Likewise, the eight-tune collection was the final effort issued during his brief association with the Riverside Records imprint. The project was undoubtedly spurred on by the overwhelming success of the Shelly Manne-led combo that interpreted titles taken from the score to My Fair Lady (1956). In addition to becoming an instant classic, Manne’s LP was also among of the best-selling jazz platters of all time. While Baker and crew may have gained their inspiration from Manne, these readings are comparatively understated. That said, the timelessness of the melodies, coupled with the assembled backing aggregate, make ‘Chet Baker Plays the best of Lerner and Loewe’ a memorable concept album.

Originally released in 1962, jazz multi-instrumentalist Yusef Lateef’s “Eastern Sounds” fuses hard bop with middle eastern music as he is joined by Barry Harris on piano alongside Ernie Farrow (double bass, rabaab) and Lex Humphries (drums). Here, in the second part of the historic Christmas salsa album Asalto Navideño, Willie Colón and vocalist Héctor Lavoe treat us to more of the special sounds that made Volume 1 of the collection one of the most popular Latin music albums of all time. In Volume 2, the team of bandleader/trombonist Willie Colón and inimitable singer Lavoe joins forces again with premier cuatro player Yomo Toro and legendary percussionists Milton Cardona and José Mangual Jr. to cook up New York salsa versions of typical Christmas songs familiar to Puerto Rican audiences of all ages. This típico sound of traditional country music, called música jíbara, is mixed and blended, salsa-style, with a range of other rhythms, starting with Cuban guaguancó and son montuno and African-American jazz.

There's a Light Beyond These Woods' is Griffith's debut album and was recorded ive to two-track in 1977 and 1978. All but two of the nine songs were penned by Griffith.

Poet In My Window' is Griffith's second album, released in 1982. All but one track are written by Griffith.

Once in a Very Blue Moon', Griffith's third album, was released in 1984 and had more of a country sound than her previous work. This album is different from her previous in the inclusion of more instrumentation; musicians Béla Fleck, Mark O'Connor, Pat Alger, Lloyd Green, and more appear on this record. The title song was covered by Dolly Parton in 1985.

The Last of the True Believers' was released in 1986, and Griffith continues her turn into a more country- oriented sound. It also includes "Love at the Five and Dime" and "Goin' Gone," which were later hits for Kathy Mattea. This album was nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album.

“Stax Christmas” brings together 12 holiday classics from the legendary Stax Records, with favorites by Isaac Hayes (The Mistletoe and Me), The Staple Singers (Who Took the Merry Out of Christmas), Rufus Thomas (I’ll Be Your Santa Baby), Albert King (Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin’) and more. Diese beiden LPs wurden von den Originalbändern von Chris Muth geschnitten und enthalten Auftritte von Isaac Hayes, The
Staple Singers, The Bar-Kays, Rufus Thomas, Carla Thomas, Albert King und anderen.

Wattstax war ein Benefizkonzert, das von Stax Records in Verbindung mit dem Watt Summer Festival organisiert wurde, um den siebten Jahrestag der Watts-Unruhen von 1965 in Los Angeles zu feiern.

Dieses Jahr kommt die 25-jährige Jubiläumsausgabe des zehnten Studioalbums von R.E.M., New Adventures in Hi-Fi. Das 1996 erschienene Album war die letzte Studioaufnahme von R.E.M. mit Gründungsmitglied Bill Berry, der die Band im folgenden Jahr einvernehmlich verließ. Als fünfte Zusammenarbeit der

”Live at The Troubadour” ist ein Live-Album von James Taylor und Carole King, das ursprünglich im

Mal gemeinsam im The Troubadour in West Hollywood, Kalifornien, auf. Sechsunddreißig Jahre später
kehrten James Taylor, Carole King und Mitglieder ihrer berühmten Originalband ”The Section” (mit dem
Gitarristen Danny Kortchmar, dem Bassisten Leland Sklar und dem Schlagzeuger Russell Kunkel) für drei
Nächte und sechs Shows in den Troubadour zurück, um das 50-jährige Jubiläum des Veranstaltungsorts zu
