Cosmic Romance proudly presents "Amour Propre", the new album by Berlin-based multinational band Stella & The Longos and 5 release on the label.

Following the acclaimed 2022 release "Détends-Toi", the first electrifying collaboration between lead singer Stella Zekri and producer Ed Longo, "Amour Propre" crowns two years of relentless touring, growth, and evolution. On the road, the duo forged a powerful live ensemble of Berlin’s finest musicians. That synergy now explodes onto record, expanding Stella & The Longos’ sound into something more organic, daring, and deeply alive.

On "Amour Propre", Stella’s sultry, magnetic voice weaves through lush layers of live drums and percussion, funky guitar riffs, shimmering keyboards, intricate brass lines, and the unmistakable hi-fi production flair of Ed Longo. The rhythms oscillate in a melting pot of musical styles, where Afro-Caribbean influences overlap with vintage boogie beats and quelching synths flirt with smoky Parisian midnight moods. Stella’s voice remains the heart of it all, sensual, husky, and brimming with raw emotion. Her lyrics explore love, longing, and reflection, while also capturing moments of dancefloor euphoria and universal connection.
With The Longos as her powerhouse backing band, every track radiates the energy of a live performance: intimate, enchanting, and unforgettable.

Mainrecords is back with the long awaited "Radiation Dance EP" by co-labelowner Matthias Schildger.

Maya Hawke ist US Musikerin, Songwriterin, Schauspielerin und Produzentin - und nebenbei Tochter von Uma Thurman und Ethan Hawke. Sie hat bisher zwei hochgelobte Musikalben veröffentlicht, "Moss" (2022) und "Blush" (2020), die beide ihre natürliche Begabung für Songwriting und Geschichtenerzählen sowie ihr Händchen für eine eindrucksvolle visuelle Präsentation mit selbst entworfenen Coverdesigns unter Beweis stellen. "Thérèse", die Leadsingle von Moss, erregte mit dem faszinierenden Video unter der Regie von Brady Corbet weltweite Aufmerksamkeit - und zig Millionen Streams - und bescherte Maya einen beeindruckenden TV-Auftritt in der Tonight Show mit Jimmy Fallon. Maya und ihre Band ernteten jede Menge begeisterte Kritiken für ausverkaufte Shows in den USA und der EU, sowie Support-Slots für Bright Eyes und Faye Webster. Auf ihrem dritten Album "Chaos Angel", geht Maya, die mittlerweile 25 Jahre alt ist, mit ihrem sparsamen, ehrlichen Songwriting, mit dem sie sich einen Namen gemacht hat, noch einen Schritt weiter. Es ist ihr bisher klanglich anspruchsvollstes und thematisch nuanciertestes Werk und fühlt sich wie ein Höhepunkt an. In diesen 10 Songs katalogisiert Hawke Umbrüche, Enthüllungen, Schwächen und gebrochene Versprechen, während sie die Muster durchläuft, die wir wiederholen, während wir nach Wachstum streben, uns verirren und unseren Weg zurück zu einem grundlegenden Verständnis von uns selbst finden. "Chaos Angel" ist auch ein Dokument dafür, dass Hawke als Musikerin immer mehr zu sich selbst findet. Tarenah was one of only two singles pressed under the nom de plume of Psychedelic Research Lab - a collaboration between Scott Richmond and John Selway which began while the pair were attending music conservatory at SUNY Purchase College, in upstate New York. Scott produced the first version of the track for a modern dance performance in 1993. A mix of electronics and room full of live musicians, the session featured an afro-cuban percussionist, a Bangladeshi vocalist / tabla player, a classical flautist, and a reggae guitarist, with Scott on keys and engineering, and John on multiple TB-303s. The duo played the piece to a pal, who said, “Listening to your music is like being in a psychedelic research lab” and the moniker was born. DJ Jonathan Kadish, the chill out resident at pioneering NYC rave, NASA, championed the track and subsequently commissioned four remixes for his label, Gyroscopic Recordings.

