Senselessness 1/2 is the very first solo issue of the Swiss electronic composer Robin Félix, on his own label De l’Aube (Of Dawn), the occasion for him to prove that field recordings can be (or should be?) an integral part of the global matter, when so often they are just something hovering in the background because it’s “nice” or reminds the artist of a place he loves.

Throughout the length of these four tracks, they are litterally central; moreover, they are electronically transformed, manipulated, skewed and twisted in order to form some sort of framework, a backbone on to which sounds and genres intertwine. On Cluster, violins and cellos (recorded in the gardens of the Venice Biennale) are soon transmuted into the abrasions of the electroacoustic realm, until the pulse of a relentless bass introduces a pure and pristine electronic music that knows and uses the roots of dub, drum’n’bass and the meticulousness of Jan Jelinek’s Glitch aesthetics. A tad “housy”, Chi comes as a second pulse where a modified didgeridoo and African percussions (recorded in a Swiss forest) lead the listener to a sort of tribal mode, as suited to dancers than to those who prefer inner journeys; here, the spatial dub of King Tubby moves from background to foreground.

The more abstract Boiler verges on the IDM and the heady, elegant and spartan Detroit techno – headphones reveal its numerous minute and delicate details. Based on the recording of insects, of which one can hear the actual rubbing of elytras, the closing Swarm ends the record with and intricate blend of ambient, which in some way winks to the Aphex Twin and The Future Sound Of London. Overall Senselessness 1/2 is a mesmerising and concise update of the famous Deutsche elektronische musik of old, that gathered on its way the other genres that made Robin Félix tick. From the moment she began writing her new album, Japanese
Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner knew that she wanted to call it
‘Jubilee’. After all, a jubilee is a celebration of the passage of time
- a festival to usher in the hope of a new era in brilliant technicolor.
Zauner’s first two albums garnered acclaim for the way they
grappled with anguish; ‘Psychopomp’ was written as her mother
underwent cancer treatment, while ‘Soft Sounds From Another
Planet’ took the grief she held from her mother’s death and used it
as a conduit to explore the cosmos.
Now, at the start of a new decade, Japanese Breakfast is ready to
fight for happiness, an all-too-scarce resource in our seemingly
crumbling world.
‘Jubilee’ finds Michelle Zauner embracing ambition and, with it, her
boldest ideas and songs yet. Inspired by records like Bjork’s
‘Homogenic’, Zauner delivers bigness throughout - big ideas, big
textures, colours, sounds and feelings. At a time when virtually
everything feels extreme, ‘Jubilee’ sets its sights on maximal joy,
imagination and exhilaration. It is, in Michelle Zauner’s words, “a
record about fighting to feel. I wanted to re-experience the pure,
unadulterated joy of creation… The songs are about recalling the
optimism of youth and applying it to adulthood. They’re about
making difficult choices, fighting ignominious impulses and
honoring commitments, confronting the constant struggle we have
with ourselves to be better people.”
Throughout ‘Jubilee’, Zauner pours her own life into the universe
of each song to tell real stories and allowing those universes, in
turn, to fill in the details. Joy, change, evolution - these things take

Guilherme Granado & Bruno Abdala Unite in FILHOS, a long-awaited collaboration between the two Brazilian musicians.

After years of friendship and sporadic live collaborations, Granado (São Paulo) and Abdala (Goiânia) have finally brought their creative synergy into a full-fledged project. Despite the geographical distance, a collaboration was inevitable — and now, it has become a reality.

The creative process moved swiftly once the exchange of ideas and files began. While the exact timeline is a blur, the inspiration remains clear: life itself. Musical influences are ever-evolving, shaped by experiences and time, but the essence of this project remains rooted in a deep connection to existence.

The sonic landscape is built from an eclectic palette: samplers, bells, synthesizers, drums, marimba, vibraphone, bass, violas, and more to create an elegant tapestry of sound that pays homage to the past while forging new paths forward.

At its core, this project is a tribute to tradition and lineage, hence Filhos (Sons). We are all products of what came before us, and through music, we strive to honor that legacy—carrying it forward into the future.

