CHRIS STASSY and Interplanetary Criminal now bring their first recorded meeting to Up The Stuss with ‘Dangerous’, a four-track EP that sees two artists with unmistakable identities find common ground somewhere between house, garage, breaks and pure dancefloor energy. With the sounds of this collaboration having quietly made their way into the world long before the full picture was revealed, its arrival feels like the moment the pieces finally fall into place.
Across the EP, the chemistry is immediate. The first of these is the album’s focus track, THE DAYZ, featuring the spoken words of Jude Moore who hits the proverbial nail on the head with his nostalgic look back at life growing up in the UK around the turn of the millennium. It’s no surprise that he has a massive 670k TikTok followers as his words speak profoundly to an entire generation. With talk of house parties and care-free fun layered over space-disco synths, THE DAYZ exudes a nostalgic vibe before skilfully blending it with punchy drums and a chunky bassline bringing it straight to the here and now. Beim Anhören der endgültigen Fassung dachte Ligon an ,Quiet Storm", das Radioformat der 1970er Jahre, das für seine sanfte Late-Night-Programmgestaltung mit Themen rund um Leben und Liebe bekannt war. ,Quiet Storm" führt den Hörer durch verschiedene Szenen, Zwischenspiele und Handlungsbögen, geprägt von dem Gefühl, dass seine Bewegung fließend und seine Figuren flüchtig sind. Monologe vor dem Spiegel setzen sich mit dem Existentiellen und dem Unmittelbaren auseinander: Überleben, Autonomie, Sinn. Das Album beginnt mit dem explosiven, von Streichern begleiteten ,Vanity", bei dem die Grammy-Preisträgerin Axelle Fanyo zu hören ist. Zunächst auf die Spalten eines stillen Raumes fixiert, entfaltet sich ,Vanity" unter Fanyos ausdrucksstarkem Sopran und durchläuft ein breites emotionales Spektrum von erhabener Kontemplation bis hin zu ergreifendem, herzzerreißendem Schmerz. Auf dem gesamten Album werden gesprochene und gesungene Worte sparsam eingesetzt, um eine kraftvolle Wirkung zu erzielen. Das Druckventil öffnet sich, als die phasenverschobenen Drums und die scharf beobachtenden, dialogartigen Phrasen abrupt nach der Zeile ,I wonder if that's what heaven's like?" abbrechen. Wir bleiben in der Behaglichkeit des Album-Closers ,Regards" zurück. Das letzte der ,All-Home-Recordings-Alben" von THE MOUNTAIN GOATS und das einzige, auf das diese Behauptung wirklich zutrifft: ,All Hail West Texas" wurde ursprünglich als eigenständige CD beim inzwischen leider nicht mehr existierenden Label Emperor Jones veröffentlicht. Das ist etwa ein Jahrzehnt her. Die Songs wurden ursprünglich von den Kassetten, auf denen sie aufgenommen worden waren, bei Tiny Telephone von Alex Newport - der auch bei Fudge Tunnel spielte - auf 1/2-Zoll-Spulen übertragen. John war total begeistert, als ihm klar wurde, dass seine Bänder von dem Typen von Fudge Tunnel abgemischt wurden. Remastered von diesen Bändern, zusammen mit sieben wiederentdeckten Songs von den beiden erhaltenen Kassetten aus jener Zeit, gilt ,All Hail West Texas" als Höhepunkt der Heimstudio-Ära der Mountain Goats - einer Zeit, die man gerne als ,die Zeit, als John Darnielle seinen Vierspur-Recorder hatte" bezeichnet, obwohl John eigentlich gar keinen Vierspur-Recorder benutzt hat. Er benutzte das Kondensatormikrofon einer Panasonic-Boombox, und es gab keine Overdubs.
,Silver Nugget Vinyl Color". Ein gedämpfter Schrei in die technologische Dunkelheit: ,Contemporary Movement" schlich sich in die Welt, gerade als sich das MP3 aus den Studentenwohnheimen ausbreitete. Eine 39-minütige Reise ins Leere, getränkt in Hall aus der Zeit des Kalten Krieges und zur Abrundung noch in Vier-Spur-Rauschen getaucht. Duster schuf ein brutalistisches Meisterwerk am Rande eines Vorort-Einkaufszentrums, als wolle er sagen: ,Wir waren hier." Diese nummerierte Ausgabe zum 25-jährigen Jubiläum ist auf 180-Gramm-Vinyl gepresst und enthält ein Textblatt sowie ein Poster.
