SODOMISERY spinnen auf ihrem zweiten Album "Mazzaroth" ein dunkles lyrisches Garn über den Irrsinn der Gesellschaft, Religion und den Kampf des Individuums. Das schwedische Melodic Death Quartett unterstreicht seinen locker-konzeptionellen Ansatz mit einer bemerkenswerten musikalischen Entwicklung, die ihren ursprünglichen Sound, der auf der Kraft und Präzision des Death Metal basiert, um die rasende und kalte Aggression des Black Metal erweitert. SODOMISERY verleihen ihrem Sound durch den Einsatz von Keyboards eine zusätzliche dramatische Tiefe. Kein Wunder, denn die Schweden zählen DIMMU BORGIR, CRADLE OF FILTH und CHILDREN OF BODOM zu den wesentlichen Quellen ihrer Inspiration. SODOMISERY entstanden aus einem Studioprojekt des Stockholmer Gitarristen Harris Sopovic, der die Band mit Hilfe von NETHERBIRD-Frontmann Johan Fridell, Bassist Niklas Sandin (KATATONIA, LIK) und Schlagzeuger Pär Johansson, der für seine Arbeit mit CRAFT und DIABOLICAL bekannt ist, im Jahr 2015 ins Leben rief. Das Resultat war die gleichnamige 3-Track-EP "Sodomisery", die im Jahr 2017 digital erschien. Angespornt von dem massiven Lob für die EP rekrutierte Sopovic neue Mitglieder und beschloss, die Band unter dem Namen SODOMISERY weiterzuführen. Das Debütalbum "The Great Demise" (2020) lässt sich auch als bewusste Absichtserklärung interpretieren, dabei nicht blindlings in die riesigen, obgleich auch etwas abgenutzten Fußstapfen der legendären Stockholmer Death Metal Szene zu treten. Stattdessen bevorzugen die schwedischen Newcomer einen melodischeren und vielseitigeren Ansatz. In der Zeit zwischen ihren Anfängen und dem zweiten Album haben sich SODOMISERY massiv weiterentwickelt, wofür "Mazzaroth" der schlagende Beweis ist!

Drawing inspiration from sixties psychedelia, specifically the Tropicalia movement, Melotone are a band more interested in texture and ambience than ego. The EP continues the band's exploration of Brazilian soundscapes - the native country of singer Alec Madeley - whilst reconciling their humble beginnings in the Black Country, where the band grew up and met each other. Lyrically and musically, the EP faces questions of identity and of being in the unknown, but creating purpose in this space. It represents Melotone's journey across the music of their homelands as they mould a sound entirely recognisable as their own.

Sometimes drifting into the realms of folk, jazz, and soul, Melotone channel instrumental pioneers Khurangbin and Kikagaku Moyu with vocals that resemble the arresting style of singers Jeff Buckley and Brittany Howard, and at times the spirit of Portuguese-English singing Caetano Veloso.

Donald Harris, James Boone, Maurice Puckett, Robert Dycus, James Brantley, Maride Williams, Dennis McNeil, The Rhythm Machine formed in Indianapolis by former members of the Highlighters. In the early days they were primarily a live act, playing locally and touring frequently. They opened for Earth, Wind and Fire and The Emotions, among others.

They released three 45’s and a full length LP during their time. Two 45’s “The Kick” and “Brenda and Me/Put A Smile On Time” were on Lulu, while “Freakish Love/Whatcha Gonna Do” was on Rodan. Their LP, released in 1976 towards the end of their run, was on Lulu. With the Indianapolis soul scene marked almost exclusively by 45’s, this LP release was one of few released locally in the 1970’s, and it is quite scarce and in demand today.

AND 2LP clear vinyl at that, giving the strutting, funky grooves the chance to really stretch out on your system. Back in 1992, Southern hip-hop was still proving to the world that it could sustain a fan base that was chiefly raised on rap from New York and LA. The Geto Boys and 2 Live Crew had made strong cases by the earliest '90s, and Pimp C and Bun B were ready to make their own. Most of the trunk-bumping bass comes from drum programs and basic sampling on these tunes - in later years they would build their sound into something even fuller and deeper. Self-produced with additional work from Houston locals Bernie Bismark and Shetoro Henderson, the tracks here are minimal, slow and menacing, which matched their lyrical approach quite nicely. You can hear the beginnings of the group's true greatness in these early lyrical workouts - several taken from the regional cassette-only EP The Southern Way that got them signed to Jive - with tales of street hustles, relationships and self-reliance in a world stacked against them. They may have been done early-on, but that doesn't mean they aren't crucial to UGK's legacy - cases in point being the three singles: Something Good', a charismatic update to Bill Withers' Use Me Up', and Pocket Full Of Stones' (the latter featured on the Menace II Society soundtrack). Beyond the singles, deeper cuts like I'm So Bad,' Feels Like I'm The One Who's Doin' Dope' and Cramping My Style' made it clear to the world that this crew had the attitude and charisma to make even bigger waves in the years to come.

First release from French producer FKJ since his EP Ylang Ylang in 2019, Just Piano is an eight-track piano-only set that we have never heard before. We knew the multi-instrumentalist endowed with supernatural powers allowing him to master each instrument (or almost) to perfection. With this new project, FKJ reveals his talent for healing the souls of a single piano.

Nach mittlerweile zwölf Jahren Bandgeschichte ist es Zeit, die neue Power Metal Hoffnung WINTERSTORM auf ein neues Level zu heben. Ihr fünftes Album "Everfrost" ist ihr Debut auf AFM Records und zeigt zurecht, dass die deutsche Band mit Gruppen wie Blind Guardian und Rhapsody Of Fire verglichen wird.

