Non-sensical, un-user friendly, at times half finished. Camper Van Beethoven"s second album II & III saw the folk-punk of the band"s debut LP morphing into an even wider melting pot of stylistic influences and (un)ironic contradictions, all rolled up into a coherently incoherent collection of some of the band"s most defining songs. Originally released in 1986, the follow up to Telephone Free Landslide Victory did much to develop an already iconoclastic Camper Van Beethoven idiom. II & III ranges from alt-country ballads ("Sad Lovers" Waltz") to call-backs to the European folk instrumentals of the debut ("No Krugerrands For David", "4 Year Plan"). Also featured is the band"s bluegrass-Americana take on Sonic Youth"s "I Love Her All the Time", feeding their appetite for cover songs. This deluxe double CD set brings together the original II & III album with a 17 track live album of material from Camper Van Beethoven shows supporting REM on their Life"s Rich Pageant tour. This audio was mostly recorded at the Lincoln, Nebraska show from October 10th, 1986, but is supplemented with audio from other shows of the tour. The Teal Vinyl re-issue features a newly revisited collage version of the artwork, plus a reproduced 11"x11" insert, designed by Victor Krummenacher using original photos, lithograph prints, lyrics and leaflets.

Conceived as the diary of a chemical wreck, Dissociate drifts somewhere between the intelligence of an A Tribe Called Quest track and a YouTubecollage. Recorded by Paul Rannaud (Fat White Family, Insecure Men)and mixed by Maxime Maurel (Departure Kids,Ventre de Biche), this debut track kicks off a series of concerts and showcases ahead of the release of a first album, "Eau de Low", due in spring 2026. A few years ago I issued the soundtrack to Virgin Witch, the score to an underground 1971
kinky British London / posh stately home horror that seemed more like an excuse to show as
many racy cars and devilish nude scenes as possible. This fleapit film was written by Hazel
Adair - the writer of legendary long-running TV series Crossroads, and her business partner at
the time Ken Walton (yes, the wrestling commentator). Virgin Witch was cheap and successful
enough to allow the whole team another go at the sexploitation game through their newly
formed production company Pyramid Films. Sex Clinic was the quick follow up; I say Sex Clinic,
the initial cinematic title was Clinic Xclusive, which was also called With These Hands, which
was also called La Masseuse Perverse. This film also came out in 1971 and they used the
musical services of Ted Dicks once again. Dicks had originally met Adair in 1960 through a cast
member performing in his first musical, Look Who’s Here.

If you are not aware of the great Ted Dicks, his quick bio reads as follows: born London 1928,
was educated through both grammar and art school and after National Service flirted with both
art and music. He worked with a series of very talented song writers - including Barry Cryer -
finally sparking properly with writer Myles Rudge. Together “Dicks and Rudge” had a hit with
their musical And Another Thing which starred Lionel Blair and Bernard Cribbins. Their talents
were spotted by producer George Martin and they followed this show success up with a series
of truly classic novelty pop chart hits, again with Cribbins - “Hole In The Ground” and “Right Said
Fred”. If you are not aware of the classic A Combination Of Cribbins LP they wrote, go and find
it. It includes “Gossip Calypso”, a triumph of novelty song writing that somehow manages to
squeeze in the lyric “Oxy-aceteline welder”, and is possibly the only song ever to do so. They
wrote further hits (winning an Ivor Novello for “A Windmill In Old Amsterdam”) and were in
constant demand throughout the 1960s and 1970s, working with artists such as Petula Clark,
Matt Munro, Bruce Forsyth, Topol and Kenneth Williams.

By the late 1960s Ted had also penned a handful of instrumental library cues including the
classic “Busy Boy” for the Standard Library company that got picked up as the theme for the
brilliant TV kids fantasy show Catweazle in 1970. It’s a light, kooky, hummable tune that lodged
its way deep in the mind of any child under 12 over the following decade.

When I first got the reels for Sex Clinic I’m not sure what I was sonically expecting - much of
Dicks’ music blends musical hall with jazz and some brilliant novelty - and maybe I was also
imagining a different kind of film to the one that was actually made. Turns out Sex Clinic is more
like a sleazy drama than an erotic adventure - I’ve read reviews that call it “nothing more than a
naked Crossroads”. Even knowing this I had no idea what the music was going to sound like. So
I was thrilled when it was almost the musical opposite of what I imagined. We have here a great,
easy jazz score. Not a proggy, wild or free jazz score, this is lightish, vibes-led, bluesy and really
charming, which gets slightly more lively when the naked pool party sequence kicks off, and
drifts effortlessly into more seductive midnight moods as and when required. And having now
seen the film, musically it’s unusually at odds with the on screen nudity, blackmail and revenge.