Am 1. März 2025 begeisterte Kim Deal das restlos ausverkaufte Londoner Barbican mit einem einzigartigen Konzert: Gemeinsam mit einem 25-köpfigen Ensemble, dem Shards Choir und einer hochkarätigen Band präsentierte sie orchestrale Versionen ihres gefeierten Solo-Debüts "Nobody Loves You More", ergänzt durch Songs von The Breeders und frühere Solo-Stücke. Der Abend endete mit stehenden Ovationen. Das besondere Konzert wurde vollständig aufgezeichnet und erscheint nun als "Live at the Barbican". · So here we are at ‘Volume 5’ of this series that once again captures Colleen’s unique take on Balearic. “Anger is Divisive,” runs the spoken word sample weaved into the pastoral ambience of ‘Quiet Storm’ from Sewell and The Gong’s ‘Patron Saint Of Elsewhere’ on Chris Coco’s DSPPR label from 2025. It’s a fitting opening to a collection put together with and for love.
· Born from the same lockdown isolation as ‘Balearic Breakfast’, ‘Fruits of Life’ from Sakura Murakami’s 2020 album ‘Hot Liquor’ offers a Tiki flavoured cocktail of tropical psychedelia.
· Digging deeper into her crates, Colleen then uncovers Flayer’s ‘Wanna Get Back Your Love’, a slow and sleazy piece of cosmic soul from Italy in 1983.
· Richard Earnshaw’s ‘Rise’, featuring Roy Ayers and spoken word artist Ursula Rucker, was hidden away on his only album from 2019.This slow jazz infused groover proves to be the perfect segue record as the collection hits the dancefloor with the Spiritual Life style deepness of ‘Ore Yeye O’ by Moroccan house producer Cee El Assaad and vocalist QVLN (Quetzal Guerrero).
· We then return to spoken word with Joshua Idehen’s diasporic club anthem ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’. You’re in it deep now, head down next to the speakers as The Seven Ups bring you ‘A Cosmic Scale’, a heavy slab of psych rock meets Afrobeat by way of Melbourne. We then take a trip over to Sheffield where Richard Barratt under his Crooked Man alias reunites with his dance music subverters All Seeing I for a wonderfully skewed mutant disco classic.
· Bringing things down gently with the sun kissed 1980s soul of Lovetempo ft Wattison’s ‘Wanna Be With You’ (ft. Mattison) out of Brooklyn, Colleen eases into the perfect exit to her eclectic journey with Santana drummer Michael Shrieve joined by Kevin Shrieve and the great Klaus Schulze for the Berlin new age cosmic epic from 1984, Transfer Station Blue’. Music for the head and feet brought to you with love by one of our masters of sonics and selection.
BASHKKA releases CORE, her new four-track EP on fabric Originals, arriving 6th November. The project marks her first original release since her breakthrough 2023 EP Maktub, introducing a stripped-back, old-school electro sound that draws together the different influences at the heart of her music.
At the centre of CORE is “Surrender”, a track that reflects BASHKKA’s background in Ballroom culture alongside her German roots. Soulful vocal samples sit against crisp electro rhythms, creating a contrast between infectious club energies. Across the four tracks, the EP moves through hypnotic and deep rhythms, with soft vocal samples woven into stripped-back productions creating a sensual and immersive atmosphere throughout the EP.

Dame-Music celebrates its 55th release with Second State Of Reality EP, a special reissue of two acclaimed Bloody Mary tracks, “Reality One (Acid Mix)” and “Reality Three (909 Mix)”, alongside a brand new remix by techno legend Chris Liebing, one of the genre’s most influential and enduring artists.
For the A-side, Bloody Mary invited Liebing to reinterpret “Reality One (Acid Mix)”. A long-time supporter of his work, she wanted to hear her track through his distinctive sonic approach. The result is a heavy, driving techno remix, pushing the original’s acid energy into darker and harder territory.