"Winter" steht für nordischen Viking und Folk-Metal, "Storm" für schnellen Powermetal, welche zusammen mit epischem und orchestralem Metal in einem neuen Glanz erstrahlen. "Everfrost" ist ein vielseitiges und kraftvolles Album, welches sich hinter gestandenen Genrekollegen nicht verstecken muss.
Alles in allem eine explosive Mischung, welche auf WINTERSTORMS neuestem Werk ein weiteres Highlight findet.

Holy Hive haben in der kurzen Zeitspanne von 3 Jahren zwei Alben und eine EP veröffentlicht und dann beschlossen, sich aufzulösen. Während die Fans diese Nachricht zweifellos nicht mögen werden, bleibt uns allen die zeitlose Musik, die sie während ihrer gemeinsamen Zeit gemacht haben, erhalten, und produktiv waren sie sicherlich. Springs zartes Falsett über dem schweren Schlagzeugspiel von Homer Steinweiss erwies sich als eine himmlische Kombination und sie schufen einen Sound, der die Ohren und Herzen aller Hörer verzauberte und den Begriff "Folk Soul" prägte. "Big Crown Vaults Vol. 3 : Holy Hive" gräbt in der Schatztruhe unveröffentlichter Aufnahmen und holt einige heraus, die nie den Weg auf Vinyl gefunden haben. Diese Aufnahmen entstanden größtenteils während ihrer zwei Album-Sessions, einige wurden sogar aufgenommen, bevor sie bei Big Crown unterschrieben.

'Can I Go Again?', das Debütalbum von Benét (Benét Nutall) aus Richmond, VA, ist eine abwechslungsreiche Sammlung nachdenklicher, dicht gepackter Indie-Pop-, Rock- und Soul-Tracks, die ebenso emotional mitschwingen wie sie unmittelbar und ansteckend sind. KAU (previously KAU trio.) is an instrumental trio based in Brussels. Representing various European backgrounds, the Belgian capital and melting pot proves to be a never ending source of inspiration for the band. Taking influences from jazz, groove and dance music, their aim is simple but straightforward: to make your heads bob. The formula they use to do so has been the same since their early days: improvisation, never ending jam sessions and an open-mindedness towards various genres and styles. This gives their music an organic and vibrant feel. Furthermore, the three boys' long-lasting friendship is at the heart of it all, always relying on what brings them together: their love for music. The KAU cycle is bound to repeat itself and to birth something new - over and over again.

"The Cycle Repeats" is KAU's debut album, due on September 22 on SDBAN Ultra, the home of ECHT!, Black Flower, Glass Museum, STUFF. and more. It represents a milestone in the band's musical journey: it's their firm decision to present a strong and unified trio playing music that stands out through the combination of 80's synths, acoustic drums and electric bass. Moreover, the album succeeds in capturing the energy of their infectious and legendary live shows.

Highlights are album opener "Kampala", which has a throbbing bassline, jazzy synths and heavily modified arpeggiators at its core. The album's first single "Little Steps" starts with a strong hip hop groove, morphing into Herbie Hancock-style chords. "Amulet" is inspired by breakbeats, fast paced grooves and pentatonic bass lines. Both "Kautokeino" and "Alaska" are an invitation to travel to the utmost remote places of this earth, using intense sequencing and suffocating subbasses into an epic finish, probably demonstrating the trio in its most sincere form.

In short: with André Breidlid on drums, Matteo Genovese on bass and Jan Janzen on synths, KAU are a trio of childhood friends with a pan-European identity, whose music reflects the city they grew up in: unapologetic, richly diverse and with a spontaneous groove underlining it all. With their new album "The Cycle Repeats" they directly aim for your dancing shoes and souls.

Der britische Singer-Songwriter Bakar ist zurück mit seinem mit Spannung erwarteten zweiten Album "Halo", dem Nachfolger seines Debüts "Nobody's Home" aus dem Jahr 2022. Das Album enthält den britischen Top-20-Hit und die Gold-Single "Hell n Back" (über 60 Mio. Streams in Großbritannien) und die neue Single "Alive!", die am 21. Juni mit einem kultigen Video unter der Regie von Rubberband veröffentlicht wurde.

Daniel Ögren is one of the key artists in Sweden’s contemporary, underground music scene. He has already accrued quite the back catalogue, both as a member of the sensational quartet Dina Ögon and also as a solo artist with eight albums already under his belt. ‘Fastingen-92’ was originally released as a limited-edition vinyl pressing in 2020 on the independent label Sing A Song Fighter Records (the same label that first introduced us to Dina Ögon's music). The album came to our attention after hearing Daniels' solo band performing live at the Stockholm Jazz Club, Fasching. The band featured Love Örsan and Christopher Cantillo of Dina Ögon fame (who also records with the incredible Sven Wunder), and their sensational genre-busting set blew us away. It convinced us that this now out-of-print album needed to reach a wider audience.

‘Fastingen-92’ doesn't sit in one genre, it draws from Daniels's love of South American folk music, soul, Nordic folk music and film soundtracks, resulting in something unique, dreamlike and transformational.

It features 'Idag’, an epic, beautiful, cinematic song that introduces the ethereal vocalist Anna Ahnlund. ‘Idag’ has gained a cult following and Daniel has stated that it was the spark that started the Dina Ögon project. Tracks like 'Annalena' and 'Kristinehamn by Night (for Christopher)' sound like a new club sound that hasn't yet been invented (which Nicola Cruz would spin in his DJ sets), mysterious, hypnotic, and engaging. Other songs like 'Maj (for Tintin)' and 'Picasso' venture into blissed-out Scando-Balearic realms. Daniel's love of nature and the inspiration he draws from the geographic environment of the Swedish countryside can be felt in these tracks, they take you to other places and times and are simultaneously familiar, ancient and alien.


