Starbound Stories ist ein packendes Animeinspiriertes Power Metal-Abenteuer mit Einflüssen von japanischer Musik und Videospiel-Soundtracks, die der Sänger gemeinsam mit einer Vielzahl von bemerkenswerten Gästen umsetzt.

Das instrumentale „As The Twilight Met The Sea“ eröffnet die phnantasievolle Klanglandschaften des Albums und wird von Samurai Metal-Meister Ryoji Shinomoto (RYUJIN, früher bekannt als Gyze) auf traditionellen japanischen Instrumenten begleitet. Sucesiones is a compilation of studies written for 53 equal divisions of the octave (53 EDO). This tuning temperament was selected after analyzing the work of Mexican researcher and visionary Augusto Novaro, one of the microtonal and just intonation pioneer theorists. Novaro claims that 53 EDO is one of rich musical qualities, which has good approximations to the harmonic series.

The use of simple textures such as sine waves was a conscious decision, this in order to maintain the focus on the relationship between the frequencies and the possibilities this tuning allows, that fluctuate from aggressive beat frequencies to pure intervals. These four compositions serve as an introduction and familiarization to the tuning’.

José Orozco Mora (Chapala, México) has worked with different aspects of sound creation, such as composition, sound design, recording and production. His work mainly explores the fundamental aspects of the sonic spectrum, implementing alternate tunings and temperaments, exploring their harmonic content through the combination of frequencies, using both acoustic and electronic sources. These explorations had led Orozco to utilize different artistic mediums such as quadraphonic compositions, sound installations, and others.

Orozco has released his work in labels such as Debacle Records (USA), Constellation Tatsu (USA), Hole Records (MEX). He has performed and presented his work in Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, México, Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, etc.

Kennengelernt haben sich Lena und Linus in der Würzburger Musikszene, in der beide unterwegs waren: Linus mit selbstproduziertem englischsprachigem Indie-Pop, Lena mit elektronischem Deutsch-Pop. Wenn man jung ist und nicht so viel geht, dort wo man ist, ist das ein schlüssiger Gedanke: Lass doch mal was zusammen machen. Also fangen die beiden an, zusammen Konzerte zu spielen. Originally released in 1979, Rafferty’s third studio album, Night Owl, reached the top 10 in the UK. It's since gone platinum in Canada and gold in the UK and US and features the tracks 'Get It Right Next Time' and 'Days Gone Down (Still Got the Light in Your Eyes)'.
With hits such as ‘Baker Street’, ‘Right Down The Line’ and ‘Night Owl’, Gerry Rafferty is one of Scotland’s and the UK’s finest songwriters and musicians in history. He first found success as part of the band The Humblebums, which included beloved comedian, actor and musician Billy Connolly. Rafferty went on to form Stealers Wheel with old school friend Joe Egan, who produced a number of successful albums alongside the rock classic Stuck In The Middle With You, a track which has transcended generations with notable syncs in films such as Tarantino’s Resevoir Dogs, and is still widely popular to this day. Following his departure from Stealers Wheel, Rafferty relaunched his solo career in 1978 with the album City To City, including hits such as ‘Right Down The Line’ and ‘Baker Street’, which features the iconic saxophone solo by Raphael Ravenscroft. Rafferty went on to release ten studio albums, solidifying his status one of the finest musicians and songwriters to come out of the UK.

Snakes and Ladders, newly remastered at half-speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, out on 25th August 2023. Originally released in 1980, the fourth album from Gerry Rafferty includes "The Garden Of England" which was recorded at Beatles producer George Martin's AIR studio in Montserrat and "Johnny's Song", a remake of a song previously released by his former band Stealer's Wheels.

"Matasuna Records" journey goes to "South Africa" for the first time to reissue two superb Afro-/Jazzfunk songs by the band "Freeway". Released in 1975 on the South African label "Flame", the album "Abahambi – Balomhlaba" was rediscovered and re-released by the good folks of "Black Pearl Records" from Berlin in 2013. The LP immediately landed on Matasuna Records' album best list and was at the top of the reissue wish list. Now that goal has come true to officially release two songs on 45, making them available as 7inch vinyl singles for the first time. Transferred from the original master tapes and remastered to sound as good as never before. An essential release!