The B-side returns to Bloody Mary’s hardware roots, with crunchy TR-909 drums, crisp highs and mind-melting 303 sequences across two raw, hypnotic cuts.

Dajusch brings his distinctive sound to Backspin Records with 'Oracle', a five-track EP that showcases his instinct for powerful grooves, deep low end and carefully selected synth work, rounded out by a remix from Dutch techno veteran Sterac. Another strong addition to Regal's Backspin Records, this EP balances Dajusch's musical sensibility with his feel for high impact club music, keeping the focus firmly on club functionality.
Opening with 'Boxer', Dajusch immediately strips things down to their essential elements. A buzzing deep bassline provides the foundation while a repeated vocal hook becomes the central motif, surrounded entirely by percussion including a punchy kick, heavy toms and crisp hats. 'Narrow' introduces a saw wave synth that functions simultaneously as bassline and lead, gradually building tension through repetition and a slowly opening filter before a droning pad leads into the return of the drums. Closing the A-side, 'Reeses Piece' is built around a wide gliding Reese bass moving across di?erent notes. A heavy breakbeat, clean claps and hats provide the framework while a high-pitched vocal brings a distinct 90s rave energy, with swinging toms adding movement to an already groovy production.
On the flip side, the title track 'Oracle' shifts the focus towards melody, with Detroit-influenced synth work taking centre stage. A classy melodic motive is complemented by heavily processed vocals transformed into euphoric, drone-like elements, adding another dimension without losing the track's directness. 'Strings' closes the original material with a hefty saturated kick while string synths carry the main theme. Drums straight out of a classic drumcomputer and warm chords build into a more expansive breakdown before returning to the groove. Closing the EP, Sterac's remix of 'Narrow' takes the original saw synth motive into a more hypnotic direction, playing with its pitch and arrangement while reducing the percussion and pushing an already deeper kick further into the mix, giving the synth work more space to breathe.

With only his double bass and bow as vessel and sextant, a distant journey nevertheless begins to take shape. Vibrations and the striking of strings against wood quickly trace lines and winding paths across the surface of the water—so many routes to follow before leaving them behind, allowing the outward journey to become an inward voyage as well.
After an improvisation intended to shed light on the course ahead, isolated lands came into view: the shores of Iceland, the lands of the far north, places cut off from the rest of the world by vast expanses of water. Islands battered by a harsh climate that can only be endured by drawing warmth from deep within oneself.
Then the Caribbean arc appeared. The archipelago, a setting for joyful and unsettling experiences, takes Kham back to a childhood from which the passing years have carried him away. Rather than following the conventional channel of the music of these places, the West Indies emerge through memories whose colors are still vivid.
Through the morning mist, Roger Raspail’s percussion locks into the same frequencies of the groove. Double bass and struck skins then become companions on a road that intersects with Laurent Bardainne’s saxophone. Carrying a dreamlike message, David Neerman’s vibraphone also joins the narrative to write a few chapters of its own, while others are enchanted by the flute and voice of Naïssam Jalal, or struck by the metaphorical rhymes of rapper Rocé.
On the surface, through the themes along which the pieces navigate, landscapes slowly reveal themselves and change shape as the shore draws nearer or recedes. Straying from the marked course and allowing oneself to drift, breaking free from pure acoustic sound by adding loops first played live and then sampled, allows Kham to explore the depths. The depths of the ocean, as well as those of his soul. To enter a world of improvisation that reveals itself even as he explores it. Examined up close, feelings become shells to pick up and hold to one’s ear, so that they can be felt intensely until they take material form.
This sea, which had appeared peaceful, became the stage for a succession of stories and images, which then accumulated to give birth to a larger narrative.

South African alt-rap trio Internet Girl have officially announced their debut album, YES, arriving November 13 via PACK. Records. Alongside the announcement, the group has released their new single “DA BUSINESS” featuring Kenny Mason.