Künstlerinnen (Mizi Lee, Seonha Park, Jerry Ahn, Yun Park, Lilian Gonzalez, Hanseo Oh) mit Migrationshintergrund im Mai 2022 in Stuttgart initiiert wurde. Dem Prinzip der horizontalen Übertragung folgend, übertragen sie dies auf u.a. Memes, Posts, Chats- oder K-Pop-Kulturen, die sich über Smartphones oder iPads verbreiten und suchen dabei nach einem experimentellen Weg, um mit Text, Musik und visuellen Elementen zu Mode, Infektion und Migration zu forschen. HGT hinterfragt nicht nur kulturelle Normen, sondern reagiert direkt auch auf Stereotypen oder rassistische Angriffe. Direkte Fragen werden gestellt, energetische Aussagen getroffen und Stimmungen eingeholt die mal aggressiv, mal entspannt oder mit einem Augenzwinkern dargeboten werden. HGT sind eine Wundertüte verschiedener Genres und Stile, von Punk bis Poetry aber auch Schlager und Elektro gibt es zu entdecken. 'Everything Possibbong' ist das zweite Album und HGT lassen sich weiterhin nicht eine Schublade stecken. Den Score schrieb der australische Filmkomponist François Tétaz, bekannt für seine Arbeiten für "Elvis" (2022), "Wolf Creek" (2005) und "Judy & Punch" (2019). Er fängt die Nostalgie des Protagonisten für den Strand seiner Kindheit, seine unterschwellige Melancholie und die einzigartige Atmosphäre des Ortes ein. Ein Mensch verbringt den ganzen Tag damit, eine Maschine zu bauen, nur damit sie ihn die ganze Nacht hindurch quält. Als ob das nicht schon verdreht genug wäre, gefällt es ihnen auch noch. Es gefällt ihnen sogar so gut, dass sie am Morgen verjüngt aufwachen und eifrig an der Maschine feilen, bis sie in ihrem Kopf perfekt läuft.
Dies ist die nächtliche Vision, die Cryptopsy zu ihrem neunten Album Nightmare inspiriert hat. "Hüte dich vor dem Scheinwerferlicht", warnt Sänger Matt McGachy, bevor "Dead Eyes Replete" mit einem schmerzerfüllten Breakdown vor deinen Augen aufblitzt. An Insatiable Violence spiegelt unsere toxische Beziehung zu den sozialen Medien wider, aber obwohl es unheimlich vorausschauend ist, ist das Album von den vielen Mutationen beeinflusst, die die Hall of Fame-Diskografie der Band geprägt haben. Inspiriert von einem Mukbang, der furchtbar schief gegangen ist, ist der gefräßige Opener "The Nimis Adoration" ein Sammelsurium an Blasts, Christian Donaldsons Fishhook-Riffs und einer kräftigen Portion Groove, der die Boxen zum Beben bringt.

Cryptopsy wissen, dass nicht jede brutale Technical-Death-Metal-Band lange genug durchhält, um nach 30 Jahren einen kanadischen Grammy zu gewinnen. Das Cover von "An Insatiable Violence" wurde von dem verstorbenen, großartigen Martin Lacroix gestaltet, der mit unheiligem Vergnügen über die frischen, fetthaltigen Tiefen von McGachys falschem Akkordschrei grölen würde. Ein anderer ehemaliger Sänger kehrt auf "Embrace the Nihility" zurück, um alle flüsternden Zweifel an seiner Vormachtstellung zu zerstören. Doch obwohl Cryptopsy bereits auf ihrem zweiten Studiowerk die Krone der abscheulichsten Death-Metal-Band für sich beansprucht haben, gehen sie immer noch an die Grenzen des Extremen.

Die Leadsingle des Albums rumpelt und knirscht zu Olivier Pinards schaurigen Bassschlägen - und doch erhebt "Until There's Nothing Left" im Kern den Anspruch, Cryptopsys größter Ohrwurm zu sein. Selbst Flo Mounier - der buchstäblich das Buch des extremen Metal-Drummings geschrieben hat - hat neue Techniken verfeinert, um die Blasphemie von An Insatiable Violence frisch zu halten. Zum Abschluss kommt "Malicious Needs" im Schneckentempo daher, bevor es wie eine Fledermaus in eine schwarze Rauchwolke aufsteigt.

Verbeugt euch vor der neuen Abscheulichkeit der Könige des extremen Metal.

The debut release on Caricia Records sees longtime collaborators VIL and CRAVO refine the language they've developed through years of joint work, both individually and as members of the Hayes collective. Between them, their output on labels like Monnom Black, Klockworks, Self Reflektion and the aforementioned Hayes Collective has consistently balanced precision with character, and this first chapter under their new imprint is no exception.

Opening with So Right, the record sets a distinct tone, with rolling percussion and a hypnotic vocal line threading through the mix with restraint and control. 420% FODA leans into classic swing and texture, tightly looped and built for movement without ever overreaching. On the B-side, CRAVO offers Future Detroit, a stripped-back piece with room to breathe, subtle in its shifts but firm in its intent. VIL rounds off the EP with Hard to Find, a playful closer that keeps things buoyant and dynamic, pushing forward without losing its shape.

Caricia 001 is about clarity of purpose. No filler, no theatrics, just four tracks that speak for themselves.

Revisiting her roots, this latest single embraces the trademark reggae / tropical pop sound Hollie found fame with on her first two albums. With a career that has gone from strength to strength since those formative days, the buoyance, charisma, and confidence gained in those subsequent years are on show for all to see.

Recorded at Crosstown Studios in London with the General Roots band and produced, mixed and dubbed by Ben McKone, ‘Night Night’ documents the longing of a lonely lover. Grounded in a sound system rattling bass line, strutting guitars and shimmering keys provide a sunshine-infused contrast. Hollie’s smooth sultry tones radiate throughout, backed by the legendary Horseman on toasting duties - a collaboration that hasn’t been heard since Hollie’s first album. Trading verses, the warmth of Hollie's velvety vocals balances Horseman's raw explosive energy in an absorbing harmony.

In true reggae style, the 7" single is backed with a classic dub mix, adding spacey reverb and delays, whilst giving Hollie and Horseman a more spacious streamlined flow in the mix.

