Formed in Brussels in 2017, Milk TV has drunk from many sources, quenching an enormous thirst for inspiration to create a singular universe, imbued with nostalgia and cynicism towards Anglo-Saxon pop culture. That of cheap TV programs, giant milk bottle ads, but above all of the underground, from New York no-wave to the Californian noise scene. With "NEO GEO", a new album on Brussels label EXAG' Records, the trio take their music to even more versatile playgrounds, an art-rock kaleidoscope, perhaps more intuitive and effective than its predecessor. While the band's trademark bass chorus and jerky rhythms with a hint of exotica are still present, some tracks give way to a more punky, immediate energy.

FONCEDALLE is a high-volume amplified trio, a warm wave of acid guitars fuelled by addictive bass and electronic beats. In late 2021, they released their Traboule EP and went on a tour that saw them perform 40 gigs between 2022 and 2023, half of which were in Europe. Their debut, self-titled album is set to be released in March 2024 on EXAG’ Records (BE). It's rawer, with tracks meticulously crafted and reworked live. While still exploring the realms of rock fused with machines, electronic trance, and melodic flights, the album also has its share of oppressive sections, unbridled chaos, and ambient, ethereal passages. FONCEDALLE serves as the missing link between the Manchester scene of the 80s, Gilla Band’s noise rock, Soulwax’s electronic rock, and the motoric turbines of Turing Machine. For this supa funky 7inch, King Most first takes on Dorothy (Ashby), Dilla (Jay) and Phife (Dog) and puts it all in the blender for a rare groove(ish) hip hop jam...on a slight Detroit tip.

On the AA side King Most hits up Patrice Rushen and blends her with Soul II Soul vocals for a warm and tasteful rework.

2024 markiert den 20. Jahrestag der Veröffentlichung eines Albums, das nie auf Vinyl gepresst wurde,
und unter der Leitung der Gruppe ersetzt diese längst überfällige Neuauflage die Bonustracks durch die
kraftvollen Singles aus dem 2008er Reunion-Album Forth - ’Love is Noise’ und ’Rather Be’ - und enthält
auch die zweite Single ’She’s A Superstar’ (1992) in ihrer ursprünglichen, achteinhalbminütigen Form (statt
der fünfminütigen Bearbeitung). Somit repräsentiert das Album nun die komplette Geschichte der Singles
von The Verve.
Benannt nach der sechsten Single der Band, der ersten aus ihrem zweiten Album A Northern Soul, dokumentiert es auf brillante Weise die Kraft der relativ kurzen, aber epochemachenden Reise von The Verve
durch den musikalischen Kosmos.

Annahstasia kündigt ihr Debütalbum „Tether“ an, das am 13. Juni über drink sum wtr erscheint. Gleichzeitig mit der Ankündigung veröffentlicht sie die neue Single „Villain“.

Annahstasia sagt über die neue Single: „Wir alle bestehen sowohl aus Schatten als auch aus Licht. Aus irgendeinem Blickwinkel sind wir alle der Bösewicht der Geschichte gewesen, wir versuchen alle unser Bestes und verhandeln ums Überleben.“ Die Single wird von einem atemberaubenden Musikvideo begleitet, bei dem Adam Davis Regie führte und in dem die schwarze Rodeo-Community in Tulsa, Oklahoma zu sehen ist.

„Meine Karriere war eine Lektion in Geduld“, sagt Annahstasia, die ihre musikalische Sprache zwischen den Flammen der Intimität und Unabhängigkeit über verschiedene Leben, Orte und Wiederholungen hinweg kultiviert hat, verlorene und gewonnene Lieben, Erwartungen, die sich entzogen und neu geschaffen wurden. As Dustin Zahn's Enemy Records celebrates its 20th anniversary with a string of special releases, Marcal returns once again with 4 new signature style tracks. The EP demonstrates further refinement of Marcal's shamanic tribal grooves that everybody knows and loves, along with an artistic progression towards weirder and deeper sonic territory.



