This antiquated tool was brought back to life via emulation technology, creating a universe that both musically and visually symbolizes the seven chakras and realigns the human body with it's ideal golden ratio.

Northern California psychedelic sorcerers Carlton Melton are brain surfers, mind trippers, … “psychlists,” if you prefer. The band will take your head for a ride, occasionally rushing at superluminal speeds through a wormhole or gliding softly on a gentle breeze in a leafy glade. Sometimes your brain needs to rage, and sometimes it needs to repose. For a decade and a half, the band has yo-yo’ed, almost schizophrenically, between these two modes: walloping space jams with furious guitar solos in one hemisphere of the brain and ethereal, feather-light splashdowns in the other. Not to mention a track here and there that builds from the latter into the former. But with two new releases in 2023, the band has evolved. Whether psych rock or ambient trance, their sound remains driving, organic, and flowing. With the addition of Anthony Taibi (White Manna, DDT), however, the group’s metal freak-outs are Hawkwindier and their droning kraut trances are Spacemen 3-er. In January, the quartet released the playfully spacey Resemble Ensemble, recorded in Taibi’s home studio 3D Light. October now sees the band Turn To Earth, a work with scents of Autumn, a season of death and transition. The cover art evokes a vine-covered, electric crucifix. The sound is, well, earthy but also gritty and striving towards change. The album was recorded in Fall 2022 and now harvested in Fall 2023. Phil Becker (Terry Gross, Pins Of Light) contributed drums and percussion to a few tracks on Turn To Earth, recording the album at El Studio in San Francisco.

With Becker at the helm, the synths have become more prominent (“Cosmicity,” “Roboflow,” “Migration”) and the tone heavier on the doom (“Cloudstorming,” “Unlock The Land,” title track): several moments could even serve as background music for epic dark fantasy films like Conan the Barbarian, Fire and Ice, or Heavy Metal. As exquisite as Turn To Earth is, Melton are best appreciated as a live act: their recordings as well as their gigs are largely improvised – not so much composed as birthed. And yet their most recent tour ended abruptly and perilously. The group had to cancel its final three shows once members were admitted to Arnhem hospital in the Netherlands. Five years later, reinforcements have strengthened the band and restocked its arsenal of great tracks. After the rockus interruptus of that 2018 tour and the tantric tease of the intervening Covid lockdown, Melton have some unfinished business. An October 2023 tour is poised to set the freshly minted quartet back onto the stages of Europe and within the cerebral folds of its fans. Turn To Earth, sure … but keep your head in outer space. Diles Que No Me Maten sind eine fünfköpfige Band aus Mexiko-Stadt, deren vom Krautrock beeinflusster Art-Rock sich zu etwas wirklich Einzigartigem entwickelt hat - drahtig, poetisch und voller Improvisationslust. Ihr viertes Album ,Escrito en Agua" (Geschrieben im Wasser), ist ihr bisher fokussiertestes und zugänglichstes Werk, aufgenommen in einem provisorischen Studio in Santa María La Ribera mit Produzent Sebastián Rojas. Aufgebaut um zurückhaltendes Schlagzeugspiel, bewusste Pausen und die spirituelle Schwere der Begräbnismusik aus Oaxaca, bewegt sich das Album mit einer gemächlichen Selbstsicherheit, die sich hart erkämpft anfühlt. Thematisch ist ,Escrito en Agua" ein Album über Präsenz, Umherirren und Widerstandskraft - Songs, die mit Mehrdeutigkeit leben, anstatt sie aufzulösen. Die Lead-Single ,Hiriku" gibt den Ton an und verbindet frenetischen Krautrock mit Zeilen aus José Vicente Anayas visionärem Gedicht ,Híkuri", während der herausragende Track ,No me" ein Mantra der Selbstsicherheit in etwas weitaus emotional Komplexeres verwandelt. Gewidmet sowohl dem indigenen Morgenstern Tunuwame als auch dem palästinensischen Dichter Mahmoud Darwish, endet das Album so, wie es beginnt: still und transzendent, mit achtsamer Aufmerksamkeit für die kleinsten Details dessen, was es bedeutet, lebendig zu sein.

