Kicking off 2024, Diffuse Reality launches the year with a captivating new vinyl release, teasing the beginning of a wave of upcoming releases slated for the year ahead. cat can do presents M SERIES Vol 2, a 5 track EP of Techno with touches of Acid, splatters of Detroit and heavenly pads that will make you dance non stop till the next morning. Bright Magus is an instrumental quintet born under the influence of Miles Davis' metaphysical electric period, a visceral and magical passion always shared by Giovanni Calella and Leziero Rescigno. Davis' most eclectic and psychedelic period, that of recordings for Columbia from 1969 throughout the 70s. Albums like “In a Silent Way”, “Bitches Brew”, “A tribute to Jack Johnson”, “On The Corner”, “Big Fun” made them immerse themselves in one of the most fascinating experiments that Miles has generated in his long and prolific career. We are talking about music that is difficult to fit into one genre, in these masterpieces you can feel the contemporaneity of that historical period. Electric Jazz, Funk, Psychedelia, Rock, Afrobeat, Ambient, drag you into something absolutely new, mysterious and sometimes furious. Just a year ago Giovanni and Leziero took courage and started recruiting musicians who had to have the right attitude and knowledge. Guitarist Alberto Turra was the first to be interested in the project, then came Mauro Tre, pianist and keyboard player and Gianni Sansone on trumpet. All seduced by Miles and in love with that magical period.

Before making the first album "Jungle Corner", the band did some live shows to amalgamate all the ideas that came out during the improvs recorded by Tullio Treffiletti in the trumpeter's home studio (later baptized Selim Studio). At the Isola Studio in Manuel Agnelli's space and with the help of the very talented Guido Andreani, Bright Magus then recorded in three days live all the material which in the meantime had been enriched with more structured melodic themes and less casual drafts . Mauro's contribution was very important in this. The finalization of the album was then managed by them in the small "Diabolicus Studio" taking care of editing, post production and mixing.

Our seventh vinyl chapter at Small Great Things is presented by our residents Quadrakey. The limited vinyl and digital release, titled "Head Over Heels EP," consists of three original tracks and two remixes. This collection seamlessly fuses deep and classic house vibes with contemporary beats, ensuring a fresh dance floor experience.

Starting with the A1 side, 'Head Over Heels' kicks off the journey with a deep house groove complemented by stabs and a robust bassline. Moving to the A2 track, 'Yeah' takes center stage with its infectious groovy bassline, piano chords, and captivating drums. The A3 track, "2 Ways Out," adds a touch of nostalgia with hints of the 80s.

Flipping over to the B side, we come across two remixes. On B1, Luca Olivotto delivers a disco-house dance floor-ready cut, featuring vocals and guitars. B2 presents a fantastic remix from DJ Merci of the track "2 Ways Out," where he reinvents the entire production, crafting a deep house gem.

Spin desire is back after a little hiatus with its third outing, still on a quest to put out quality music from artists that are flying under the radar. This time with something a bit deeper than the first two releases, from UK-born and Berlin-based artist : Mculo

An artist we were lucky enough to meet a few years ago, capable of producing almost any type of music for any time of night (or day)

For this release he crafted a beautiful 4 trackers ranging from peak time house, UK infused breaks, to deep and hazy after hours house and closing it with a downtempo beauty.

As always with anything on Liquid Wax, these tracks are big club releases as Phantasy was testing them out at all the raves in the early 90’s. But Phantasy always has a trick up his sleeve that makes his music sound incredibly original and still fresh to this day, 31 years later!

This is one of Phantasy’s many aliases. ‘Get On The Floor’ is a jungle-techno stomper, created in the same studio that invented that genre. Where as ‘Welcome To The Underworld’ has very strong Liquid Aliens vibes about it.

After his remix for Keita Sano's 'Legacy For Leyton' EP in 2022, Tokyo-based Dayzero is back on Row with a four-track EP. Drawing inspiration from his urban surroundings, the ‘Lurking in the City’ EP is a multi-tempo’d playground for dynamic rhythms and effects. This EP sets another highlight in his growing discography, including releases on Livity Sound, ZamZam, Vomitspit, Sentry Records, the Chikara Project, and Nostrohoodsystem.

We are very proud to present the label Solitar. Coming out of Stockholm/Sweden, a place with a long line of significant and well respected techno labels, we start things off small and considered. We hope it is a humble beginning of something that will grow into its own over the coming years.

To make this launch as special as possible the label head himself, Lakej (Filip Strom), is behind this powerful solo EP. Delivering on this 12" four razor sharp dance floor tools accompanied by a very moody ambient outro trip.

The first record consists of edits, entwined loops, percussive beats, and captivating grooves-a synthesis of intertwined memories. It’s an experiments, search for meanings-a humble homage to the genres that have shaped me and the artists who continuously fuel my inspiration. The second is my personal story, as well as my memories, or rather fragments of them, its about my hometown, Yekaterinburg. the devils from the Ural Mountains who climb into my personality from everywhere, the time spent in Moscow that forged my resilience, and the chapter of relocating to Spain in pursuit of a brighter horizon. These are mere fragments of memories thanks to which I am here and now.

Ghastly and hallucinatory – 'last liasse' is a sign of the times, alternative pop record by helen island. Within this debut album, the artist captures the saccharine gaze of digital escapism through characteristic filtered high notes, cut-up genres, and processed vocals. Providing a comprehensive overview of helen island’s self-distributed initiatives, with the ethos of the Parisian Simple Music Experience collective, the twelve tracks set a solid musical score that resonates with the age to come.

Few artists have done as much as Heinrich Dressel to rekindle the genre of soundtracks. Even fewer are as capable as the Italian at writing such silver screen scores. Yet, Valerio Lombardozzi is much more than just one style. He has shown this time and time again, doing so once more with The Obscure Cities. Works of fiction, rather than film, are the fount of inspiration with tracks drawing on the likes of J.G. Ballard, Francois Schuiten, Benoit Peeters and Valerio Mattioli. The listener is transported to worlds of Dressel’s own making, landscapes of melody, textures of bass punctuated by drums. “Galatograd” opens. From understated beginnings, the track expands into a symphony of strings as columns of warmth descend. Tempos rise for “Eden Olympia”. A different tone is set. Juddering arpeggios and clean snares are elevated by bright and hopeful keys that sparkle with an enthusiasm and innocence. Deep unctuous bass gives way to gliding notes for “Remoria”. A piece where melodies and memories melt in the morning dawn. “Mylos” is the last visit of the EP. Delicate, almost fragile, notes are buttressed by drum patterns in this hazy dreamlike finale.
