better have some good stories to tell. Stories that
should move you and stories to make you move.
Stories about real life and surreal life and all that
weirdness that you just glimpsed out of the corner
of your eye. Luckily, audiobooks really do.
The London-based duo have developed a unique
ability to conjure up magical aural snapshots that
wallop you like bong hits.
Each of their discombobulating observations comes
stretched out over a series of discomfiting
oscillations, like messages from the spirit world or
pulp fictions found in a box at the end of your road
or a crackling pop broadcast from a far-away
galaxy.

AAlmost a decade after debuting the event series, audiotheque releases its first EP, including three tracks by various local artists.
The first one, Mike's Jam, comes by Bern's new power duo Frank Spirit. It is a puristic, full analogue house jam, finalized on Mike Huckaby's personal request.
RBMA graduate cclinic joins for A2. Talk Silver is a groovy house track which stands out for its prominent baseline and the inclusion of balearic and nordic elements.
Long-time audiotheque resident DJ Robel rounds out the record. Fasiga is straight and clear, yet impulsive and fun.

This is the debut album by Berlin-based musician and futurist Andre´ Uhl. Crackling noise, moody arpeggios, and haunting melodies tell tales of the hazy past, moving into the twilight of the future. Each of the 13 songs is a dark and cinematic piece on it's own - altogether combined a compelling story, here for the listener to explore.
The album is available digitally and on vinyl in a limited edition of 300 copies, including a booklet of 13 short stories by different writers like the Czech visual artist and poet Katarina Hruskova, Berlin-based subcultural magickian Daniel Jones, and the British novelist Chris Brownsword - each story inspired by one of the 13 songs. Selwa Abd (originally from Morocco, currently residing in Brooklyn) uses the fictional character Bergsonist, from Brooklyn, Slovakia, as her musical guise. Derived from Deleuze's Bergsonism, Bergsonist uses intuition as a method to deliver her/his instinctive psychoanalytic theories.
A blend of different audio sources and samples are used as a way to capture the essence of the 'present' moment, manipulating found sounds along with self-concocted digital fragments to combine in in the span of a set, given time. Bergsonist allows inspiration to come from anywhere, yet she/he limits themselves by the gear/tools that are used. The approach consists of inhaling all the energy of the city - influenced by trips to museums, galleries, shows, talking to people. and sensing nature - and exhaling it sonically. Bergsonist reacts to this energy and inspiration without any specific rules, styles, or genres - extending the array of possibilities by always pushing preconceived uses of the tools.
Following a slew of cassette-only releases from labels across the global map and a split 12" with Isabella on Borft Records last year, Selwa shares her most twisted and considered compositions to date with Mutation. Four fire-stoking tracks of electro convulsions sparked from indecipherable depths inflame new terrains for an artist whose output is inextinguishable - prolific barely covers the rapidity with which Bergsonist shares new jams to a lucky few - proffering Mutation as an indelible moment in Selwa's blossoming career. Mutation features a ripped / thrashed remix from in-the-cut edit wizard, Murray CY. Amidst the lush environs of his northwest roots, Manatee Commune has fermented an organically molded electronic sound that has been teasing the synapses of audiophiles over the last few years. While not a stranger in the Pacific Northwest, Grant Eadie's tracks have grown tentacles that stretch deep into the dance floor, fueled by natural overtones that he extracts from field recordings. Following the head-turning EP 'Thistle' on Brooklyn-based label Bastard Jazz Recordings (Illa J, Lord Echo, & others) from earlier this year, he comes to the label armed with violin arrangements, nuanced programming and pressure-sensitive LED drum breaks peppering the audio-visual experience of his participatory live performances. His debut album Manatee Commune is set for a September 16th release on Bastard Jazz, and displays the elevated confidence and deft touch of a producer truly finding his footing. Already opening for Bonobo, and recently touring with Chad Valley and Blackbird Blackbird, Manatee Commune has been featured on NPR, Stereogum, and Spin, amongst other outlets.
Eadie describes the inspiration behind his approach: "Learning how to share my creative process with my friends completely revolutionized the last of year of music for me. Inviting those I trusted and loved into my studio to spend even just an hour talking or jamming opened fountains of inventive energy for me, especially from the ones who lacked any musical knowledge. I soon found myself incredibly inspired by the originality of even the smallest interactions with people, and so I pointed my field mic at anyone who had a story, a melody, or a stumbling beat they had been absentmindedly drumming, all in the hopes of capturing their individuality and framing it with my ever expanding insight into audio production."
Reimagining his musical approach by opening his studio and microphone to friends, collaborators and loved ones, Eadie was able to release fountains of inventive energy from these deeply personal interactions, inspired by anybody who had a story, a melody or a stumbling beat to share. The Organ Grinder, AKA Cayne Ramos, got it right first time. His first solo release 'Obsession/New Age People' was brought out on Cardiff's Catapult Records and gained him huge kudos points with an international DJ fraternity, gaining support from Move D, Ryan Elliot, Steffi and Jackmaster.
He got it equally right with his second release, the anthemic 'I Don't Love You', also on Catapult which featured the vocal talent of Jessy Allen. These releases put The Organ Grinder under the spotlight and he was soon invited to play his career highlight gig at Berlin's famous Panorama Bar. from there releases followed. A collaboration, with Chesus of Darkhouse Family and CRST fame, entitled Audio Porn on Addison Groove's newly Lost In Translation label. In 2012 The Organ Grinder caught the ears of Gerd and very soon came Enoonmai! on 4Lux supported by Laurent Garnier, Sebo k,Ben Westbeech,Boddika and Ryan Elliot.
In 2013 the Grinder kept on grinding with another CRST collaborative release, titled Monster Munch on the infamous Local Talk, and then with his second 4lux release "The Dancing Angel" getting him widespread support from just about everyone in the house scene, Kenny Dope of Masters of Work, Dennis Ferrer, Kerri Chandler, Steve Bug, Xpress 2, Dusky, Eats Everything, plus many more.
The production is one side of The Organ Grinder, he also makes us dance to his tunes, and he has played alongside an incredible international roster of artists to date including Darius Syrossian, Martinez Brothers, Phil Weeks, Huxley, DJ Wild, Steve Lawler and Kerri Chandler. During the summer of 2013 The Organ Grinder spent his summer in Ibiza playing at Kehakuma alongside Edu Imbernon, Steve Bug, Ryan Crosson, Robert James, Brawther and Gerd.
! Irreal, the fth long player from Chicago's Disappears, is another trip down the rabbit hole. The album plays out as a dream sequence - hazed dub landscapes give way to the group's most experimental and open music yet.
If their last album Era conrmed the fact that Disappears are on their own trip, then Irreal is where it kicks in. Eternalism, roboethics, identity - it's a Ballardian mix of imperfect melodies, half thoughts and good ol' dystopian modernity. It's a master class in texture, pace and control.
Produced by John Congleton at famed Chicago recording institution Electrical Audio, Irreal sits in the negative space where art rock and post punk collapse onto each other. It's the sound of Disappears reporting back from The Void.
