Composed of the techno heavy weight Obscure Shape (formerly known as part of Shdw & Obscure Shape) and classically trained musician Conrad, BERG AUDIO is proud to welcome the duo’s exciting new project, URBAN CC. Focused on the raw side of house & dub techno, the pair’s debut release is already supported by some of the industry’s key players, setting an incredibly high standard for both their future productions as well as live performances that they have been working on during the past two years. URBAN CC’s “The Introduction” also gives the label a chance to showcase a wider array of genres, by releasing its first drum and bass output, something the well-regarded imprint has been planning to do for a long time, and is eager to keep on doing. In 2016, the Norwegian pianist and composer Espen Berg was commissioned to write for the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. With the opportunity to hand-pick a line-up consisting of 14 of Scandinavia’s most creative and prolific jazz artists, Espen grasped this opportunity with both hands and a mind bursting with ideas. MAETRIX premiered at Molde Int’l Jazz Festival in 2017 to a standing ovation, making the audience shake their head in awe. However, MAETRIX isn’t just an impressive feat, it’s also incredibly beautiful music.

With MAETRIX, Espen has solidified his call to explore a kind of music where complex rhythms are paired with strong, heartfelt melodies. The name itself combines the 1999 blockbuster movie title The Matrix, with metrics. Similar to the movie, the listener can choose which reality to listen to, either intellectually by diving into the mechanical and the conceptual, or emotionally by getting carried away by the melodies and the music as a whole.

The Trondheim Jazz Orchestra demonstrates yet again to inherit a flexibility and agility more commonly associated with smaller bands. Every musician add their personal rendition to the scores, transcending the music and make it come alive. MAETRIX has been performed at seven festivals and venues in Norway and Sweden, and it was recorded in Rainbow Studio, Oslo in May 2021 by Martin Abrahamsen. For Espen it has been a defining project, and many of the songs have lived on in his trio. It also laid the groundwork for Water Fabric, which was released in November 2023. As an «about time»-moment, MAETRIX will finally be available on Odin Records on Aug 30.

In response to the demand of the label’s community, four tracks from Dan Goul’s “Paraglider” debut album, released back in May 2024, will be pressed on our beloved vinyl format. The release includes the Melbourne based artist’s most requested track to date, “Paraglider” – LIMITED COPIES !

BERG AUDIO is happy to welcome back one of our favorite producers, Havantepe. In the past few years, the Turkish artist’s output has become rare, greatly increasing our excitement to finally share these masterfully crafted pieces on the label. The release includes a superb collaboration with Christopher Ledger, and a remix from one of Romania’s key artists, Cristi Cons – Artwork by Juli Jah.

The album was recorded under immense pressure. With only three days left
before Norway went into a lockdown, the trio headed to the studio and finished
the album in an intense session. Remarkably, the tone of these nine new originals
is hopeful and upbeat. If previous Oddgeir Berg Trio albums made you think of
ECM, the new one carves out a more personal sound.
Berg remembers the process as one of careful touches: "To me, it feels like an
evolving landscape. I have quite a few synths and effect pedals in my locker, but I
try not to overdo things." In conceptual terms, this is where the circle closes - now,
you can put on 'Before Dawn' and simply continue listening.

Raphael Sas hat ein neues Album aufgenommen. Am titelgebenden Roten Berg im Südwesten Wiens ist er aufgewachsen. Von dort folgen wir ihm, hinaus aus der Vorstadt, denn: Die Welt ist groß und das Leben schön. Die rohe Intimität des Vorgängers Nackerte Lieder ist einem aufgeknöpften, opulenten Pop-Appeal gewichen: elaboriertes Songwriting, geschliffene Sprache mit dezentem Wiener Zungenschlag, eine Band am Punkt und von Produzent Paul Gallister (Wanda) herrlich in Szene gesetzte, vor schönen Ideen sprühende Arrangements.

Lazy Jones und Hazenberg sind zurück auch wenn sie für 99% der Deutschrap Fans nie da waren. Nach „Unter einem Berg“ (2021) erscheint mit „Über einem Berg“ demnächst das zweite Album des Producer/MC-Duos aus Köln. Für Fans von Retrogott, Twit One und Kapitalismuskritik die swingt. Silo EP is a strong piece of work from Berg Jaar for Planet Rhythm. Jaar is known for producing powerful & outgoing techno with an exotic touch to it. This 4-track pack covers a lot of ground and should be an excellent choice for lovers of Techno with a more artful approach.

First split on ROÖM record, a bipolar EP between Berg Jaär & Breekbaär. Raw packaging, no bullshit description... Let the music do the speaking.
