Sven Gali’s trademark blend of heavy riffs, gritty vocals, and anthemic melodies span decades. Cutting their teeth in the bar circuit of Southern Ontario, Canada in the late 80’s, Emerging with a record deal with BMG, Sven Gali released their debut self-titled release in 1992. From the first chord of “Under The Influence” Sven Gali made their mark. As the album went Gold, Sven Gali won the Much Music Best Metal Video Award in 1993 for “Under The Influence” and was nominated for two Junos.

Nach seiner überraschenden digitalen Veröffentlichung ist Sigur Rós’ erstes neues Studioalbum seit zehn Jahren, ÁTTA, ihr bisher intimstes und emotional direktestes Album.

Nur wenige Bands dringen so durch den Lärm und die Ablenkungen der Welt und vermitteln eine reine, elementare Wahrheit und ein Gefühl wie Sigur Rós. Wie man auf ÁTTA hört, spürt man in der Band einen neuen Antrieb und eine neue Dynamik, die mit der neuen Besetzung einhergeht. Multiinstrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson ist zurück – nachdem er die Band 2012 verlassen hatte – und schließt sich Frontmann Jónsi und Bassist Georg Holm an.

Zu Bookends erscheint ein Video von Caity Arthur. "Im Video geht es um Tod und Absolution, wie der Tod eines der wenigen sicheren Dinge im Leben ist, der große Gleichmacher, nolens volens", so Arthur. "Es untergräbt aber auch das traditionelle Narrativ vom Tod als verzweifelte Leere und porträtiert ihn mit seinem halluzinogenem Sixties-Ensemble stattdessen als euphorische Übergangserfahrung samt TV-Pop-Performance und Taschenspielertricks, während Megs Lyrics den Tod in all seinen Formen beschwören." Für "Scratch It" hat Meg Remy mit Gitarrist Dillon Watson eine Band zusammengestellt - ursprünglich für einen einmaligen Festivalaufrtitt, aufgrund der guten Chemie schließlich gleich für ein ganzes Album. Mit Watson an der Gitarre, Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs, Loretta Lynn) am Bass, Domo Donoho am Schlagzeug und Jo Schornikow und Tina Norwood an den Keys entstand "Scratch It" innerhalb von zehn Tagen in Nashville. Zwischendurch schaute auch Mundharmonika-Legende Charlie McCoy vorbei, der bereits mit Elvis, Bob Dylan und Roy Orbinson gearbeitet hatte und seine Künste für einige Songs einbrachte. Die Authentizität der analog produzierten Songs ist unmittelbar, ein Zeugnis der Chemie zwischen allen Beteiligten, Remy klingt relaxt wie kaum je zuvor. Das Album verwebt Country, Gospel, Garage Rock, Soul, Disco und Folk, während sich Remy in den Lyrics mit Patti Smith auseinandersetzt, mit junger Liebe, Mutterschaft, Macht-Dynamiken, der Kraft von James Brown, verstorbenen Weggefährten, dem Goldrausch am Yukon - oder dem eigenen nach einer Tequila-getränkten Nacht. Dat Thing sets the tone. A driving house track that encapsulates the raw energy and spirit of Detroit, featuring hypnotic synth lines and robust bassline that give a hint of melancholy whilst maintaining a stripped back groove for maximum club impact.

Niamh’s Song is a deeper exploration of melody and rhythm, showcasing Cappello's masterful ability to weave complex harmonies into an intoxicating, otherworldly groove.

Flip over for Galactic Praise, a tribute to the roots of Techno, this track combines classic 909 and 303 elements with ethereal pads creating a heavier, timeless sound that will resonate with both longtime fans of the genre and newcomers alike.

Closing out this special EP we have Neon Skyline, a pumping yet reflective piece that captures the essence of late-night drives through urban landscapes blending chiming arpeggios, a driving synth bassline and tough beats making for an immersive experience.

There’s a particular magic that happens when seasoned producers with global roots come together under a shared ethos - not for hype, but for connection. That’s precisely what MISINGO represents. A cross-continental studio experiment born out of Covid-era isolation, the group spans hemispheres and histories: Yorkshire's Doorly, L.A. legend Gary Richards (aka Destructo), and Australian duo Colour Castle. Their debut offering, Give You Love, lands via UK House Music institution Hard Times Records, and it’s as emotionally resonant as it is built for the floor.