A high-energy party anthem, “DA BUSINESS” opens with distorted guitar before chopped vocals briefly pull things back, only for an abrupt beat drop and howling synth to send the track into overdrive. As another synth melody sweeps in, TK cuts through the chaos with an introspective opening verse before Kenny Mason crashes in with a gritty guest verse. Live drums, distorted guitars, and surging synths continue to build around them, turning their vocals into something closer to rage-filled battle chants than traditional rap verses.
Partially written on tour last year, “DA BUSINESS” is the oldest song on YES and one of the album’s few guitar-led tracks. Kenny connected with the trio over DMs months earlier before joining them on the track, bringing Atlanta and South Africa together for one of the album’s most charged moments. “DA BUSINESS” follows the trio’s recent single “ALL THE SAME,” a swagger-heavy track built around a hypnotic Spanish-language vocal sample and live drums before a heavily distorted bass synth takes over in its final stretch, drawing inspiration from South Africa’s booming taxi rave scene. Together, the two singles offer an early look at the range of YES, moving between the rock, rap, and electronic sounds Internet Girl have made entirely their own.
Written largely during a week-long trip to South Africa’s Karoo region at the beginning of 2026, YES captures Internet Girl at a turning point. What began as an ad-lib TK would throw into his verses gradually became the philosophy behind the record: saying yes to an idea and committing to it completely, even before there’s any proof it will work. Across the album, that once-delusional confidence begins to feel real as the trio reflect on coming of age, growing more comfortable with themselves, and becoming increasingly assured in the music they make.
The new release arrives on the heels of a big year for the South African trio, who have brought their high-energy live show to stages around the world, including Pitchfork Music Festival Paris and Boiler Room Soweto, while co-headlining Kiss Kiss Festival in South Africa alongside Basement Jaxx.

Navid was a true rising star, as anyone who heard his earlier works or felt his magnetic stage presence can attest to, and we all mourn the loss of his creative gifts and one of a kind spirit. In the years that followed, through the diligent efforts of his cousin, Lily, and brother, Aden, Navid's destroyed laptop and hard drive were miraculously restored, recovering crucial files for his work-in-progress debut album, Ayande. Those files were then placed in the adept and careful hands of fellow studio maestro Dave Aju, to complete Navid's mission, along with a gathering of musical family collaborations throughout the wondrous LP
"Birds Of Prey" kicks things off, setting the scene with the deep, spacey, soulful feels Navid was well known for. It includes live drums by John Bryars and additional production work by Tavish DJ & Dave Aju (aka DX3) that send the otherworldly vocoder and arpeggios into the next dimension. Keeping the interstellar vibe high, Diagnostics/Escape" sees Navid take the Trans-LA Express electro flex a step further with cyborg vocals waxing love poetic, leading to an entrancing second movement to finish as an Escape, indeed.
"Andromeda" follows with excellent updated production work by Charles Levine of Soul Clap/Crew Love fame, along with harp bliss from Caroline Campbell, vocal chorus duties by Ayako, Jackson Englund, and Shuggie Quezada, with some bonus piano plot twists and turns from Rodney of Elbow Grease.
"Islands" is an irresistible West Coast boogie jam of the highest order, with the gorgeous lead vocals of Angelica Bess blessing the floor-filling piece perfectly.
"Chica Go,” as the title implies with a wink, functions as a beautiful homage to the windy city, which tactfully ropes in not just deep house flavor but also hip hop via a couple of witty Nav freestyle verses, as well as Chicago blues and jazz motifs via harmonica and trumpet stylings by Matias Tasley and Greg Paulus, respectively.
"IMX" acts as an excellent mid-tempo interlude piece, with bonus hypnotic production by former studio mate and fellow Cali to Berlin brethren Lando Roy, before "Keep It Movin" sends us through the stratosphere complete with a trippy narrative intro by Nima Barsarani and soaring build-up to bridge vox by long time collaborator Sammy D of Pillowtalk. The family collabs continue at scorching temps on "Space Race" where Jesse Rennix lays down beyond heavenly vocal layers, and other other studio sistren Dina Moursi then drops an emotive posthumous duet on "Fingertips" with Paulus again tying lovely horn ribbons in.