Alongside the collaborations with Anna and Christoper, the album features Josefin Runsteen playing the drums on 'Idag' and Swedish musicians Edvin Nahlin and Ulrik Ordin. The majority of the album was played, recorded and mixed by Daniel. For the Mr Bongo edition, we have added the bonus track 'April’, which was previously only available digitally. ‘Fastingen - 92’ is a truly remarkable record that gets into your soul, so please delve in!

Ausgehend von der nächsten EP der Band und mit Corey Beaulieu vom mächtigen TRIVIUM an der Gitarre für ein Gast-Solo, war "Reborn" ein beeindruckender erster Blick auf das, was in naher Zukunft von REPENTANCE zu erwarten ist! Aber nicht nur mit einer neuen Single, sondern auch mit einer erneuerten Besetzung ist dieser Track der perfekte Einstieg in die Wiedergeburt des aggressiven, modernen Metal Sounds der Band. Die Ankunft der wilden Stimme von Adam Gilley setzt die Messlatte hoch und macht deutlich, dass es sich hier um eine wahrhaftige Reinigung des Sounds der Band auf allen Ebenen handelt.

Das Schweizer Trio The Young Gods wurde 1985 unter der Leitung von Franz Treichler gegründet und wurde als sollte ein radikal-ästhetischer Gegenentwurf zur damaligen konventionellen Rock-Szene werden. Ihr selbstbetiteltes Debüt sollte genau dieses Versprechen erfüllen, doch erst mit dem 1992 erschienen 'TV Sky' sollte ihnen der der internationale Durchbruch gelinge

Die belgische Kultband La Muerte wurde 1983 in Brüssel gegründet und gilt als einer der Wegbereiter des belgischen Underground-Rocks. Consolidated ist ein amerikanisches Kollektiv, das 1988 in San Francisco gegründet wurde. Ihre Texte behandelten Themen wie Vegetarismus, Frauenrechte, Tierrechte, den Kampf gegen Rassismus und Homophobie, den Zweiten Weltkrieg und Holocaust, sowie die Gefahren des Kapitalismus und die Übel des amerikanischen Nationalismus.

Der kanadische Remixer und DJ Tiga ist seit über zwei Jahrzehnten ein fester Bestandteil der internationalen EDM-Szene. Mark Thomas Griffin, besser bekannt als MC 900 FT JESUS, ist amerikanischer Rapper aus Dallas, Texas. Griffin ist ein klassisch ausgebildeter Musiker und Trompeter und bekannt für seine Mischung aus Hip-Hop, Jazz und Elektronik, die in den 90er-Jahren ihrer Zeit weit voraus war. Seine Texte sind oft sozialkritisch geprägt, aber durchzogen von seinem bissigen und bisweilen schrulligen Humor.

Bobby Caldwell's second album, Cat In The Hat, from 1980, is one of his greatest moments and another masterwork of soulful sophistication. Featuring the eternal "Open Your Eyes", brilliantly sampled by J Dilla for Common's "The Light", it's about as essential as records get. Like its eponymous predecessor, it's been out of print for far too long. To finally release the hugely-anticipated reissue is one of our sincerely proudest moments.

Whilst Ned Doheny is known in Japan as "Mr California", native New Yorker Bobby Caldwell has always been "Mr AOR" to his Far-Eastern friends. His distinct charm is an irresistible blend of soul, jazz, and pop influences. He possessed phenomenal songwriting prowess, smooth vocal performances, was both a great soul guitarist and dextrous keyboard player and known for genius chord progressions. It all added up to a multi-layered brilliance entering the studio, and the singular sound he landed on was laced with soulful, sweeping strings and funky horns, touching lightly on disco, while allowing his supple voice to carry the stunning tracks he'd crafted.

Right from the off, it's easy to tell that Cat In The Hat is a deeply special record. It's fantastically produced and incredibly well-rounded, carving its own lane with deep soul, warm jazz and a stunning vocal delivery that really helped Bobby reach out to some big new audiences at the time. Goosebumps at the ready for the rolling power-piano funk of "Coming Down From Love", opening up the album with a track as good as anything Steely Dan or The Doobies ever crafted, with a vocal performance from the heavens. Pumping AOR wonder "Wrong Or Right" is up there with the slick, classy rhythms of prime Ned Doheny whilst the cool, skipping soul of guitar-drenched "To Know What You've Got" is a funky ballad par excellence, with elemental traces of "What A Fool Believes". No bad thing. Closing out Side A, the folk-funk of "You Promised Me" is a bright, soulful strut with a wonderful vocal coda that just builds. Sensational.

The delicate bounce and falsetto self-harmonising of "It's Over" offers a truly delightful introduction to Side B, and serves as a great precursor to what follows. Bobby's dynamite "Open Your Eyes" is likely the reason you're all here. As if he needed it, the eternal J Dilla further immortalised Caldwell in the hip-hop canon with his production of Common’s epochal “The Light,” which heavily samples the magical “Open Your Eyes.” On a post paying tribute to Bobby in March 2023, Questlove claimed that he "got word Brother Bobby loved it". Bobby's original has seen new life even more recently from the likes of Dwele and Kendrick Lamar and deservingly so, as its insistent drums and staccato piano created a modern-soul classic. You'd think that would be hard to follow, wouldn't you? Not so, when you're Bobby Caldwell. Indeed, the horn-drenched stepper "Mother Of Creation" is absolutely ace, and, whisper it, possibly the album's finest track, all funky piano and guitars with horn lines to die for. Exquisite ballad "I Don't Want To Lose Your Love" rounds out the album beautifully.