The title track of the album "Abahambi" composed by "Sipho Gumede" and also the album opener is also the A-side of the Matasuna release. The song immediately builds up an incredible groove with the first bar and offers an atmospherically dense, 5-minute funk firework. The musicians master their instruments to perfection: be it in the collective playing as well as in the polished solo passages, where they can fully demonstrate their skills. One of the tunes that could run endlessly without ever getting boring.

On the flip side, the song "Umlazi" composed by "Enoch Mthalane" is another testament to the sophistication of their arrangements & musicality. Although this song is much slower in tempo, it is in no way inferior to the A-side in intensity. Especially the piano generates a hypnotic groove, which is skillfully continued by the guitar. Another musical treat!

The fact that the composers of the songs and musicians of the band are (or were) well-known greats of South African jazz music, but the album respectively the band name "Freeway" does not appear in any bio/discography is more than curious. Apparently it is considered proven that the band was founded by bass player "Sipho Gumede".

Born in "Durban" (South Africa), "Sipho Gumede" learned to play the guitar autodidactically until he received his first introduction to jazz from jazz guitarist "Cyril Magubane" at the age of 16. He switched to bass and then got his first professional music job as a member of the "Jazz Revellers" band. In 1970 he went to "Johannesburg" where he met, worked with and toured with some great musicians of that time. He formed several bands with some of them such as "Roots", "Spirits Rejoice" or "Sakhile". Gumede also recorded collaborative pieces with other jazz legends before recording his first solo album in 1985. In the following years he was involved in tours of North America, Europe, as well as many African countries. In 2000, Sipho moved back to "KwaZulu-Natal", where he taught music and performed for township youth. His artistic productivity did not stop there, however, and he produced a number of other albums. In total, he produced, recorded and contributed to more than 20 albums. He died in July 2004 after a short illness.

Yard Act veröffentlichen ihre brandneue Single ”The Trench Coat Museum”. Co-produziert von GorillazMitglied Remi Kabaka Jr., ist die Single die erste eigene Musik seit der Veröffentlichung ihres mit dem Mercury Prize ausgezeichneten Debütalbums „The Overload“ im Januar 2022.

Das Album zählt als bestverkauftes Album auf Vinyl des ersten Quartals 2022, The Sunday Times kürte es zum Album der Woche und Rolling Stone UK ernannte die britische Indie-Rock-Band zudem zur besten Band bei den Rolling Stone UK Awards.

Einige Singles wurden von Radiosendern wie BBC 6 Music als „Tune Of The Week“ ausgezeichnet, darunter „Payday“, „Pour Another“ und „100% Endurance“. Letztere wurde in einer speziellen Version mit PopIkone Elton John veröffentlicht. Das zugehörige Musikvideo wurde bei den letztjährigen UK Music Video Awards in den Kategorien Best Alternative Video und Best Performance in a Video nominiert.

2022 wurde Yard Act außerdem mit dem „Grulke Prize for Developing non-US Act“ ausgezeichnet.

Die Band befindet im Frühling auf einer 34 Termine umfassenden Tournee in Nordamerika mit Mercury Rev, mit Festivalauftritten bei Levitation in Angers, Frankreich im Juni, Elevation in Graz, Österreich im Juli und NOX ORAE in der Schweiz im August, die Tourneen in Europa ist für September 2022 geplant plus einer weiteren im Februar 2023. Ursprünglich war Newcombe stark von der psychedelischen Phase der Rolling Stones beeinflusst - der Name stammt vom Stones-Gitarristen Brian Jones in Verbindung mit einer Anspielung auf den Sektenführer Jim Jones -, aber in den 2000er Jahren hat sich seine Arbeit in ästhetische Dimensionen ausgeweitet, die sich dem britischen Shoegazing-Genre der 1990er Jahre annähern und Einflüsse aus der Weltmusik, insbesondere aus dem Nahen Osten und Brasilien mit einbezieht. The sublime music of Kaoro Inoue is the subject of this essential new compilation on Mysticisms. Inoue describes himself as an "extreme music lover" and has been for more than 30 years. His Chari Chari alias is all about self-expression and the music here has previously only been available digitally. It fuses ambient, house and techno soundscapes across four sides of vinyl with a deeply spiritual outlook and soul-soothing sound. Organic percussion, traditional instruments and new age moods all colour the deeply enticing grooves.

