This collection brings together rarities from well-known artists like Abstract Truth, Suck, Otis Waygood, Freedom's Children, John & Philipa Cooper, McCully Workshop and Hawk, as well as lesser known acts like Buzzard, The Fireflies, The Idiots, Tidal Wave, and The Invaders. Although the South African rock movement of the late sixties and early seventies was not a major commercial success, its participants heralded an exciting new age in South African rock and started a movement aimed at changing the musical tastes of fans in a spectacular way. Stadium concerts became the vehicle for feeding the youth with heavier rock sounds, and behind studio glass were producers like Clive Calder, Billy Forrest, Graham Beggs and Selwyn Miller who acted as change agents to transform conventional pop into heavier 4 to 5 minute songs. The movement's struggle for recognition through airplay remained unanswered and only the true fans of rock knew about their existence. Licensed by the Fresh Music label in South Africa and available on vinyl for the first time, complete with insert and liner notes.

Upon examining the eventful life of Can bassist Holger Czukay, one might
conclude that this intrepid musician was a loner. His turbulent career exuded
an enduring eccentricity governed by a boundless free spirit. Yet Czukay,
who passed away unexpectedly last year at the age of 79, constantly
emphasized that his creativity was always contingent upon a musical
partner, whether that was a skin-and-bones counterpart or an anonymous
manifestation that interacted with him through radio waves or, as happened
ater, the internet. Nonetheless, most of his partners were of flesh and
blood.
His oeuvre, which is in itself cinematic in nature, boasts a cast worthy of a
Martin Scorsese film. Only the most interesting character actors were cast:
Brian Eno, Phew, Rolf Dammers, David Sylvian, Annie Lennox, Jah Wobble,
his Can bandmates... the list could go on and on.
Many of these masterpieces are now out of print, so Groenland Records,
who already released the highly acclaimed retrospective 'CINEMA' to mark
he occasion of Holger's 80th birthday at the beginning of the year, has
aken it upon themselves to release reissues of Holger's music in order to
make it accessible once again.

Django Reinhardt devised an astonishing new technique of playing guitar built around the two fingers on his left hand that were left with full mobility after a devastating fire and, together with Stéphane Grapelli, he was responsible for defining the gypsy jazz genre. A nomadic spirit whose life became a never-ending quest to journey to wherever his precious talent would take him, Django Reinhardt will forever be revered as one of the most unique, gifted and influential musicians of the 20th century.

Raw formed during the summer of 1990 in Athens, Greece when keyboardist Giannis Papaioannou and percussionist Makis Faros started composing music for imaginary waiting rooms. They combined the traditional cut-up technique of tape-loops, the industrial timbres of musique concrète with the harmonics of world music, all filtered through digital sampling and computer programming. Their first recordings generated an 8 track demo, which was freely distributed among friends and the local underground press. After 6 months of work and several sessions with guest musicians on acoustic and electric instruments, Raw self-released their first album 'Land' in December 1991 on Elfish Records. In 1992 they recruited the band's sound engineer, Coti K., as a third member, both on stage and studio sessions. 'City' was their second album fully inspired by the mechanisms of their home town. Presenting a different electronic face of Raw, manipulating rhythms with analogue synthesizers and harsh sampling to evoke the atmosphere of Athens. 'City' was released on CD only by Elfish Records in 1994. 'Fragments' is a collection of 4 songs from 'City' presented on vinyl for the first time plus bonus track recorded during the 'City' sessions previously released on a compilation in 1992. All songs have been remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each copy includes a double sided postcard with photos and notes.

Cut to the motorway. Sleek cars barrel through the night. Sirens moan. Engines rev. You're behind the wheel, over the edge as the credits roll.

This film does not exist — but the soundtrack does. Symmetry is Johnny Jewel & Nat Walker, & Themes For an Imaginary Film is their two-hour cinematic opus pokus, a sprawling score for a movie that screens only in your mind. A 'conceptual tangent between Glass Candy, Chromatics, Mirage, & Desire's more abstract sides,' as Jewel himself describes the project, Symmetry is a vigorous, electric, restless exploration of ideas on the bleeding edge of instrumental sound. Analog synthesizers roll and crest, drums collide, keys cascade clear & crystalline. These themes evoke the phantasmic images that inspired them: urgent and ethereal, sinister & romantic. It's a neo-noir epic of pink fog & femme fatales hidden behind rain drenched windshields after dark.

Following a string of well-received EPs on Cin Cin, Exit Strategy and Get Physical, Belfast's LOR readies his debut, self-titled album 'Lunar Orbit Rendezvous'. This will mark the first release on his newly minted label LOREC. A technique used in Apollo lunar missions, 'Lunar Orbit Rendezvous' charts a journey to the moon and back. A bold album, both in concept and sound, it's the work of an artist coming into his own.The title track and first single 'Lunar Orbit Rendezvous' prepares the album for lift off. It's a track that carries the technical tension of crucial operations, with gnarly acid pulses and happily erratic synths sparring over a steadfast electro beat while vocal samples collapse into themselves. In some parts of life this is very clear like having a baby, do drugs, to work, not to work, be an artist, be a banker and so it continues. Yin & Yang and the whole idea of duality is another way to describe this. When you go left you say goodbye to right - at least for the moment you choose left. What you choose is up to you. It wasn't always my dream to get up at 3pm to change diapers, but it was always my dream to have a family. And here the sacrifice is not even mentionable. It's more than worth it. But when you sometimes in life make a choice that you regret but which always will follow you, or when uncontrollable powers force you into another direction, it can easily switch the poles between high and low. In these cases you just have to look forward, but not without looking back. You need to learn, take it with you, and do better next time. This album is about how my highs also can be my anxieties."

Polish producer CYD joins the ever impressive E-Missions with six leftfield cuts in 'Disassemble Yourself' EP.

Launching in New York last year, the first three E-Missions releases came from co-founders P.Leone and Caiazzo. Since then the label has relocated to Berlin, developing its roster throughout 2018 with quality releases coming from Tred and Rush Plus that further cemented the label's growing reputation as one of the most interesting labels to emerge in recent years. Joining the roster now, CYD aka Karol Kazmierzewski has been making music under various aliases for the best part of two decades and has developed a versatile yet distinct sound as a result.

Swelling synths and grainy effects open the release in 'A Warmness You Can't Touch' before moving into the downtempo beats and scintillating melodies of 'Halcyon Dreams'. Up next, 'One Winged' ups the energy with crashing percussion, twisted effects and serene female vocals, making way for a layered composition complete with echoing atmospherics titled 'Hidden In The Forest'. With its dystopian aesthetic, 'Initiation' is the most ominous on the package, whilst 'Not So Shallow' incorporates chopped samples and quivering chords for a hypnotic conclusion.