But like most of Ted’s work, the music sticks in your mind. Unlike the film. Which I suggest you
try and avoid unless you like watching plump randy middle aged men with terrible hair pursue
women half their age.

He has worked with The Psychedelic Furs, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Cyndi Lauper, R.E.M., Depeche Mode, Grace Jones, and Dave Gahan, among others. After a decade in Berlin, where he developed his layered guitar technique called Soundribbons, he returned to the U.S. and settled on the Connecticut shoreline.
ANNA HOMLER, is a vocal, visual and performance artist based in Los Angeles. She has performed and exhibited her work in venues around the world. With a sensibility that is both ancient and postmodern, Homler sings in an improvised melodic language. Her work explores alternative means of communication and the poetics of ordinary things.
Anna is accompanied by: Jeff Schwartz, a very active Los Angeles-based improvised and experimental double bassist. He leads the Present Quartet, Intangible, and the Soapbox; performs with a variety of ensembles and orchestras; and has written books on music for SUNY Press and Routledge.
David Javelosa a composer, producer, recording artist and technologist based in Mar Vista California. Performing on modular, electronic instruments, he has created soundtracks for many of the major game platforms, and most recently has been performing with Microwave Buddha, a retrospective of his synth pop work in the 1980's.

A unique collaboration between Industrial Breakbeat pioneers Meat Beat Manifesto (Jack Dangers) and the undisputed king of Japanese noise, Merzbow (Masami Akita). "We may not speak the same language, but in the vortex of sound, there's a raw, primal understanding that transcends words. Noise can be art, a visual representation could maybe be Jackson Pollock's No 5, a plexus of chaos redefining what music can and could be. Pushing boundaries with Masami wasn't just a musical adventure, it was a masterclass in sonic anarchy"
(Jack Dangers, January 2024). 'Extinct' sees the duo take listeners on a transcendental journey, focusing on the dismantling of beat and structure and recycling the result through layers of beautifully crafted noise and feedback loops, giving birth to new rhythms buried deep in the dirt. The 20 minute opener 'FLAKKA' takes constantly evolving breakbeats which are gradually broken down over time, driven through a filter of harsh noise, destroying the old to give birth to the new. Raw and unforgiving, the track is a behemoth that blends mutant forms of broken beats and hints of dub, creating rhythmic noise of the highest calibre in the process. 'Burner' takes the record to its ultimate conclusion, the initial drum beat broken down so that it is barely recognisable. Pulsating distortion and high end audio fragments bleed into each other as the track lumbers forth and destroys everything in its path before slowly unravelling, degrading and falling apart. A harrowing yet somewhat cathartic trip through walls of harsh industrial noise and audio degradation, 'Extinct' is a masterful pairing of artists who have delivered something truly unique yet totally relevant. There are three types of drummers: Those that can count, and those that… can’t.

Ok, but looking past the punchline, it turns out that there is, in fact, a third type: Drummers who can count, and pretty well too, but still struggle with triple rhythms. Amongst those who have ascended the heights of triple rhythm perfection you will certainly find, Piotr Gwader. One of the leaders of the movement, we could call an “Oberek Revival. He even proposed a new form: Footberk - splicing of Polish Folk dance and Chicago Footwork. He performed live with the OG of Footwork - RP Boo (Arpebu), but equally, he could successfully form a footberk duo with Jacek Prościnski, another protagonist from “Portraits 3”. Prościnski has been deeply immersed in the world of electronic dance music for years and offers us yet more proof of those interests here.

Triplets are also no stranger to Ola Rzepca (synonymous with the Drekoty Trio), in whose music there is no shortage of rhythmical complications and tempo changes. The same can be said of the improv-friendly contemporary jazz presented by Patrycja Wybrańczyk. These two Polish drummers show how versatile this discipline is on the Polish jazz scene. These qualities have already been well documented by Marcin „Groh” Grośkiewicz, but never so strongly as here.