Selbst die Mitglieder der Band kommen aus verschiedenen europäischen Ländern - aus der Schweiz, Dänemark, Frankreich und England. „Wir vermischen auf natürliche Weise unsere verschiedenen musikalischen Vorlieben aus der ganzen Welt, um den Sound unserer Musik zu formen.“, erklärt die Band. „Alma's Cove“ ist ein Paradebeispiel dafür, inspiriert von klassischer spanischer Gitarre, Americana-Soundscapes und der Musik der Filme von Studio Ghibli. Yuuf starten im Mai eine Europa-Tournee mit mehreren Stopps bei verschiedenen Sommerfestivals, darunter Wilde Weide Festival, Green Man, Chez Hubert und Psych Festival. Die Band hat im Sommer 2024 ihre Debüt-EP, „In The Sun“, veröffentlicht, die bereits über 1,5 Millionen Streams allein auf Spotify erreicht hat und von BBC 6Music, KEXP, KRCW und der Instagram-Plattform, Somewhere Soul (919K Follower:innen), unterstützt wurde. Jess Kerber aus Nashville nahm im Alter von 12 Jahren erstmals eine Gitarre in die Hand, um mit ihren frühreifen Stimmungen und Zupfstilen zu experimentieren - beeinflusst von Gleichgesinnten wie Joni Mitchell und Susan Tedeschi. Dies führte zur Entwicklung einer einzigartigen Klangpalette und zu einem authentischen, persönlichen Zugang zum Songwriting. Inspiriert wurde sie gleichermaßen von ihrer Erziehung in Louisiana und dem Studium am Bostoner Berklee College of Music. Ihr Debütalbum "From Way Down Here" zeigt die Dynamik und Tiefe ihrer großartigen Stimme und ihrer nachdenklichen, humanistischen Texte, sowie die raffinierte Komplexität ihres Gitarrenspiels. Limited edition white vinyl (800 copies) The self-styled ritualistic electro-mechanical ensemble OSMIUM is a veritable supergroup. Made up of Oscar-winning composer and instrumentalist Hildur Gudnadóttir, veteran engineer and producer James Ginzburg, Senyawa's idiosyncratic vocalist Rully Shabara and Grammy-winning sound designer / producer Sam Slater, while each member brings along a laundry list of accolades, the project is far greater than the sum of its parts. Alloying burnished electroacoustic soundscapes with dense, metallic drones, barbed rhythms and buckled, bio-mechanical vocalizations, OSMIUM's eagerly awaited debut album doesn't try to cast a rigid future. Rather, it tempers a viscous flow of unorthodox speculations that smolders through the distant past, blazing a trail all the way to the frontier of fate. Absorbed by questions about the relationship between humans and technology, tradition and progression, the individual and the group, OSMIUM channel their experience and expertise into a set of forward-thinking sonic interrogations that skewer established cultural preconceptions. And although genre is acknowledged - the album draws from folk, doom metal, 20th century minimalism, industrial music and extreme noise - there's never a sense that it's riveted firmly in place. Widely known for her soundtrack work (including `Joker' and `Chernobyl') Gudnadóttir plays the halldorophone, a unique cello-like electroacoustic instrument designed by Halldór Ulfarsson that allows the performer to harness unstable feedback loops. Taking his cues from this process, Slater (who has worked alongside Jóhann Jóhannsson, Ben Frost and others) generates rhythms using a self-oscillating drum he designed with KOMA Elektronik and Subtext boss and Emptyset member Ginzburg responds in kind, producing booming tambura-like sonorities from a device he developed himself based on the monocord, an ancient single- stringed resonator. OSMIUM synchronize the three unique instruments using a custom system of robotics to generate basic rhythms that underpin their improvisations and experiments, and Shabara's alien tones supply the band with their conceptual fulcrum. The vocalist is one of South Asia's most recognizable underground artists, and the sounds he's able to create using exhaustively rehearsed extended techniques are so distinctive that he's been studied by scientists back home in Indonesia. Never weighed down by needless sound design or modish ornamentation, it's music that feels authentically experimental; OSMIUM have figured out an awkward symmetry between their discrete approaches, concentrating their gaze on the outcome rather than the process. The result is a work of science fiction that's driven by interaction, conversation and sensation.

Makin’ Moves bring this archived studio gem to the fore as it was just too damn good to be left sitting on the drive! Rewind back to 2005 and a chance studio meeting in London between Bugz in the Attic producer Afronaught aka Orin Walters and Justin Chapman aka Kemeticjust who decided to work on some tracks. It was a time in London where there was a huge melting pot of new sounds in the broken beat era / scene and that sound was at the forefront of London’s club scene including night’s like Co-op at Plastic People in Shoreditch. However, these sounds still have stayed the test of time and very prominent still in clubland today.
Justin’s classy vocal tells a political story about our modern times in American and feeling of oppression with in the Black race.
Phil Asher (RIP) at the time loved the track and decided to do his own “Restless Soul Dub” remix version, adding his characteristic drums and stripping the vocal back while also keeping the soulfulness of Kemetic’s original.