Bobby sadly passed away on 23rd March 2023, after a long struggle with mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress, due to an adverse effect from a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. The reissue of Cat In The Hat will be available on vinyl across the globe, ensuring that fans of his incomparable talent - and soul music enthusiasts worldwide - can radiate in the deep beauty of this seminal album. Meticulously remastered and cut by both Simon Francis and Cicely Balston respectively, it has been pressed to the highest possibly quality at Record Industry in Holland.

Richmond's INTER ARMA, reigning masters of the slow build, continue to trace a distinctly ambitious trajectory through modern metal. Their impulses tend toward the epic, but never bloat; they meld several styles — doom, sludge, and hard psych — without coming off like dilettantes. This newest full-length, Sulphur English, finds them mining deeper in the proggy organic doom fields that made both Paradise Gallows and Sky Burial so thrilling while expanding further the on the psych-folk strain that made those albums' peaks seem so lofty. New music from the Jellyfish co-founder Four new tracks on LP, plus four from 2020’s independently released Glamping CD & Digital contain eight bonus tracks, five previously unissued Roger Joseph Manning Jr burst onto the music world’s radar as cofounder of Jellyfish in 1990. A Grey Area is the brand new album from GRAMMY nominated Canadian singer-songwriter JP Saxe, featuring singles I Don't Miss You, Everything Ends (feat. This is where it all starts. Without any reminiscing about their former band Operation Ivy, Matt Freeman (bass) and Tim Armstrong (guitar/vocals) blast through their debut without any hints of ska or blatant Clash plagiarizing. On the contrary, this album rips through 15 tracks of high-energy punk that"s accompanied by heavy bass leads and Armstrong"s permanently slurred vocals. And to top it all off, the lyrical content deals with urban blight and the lifestyle of being a public nuisance. Raised in L.A., Gold was formally trained in classical and jazz piano, and the wonders and possibilities of music seeped into him. He continued pursuing music in college, studying jazz piano at nearby CalArts, where he lived in a barn in the remote town of Val Verde, which was at one point known as the "Black Palm Springs." Around this time, he joined the indie- disco band Poolside as a keyboardist/ vocalist, bouncing around the world on tour with them, as well cowriting songs like the disco-rock-fusion epic "Feel Alright." (18 million streams on Spotify and counting.)

Gold teamed up with former Poolside bandmate Filip Nikolic to develop his sound--something like a mishmash of Supertramp and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. With Gold serving as the main writing and performing force of Mirror Tree, and Nikolic producing the set, while co- writing and performing on some tracks as well, Mirror Tree took flight. Gold would demo out songs and at his home studio, and then bring them to Nikolic's studio, where they would work
together to create grooves worthy of ELO for the chillwave generation.

Predominantly known as the musical genesis of eventual home 4 track folk pioneer Linda Smith, The Woods' organically experimental blend of folk style and pop sensibilities epitomize 80s NYC underground music

Included here is their lone 1985 single plus a full album's worth of previously unreleased recordings and a booklet filled with liner notes and ephemera

Named after the fictional character created by James Thurber-- popularized by Ben Stiller in 2013's The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty--Hayes has always channeled his thoughts and emotions through that character, rather than write about himself directly. "I really related to the character of Walter Mitty," says Hayes. "He's known for daydreaming too much and being lost in his head, which has been accurate to the Walter in my songs.

But really it's all just a cover up because back in those days we were still on family computers and I didn't want anybody to see songs by Dustin Hayes on iTunes." The band released a number of EPs and albums before going on something of a hiatus in 2015. But the creative itch was something Hayes couldn't stop scratching, and in 2016 he reformed the band as Walter Etc., the idea being to allow members to come and go as they please, weaving in and out
of records as life and schedules allowed.

Now, though, Walter Etc. have returned with When The Band Breaks Up Again, a new album made by the original three members with a very telling title. "The three of us got into music together via Green Day and more '90s pop-punk and skate punk stuff," explains Hayes.

But after collectively moving across the country from Burlington, VT to Seattle, WA, the scrapped tracks transformed substantially into florid, at times entrancing compositions.

The pulsating "Circles" opens the album with lilted reflections on empathy, breathing in midtempo syncopation with subdued guitar tip- toeing around melodic drumming. supernowhere's cast of Meredith Davey (bass, vocals), Kurt Pacing (guitar, vocals), and Matt Anderson (drums) share a collective ambition for maximum interplay and collaborative writing, materializing cleanly knotted compositions that evoke vivid dreamscapes and the profound epiphanies drawn from them ("The Hand", "Ecdysis"). On upbeat "Dirty Tangle" Davey's voice glides through Pacing's angular arpeggiations, carving her own rhythmic lane with her distinctive, descanting singing style.

"Skinless Takes A Flight" notably would not have come to fruition without the help of engineer Dylan Hanwright (mix. Gulfer, mem. Great Grandpa, I Kill Giants), whom the band met shortly after relocating to Seattle. Hanwright offered up the studio where the album was recorded as a temporary rehearsal and writing space during the pandemic, which in turn gave him intimate familiarity with the music, resulting in an album that was recorded as intimately as it was written. Hanwright helped make the little moments shine too, as heard in the fleeting vocal harmonies on "Augury", or the spiraling chaos in "Basement Window," a further testament to the collaborative, everyone's-input-matters nature that characterizes supernowhere's dizzying yet meditative sophomore record.

Candlebox is gearing up for an unforgettable finale as the legendary Seattle rock band prepares to retire at the end of the year. The group’s Long Goodbye Tour is currently underway, and its final album, The Long Goodbye, will be released later this month. Today, Rhino announces it will spotlight Candlebox’s early years with a 7-LP vinyl boxed set featuring all three studio albums the group released on Maverick, plus more than a dozen previously unreleased recordings that are only available in the collection.