The vinyl starts off with "Swindle," a powerful and unstoppable peak time track emphasizing groove and tension above all else. "Two Become One" completes the A side with a slightly more mellow and delicate vibe that will 'lock in' just about any

The B side kicks off with "Blessing," a track comprised of rolling mysticism and unrelenting rhythms. It's classic Marcal in top form. In 2000 Belgian singer and composer ZIPPORA surprised the international trance-scene with her debut-single LOTUS EATER. In was produced at the time by ILLUSION-DJ DJ Philip and BYTE inhouse-producer EDDY WEYNS. 25 years later it gets a massive remake by none the less than NICO PARISI (known as a resident-DJ in ATMOZ and producer/remixer of Nunca, Aqualords, Nico Parisi of course and the legendary track METRO).

Italian cinematic funk legends Calibro 35 continue their journey into the world of cinematic jazz-funk. "Exploration" marks their return to independent label Record Kicks after their last studio album "Nouvelle Aventures" released on Universal Music in 2023. The band picks up from their latest EP, "Jazzploitation," released on Record Kicks last October. "Exploration" is a deep dive into the universe of cinematic jazz-funk, showcasing both the band's reinterpretations of timeless classics such as Roy Ayers' "Coffy" or Bob James "Nautilus" and original compositions by the band such us the lead single "Reptile Strut", the jazz-funk stormer "The Twang" and the soulful cinematic number "Pied De Poule". Conceptualized and written during the chaotic fall months of 2020, Hiss Golden Messenger’s O Come All Ye Faithful recorded shortly after the widely hailed Quietly Blowing It is a meditation on grace, loss, hope, and community. Explains songwriter M.C. Taylor, “Big, brash holiday music the type that we hear in big box stores in the middle of December has never resonated with me, and this past year it felt absolutely dissonant. I wanted to make a seasonal record that felt more in step with the way that I, and so many others, experience this time of year: quiet, contemplative, searching, and bittersweet.” Contributors to O Come All Ye Faithful include many members of Hiss Golden Messenger’s extended family, as well as special guests like GRAMMY Award winner Aoife O’Donovan, Nathaniel Rateliff, Erin Rae, and Buddy Miller. The tracklist includes new tunes written by Taylor, classic hymns, and renditions of songs by Spiritualized, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Woody Guthrie, all arranged in the inimitable Hiss Golden Messenger style. Adorned with a beautifully spare design created by celebrated artist Cody Hudson. The deluxe vinyl version of O Come All Ye Faithful includes an additional collection of remixes by Revelators, Taylor’s spiritual jazz and dub-influenced project with Cameron Ralston.

Honour's debut album is a ligament stretching from Lagos to London and to New York, curling across the diaspora and brushing the darker hues of blues, hip-hop, free jazz, ambient, gospel with Christian mythology and Yoruba folklore. As cinematic as it is painterly, Alàáfíà is a meditation on themes of life, death and love that pulls inspiration from the unexpected poetic profundity of casual conversations, field recordings, literature, ephemera, or personal archives. The result is an impressionistic vision in Black and Blur that both exhausts and implicates language_substantiating a mythos proposed by Fred Moten that sublimates boundaries between everywhere and nowhere; history and the present; the individual and the universal. Alàáfíà delineates a gothic landscape cut by overdriven beats, swooping orchestral blasts, choral bursts and ear- splitting fuzz, where the fleshly and spiritual realms commune. Dedicated to Honour's late grandmother, the title track began to take form after their last embrace and remains steeped in her influence and spirit_a tape-saturated composition that starts in Lagos and ends in London's smoke-stained cityscape, the song's dream-like quality developed out of the artist's grief and PTSD coping with this loss. Beneath the stretched guitar drones and stuttering loops, their grandmother's shared faith bubbles to the surface. "When Angels Speak of Love," borrows its title from two works by Sun Ra and bell hooks, respectively. Sculpting echoes of praise music into disorienting spirals perforated with syrupy DJ Screw-inspired breaks and sharp splinters of melancholic guitar, "When Angels Speak of Love" engages a conceptual dialogue with the spirits of both late thinkers, folding them into Honour's pantheon of ancestral guides. The album's ninth track, "Giz Aard ($uckets)," is a dirge of regimented drums which anchor this somber melody as it whirls into a blizzard of heartache, uncertain if its consequence will be death or eternal joy. The album's sole lyrical offering, "Pistol Poem (Lead Belly)," begins with a darkly humorous bar, "He went thru hell and back/ came back/ 2 get the strap," that swells into a haunting allegory based on the life of Philip "Hot Sauce" Champion. A modern take on the Blues, Honour's lyrics reify the artist's status as a student of both literature and popular culture, crossbreeding the artist's clever wordplay with additional references to Richard Pryor, Robert Johnson, Kelly Rowland & Bryon Gysin. Setting core principles of hip-hop, R&B, jazz and gospel music to atemporal soundscapes and compositions, Honour crafts a record that marinates in its own knotty contradictions. The ghosts that sit on the artist's shoulders have never been more tangible than with this emotive debut.