Anchored by a slow-burning acid line and moody, immersive synthwork, 'Give You Love' carries the DNA of classic house without feeling like pastiche. DJ Rae’s smokey vocal, recorded in Doorly’s Ibiza studio, sets the tone - raw, intimate, immediate. Gene Farris enters with a gravelly, magnetic counterpoint, flipping the call-and-response into something spiritual. It’s a record that feels both new and deeply lived-in, a jam session from afar that somehow lands with unity and purpose.

For the remix suite, Hard Times dig into family ties and deliver a heavyweight lineup that spans generations of dance music lineage.

First up, DJ Pierre, the Phuture pioneer himself, brings a Wild Pitch revision that is pure summer sleaze and shimmer. Glistening keys, kinetic snares, and a syrup-thick bassline collide in a mix that’s tailor-made for golden-hour sets and open-air systems.

DJ Romain brings that New York swing. All velvet chords, stabbing pianos, and organ swells that spiral skyward. It’s gospel-house energy that doesn’t need to shout to be heard, a reminder that soul still moves the dancefloor.

Closing out the package is Charles Lavine of Soul Clap fame, whose Boston-bred funk sensibility steers things into new territory. He strips back the mix, lets Rae’s vocal ride the groove, and injects a subtle bounce that turns heads and hips in equal measure.

With 'Give You Love', MISINGO and Hard Times haven’t just released a single, they’ve bottled a moment: one born of distance, stitched together with soul, and destined for collective release on dancefloors worldwide.

After meeting vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, & physician Eki Shola through her first vinyl release and playing her on the Oonops Drops show on Brooklyn Radio, Oonops asked her to be featured on the Nautilus single "Why I Came to California" alongside Denise M'Baye.

After this incredible release, a new common project was needed: so he asked Japanese beatmaker Shin-Ski as well as soul pianist, soul producer and soul dj SWING-O 45 a.k.a. 45 from Tokyo who is the head behind the 45trio. Both of them chose their favorites songs from Eki's album "還 (Kaeru)" to create their own vibrant reinterpretation.

Besides the limited black edition, there will be a hand-numbered edition of 50 on golden 7"-vinyl via Oonops Drops.

I've admired drummer William hooker since first encountering his music in a hartford ct city park, early ‘90s (on a double bill with Jerry González & Fort Apache Band). From the man himself right off the bandstand i bought his even-then rare 1st recording, the 1976 self-released x2LP opus -is eternal life- (reissued 2019 by superior viaduct). An imposing force on his instrument & an intrepid DIY cat, Hooker’s been exuberantly swinging in&out of free time for 50+ years. informed by the innovations of Sunny Murray & Tony Williams yet entirely himself, there is no other term for it than “pure hooker.” at age 78, with the ancients & everywhere else, THE HOOK is in peak form.

With a discography approaching 600 entries & 50+ years working across the musical maps, including in the history-defining bands of Don Cherry, Cecil Taylor, Bill Dixon, Peter Brötzmann, in his own wondrous ensembles from small group to orchestra to opera, a bastion of compassionate leadership & a poetic champion of his musical community, in tireless service to what he rather egolessly refers to as “the tone world”, multi-instrumentalist, improviser & composer william parker is a living hero of the grassroots & the black mystery musics, not to mention one of the great bassists in the history of jazz. In 1970, Italian composer Sandro Brugnolini recorded the two psychedelic lounge masterpieces Overground and Underground at Dirmaphon Studios in Rome. Featuring a lineup of some of Italy’s finest musicians—Silvano Chimenti (guitar), Angelo Baroncini (guitar), Giorgio Carnini (organ and piano), Giovanni Tommaso (bass and effects), and Enzo Restuccia (drums)—these sessions were deeply rooted in the late 1960s psychedelic sound but uniquely fused jazz improvisation, funk, and Latin and African rhythms with cinematic melodies.

This fusion defines their distinctive character and cements them as two of Brugnolini’s most impressive works, remaining among the most sought-after artifacts from the golden era of Italian library music. Overground—which Sonor Music Editions reissued in 2024—was originally released as the soundtrack to Persuasione, a documentary commissioned by Ente Provinciale Per Il Turismo Di Trento. Meanwhile, Underground was issued in two separate releases, RT 104 and RT 16, on the library and soundtrack label Record TV Discografica, founded by Alessandro Derevitzky in the late 1950s. In 2014, we compiled both versions for Underground's first-ever reissue (SME 3), featuring the longer version of ”Psichefreèlico" from RT 16, instead of the shorter ”Sostenuto” and ”Ballata" versions from RT 104, along with new artwork. Now, in this 2025 reissue, Underground returns in its original RT 104 attire, with its original track listing and artwork. Sourced and carefully remastered from the original mono tapes and lacquer cut by Jukka Sarapää at Timmion Cutting, this edition features carefully restored Record TV Discografica label design artwork, printed on high-quality card stock.