THE MAVERICK YEARS will be available exclusively on vinyl on September 22. The set introduces newly remastered versions of Candlebox (1993), Lucy (1995), and Happy Pills (1998) as double LPs, along with a single album of unreleased outtakes, demos, and more. Candlebox and Lucy will make their North American vinyl debut, while Happy Pills will be available on vinyl for the first time anywhere.

The Maverick Years chronicles the band’s dramatic ascent, starting with its eponymous debut, a quadruple-platinum smash celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Founded back in 2008, the band from Abtsgmünd (Baden-Wuerttemberg) has since grown to become a notable force in the scene, constantly thrilling their growing fan base and the music press with both their musical releases and their energetic live shows. In the time of their existence, NECROTTED have already released four albums with ‘Anchors Apart’ (2012), ‘Utopia 2.0’ (2014), ‘Worldwide Warfare’ (2017) and ‘Operation: Mental Castration’ (2021) and two EPs with ‘Kingdom Of Hades’ (2010) and ‘Die For Something Worthwhile’ (2019). In addition, the quintet has played hundreds of live concerts over the years on smaller and bigger stages in various countries. Now, the new album ‘Imperium’ marks another milestone in the band’s history. The LP is once again designed as a concept album and consistently develops the elaborate storyline of its predecessor in a substantial as well as in a visual way. Also, NECROTTED continue to tread experimental parts in a musical way. Their proven recipe of melodic guitar riffs, thundering blast beats and oppressive slams is joined by more and more black metal elements. Formed in 2009 by guitarist Jari, Helslave are a Rome-based death metal band taking their influences from the 1990s Swedish (melo-)death scene, crafting a perfect mix of brutality and melody.

After releasing a demo and two EPs, their first full length album, ‘An Endless Path’ (on Revalve Records), saw the light on CD in 2015 and got raving reviews by the metal underground press.

The second album from the band, ‘From The Sulphur Depths’ (mixed and mastered by Swedish metal-wizard Dan Swano), came out in 2021 via Pulverised Records, and this album also received enthusiastic reviews from fans and critics.

These Italian youngsters play their music like it’s the thing they need to do to survive; it’s energetic and powerful - this is melodic death metal as it is supposed to be.

Zaoui is the former leader of Therapie Taxi (over 500,000 albums sold, over 900M streams...). Now in its eleventh year and following hype for recent releases from Osaka's Kiji Suedo (Hosek EP & Riot album) and Edinburgh's George T (Roll On, King's Cross single), Edinburgh's Hobbes Music label burrows deeper into experimental ambient terrain with brand new signing Galun. With a discography over 15 years deep, Galun brings no shortage of his own props.

Galun is the solo project of Moscow musician, artist, and producer Sergei Galunenko (currently based in Tallinn), who has performed at numerous prestigious Russian events and collaborated on projects internationally in a career spanning more than 15 years, with a discography to match, turning his attention to myriad styles: IDM, funk, techno, juke, post rock, beatboxing, free improvisation, drone.

“In my project, Galun, I do not use musical instruments,” he explains. “All the sounds are produced with only the use of my voice through beatbox and special vocal skills. Some effects are used to produce electronic sounds.”

Hot on the heels of the new Golos album (out now via Berlin's One Instrument) plus a remix for US collaborator Alek Finn via Nevada's Mystery Circles label, Galunenko’s eighth studio album, Glagol (or Glagolь / Глаголь in Russian) is an ambient collection, recorded between 2013 and 2022. The title is an old Russian word which translates as ‘Speak’.

"This album consists of tracks written in different periods, so it turned out to be diverse," he says. "There are classic ambient tracks, as well as experimental ones in search of new possibilities for voice processing."

Why "glagol"? “Since the music on this album is 90 percent processed voice, it's a form of conversation for me," he reveals, “where I talk about my thoughts and mood, so speak music, while using my voice, is an amazing way of expressing.”

Five singles will be released on streaming platforms only, at intervals, over summer, with the full album released on digital 25.8.23 and a limited edition cassette plus lathe cuts out from 8.9.23.

Whether it's songs like "Girl From Oakland" or the Travis Scott-assisted "Jus Know," PND proves himself one of this generationís most gifted songwriters. He confirms as much with each subsequent record, including slow jams like "Freak In You" from Colours 2. Now that both EPs are side by side, listeners can trace PND’s artistic growth by revisiting these early classics, and for the very first time, fans can listen to this joint project on limited edition white vinyl!

The last decade has seen a seismic shift in how people buy and play music, vinyl has returned to being the dominant physical format with CDs consigned to second fiddle. Things were very different back in 2012 when we compiled and released the eponymous "Cool Runnings" on CD only. The vinyl revival is a belated opportunity to give the band their first long playing record to complement that earlier CD release. Together for a dozen years, Cool Runnings were one of Bristol's longest lasting bands gigging throughout the 1980s, though their failure to gig beyond the West Country meant they were also one of the City's best kept musical secrets. Originally formed in Weston-Super-Mare by Keyboardist Mark Tuck and Guitarist George Condover, they immediately relocated to Bristol and recruited various local musicians including an experienced and talented singer, Winston Minott. Although "Robin Hoods of The Ghetto" was their solitary release, the band regularly recorded material throughout their career and fortunately thanks to the foresight of George and Mark in holding onto various master tapes, Bristol Archive Records were able to release the band's self-titled debut album "Cool Runnings" in 2012. For this vinyl release we've selected eight tracks recorded between 1983 and 1985 at various local studios, and a solitary live track to give an idea of why the band were so popular in person. Although their music leans towards the more mellow end of the market, Lovers Rock, music ideally suited to Winston's soulful voice, the band were more than capable of writing good roots tunes including the excellent "We Must Go Home", "Children of Zion" and "Robin Hoods of The Ghetto". Winston Minott had spent many years touring all over Europe with soul band The Invaders and many songs showcase his vocal talent, but a particular highlight has to be "Playhouse" an alternative recording of which can be found on "The Bristol Reggae Explosion Volume 3". Perhaps proper management would have seen Cool Runnings achieve the success and wider exposure that their combined talents and unique take on reggae undoubtedly deserved. Now thirty years after the members went their separate ways, Bristol Archive Records are pleased to finally release the vinyl album that if things had worked out differently should have appeared in the 1980s

NOAR is a young collective of enthusiasts in electronic music from Dresden.