A compilation of tracks that rearrange Okinawan folk songs into Jazz Funk, crossover, and large ensemble jazz, featuring works by Kiyoshi Yamaya, who was also highlighted in "Diggers Dozen" (BBE) by the Japanese DJ MURO, known as the "King of Diggin," and "Wamono Groove: Shakuhachi & Koto Jazz Funk 1976" (180g). This collection debuts as the latest installment in the "Ryukyu Rare Groove" series, which was originally released in Japan in 2003 to great acclaim.

As Inagaki himself said, "I did black funk" by fusing the explosiveness of jazz rock that he had cultivated up until then with the tenacity and elasticity of black music, his musicality has leapt to another dimension. Combined with the ingenious arrangements of master Hiromasa Suzuki, the groove is polished, glossy, and shining mysteriously. All the songs are worth listening to, such as the dynamism and speed of "Painted Paradise" the coexistence of funkiness and mellowness of "Breeze" and the low-centered and sharp cover of Cool & the Gang's "Funky Stuff". It is now a definitive masterpiece that is in demand all over the world.

Pratts & Payne, the South London pub that sits around the corner from the famed home studio of producer Dan Carey, has an important place in the history of Royel Otis. When making their debut album with Carey in early 2023, the Australian duo - childhood friends Otis Pavlovic and Royel Maddell - would decamp to the pub to finish lyrics and make decisions on the direction of their first LP. "Dan would ask us to record vocals," Royel remembers, "and we'd say, 'Just give us half an hour, we're popping to Pratts & Payne', and we'd have a pint, a few shots, and get some lyrics down." Eventually, it made such a mark that they named the record PRATTS & PAIN. Across the debut album, Royel Otis swing between melodic, pop- inspired indie and woozy psych, but it never feels tied to one lane. As soon as one style or mood has outstayed its welcome, they handbrake turn into psychedelic weirdness or dissonant noise, keeping everybody on their toes. After the table was laid on the two EPs, PRATTS & PAIN brings everything from the band's history together on a record that's reverent towards their beginnings but unafraid to push forwards into new sounds. This loose, open formula for what makes a Royel Otis song is written all over PRATTS & PAIN, an album defined by its sense of fun and adventure. On the tracks 'Velvet' and 'Big Ciggie', Carey's 11-year-old nephew Archie appears on drums, and a spontaneous energy ran through the sessions, one which can be heard across the album. On first single 'Adored', they master the perfect indie-pop hit, while 'Sonic Blue' keeps this underlying energy but sets screeching guitars over the top. 'Velvet', meanwhile, has the stomping energy of Talking Heads, while 'Molly' is an unsettling and deeply atmospheric slow jam. Whatever sonic template the music might be based on though, the crux of Royel Otis comes back to a foundational DNA of mutual trust. Royel says: "We have fun together, and it's not difficult. I trust what Otis thinks and what he does, and I back it. If you back each other, something good comes from it."