The tune has been elevated to legendary status in certain circles - due to it being a firm favourite of “The Godfather Of Chill-out”, the late DJ Jose Padilla. Jose at this time had a penchant for “ambient breaks / breakbeats” - seminal stuff like the work of San Francisco's Hardkiss crew and other Bay Area artists. According to close friend Phil Mison, drawn to the Chill Mix, Jose Padilla played and played Tarenah at Ibiza`s Cafe del Mar. It was a daily constant in Jose`s sets for several seasons, and he eventually included the track on the second volume of his essential compilation series honouring said White Isle shrine - put together in the mid-90s for the label React. Sealing the tune`s fate and making Tarenah forever synonymous with Jose and the golden, halcyon, San Antonio, Cala Des Moro, sunsets he soundtracked.

The 3rd Floor Mix, named after the location of the SUNY Purchase studio, is tribally-tinged uplifting progressive house - taking its cues from the contemporary Dutch imprints, Fresh Fruit and Touche. John Selway’s Remix (titled “Spy’s Sub Mix” on the original pressing) strips the track back to a cool, more minimal, jack - heavily influenced by the “bleep” sound of Sheffield`s Warp Records. The Sleepwalker Mix is beatless. Tailored from twisting, intertwining, 303 drones.

Following Tarenah, Scott and John continued devoting their life to dance music. Scott went behind the scenes, founding - alongside Jonathan Kadish - the famous Satellite Records dance music record store chain. He also ran the house and trance labels, Central Park and Pitch Black. In recent years, Scott has worked in artist management, and within the global music festival scene, primarily with Vh1 Supersonic and Ticket Fairy India, which has taken him to Mumbai, Goa, and Pune. John has had an amazingly prolific electronic music career, building a vast, and varied catalogue of productions - both solo, and through collaboration. From Disintegrator and working on Deep Dish`s debut single, to Smith & Selway and The Rancho Relaxo Allstars. Along the way finding the time to run labels such as Serotonin and CSM. Currently John is teaching and mentoring the next generation of electronic music artists at 343 Labs music school, while still producing forward-thinking techno and electro.

This is the first time Tarenah has been reissued in full on vinyl, and Midnight Drive are very proud to present this sublime underground classic once more. Reissued in full conjunction with John Selway and Scott Richmond, remastered by Curvepusher, London and distributed worldwide by Above Board distribution 2022.

Punchy, UK inspired House EP

After surpassing 100k plays on Soundcloud, it became clear
that Ren Riz's disco jam Marmalade deserved an official
release. Accompanying the laid-back, sun-kissed original mix
is the “Late Night” version – a chopped up disco house
reinterpretation with a higher tempo and dance floor appeal.
Jupiter Direct locks the house groove in with its dubby filtering,
rolling bass-line and funky guitar loop. Saving dessert for last -
Pudding is a summery nu-disco tune with a choppy disco
bass-line and Rhodes chords for days. This release is all about
summer sunsets & aperitifs! Ren Riz is a Melbourne based
producer with hip-hop production roots. He began dabbling
with house & electro in the mid 2000s, whilst maintaining
sampling as a backbone to his sound. Along with a string of
remixes and popular re-edits, Riz has released 4 EPs on
various labels, with 2014 seeing him establish his own imprint

The first of a new series of VA releases, Casting Shadows reimagines archival music through the eyes of our favourite DJs. Each volume is overseen by a different selector, inviting us to look through the peephole of their crates.

Cutting the ribbon, we invite German luminary Mick Wills. Active over 3 decades, a perennial influence and looming figure across the wave and techno scenes.
Wills refashions 3 of his favourites, giving them the trademark ‘Cut’ treatment for tender floors worldwide.

The first track sees a crucially overlooked Baby Red Torres number 7” fully expanded to 5 am percussive meltdown business.

Next up synth-botherer Paul Nagle sees his early tape emission‘The Mesomeric Effect’ re-cut by cool hand Mick, coming in hot & throbbing in all the right ways.

Closing on a dramatic note, Kehrschliefe’s Leonid Brezhnev (previously on Polytechnic Youth) is opened up, ripped apart and smartly re-dressed, oozing class and menace.

When John Selway brought his dancing hands to the keyboard to begin work on his first full EP on Serotonin Records since ‘Zoids Vol 2’ in 1998, he channelled cosmic soul to create the next generation of intergalactic funk.