The aim is to bring locals from dresden and eastern germany on the screen of like minded people. The scene is bursting with talents and audiophiles of several generations and therefore we want to give these talents a platform and make their output accessible to like-minded people.

‘Clone Scratch’ by Friedrich Ernst comes with a distinct electro vibe for build ups in a club and vocals in dreamy watery manner reminds us what’s up to us.

‘locknr01’ by The Isolator gives us a cold industrial goosebumps. A whole factory is under pressure performing that straight electro tune while heavy strings foreshadow its collapse. Here and there screws turn out of the steel beams, soft like bubbles. You have to take cover to avoid being shot.

A3 by Anachronism follows straight up. ‘Lost Control by Distance’ shows us what unconsciousness feels like. In this breakbeat thunderstorm we are sitting in a crashing airplane not quite ready for what's coming next.

With ‘Establishment’ the thunderstorm lightens and suddenly soft sunrays from Planetary Secrets come through the cloud cover. You are dreaming with soft melodies warming up your face while your body is moving to uk influenced breakbeat.

The duo KAWA KAWA is making their release debut with B2. This track clearly serves you on peak times with lovely and rough vocals while its energy easily lets you understand what a desire means.

The EP is finished with a fast electro belter from Otis Key. With it’s minimalistic approach
‘Copy Natural Processes at the Nanoscale’ lets you dive into the grid of existence with your electron microscope. From time to time you can see light coming from underneath with cold strings layered between the rhythm.

The 5th release comes from the hands of ecuadorian mastermind Fauna Extinta aka Nicola Cruz. The First EP under this alias which Nicola uses to explore biology that once was, and now is left as a memory or a myth. Drawing these ideas of creation, biogeography, evolution and extinction, serve as an inspiration for programming and conceptualizing new material of analogue realms, always challenging the mind and spirit.

On its fifth Various Artists EP, On Board Music welcomes the prolific, techno-meets-drum & bass artist ASC for a weighty, stepping collaboration with Semblance. Nuversion contributes a groovy dub-influenced cut that will slide easily into both techno and house sets. On the B-side, the inimitable Polygonia displays her delicate, melodic touch with the sublime “Veluo,” before Morphing Territories closes out the record with a pitch-black modular techno roller. All together, Point E is a well-rounded record which does justice to the range and quality of sounds that On Board has been pushing since 2015.

Rising up from the dark depths of the underworld, Toni Moralez presents his latest project, Echoes From The Grave, via Mutual Pleasure Records.

A four-track serving of truly devilish sounds, Echoes From The Grave brings the listener deep into the world of Toni Moralez; a world of high-flying dance floor deviousness. Within the EP, the Frankfurt based producer coordinates a masterful balance between sinister and groovy, with daring blends of funk-infused basslines, pulsating drum patterns and synths, resulting in an unmistakably mischievous sound.

From the infectiously old-skool nature of DON’T B SHY (TURN AROUND), to the equally infectious hypnosis of I WANNA SUCK UR DICK (LONG N HARD), to the bassline mastery of TAKE OFF UR CLOTHES, which is then propelled into total misbehaviour with (Partiboi69’s Cheek Spreading Rework), which features a contagiously brazen verse from YBM.

Exceeding and succeeding in utmost rebellion, Toni Moralez’s Echoes From The Grave EP is a uniquely daring project, full of devilish personality and character, and one that sees its creator reach newfound heights with his sound; a sound that continues to evolve and develop rapidly.

My Light, My World is a gorgeously slammin’ four track release by Brooklyn-based Ryan Clover on Eris Drew’s Ecstatic Editions imprint. We fell in love with Ryan’s music as we wore out the grooves on his killer 12 inch for ARTS. The tracks featured on My Light, My World are a perfect fit for Ecstatic Editions because, much like Eris’s sets, the tracks are beautiful musically and genuinely emotional, but they also seriously slap and translate powerfully on large sound systems. It is hard to find Big Room records with so much heart, so the label jumped to sign the tracks and prepare the project for release.

Clover’s arrangements on the EP unfold in truly magical and unexpected ways with buildups giving way to gorgeous musical passages. “We Love (We Feel)” is a heartfelt instrumental which sets the tone for the record, while the title tune “My Light, My World” declares boldly “ITS ON!” before heeding to woozy chords and a sax riff that sounds amazing in the mix. Flip the record over for “Here We F***ing Go!” which is a total boast track for deck players but doesn’t lose its sweetness in the process, and the powerfully fun closer “Let Me Tell U Sumthin’” which reminds sweaty dancefloors that “Love Is Special.” Ecstatic Editions hopes you’ll put your needle in the groove and dance hard to one of the season’s sweetest bangers.

Daniel Ögren is one of the key artists in Sweden’s contemporary, underground music scene. He has already accrued quite the back catalogue, both as a member of the sensational quartet Dina Ögon and also as a solo artist with eight albums already under his belt. ‘Fastingen-92’ was originally released as a limited-edition vinyl pressing in 2020 on the independent label Sing A Song Fighter Records (the same label that first introduced us to Dina Ögon's music). The album came to our attention after hearing Daniels' solo band performing live at the Stockholm Jazz Club, Fasching. The band featured Love Örsan and Christopher Cantillo of Dina Ögon fame (who also records with the incredible Sven Wunder), and their sensational genre-busting set blew us away. It convinced us that this now out-of-print album needed to reach a wider audience.

