This murder three track 12" is the next installment in our ongoing Park Heights series. The Heptones "Get Up & Chant" is a certified roots anthem, FINALLY retrieved from album duty and now on a nice fat single for the first time, heavy anthemic roots with a killer mix and lashing reverb. Following this is another total gem formerly hidden away exclusively on an old Park Heights compilation - Bobby Floyd's "Need to Belong", a beautiful soulful roots tune with harmonies by the Heptones. On the flip side we have a total killer previously unreleased Stranger Cole roots tune from the early 80s, in extended discomix style.

The Song “Hard, Hard Promises” showcased on this latest Soul Direction release, showcases Bobby Hebb’s song writing talents and brings together the album only release performed by
Alice Clark and the Unreleased demo version sung by Bobby Hebb himself. Incidentally the studio dub was entitled “Hard Heart Promises”. We don’t know if he ever intended to release the song himself, but it showcases his talent as a songwriter and a singer. After a few conversations with Universal Licensing, they graciously allowed Soul Direction to release this version and with the consent of Bobby Hebb’s Publishing Company. Die Musik von Bobby Krlic (aka The Haxan Cloak) und Daniel Pemberton für den Film Eddington auf rot-blauem Split-Vinyl. Mit Original-Artwork von Matt McCormick. Kommt mit einem ,Keep Honking"-Autoaufkleber. Eddington ist eine schwarze Komödie und ein moderner Horror-Western von Ari Aster. Der Film mit Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Austin Butler und Joaquin Phoenix in den Hauptrollen spielt in einer Kleinstadt in New Mexico während der Corona-Pandemie. Der Film feierte im Mai 2025 bei den Internationalen Filmfestspielen in Cannes seine Premiere und wurde dort für die Goldene Palme nominiert und kam im Juli 2025 in die US-amerikanischen und im November 2025 in die deutschen Kinos.

In den 1970er Jahren unternahm der experimentierfreudige Vibrafonist und Marimba-Spieler Bobby Hutcherson bei Blue Note einige Ausflüge in kommerziellere Gefilde. Ein absoluter Höhepunkt dieser Schaffensphase war das 1975 entstandene Album “Montara”. Angetrieben von einer exzellent besetzten Band mit

Bobby. returns to his own label Pleasure Club with his most refined work to date, an EP entitled “Before We Look Out, Let’s Look In”.

The fabric resident presents his fifth full release, this time traversing the full spectrum of surrealist house, techno & electro; the kind which has become synonymous with his journey style DJ sets. As the title suggests this record transmits a deeply introspective and personal take on modern day club music.

Melody, emotion and drama stay present throughout, with plenty of twists and turns along the way. With glimmers of early 00’s minimal, cosmic synthwave-style EBM and razor sharp electro, it is a record which references the past, but presents it updated and ready for dance floors of the future.

With a debut album in the works for the end of the year, this release acts as an exciting precursor and marks a new chapter in the artists career.

Bekannt wurde Conn in den 1990er-Jahren als Teil der No-Wave- und Performance-Szene Chicagos, wo er mit einer Mischung aus Glam, Funk, Satire und politischem Theater schnell Kultstatus erlangte. Seine Alben erschienen u.a. bei Thrill Jockey, seine Liveshows sind legendär - überbordend, ironisch, unbequem. Bobby"s Place ist ein Album mit doppeltem Boden: Side A entführt in eine psychedelische Klangwelt aus Synthesizern, Holzbläsern und Handtrommeln - ein astrales Zelt, in dem Bobby Conn zwischen Realität und Traum driftet. Side One hingegen ist der Soundtrack zu einer fiktiven Sitcom, in der Bobby in jeder Folge ein neues Business gründet - und scheitert. Die Musik dazu: sechs straffe, energiegeladene Glam-Rock-Stücke mit Biss und Humor. "Ich wollte ein Album machen, das sich wie Fernsehen anfühlt - aber mit der Emotionalität eines Traums", sagt Conn selbst.