Mit "Sowiesoso" schufen Hans-Joachim Roedelius und Dieter Moebius (Cluster) 1976 eines der klarsten und zugleich visionärsten Werke der europäischen Elektronikmusik. Nach dem viel beachteten Zuckerzeit öffnet sich das Duo hier einer reduzierten, transparenten Klangsprache: sanft kreisende Sequenzen, subtile Rhythmen und melodische Fragmente entfalten eine stille, konzentrierte Schönheit. Aufgenommen im eigenen Studio mit bewusst minimalem Equipment, lebt Sowiesoso von Autonomie und Präzision. Wiederholung und Variation stehen in feinem Gleichgewicht, fern von Effekthascherei oder technischer Selbstinszenierung. Die Musik wirkt utopisch, aber geerdet - geprägt von der Landschaft Norddeutschlands ebenso wie von Clusters konsequenter Suche nach einer neuen musikalischen Sprache. Zum 50. To mark its 20th birthday, Lisbon-born label Enchufada is releasing A Lisbon Club Story - 20 hand-picked tracks bridging bass, trap, grime and rave with baile funk, kuduro, batida, Afro-house and more dance-oriented styles. A mix of 12 archive selections and eight fresh cuts, the LP unites some of the boldest champions of Afro-diasporic and global bass music today, from household names in Portugal such as Buraka Som Sistema - back with their first track in 12 years, DJ Marfox and Shaka Lion to newgen dynamos like Vanyfox and international stars like Dengue Dengue Dengue and Mina.

Das Indie-Pop-Quartett Veps aus Oslo ist zurück mit seinem dritten Album ,ChurchyardStreet 8B", dem ersten beim schwedischen Indie-Label PNKSLM Recordings (ShitKid, Clutter, Vegas Water Taxi etc.). Die Band hat sich als eine der interessantesten Indie-Bands Nordeuropas etabliert. Helena, Laura, June und Maja kennen sich schon seit der Grundschule und gründeten die Band im Alter von 14 Jahren. Ihre brillante Debüt-EP ,Open The Door" (veröffentlicht 2021 bei Kanine Records) ebnete den Weg für ihr ebenso großartiges Debütalbum ,Oslo Park" und den Nachfolger ,Dedicated To". Mit gerade einmal 22 Jahren auf diesem Planeten stehen Veps erst am Anfang ihrer Karriere, haben aber schon eine Fülle von Erfahrungen gesammelt, während sie weitermachen, mit ihrem neuen Album "ChurchyardStreet 8B", ihrem bisher besten Werk.

Mit Nothing veröffentlicht Bureau B 2026 eine neu gemasterte Jubiläumsausgabe des 2001 erschienenen Albums von A Certain Frank - dem gemeinsamen Projekt von Kurt Dahlke (Pyrolator) und Frank Fenstermacher, zwei Schlüsselfiguren der Düsseldorfer Musikgeschichte. Zum 25-jährigen Jubiläum erscheint das Album erstmals auf Vinyl und markiert ein stilles, aber markantes Kapitel der post-krautigen Elektroniktradition der Stadt: reduziert, atmosphärisch und bemerkenswert zeitlos. Entstanden Mitte der 1990er aus dem Umfeld von Ata Tak, steht A Certain Frank für eine bewusste Abkehr von der damals dominierenden Techno-Ästhetik. Statt Club-Funktionalität setzen Dahlke und Fenstermacher auf Zurücknahme, feine Grooves und subtile Rekonstruktion. Bezüge zu Easy Listening und "Exotica" werden nicht nostalgisch zitiert, sondern behutsam in eine zeitgenössische elektronische Sprache überführt. Nothing bildet den Abschluss einer inoffiziellen Trilogie und basiert weitgehend auf live eingespielten Basslinien, Drums und Synthesizern. Stimmen werden als klangliche Texturen eingesetzt, nicht als klassische Leads. Zwischen jazziger Electronica, filmischer Atmosphäre, digitalem Dub und dezenten Lounge-Momenten entfaltet das Album eine unaufdringliche Modernität, die bis heute nachwirkt. Kein Relikt - sondern ein Werk von bleibender Klarheit.