DESCRIPTION
Having endured no less than three long-players and a brace of singles featuring the caterwauling of Messrs Hampshire and Childish, the Milkshakes’ audience figured it might be time for an instrumental outing. In response the group gave them just that. But this was to be no run-of-the-mill effort – no Dick Dale-esque surf marathons or Shadowsy twangers are apparent here. These tunes are more ‘rhythm-and-mood’-based compositions; occasionally leaning more towards the Link Wray end of the spectrum – as you would probably expect. This IVth album (hence the name) was recorded in 1983 at Oakwood Studios – as were all previous releases – but this was the first in their new facilities in a converted church near Canterbury, which opened up a whole new golden vista of shimmering, silvery sounds in atmospheric conditions. Of course, the Milkshakes were having none of that. We suggest you plonk the wax on your gramophone and let whatever happens happens. Hasty bananas.

NIGHTBEARER melden sich mit ihrem dritten Albumkracher "Defiance" zurück. New Vienna ist die vierte Konzertveröffentlichung von Keith Jarretts triumphaler letzter Solo-Tournee durch Europa. Das Album folgt auf München 2016, Budapest Concert und Bordeaux Concert. Weshalb der Titel New Vienna? Jene, die mit Jarretts Musik näher vertraut sind, wissen, dass seine Diskografie bereits ein legendäres Wien-Konzert (aufgenommen in der Wiener Staatsoper) enthält, von dem er einmal behauptete, seine Musik spreche ”die Sprache der Flamme selbst”, nachdem er jahrelang ”mit Feuer gespielt” hatte. Keith Jarretts Rückkehr in die österreichische Hauptstadt im Jahr 2016 brachte die Flammen der Inspiration an einen anderen historischen Ort mit legendär lebendiger Akustik, den Goldenen Saal des Wiener Musikvereins, wo zu Beginn des vergangenen Jahrhunderts Werke von Schönberg, Berg und Webern uraufgeführt wurden, die den Kurs der modernen Musik herausforderten und veränderten. Listening to CD3, I'm reminded of how the Vincent Over The Sink record '22 Coloured Bull Terriers' made me feel all those years ago. There's a free ranging quality to it.

It feels calmly capable of doing whatever it wants. It feels mysterious and self-generating, almost aloof to the humans who made it. I adored that record; it cascaded into so many epiphanies.

I don't want to implicate Cooper and David's music in any fleeting desire towards currency, but listening to this CD3 record over the last few weeks has felt weirdly, thematically correct. There's an echo-ey kind of referentiality to it. Not to particular styles of music, but to the recently elapsed histories those styles of music evoke. It's something that Th Blisks kind of gestures towards, but which this project seems to own entirely.

It's a kind of melted reconfiguration of popular (occasionally popular-on-the-fringes) styles. These familiar sounds are reconfigured and muddied. Hindsight frames the sources in an almost primordial light, to the extent that they feel like folk art.

Glyphted and Franzbranntwein sound like pop songs stripped to their bones and distorted, as if the styles they vaguely recall are as old as time. It's a stunningly weird effect. Songs like The Duchess and Farmhand exacerbate this impression. The record comes to feel yearningly ahistorical. But in a way that feels pertinent?

It might just be where my head is at, but the implacable nature of the record feels important to me, somehow. It's something far, far north of post-modern but... ancient too. - Shaun Prescott

Informed by UFO encounters, ritualism, robots, Northern Soul, and nuclear weapons, ‘Automata Exotica’ was released in March 2024 and was described as “Heavy but also joyful” by The Quietus, “A fuzzy blast of space-surf energy”in Shindig and “A remarkable and unique proposition” by Louder Than War.

Rather than having been transformed out of all recognition, “reimagined” is a more apt term to describe this new version of ‘Automata Exotica’. With the album’s eight tracks presented via considered, alternative mixes with pertinent sonic application, it hangs together incredibly coherently - albeit as a wild and feverish psychedelic experience.