Szymon „Pimpon” Gąsiorek is a musician who has made unconventionality the foundation of his individual style. Yet even in the piece by Jan Pieniążek (a dynamic and equally versatile drummer), we find an element of surprise in its melancholic atmosphere and construction, which introduces a triple rhythm while pushing the drum parts into the background. Portraits, on the other hand, does the complete opposite with its protagonists - it positions them in the foreground as the creators of specially commissioned original works. From this perspective, perhaps the most familiar names here may be Emade and Albert Karch, who are known as outstanding music producers and among the most interesting in Poland. “Portraits III” has presumably given them a momentary break from producing other artists, while for the music industry, it’s also a pleasant break in the rhythm and a shift of emphasis."

Having already toured the UK/EU supporting the likes of Gregory Porter, Jools Holland and The Teskey Brothers, alongside selling out multiple headline shows in the UK and EU (Ronnie Scotts in London, Unterfhart Jazz Club in Munich and Jassmine in Warsaw among others), she's also co-written with the likes of Caro Emerald, Ruby Turner and Roberta Campos, and broken through to new territories via national radio play-listing in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and Italy, as well as having strong radio support from BBC Radio 2, 6 and Jazz FM. Kat's third album 'What Happens Now' is a collection of timeless yet contemporary beautifully crafted songs with lyrics that cut to the core. Inspired by artists such as Emily King, Lake Street Dive and Raye, alongside legends Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Carole King that Kat grew up listening to, 'What Happens Now' is an amalgamation of her influences underpinned by her inimitable tone.

Get Over it, Underdog is an 11 song collection about the duality of the American underdog. The characters within these tunes are exotic dancers, cringe white guys, historic world explorers, ultra wealthy people playing God, baby Jesus, eccentric women who have done life their own way, and dreamers. The album is a rich tapestry that weaves together all of these tales into one enchanting piece. Through the lyrics in these songs we learn how the underdog character can embody any of the best and/or worst characteristics of humanity. The underdog may be a noble hero or an evil villain either of whom is able to pull off surprising or unexpected victories which good or bad in nature can often times lead to an underdog's ultimate downfall. Each song takes an honest look at what it means to be some kind of underdog all coming from a songwriter who has been called an underdog by others and who has at times identified himself in this way only to realize that in the end, every human being contains multitudes beyond the limited capacity we have to observe and truly know ourselves and each other.

David Bazan was, for many years, the songwriter and driving force behind the acclaimed indie band Pedro the Lion, building a dedicated following and selling a couple hundred-thousand albums based in large part on his extraordinary melodic sense and erudite, theologically-themed songs. After a decade helming the project,he found himself embroiled in a major personal philosophical and spiritual cataclysm, wrapped in a growing drinking problem. Bazan got to work exorcizing both his demons and angels, ditching the Pedro moniker in favor of his given name and producing two incredible pieces of work in the Fewer Moving Parts EP and the 2009 full-length Curse Your Branches (Barsuk). Branches is considered by many to be a legitimate masterpiece. Charting Bazan's increasingly skeptical struggle with the precepts of the evangelical Christian world in which he was raised, the album covers some pretty serious ground. NPR called it "an album of great music and great humanity." Strange Negotiations focuses Bazan's energies toward the external, centering on his disappointment in the current state of accelerating American and global social fragmentation. Musically, most of Strange Negotiations sounds like a great rock band playing songs theyre beyond intimate with. Its the first full-length he's recorded with a band, the same band with which he toured relentlessly in support of Curse Your Branches.

Rooted in the experiments of electronic music pioneers, industrial culture and ethnic music from around the globe while responding to the house and techno explosion, Robbert Heynen, Reinier Brekelmans, Reinoud van den Broek and Tim Freeman's freewheeling masterpiece takes in lush electronica and murky abstraction on its singular voyage through parts unknown.

Forever Records presents an extensive reissue edition of the first 'fully released' Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia album. Originally released in 1992, this is the first time the full, previously CD-only, version of Ov Biospheres and Sacred Grooves will be pressed on vinyl. The original LP and CD artwork from the various editions released in the early 90s has been combined and designed by the band, and the audio has been remastered with their full approval. As well as a new LP edition of the album, there will also be a uniquely numbered, limited edition available housed in a gatefold sleeve that comes with a bonus 10" featuring two previously unreleased tracks.