"Stardust" launches straight into the cosmos with crisp co-production work by C-Love and appropriately free vocal finesse by Sisters Of Z, before Navid's brother Aden Hakimi offers up a stylized lyrical intro to the new jack-shouting production-prowess touting "Mm Mm,” followed by the grand finale "Never" which flows to a finish lushly with sultry Navid vox, classy harp touches by Campbell again, along with guitar by Chase Aldridge, E-Bow by Cole Odin, and very special guest flute blessings by King George of Sade fame.

Ayande (meaning Future in Farsi) is equal parts an incredible debut album and a true family affair tribute to one of the most inspired creative souls we've ever known and so dearly miss. It is dedicated in full to his beloved son, Tesla.

Next year the iconic anthem Cafe Del Mar will celebrate its 30th anniversary, a landmark that will be celebrated with a series of brand new remixes alongside the finest existing remixes in specially remastered versions.
Launching the series of vinyl releases in September is a remastered vinyl-only release of the original mix, as well as the best-known version of this classic track, the iconic Three ‘N One Remix.
Nearly 30 years ago, Paul M aka DJ Kid Paul recording as Energy 52 unleashed a record onto an unsuspecting public that would go on to define club culture for an entire generation of dance music enthusiasts. Named as an homage to the legendary Ibiza sunset spot, Café Del Mar broke down boundaries between the underground and
the mainstream, charting in the UK singles charts on three separate occasions and named as the “best tune ever” by Mixmag at the start of the new millennium. In terms of cultural and emotional impact in dance music, it’s hard to find a record that comes close.
Café Del Mar has come to represent the most euphoric and hedonistic pleasures of dancefloors - in Ibiza and all around the world - and has been remixed by some of the biggest names in the industry. Now, 30 years after its original release, Superstition Records will be putting out a new series of releases, with brand new remixes as well as remastered versions of some of the many remixes from across the last three decades. The vinyl-only remastered version of the original and Three ‘N One mixes will launch the series, with further details about the rest of the series announced in the coming weeks.
In 2021 Paul Van Dyk’s Café Del Mar remixes launched a series of vinyl and digital re-issues on the Superstition Records imprint after an almost 20 years hiatus. From 1993 until 2003 Superstition Records was a groundbreaking Techno, Tech-House and Trance Label and released some of the biggest and most revered records of the early German electronic scene.
Sumptuous sunset moods stretch into late-night movement on Razzle Dazzle, a jazz-leaning return from a loosely aligned global cast of serious deep house players. The sequencing feels deliberate, easing in with 'Connection' before letting grooves deepen and loosen across the set. London legend Giles Smith brings gentle swing on 'Love Pain', while the ever inventive DJ Boring nudges things toward the floor with 'Gimmie V Alwin'. Further highlights arrive in the warmth of Chicago's Alton Miller and the hypnotic pull of KZR aka the one and only Kai Alce. Musicality meets seductive groove here in what is undeniably a high class collection.

Shoebox Days is an homage to the time spent and the recordings made at their now defunct Long Beach studio, aptly named Shoebox. As the name suggests, the space was tiny and stuffed with gear. While charming, it was riddled with constraints. But, as has been proven time and time again, great art often comes from difficult circumstances, and this new 7 song EP is further proof. The first track, “The Watchers,” opens with an earworm horn melody that immediately pulls you in. The crunchy drums and G Funk bass tones put a bop on it, lush orchestration weaves in and out and sets a mellow vibe. “Blend,” one of only two vocal tracks on the EP, is a California sunshine soaked love song walking the lines of psych rock ballad and B side soul. ”Twin Kitchen” leans you right back into your seat, with Eric Hagstrom’s in-the-pocket drumming carrying the tune.
“Home Alone” is singer Kevin Martin’s ever so relatable tribute to time by himself, time by today’s standards as “disconnected,” but in reality, much more connected… The fellas let some of the jazz background take front stage on “Lone Traveler,” starting out with an air tight groove, and letting loose over it as the track progresses. “Gravity Hill” named after the famed California oddity begins the ending of the EP as Brainstory takes it deep and brings us with them. “Necessary Loss” serves as the closer to this gorgeous journey.