JTV toured with GOAT while writing ‘Automata Exotica’, with the fat fuzz tones and extended middle percussion section of ‘Typhoon Reggae Police’ heavily influenced by their time watching and learning from side stage. Starting life as an uneasy mixture of scratchy 60s garage rock and 70s Afghan psych folk, Goat Fool from GOAT ripped the song apart and stitched it back together. Recognisable but weird and uncanny, it’s a stripped down, oppressive, shimmering voodoo nightmare.

“We used to go and see Gabe’s weird, excellent band Factory Floor playing dark little club nights in Shoreditch years ago and marvel at the racket” says JTV. “Gabe’s been a long time collaborator of ours, in fact he’s the only person to not only do more than one remix for us, but has featured on every remix release we’ve done. Our most ecstatic, cathartic song, ‘Tabadaboum’ was the perfect match for Gabe - the motorik krautrock bassline fits right in with the pneumatic grind of his vintage drum machine loops and synth flurries”.

It's hard to measure the impact cult 1970s Canadian space rock proto punk psych band Simply Saucer had on the formation of Japanese Television. The band reached out to Edgar Breau - the band’s founding member and guitarist - who guitarist Tim says was “really generous with his time, and really kind to an overly keen and slightly awkward Simply Saucer mega fan. It's a real honor to have him playing guitar on one of our records”. His cosmic reimagining of ‘Golden Birds’ layers on the delay, reverb and screaming guitars, launching the track into outer space.

‘Automata Exotica (Remixed)' is set for release on 6th June 2025 on limited edition LP and digital formats. Japanese Television tour in Europe through March and April. The album is released by cult underground label Tip Top Recordings (Jim Wallis, Mandrake Handshake, Pearl & The Oysters), run by Ben Rimmer and David Warn.

Lost Tapes Showcase; released on 6th October 2023, was short in the making, when Marcus I visited the Bakery Studio, Manchester for 1 week in June 2017 to voice the album. The album was then lost to the Bakery vaults for a long 6 years! It is a international collaboration with Marcus I hailing from Spain, bringing his lyrics and vocal styles to the UK with additional over-dubs (backing vocals and Kette drum) laid down at Golden Hen Studios in Madrid. Working together before the visit, Marcus I sent Al Breadwinner 4 acoustic guitar demos which he then built into rhythm tracks ready for voicing. The other 2 tracks were preexisting rhythm tracks from the Breadwinners archive that just seemed to fit the lyrics Marcus I had written.

The visionary 1983 album by Anthony Hobson, is a bold exploration of enterprising drama themes. Featuring hypnotic synth layers, commanding brass motifs, and the pulsating rhythms of electric bass and drum machine, each track resonates with confidence and ambition. Hobson's masterful compositions from this album were regular features on sports highlight reels throughout the 80’s and 90’s, including “Polestar 1” on NFL Films. From touchdowns and slam dunks to space age captains of industry, "Millenium" captivates listeners with its dynamic compositions, offering a compelling musical journey through the aspirations and achievements of the burgeoning digital age of the early 1980s.

Sam Tinnesz is a Nashville based singer-songwriter whose debut album 'Babel' was originally released in 2017 and includes the Gold-certified streaming hit "Legends Are Made" (#1 song on TikTok, multiple major sync placements including a TV commercial for Jeep) and "Wolves" (used in the video game "Apex Legends")

The legendary London based Get Fucked is set for highly anticipated reissue, bringing back two timeless classics and sought after tracks from the early 2000s. This special edition features a meticulously remastered version of the classic Charlie’s Knickers, alongside a previously unheard take on Nils Hess’ Alcohol Is My Favourite. Expertly restored and reimagined by the revered reissue series Endell Street, this is a pure gold collector’s number.

We've watched the movies, seen the photos, heard the stories. As in all of New York City, crime was as rampant in the subway as it was on the streets. Thefts, robberies, shootings and killings were a frequent reality throughout the 1970s. In 1979, a group of angered residents led by Curtis Sliwa began taking crime prevention into their own hands, donning red berets - looking very much like a gang and calling themselves the Guardian Angels. This funky track produced by the Legendary Patrick Adams and uptown empresario Peter Brown is an ode to what was hapenning at the time. Like many of the P&P records of the time, this wasn't dance music for flashy downtown clubs, it was the real uptown funk! With bass as heavy as rolling stock, and field recordings from the subway tannoy echoing along almost empty train carriages late at night, Margo Williams's vocals supply the inner city funk menace with some almost ethereal soul.' At a crossroads between funk, soul and an emerging Hip Hop culture this track apealled to both the disco crowd and the bravado of the uptown b-boys.

