Ideas > skill 2. Don't be a musician 3. Cool > smart 4. It's not about money or being liked, it's about expressing ourselves. 5. Bands should have an expiration date 6. Fuck originality! 7. Don't stop creating And Syd's Angelika Piper at the Gates of Dawn: "All movements is accomplished in six stages And the seventh brings return The seven is the number of the young light It forms when darkness is increased by one Changel return / success Going and coming without error Action brings good fortune Sunset"
Kurt Vile once sang that he had a freeway in mind, but Matt Kivel (Vile’s former Woodsist labelmate) literally has a freeway mind. Kivel grew up in Santa Monica, California, getting shuttled up and down the 10, the 101, PCH, and all the other freeways Angelenos lovingly affix definite articles to. He started out in music as part of the buzzy, Eagle Rock-based indie band Princeton, toured the country relentlessly, burned out, and then resurfaced with a series of bleak, hauntingly spare solo albums that garnered widespread critical acclaim.
Over the ensuing decade, Kivel collaborated closely with a growing set of brilliant, and varied musicians from across the globe, including Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Alasdair Roberts, Madi Diaz, Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes, Jana Horn, and Satomimagae. He moved to Austin, Texas then left for New York City for a spell and then returned to Austin where he settled down. In 2017, he started writing the songs for what would become his eighth solo album, Escape From L.A. Escape From L.A. is an autobiographical song cycle that chronicles the first thirty-three years of Kivel’s life in the City of Angels. The material was labored over, rewritten, rearranged, and rerecorded numerous times, between LA, New York, and Austin. Kivel self-effacingly refers to it as his “bootleg as hell Blood On The Tracks” with myriad alternate sequences, tempos and arrangements that will never see the light of day. It involved over twenty collaborators, a string section, pedal steel guitars, and a renewed lyrical and vocal clarity that allows the narrative vignettes to unspool in vivid detail. It’s a beautiful, grounded statement and one of Kivel’s best.
The post-punk-ish Leipzig garage rockers Onyon put out their last album, 2023’s Last Days On Earth, on Chicago’s revered Trouble In Mind label. Now that Trouble In Mind has ceased operations, they’ll release their forthcoming Pale Horses through the Swish Swash and Mangel labels.
In CURSED Plattenbau descends into darker waters, where doom, hardcore, and dungeon synth intertwine, cut with the blade of their signature sound. The record explores the creeping return to feudalism - where rival warlords devastate populations and ecosystems for personal gain, leaving powerless serfs to pick through the wreckage. And yet, despite the dread, CURSED refuses despair. It is not a funeral march but an invitation: rage becomes ritual, noise becomes release, dance becomes defiance.

“Stornoway’s best work yet: big music, which deserves the largest stage.”★★★★★ – The Guardian
Lauded on release as Stornoway’s most expansive and confident work, Bonxie remains a hymn to connection, ecology, and the beauty of life. This expanded edition includes previously unreleased B-side tracks from the original recording sessions, new liner notes from each member of the band, and some of their well-known unplucked versions of tracks on the album.
Bonxie is Stornoway’s boldest and most outward-looking record, an album infused with a sense of wonder for the natural world and humanity’s place within it. Produced by Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters, Twin Atlantic), and a contribution from Craig Potter (Elbow), the songs carry field recordings of birds (20 species appear across the album), weaving them into melodies that soar like the great skua (or “bonxie”) that gives the record its name.
Stornoway will be playing a very special show at the Royal Albert Hall on 30th March 2026.
