We welcome this summer heater which is “Gilli 88 EP”. A tribute to the 80s phenomenon…THE PANINARO. Without any ideological basis or connection to a particular lifestyle THE PANINARO was based around fashion imagery and luxurious clothing. Enzo found this translatable to today’s social network dynamics and is prime for the retrofuturistic dancefloors of today that are inspired by the golden days of Italo-Disco.

“Low Red” is a Italo-Pop gem conceived with Quique Aldebaran and Quique on vocals that takes inspiration from the legends that were – the mighty Suicide. An instrumental version dives deeper into the groove for DJ play persuasion. “Aj Squinza” takes a classic 80’s disco approach with sound-scaping synths that endlessly jam with an everchanging rhythm. “Volpinata” succumbs to a classic EBM groove that finds its way out of focus due to fat synth melodies that engorge this elevating track.

The ultimate soundtrack of the summer is here: Mixatissimo, a 10-track vinyl-only mixed dance compilation bridging nostalgic ’80s sunshine vibes with modern Italo and indie-dance energy.

In Italy, during the 1980s, there was an absolute ritual that marked the beginning of summer: the release of those mixed dance compilations with glittering, futuristic covers. They weren’t just records; they were the very definition of sun, sea and tan lines. It was precisely holding one of those vinyls in his hands – the first one he ever bought – that sparked the musical passion of Italian DJ and producer Hey Cabrera!

Today, that perfect circle closes with Mixatissimo, a project that takes that nostalgic inspiration and transports it straight into the modern era.

Released as an exclusive vinyl-only edition by Universo Segundo and powered by Bordello A Parigi, the compilation packs 10 bangers oscillating between modern Italo, indie-dance and electronics, featuring some of the hottest names on the contemporary scene.

Exclusive special edits have been crafted for every single track, locking the groove into a fixed BPM for each side: 122 BPM on Side A and 125 BPM on Side B. Thanks to smooth transitions featuring drums-only sections, the record flows as a continuous stream for the listener, while simultaneously serving as the perfect tool for DJs who want to mix the individual tracks.

A meticulously calibrated selection, designed as much to make the dancefloor explode late at night as to keep the rhythm high in the most sophisticated listening bars.

Freerange welcomes Italian via Berlin producer/DJ/label boss Enzo Elia for his debut on the label entitled The Lost Guitar Tapes. Enzo is someone who has been releasing consistently great music for many years, although
often hidden behind a myriad of pseudonyms and underground imprints. For starters he's responsible for a mysterious yet established and very excellent edits label as well as being a member of Balearic Gabba Sound System alongside Bjorn Torske amongst others. Following the philosophy of this collective, Enzo is also producing lovingly and respectfully created re-edits of long lost techno and house tracks as well as many new tunes
for influential labels including Golf Channel and Compost.
But for now we turn to The Lost Guitar Tapes and specifically the original mix of Drifting which opens up the release with a brilliant tension builder. A rolling bassline, crisp minimal drums and a subtly Middle Eastern-influenced melodic line give just a hint of mysticism to this jewel of a track.
For the remix we have none other than the Tel Aviv via Berlin producer Moscoman, fresh from his brilliant debut LP on ESP Institute and releases on Eskimo and his own Disco Halal label. Moscoman's organic, percussion- heavy sound and Middle Eastern roots make him the perfect choice to take
on Drifting and we couldn't have wished for a better outcome. He manages to inject his own identity to the track with newly recorded live guitar and bass parts and taking in elements of techno, new wave and house, he's created a sublime piece of dancefloor drama. Finally we have an alternate Dub version which lays down a firmer four on the floor, extra percussion and dubby stabs for a more driving atmospheric club tool.