Was vor mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten begann, bekommt nun eine neue Dimension: My Chemical Romance veröffentlichen eine Deluxe-Edition ihres zweiten Albums – mit zusätzlichen Tracks und neuen Facetten des Klassikers. Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge (Deluxe Edition) erscheint am 6. Juni 2025 – exakt 21 Jahre nach Erstveröffentlichung des Albums, das allein in den USA dreifach mit Platin ausgezeichnet wurde. Die Neuauflage kommt frisch abgemischt und neu gemastert daher – als CD, digital und in mehreren farbigen Vinyl-Varianten. Darunter auch ein großartiges 2LP-Set mit Zoetrop-Effekt. In 1976, legendary musician and composer Roy Ayers released one of the most iconic albums of his career: "Everybody Loves the Sunshine." This album not only solidified Ayers as a key figure in the world of jazz-funk but also marked a milestone in soul music and contemporary jazz. It features a sophisticated blend of irresistible grooves, smooth melodies, and a unique sound that has endured over the years, becoming a reference for multiple generations of musicians and listeners.

By the mid-70s, Ayers had already established his reputation with his band, Roy Ayers Ubiquity, and his distinctive use of the vibraphone, which became his personal trademark. However, with this album, Ayers ventured into a smoother, more accessible sound, partly in response to the rise of disco music and the growing interest in more experimental sounds within the music scene. Throughout its ten tracks, Ayers managed to create a sonic atmosphere that evoked both the warmth of summer and the sophistication of jazz from that era, set against a backdrop of modern soul. The production was carried out by Ayers himself, along with his producer and friend, David R. Williams, and features the wonderful sound of Phillip Woo's Fender Rhodes and the powerful energy of the rest of the band, achieving an unmistakable authenticity and freshness. Some of its most well-known songs include the title track, ‘Everybody Loves the Sunshine,’ ‘The Golden Rod,’ and ‘The Third Eye,’ which quickly became classics of jazz-funk and soul. This album is crucial in Roy Ayers' career, as it demonstrates his ability to remain relevant and creative in an ever-changing music industry. Give Me Your Love' by Sylvia Striplin is an iconic album of the early 80s and was first released on Uno Melodic Records, a label belonging to jazz and soul legend Roy Ayers. Sylvia previously sang with Aquarian Dream as lead on 'You're A Star' before joining Roy as a member of the group Eighties Ladies. 'Give Me Your Love' is soul, disco, boogie and 'rare groove' all in one. This is an album of timeless gems which on both LP and CD has exchanged hands for hundreds of UK Pounds in both original and reissue formats. These are signature tracks from a golden era of music.

A timeless rock & roll band for the modern world, The Prescriptions sharpen their sound with Time Apart. During a month living with the Wampís in the Amazon Rainforest, Aboutface and the Wampís community collaboratively captured field recordings, music instrumentation and traditional Wampis Nampets – ancient songs sung from the perspective of animals living in their rainforest environment.

These recordings then informed 4 improvised performances to articulate the story of the 4 Nampet songs from within each animal's habitat, to depict nature and culture as inseparable, and to propose that humanity is not exclusive to humans but a multinaturalist characteristic available to all living organisms.

This is the first project of its kind in Wampís history and contains sound recordings of biodiversity that no longer exist due to deforestation.

Indigenous-managed Amazonian rainforests sequester around 340 million tonnes of CO₂ each year—equivalent to the UK’s annual fossil fuel emissions. In stark contrast, non-Indigenous-controlled forests have become sources of carbon emissions, therefore accelerating our global climate crises. Among the vital custodians of these precious ecosystems are the Wampís people, who protect 1.3 m ha of precious rainforest territory currently being decimated by mining for gold. This devastating practice is currently decimating Wampís territory, destroying their river habitats, leaving toxic methylmercury pollution that strips all biodiversity, contaminates the food chain, and causes widespread harm.

100% of all sales revenues from this release will directly go to the Wampís to protect their rainforest territory, to fund Wampís-led eco-initiatives against illegal mining, alongside ways to preserve Wampís cultural heritage– embedded in their songs, art and crafts, central to their conservation of their territory called The Iña Wampisti Nunke: A system of life that encompasses reciprocal relationships between humans, plants, animals, and spirits, central to the harmony of all its multi-dimensional ecology– which they term Tarimat Pujut.