Robert ‘Hacker’ Jessett and Anne Gilpin, who form the nucleus of Morton Valence, effortlessly take the country music genre, which is generally considered a uniquely American musical form, and create something uniquely English, without ever compromising their authenticity. The atmosphere that BJ Cole brings to the album is palpable, in both production values, and his unmistakable pedal steel guitar performances, on songs such as the plaintive ‘Together Through the Rain’, where an estranged Anne and Hacker reunite under the shelter of an umbrella, walking through the rain and trading verses along the way. Or the more upbeat country rock of ‘I’ve Been Watching You/You’ve Been Watching Me’, which is almost as if Richard and Linda Thompson had touched down in some Nashville backbar before heading for the bright lights. There’s the bewildered small-town homecoming of a wannabe prodigal son in ‘A Town Called Home’. And a conversation with ‘Jim’, a seemingly old-school kind of bloke, with a penchant for midday drinking and late-night city shenanigans. As well as BJ Cole’s steel guitar, there are other collaborations too. ‘Like a Face that’s Been Starved of a Kiss’, co-written with Band of Holy Joy front man, and lyrical visionary Johny Brown. Flamenco guitar genius, Amir John Haddad, sits in on the urban-cowboy ballad, ‘Me & My Old Guitar’, the skewed violin of Dylan Bates brings something of the vaudeville to songs such as ‘It Isn’t Easy Being an Angel’, Guy Jackson adds his sublime keyboards throughout, and the whole thing is held together by unsung rhythm section heroes Jamie Shaw on drums and Josh De Mita on bass. As with all Morton Valence albums, along with the shade, there is always some light, in particular the escapist cosmic romp of ‘It’s a Brand-New Morning’, or the wryly observant, ‘It Isn’t Easy Being an Angel’, where the protagonist discovers that he’s living in some weird kind of purgatory where even the late Johnny Thunders has quit smoking. grappling with the constrictions of gender expressions on dating apps ("How Do
You See Me"), evoking the semi-autobiographical loneliness of Dorothy Allison's
Carolina bastards ("Maureen"), or daring white folks to "get right with their history
of compliance in racial capitalism" ("Loamlands"), Register affirms that
songwriting, at its best, is a gross but necessary confrontation.
Ultimately Register and Meltdown Rodeo (both the newly named band and
album) have achieved in eleven songs something the south has only halfheartedly attempted - undoing generational curses by retiring "bless your heart"
lip service.

This edition contains Buddy Holly's magnificent but lesser known third album,
That'll Be the Day, which was originally released by the Decca label in 1958 and
has been long unavailable on vinyl. The LP contains 11 songs, recorded in 1956
(including the original and slower version of the title track), before Holly signed
with the Brunswick imprint.
In addition to the original masterpiece, this WaxTime collector's item includes 2
bonus tracks recorded by Holly with The Crickets in early 1958: "Take Your Time"
and "Think It Over." Perhaps the most extraordinary aspect of Buddy Holly's work
is that although he died fifty-seven years ago, his records still sound so fresh.

Shamir's art is a synthesis of the full spectrum of human emotion;

On his forthcoming album, Homo Anxietatem, Shamir takes the Latin translation
of the title, "anxious man", and transmutes his anxiety to pop songs. The creation
process serves as a balm or elixir, converting internal anxieties to an 11- track
sonic playground.