‘Fastingen-92’ doesn't sit in one genre, it draws from Daniels's love of South American folk music, soul, Nordic folk music and film soundtracks, resulting in something unique, dreamlike and transformational.

It features 'Idag’, an epic, beautiful, cinematic song that introduces the ethereal vocalist Anna Ahnlund. ‘Idag’ has gained a cult following and Daniel has stated that it was the spark that started the Dina Ögon project. Tracks like 'Annalena' and 'Kristinehamn by Night (for Christopher)' sound like a new club sound that hasn't yet been invented (which Nicola Cruz would spin in his DJ sets), mysterious, hypnotic, and engaging. Other songs like 'Maj (for Tintin)' and 'Picasso' venture into blissed-out Scando-Balearic realms. Daniel's love of nature and the inspiration he draws from the geographic environment of the Swedish countryside can be felt in these tracks, they take you to other places and times and are simultaneously familiar, ancient and alien.


Alongside the collaborations with Anna and Christoper, the album features Josefin Runsteen playing the drums on 'Idag' and Swedish musicians Edvin Nahlin and Ulrik Ordin. The majority of the album was played, recorded and mixed by Daniel. For the Mr Bongo edition, we have added the bonus track 'April’, which was previously only available digitally. ‘Fastingen - 92’ is a truly remarkable record that gets into your soul, so please delve in!


Following the success of their EPs released last year on Scissor and Thread, Frank & Tony return with another outing of deeper than deep house with a three track EP including an expansive collaborative exploration with Comatonse recording artist Will Long.
The title track, Understanding takes a nod to 90s Chicago deep house with a slow rolling groove set against plush pads and euphoric stabs sure to send dancefloors swirling in the earliest of nights and mornings alike. We Begin, a dreamy trip of emotive soundscapes, kicks things up a notch with jazzy undertones but a drive meant for peak times as it unfolds in moods and grooves for ages.

Killah Priest’s Mystery Channel EP is his first release on 600 Block Records after his acclaimed features on Pugs Atomz’ Test Drive LP in 2022. His contributions to those releases especially Liquid Swords’ “B.1.B.L.E. Wewantsounds is proud to announce the reissue of Ryuichi Sakamoto's third solo album "Hidari Ude No Yume" (Left Handed Dream), originally released in 1981 on the Alfa label. Save for a small-scale Dutch vinyl release in 1981, it is the first time the album's original Japanese edition is released outside of Japan (the European release on Epic Records included significantly different tracks and mixes). Newly remastered from the original tapes by renowned engineer Bernie Grundman, this LP edition comes with original artwork featuring a striking cover shot by famous photographer Masayoshi Sukita (sourced from the original negative), OBI strip and 4-page insert with new introduction by journalist Anton Spice. Ryuichi Sakamoto's third album, "Hidari Ude No Yume" was recorded at the legendary Alfa Studio 'A' in Tokyo during the Summer of 1981. it came after "B-2 Unit" in 1980 and his debut album "Thousand Knives Of" in 1978, the very year Sakamoto was invited by Haruomi Hosono to join Yellow Magic Orchestra alongside Yukihiro Takahashi. In the process, they became global stars as the group rewrote the rules of electronic pop and toured around the world, yet Sakamoto was keen to remain active as a solo artist.
?In 1981, the musician decided to record an album rooted in Pop, following "B-2 Unit" which had a more of an experimental edge and his landmark electro debut from 1978. For this new album entitled "Hidari Ude No Yume," Sakamoto invited British producer Robin Scott, who had had huge hit with 'Pop Muzik,' to co-produce. They entered the Alfa studio in July 1981, accompanied by a handful of musicians. These included his fellow YMO musicians Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi, keyboard programmer extraordinaire Hideki Matsutake who'd been on Sakamoto's first two albums and became YMO's unofficial fourth member, violinist Kaoru Sato, saxophonist Satoshi Nakamura and American guitarist Adrian Belew who'd played with David Bowie, The Talking Heads' "Remain In Light" and more recently, Tom Tom Club’s debut (co-writing 'Genius Of Love').
?Together, they created a fascinating mix of pop, ambient and electronic music with elements of avant garde and traditional Japanese music, the whole firmly rooted in a solid groove. Sakamoto wanted to give the album a spontaneous feel and decided to let ideas flow and evolve organically during the sessions as musicians would develop them together. From the funk of 'Relâché' to the new wave feel of 'Venezia' and the ambient minimalism of 'Slat Dance,' the album is remarkably consistent while displaying a wealth of global influences as shown by the diversity of instruments featured on the credits: Marimba, didgeridu, traditional Japanese instruments such as the Sho and Hichiriki flutes.
?The album was released in Japan in 1981 and Epic Records picked it up for Europe a year later but decided to release it in a significantly altered version. The sequencing was completely reshuffled and two tracks, 'Saru No Ie' and 'Living In The Dark' were completely dropped while three others, ‘Relâché’, ‘Tell 'em To Me’, ‘Venezia’ were heavily remodelled with english lyrics and became 'Just About Enough', 'Once In A Lifetime' and 'The Left Bank'. Last but not least, a new English-sung track, 'The Arrangement,' was added, making the album nine tracks instead of ten for the Japanese edition.
Altogether this International version called "Left-Handed Dream" was a very different album from the Japanese one and although both were successful at the time and further established Ryuichi Sakamoto as a global solo artist, the Japanese edition of "Hidari Ude No Yume" remains largely unknown to international ears.
Wewantsounds is now delighted to release this original Japanese edition for the first time in decades as a single LP together with a 2-LP limited-edition set adding, as a bonus, its fascinating instrumental mix, discovered in the label's vaults a few years ago (Note that 'The Garden Of Poppies', 'Slat Dance' and 'Saru No Ie' are instrumentals but for the consistency of the album we kept them on the Instrumental Mix). Michael Mayer’s IMARA imprint is proud to announce a reissue of German electronica maestro Schlammpeitziger’s second album, Freundlichbaracudamelodieliedgut. Originally released in 1996 by Köln’s A-Musik label, it was the first Schlammpeitziger release to signal to a much wider audience that there was something very special going on in the music of Jo Zimmermann, the mastermind behind Schlammpeitziger. And while he’s subsequently gone on to release a further eight albums for labels like Sonig, Pingipung, and Bureau B, Freundlichbaracudamelodieliedgut is where it really all started for this most singular musician, illustrator and performance artist. Named after the ‘Schlammpeitzger’ or Weather Loach, a fish that breathes through its intestines, moves through substrate, and is surprisingly sensitive to changes in barometric pressure – hence its name – Schlammpeitziger is a similarly remarkable, singular creature.