Nach den jazzigen Library-Klängen der 2023 erschienenen gemeinsamen LP ,Dolphin" mit Greg Foat und Moses Boyd kehrt der venezianische Maestro Gigi Masin zu dem Ambient-Sound zurück, für den er bekannt ist - mit ,Movement", seinem ersten Solo- Album seit ,Calypso" aus dem Jahr 2020 und seinem Debüt bei Sacred Bones Records. Angetrieben von kreativer Neuerfindung und rhythmischer Bewegung bewegt er sich nahtlos zwischen melancholischen MIDI-Klängen, technoider Robotik, groovigen, liminalen Wolkenlandschaften und meeres tiefem Ambient. Noch tiefer in die exzentrischen Beats taucht der himmlische Techno-Funk von ,Deception Dance" ein, der klingt, als würden Sun Electric mit Carl Craig und Kraftwerk jammen. Das strahlende Licht von ,Golden" strahlt Wärme aus und klingt wie der Bossa-Nova-Bruder von Göttschings Balearic- Klassiker E2 E4. Trotz des Todes seiner Frau nach langer Krankheit und des Verlusts seines musikalischen Archivs durch eine Überschwemmung bleibt Gigi im Herzen rein und positiv und legt seine ganze Seele in das Streben nach Schönheit. Nach den jazzigen Library-Klängen der 2023 erschienenen gemeinsamen LP ,Dolphin" mit Greg Foat und Moses Boyd kehrt der venezianische Maestro Gigi Masin zu dem Ambient-Sound zurück, für den er bekannt ist - mit ,Movement", seinem ersten Solo- Album seit ,Calypso" aus dem Jahr 2020 und seinem Debüt bei Sacred Bones Records. Angetrieben von kreativer Neuerfindung und rhythmischer Bewegung bewegt er sich nahtlos zwischen melancholischen MIDI-Klängen, technoider Robotik, groovigen, liminalen Wolkenlandschaften und meeres tiefem Ambient. Seit seinen frühen Anfängen in der Anonymität baute sein Debütalbum ,Wind" aus dem Jahr 1986 langsam eine organische Anhängerschaft im Late-Night-Radio auf, die später noch verstärkt wurde, als ,Clouds" von Künstlern wie Björk, Post Malone und anderen gesampelt wurde. Zu seinen Fans zählen heute Oneohtrix Point Never, Devendra Banhart, Caroline Polachek und der verstorbene Kenny Wheeler. Das neue Album ,Movement" reflektiert Masins Stellung im Pantheon der Ambient-Meister, seine anhaltenden künstlerischen Ambitionen und seine Bestrebungen für eine Szene, deren exponentielles Wachstum er seit ihren bescheidenen Anfängen miterlebt hat. Die LP ist zudem eine Ode an die wörtliche Bewegung, sowohl in der Natur als auch in den körperlichen Ausdrucksformen des Menschen gegenüber dem Klang. Masin strebte danach, Ambient-Musik für Bewegung zu schaffen, nicht im üblichen Sinne von Tanzmusik, sondern ,dynamische Musik, mit einem schlagenden Herzen voller Liebe". Indem er die Assoziation von Ambient mit einsamen Hörerlebnissen und kühler Akademik auflöste, wandte sich Gigi nach außen und kanalisierte etwas Somatisches, das sich mit dem Körper verbindet, nicht nur mit dem Geist. ,Bed on Mars" gibt den titelgebenden Ton für Masins neu entfachte Neugier an, mit kosmischen Atmosphären, die das Gefühl hervorrufen, auf einem neuen Planeten ohne Furcht zu erwachen, während die ergreifende synthetische Trompete und der schwebende liminale Schwebezustand von ,Lost" sich anfühlen, als würde man in einem unbekannten Meer treiben. Noch tiefer in die exzentrischen Beats taucht der himmlische Techno-Funk von ,Deception Dance" ein, der klingt, als würden Sun Electric mit Carl Craig und Kraftwerk jammen. Das strahlende Licht von ,Golden" strahlt Wärme aus und klingt wie der Bossa-Nova-Bruder von Göttschings Balearic- Klassiker E2 E4. Trotz des Todes seiner Frau nach langer Krankheit und des Verlusts seines musikalischen Archivs durch eine Überschwemmung bleibt Gigi im Herzen rein und positiv und legt seine ganze Seele in das Streben nach Schönheit. In the year 2000, Brother Ali Joined Rhymesayers with a self-produced demo called Rites of Passage. Three years later Ali took the underground by storm with an undeniable stage presence and his critically acclaimed debut full-length Shadows On The Sun. The impact was unquestionable and that next year Ali solidified his place amongst the independent Hip Hop elite with the release of 2004's The Champion EP. Like deja vu, here we are three years later and Ali is ready to take the world by storm with his latest creation. After struggling through a series of personal roadblocks, from parting ways with his wife of 10 years, becoming homeless and trying to secure custody of his only son... Brother Ali along with Atmosphere producer and Shadows & Champion collaborator Ant, present the long awaited sophomore full-length album The Undisputed Truth. Personal, political and more powerful than ever, simply put, the truth is here. "I wanted to make an album that gives you no choice but to feel what im saying at that given time", Ali explains of The Undisputed Truth. Forged from the fire of internal struggles, Loraine James was wrestling with confidence and a desire for change when she embarked on “Detached From The Rest Of You”. A guiding hand came through producing 2025's “Clandestine” EP with singer Anysia Kym, which gave her the experience of a more 'pop' setting and the tools and insight to work her instrumentals into more conventional shapes; a shift from club driven sounds and winding instrumentals into more precise song forms.