Close your eyes and merge into Benedikt Frey’s 'Fastlane'. Imagine sitting in the driver’s seat of a an automobile, one with exceptional horsepower and torque, as you stare out the windshield at the red light, warping in fata-morgana a mile down the road. It’s a straight-away, a black top with two lanes, and against your better judgment you decide to floor the gas. No hesitation in your muscle, your ankle or the ball of your foot, which you now realize is some kind of universal pivot, the first point of contact fusing your body with the will of machine. In this moment you’re in awe that you, a human, an animal, grew from pond scum into something so advanced as to engineer this thing, a mechanical beast capable of overwhelming power and exhilaration. But you also feel a seductive dread, an outside force diverting you from caution toward a dangling carrot of curiosity, asking yourself, ‘How far can I take this thing?’ The dread, now a constant, is numbed, equalized by an adverse intoxicating gratification. You feel both sensations in real time, however, rather than take responsibility for yourself, friends, family and innocent bystanders, you cement your foot to the floor and lean your head back. Noise around you fades to mute. Smell the benzene-scented air, feel the wind on your face, the menacing vibration of the vessel you control beneath you and every grain of asphalt under its tires. This mile has now lasted an eternity and you’ve left your body for some objective view, as if watching climax of a film. Past the point of no return, you embrace abandon and lean into fate. The film becomes slow motion, a crawling pace so mesmerizing you convince yourself of an option to eject yourself from this madness, but as you finally let go of your last morsel of fear, you run the red light head-on into the nucleus of a fantastic glistening sculpture of torn metal, glass, oil, broken dreams and heartache. 'Fastlane' may be just drum machines and synthesizers if you’re timid, but listen harder and know the catastrophic reality of existence, a wreckage so gruesome we dare not rubberneck, but afterall it is our nature to stare.

Remastered with extra tracks - extra disc also includes Sound Sun Pleasure LP. Features the original space nymph cover art, which only appeared in cropped and washedout reproductions on an early 60s version. Cosmic Myth Records is dedicated to issuing remastered and fully authorized out of print titles from Sun Ra's independent Saturn Records catalog. Sun Ra's Jazz in Silhouette was enshrined in the Penguin Jazz Guide's "Core Collection" as an album that "will someday be recognized as one of the most important post-war jazz records." Jazz in Silhouette is the quintessential record of Sun Ra's late 1950s Chicago period. Recorded and issued in 1959, it marks a coda for the bandleader's bebop/hard-bop stage, as his interstellar traveller persona began to transform the band (and the music). It also charts the future, showcasing the brilliant tenor sax stylings of John Gilmore, and introduces the iconic playing of Arkestra mainstays Marshall Allen, Pat Patrick, and Ronnie Boykins. Many of the early works on these recordings would remain staples in Arkestra set lists for the rest of Sun Ra's life. This expanded edition includes the complete, contemporaneous Sound Sun Pleasure, rare stereo mixes, and bonus tracks.

Aber bevor am 18. August das vorliegende Machtwerk Eisbrecher - Es bleibt kalt°! (2003-2023) als 2CD-Digipack, Doppel-Vinyl (eine Platte schwarz, eine weiß) und Digital Audio Longplay erscheint, kommt bereits am 7. Diesen Song gab es bislang nur auf einer speziellen Promo-CD und der US-Version von Sturmfahrt und ist bis dato digital unveröffentlicht. Es ist nicht lupenrein überliefert, ob der Track "Wir sind Gold" ein Resultat der Gold-Verleihung für die Alben Die Hölle muss warten und Schock ist, aber bei Eisbrecher passiert nichts ohne Vision und ohne Augenzwinkern.