The album is a manifesto from start to finish featuring stellar collaborations with Ela Minus, Casey MQ, Erika de Casier, Xander Amahd, Jonny from Space, Esty & Mediopicky, and Lavurn.

You'll find hazy tracks for the body and the mind; tracks to dedicate and feel deeply; tracks for heartbreak and tracks with the promise of future love. You will find themes of memory, sleep deprivation, decaying wildlife, and the suburban still life of Florida. “A Tropical Entropy” captures the haunting feeling of watching life unfold like a broken video recording—frozen in the orange hue of a never-ending sunset, signalling the final days of an apocalypse. In the meantime, León and TraTra will continue to establish their influence on the global circuit and their mission to keep releasing edgy music that connects la mente con el qlo.

Grey Matter - Lost In Thought, originally released in November 1996 on Axia Records as a 5 track EP is now back on vinyl.

"Acid Techno, slo-mo Hip Hop breaks, right through to old school, bottom heavy warehouse grooves and Depeche Mode-meets-Juan Atkins purism. The real surprise, here, though, is how thoroughly listenable the whole thing is. Innovative, imaginative, and pretty bloody good."

Mit seinem neuen, selbstbetitelten Album befindet er sich in seiner Blütezeit als Künstler: selbstbewusst in Bezug auf seine Stimme und seine Fähigkeiten, beflügelt von Kritikerlob aus allen Ecken - einschließlich zweier norwegischer Grammy-Nominierungen - und einer Welle von Zuhörern überall. Mit der Wahl von Beatrice Dillon als Produzentin des Albums - die britische Elektronikmusikerin ist eindeutig eine Weggefährtin in der Praxis des originellen ästhetischen Ausdrucks - ist ihr Einfluss unmittelbar und deutlich spürbar. Daraus entstanden Systeme, die Studien von Tempo und Proportionen ermöglichten, ein Ausgangspunkt für einen immersiven improvisatorischen Ansatz, der jahrelange musikalische Erkundungen abbildet. Es ist der Klang von sozialer Emanzipation durch den meditativen Puls und die Geschwindigkeit der Zirkularatmung und den Tanz des Körpers, insbesondere der Finger, der Zunge und der Lippen. It's spring of 2023 in the North Carolina Piedmont, and songwriter and singer M.C. Taylor - leader of the band Hiss Golden Messenger - is feeling alive. Joyful. Eternal, he might say. For the Grammy-nominated musician, whose albums have traced an internal path through adulthood, fatherhood, spirituality, and depression for well over a decade, this is something new. "The tunes on Jump for Joy were composed in free moments throughout 2022, a year during which Hiss was on the road more or less constantly," explains Taylor. "And perhaps because the post-pandemic energy out in the world felt so chaotic and uncertain, I found myself thinking a lot about the role that music has played in my life and how exactly I ended up in the rarefied position of leading a band and crew all over the globe through dingy graffiti-scrawled green rooms, venerated music halls, dust-blown roadside motels.

Sometimes playing in front of 5,000; sometimes 200. Sleeping sitting up. Laughing until my stomach hurts. Not being able to fall asleep at 3 a.m. in some anonymous bed because my mind is spinning with anxiety or depression or adrenaline, or because my ears are still ringing. Robbing Peter to pay Paul, then robbing Paul to pay Peter back. Over and over again. It's an outlaw life but one, I'm coming to realize, that makes me happy." The songs that make up Jump for Joy - the sharpest and most autobiographical that Taylor has written under the Hiss name - read as a sort of epistolary, postcards between the present-day songwriter and his alias Michael Crow, a teenaged dreamer very much like Taylor himself, who trips his way through the 14 tunes that make up the record.