Loraine’s production is stripped to the bone, soundscapes of clicks and glitches inspired by Aoki Takamasa, Ryoji Ikeda, and the early-00s Clicks & Cuts school. Here, often with not much more than sparse keyboard chords to fill in with subtle colouring, she uses the space around the sounds and vocals to draw the listener in to a succinct and direct album, her most confident yet.


Guest contributors include vocalist Sydney Spann on “In a Rut”, Alan Sparkhawk (Low) on downcast anthem “Peak Again”, Miho Hatori (Cibo Matto) on “Flatline”, Anysia Kim on “Score”, and Tirzah on “Habits and Patterns”. Finally her old spar, the rapper Le3 bLACK returns to spit fire with the jazz-indebted track “Ending Us All” with Fyn Dobson backing on tumbling drums.

“Dressed In Black” was curated and annotated by Cathi Unsworth, author of the book Season Of The Witch: The Book of Goth – a woman who considers herself fortunate to have had Siouxsie Sioux, Lydia Lunch and Diamanda Galàs for role models while she was growing up. “The music gathered here is an aural manifestation of turbulent times, made by women possessed of supernatural abilities. The music I fell in love with emerged from the dark end of the 1970s: The Winter of Discontent of 1978-79, when intractable industrial action left the dead unburied and mountains of rubbish in the streets. All the promise of punk came to a brutal end with the deaths of Sid and Nancy in New York; IRA bombs exploded in central London and a seemingly uncatchable ripper roamed West Yorkshire with 13 murders under his belt. Ill omens that augured badly for the events of 3 May 1979, when Margaret Thatcher became our first woman prime minister. Dressed in blue and ready to whip the country to her heel.

“But at night, malcontent youth were united by forces of opposition, whose dissenting voices were aired across the land on John Peel’s Radio 1 show, set to the sound of slasher guitars, swirling fairground keyboards, loping basslines and percussion that recalled the echo of jackhammers or the march of insect feet. Here, punk’s unruly offspring distilled the dissonance of the times into a new kind of music. Flirting with the fetishist and taboo, drawing upon horror and science fiction imagery, they were the outlaw leaders of the greatest style tribe of the decade: the goths. Dressed in black, these kohl-eyed women voiced the alienation of their generation during the decade of the Cold War, the Miners’ Strike, privatisation and AIDS.

“To make sense of the absurd is genius enough. But to then cast the glamour of sublime music around those insights – I come back to my point about supernatural abilities. I hope you will find illumination within. You know the dress code.”

Music From Memory presents 'Spacious Heart', the debut solo album from Los Angeles-based musician Anthony Calonico. Known for his work as part of the trio Total Blue, Calonico steps forward here with a collection of songs and instrumentals that invite the listener into his lush, expansive yet intimate world.

Written and recorded gradually between 2020 and 2024, 'Spacious Heart' emerged through a slow and open process, allowing the music to develop without rigid expectations. The album’s sonic landscape sits in a somewhat similar zone to Total Blue, with warm keys, synthesizers and rich production creating spacious environments where melodies and textures unfold naturally. Drawing together influences that move fluidly between spiritual jazz, synthesizer-driven explorations and ambient textures, the record balances harmonic richness with a gentle sense of openness. Where it diverges from Total Blue is through the presence of Calonico’s voice, the emotional anchor of the record. Smooth, luminous and quietly expressive, his singing carries a sense of earnestness and vulnerability while remaining delicately restrained.

‘Spacious Heart’ unfolds as a gentle conversation between song and atmosphere, where vocal pieces drift in and out of focus, intimate and reflective. The surrounding instrumentals open up space for these emotions to breathe, settle and expand, creating a quiet, reflective world where feeling, texture and restraint move softly together.