Um den Fans den Track, der auf eBay hoch gehandelt wird, endlich zugänglich zu machen wird dieser vorab nicht nur als Single auf den Markt kommen, sondern auch als Lyric-Video auf YouTube zu sehen sein. Damit nicht genug, gibt es mit "Anfang" einen zweiten Song, der digital das Licht der Welt noch nicht erblicken durfte, sondern auf einer längst vergriffenen Metal Hammer-Compilation aus dem Jahr 2021 sein physisches Dasein fristet. Der Status als außergewöhnliches Phänomen der hiesigen Musikszene ist gefestigt. In ihrer dritten Inkarnation schlägt die Berliner Supertruppe Berlin Diskret um Don Lotze, Asphalt Tiger und The Artist Formerly Known As Metal Warrior mit der neuen Frontfrau Elli ein neues Kapitel auf. Asphalt Tiger hat die Hälfte der souverän-schnoddrigen Texte spendiert und als Neuköllner Szenegröße hat Elli zudem ein hinreißend ruppiges Mundwerk, das auf den 14 exzellenten Songs von "Erinnere Dich" ebenso ein lyrisches Highlight nach dem anderen liefert, bei denen nahezu jeder und alles sein Fett wegkriegt. Messerscharfe Gitarrenlicks treffen auf herrlich wummernde Bassläufe, knackige Schießbuden-Action, geil nölige Backingvocals und immer wieder köstlich angerichtete Überraschungen in Form von Synthie, Mundharmonika, Schellenkranz und charmant zweckentfremdeten, nicht ganz unbekannten New Wave Riffs. Verwirrung - das Gefühl, perplex und verwirrt zu sein - ist die Inspiration für das neue Album von Pale Jay. Es ist eine gefühlvolle Erkundung des allmählichen Zerfalls einer Familie aufgrund von jahrelanger Vermeidung und Missverständnissen. Während dieser schwierigen Zeit begann Pale Jay, die Geschichten, mit denen er immer gelebt hatte, zu hinterfragen und seine Identität neu zu untersuchen. Am 29. September 2023 erscheint mit „Portugal“ ein neues Album der Band „Die Zöllner“.


„Mama Unser“ ist die mittlerweile dritte Vorab-Single in Vinyl Version. Das akustische Erlebnis hat eine optische Entsprechung. Der renommierte Maler Jörg Menge konnte für das Artwork der nun vollendeten Vinyl-Trilogie gewonnen werden. Die auf jeweils 300 Stück limitierten Kunstwerke versprechen einen hohen Sammlerwert. Der Text von „Mama Unser“ stammt vom Poeten Henry-Martin Klemt und ist eine intensive Anbetung der weiblichen Göttlichkeit. „Die Zöllner“ kommen außergewöhnlich rauh daher, die Musik des Songs ist in einer Bandsession entstanden.


Der psychedelische Bläsersatz wurde von Trompeter David „Skip Reinhart und Saxophonist Frank Fritsch arrangiert. Auf der B-Seite der Single befindet sich der Titel „Neue Wege“, den Dirk Zöllner mit seinen Kindern Rubini (Sängerin und Musical-Darstellerin) und Egon (The Voice Kids Gewinner 2021) eingesungen hat. Eine deutsche Popnummer mit Hitpotential.

Seit der Gründung 2015 ist bei Movements einiges passiert – der Name ist Programm und somit führt das Post-Hardcore-Quartett seinen Sound auf ihrem dritten Album RUCKUS! einen an expansive und manchmal unerwartete Orte. Das von Will Yip (Circa Survive, Code Orange) produzierte Album vereint Post-Hardcoreund Punk-Einflüsse mit einer gesunden Portion Pop-Songwriting, um ein Album zu erschaffen, das sich über die Konventionen der Szene hinwegsetzt und etwas völlig Einzigartiges schafft. Um dies zu erreichen, begab sich die Band - bestehend aus Sänger Patrick Miranda, Gitarrist Ira George, Schlagzeuger Spencer York und Bassist Austin Cressey - dreimal in das Studio 4 von Yip in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, um die Songs zu schreiben und aufzunehmen, die schließlich zu RUCKUS! wurden. ”Ich glaube wirklich nicht, dass es einen strafferen Prozess hätte geben können, und ich glaube nicht, dass wir jemals Musik geschrieben haben, die so gut ist wie das, was wir für diese Platte zusammengestellt haben”, erklärt Miranda. Vom verzerrten Grind von ”Lead Pipe” über den synkopischen Groove von ”Killing Time” bis hin zum Pop-Glanz von ”Tightrope” - auf RUCKUS! integriert die Band ganz unterschiedliche Einflüsse wie die Gorillaz und die Strokes in ihren Sound, um die Vorurteile der Leute über ihren Sound herauszufordern.