Like all Schlammpeitziger’s music, Freundlichbaracudamelodieliedgut is overflowing with melody. Using the simplest of set-ups – much of his early music was made with Casio keyboards – Zimmermann magics entire worlds of joy and melancholy. The nine songs here are both rich tributes to the joys of the everyday, and surreal fantasias. “Cosmic Fick” sails out to sea on clouds of taffy and spindrift; “Winterschlafsüßbärentraum” slips and slides around a dream aviary of the mind; the closing “Mango und Papaja auf Tobago” is a diorama spun from springs and Slinkys. Sometimes there are echoes of more peaceable Kosmische music – think Cluster circa Sowiesoso – and both the pacing and the amorphous, tactile textures sometimes recall Chris & Cosey. But Zimmermann’s unique signature is everywhere on Freundlichbaracudamelodieliedgut – simply put, no one else makes music quite as lovely and incandescent as this.

The album’s initial release coincided with an explosion of interest in the music coming out of Köln. This was a unique moment – one where pop, techno, house, ambience, avant-gardism, musique concrete, heavy DSP, and all kinds of other creative phenomena got muddied up in the ‘general jelly’ of Köln’s fast-moving, spirited musical communities. Zimmermann was closely aligned with the music coming out of the A-Musik and Sonig labels – a tightly-knit collection of artists centred around the A-Musik record store, making all kinds of weird and wonderful music, from the electronica of Mouse On Mars to the compositions of Marcus Schmickler, from the electro-acoustics of C-Schulz and Hajsch to the digitalia of FX Randomiz. Zimmermann himself would collaborate with the latter on an album under the name Holosud; friends such as Mouse On Mars and Kompakt’s Reinhard Voigt turned up on Freundlichbaracudamelodieliedgut’s remix EP.

Here, then, is one of the loveliest albums of its era, a pop-electronics album of serious play, one as moistly melancholy as it is melodically riveting. Freundlichbaracudamelodieliedgut is rare beauty indeed.

In the late '70s, The Avengers established themselves as one of the US's preeminent punk bands. Fusing incisive guitar hooks, explosive rhythms and adolescent venom, the group forged some of the most in-your-face songs of the era. Their live shows were legendary, playing up and down the West Coast and even blowing Sex Pistols off the stage at the latter's final performance.

As Byron Coley writes in the liner notes, "Of the best bands of San Francisco's first wave in 1977, The Avengers were by far the coolest and youngest sounding. They roared without irony, as though this were indeed Year Zero (and, for a moment, it was) with history being overwritten by the new. The honesty of their belief was carried by their sound. Originally released in 1983, four years after the band's dissolution, The Avengers' self-titled LP is often referred to as "The Pink Album" for its magenta-hued cover design. Ils Veulent Nous Tuer is Bérurier Noir's 3rd maxi 45tours, the title of which is borrowed from the slogan of a banner unfurled by the mutineers from the roof of Fresnes prison. It was an apt title for the group, too, since at the time of its release, the political and police authorities decided to destabilise them by associating them with the Black War activists and arresting many of the Bérus' entourage.

It's a dark album, with hard-hitting lyrics rooted in the social reality of the time (1988) and tackling subjects as diverse as the problems of access to food for the precarious (On A Faim !), prison repression (Sur Les Toits), the excesses of marginal youth (Mineurs En Danger) and the omnipresence of the military and police in our daily lives (Et Hop !). Born by mistake on a February evening in 1983, Bérurier Noir soon found themselves the driving force behind a vast "Mouv'ment d'la Jeunesse", determined to take control of their lives in the face of a society that was ultra-conservative at the time. Times have hardly changed.

From their first self-produced records distributed by hand to the creation of self-managed labels, from concerts in squats and wild appearances at demonstrations, on the street or in the metro to endless tours, from interviews given to fanzines and free radio stations to unclassifiable appearances in the mainstream media, Bérurier Noir waged the most exciting war of independence in the history of French rock, with just a microphone, a guitar, a drum machine, a few red noses and patched-up theatre masks.

François, Loran and their 'Troupeau d'Rock' gave the last finger to this turbulent, irredeemable raia, committing hara-kiri at the height of their glory, during three final concerts in the heart of Paris in November 1989.

Read any article or comment thread about the Seattle noise-rock outfit GREAT FALLS and you're likely to see descriptors like cathartic, heavy, crushing, and unhinged. Maybe even psychotic. And sure, those are all apt: For over a decade, vocalist/guitarist Demian Johnston and bassist Shane Mehling (who also played together in the early-2000s noisecore band PLAYING ENEMY and the experimental duo HEMINGWAY) have honed their sludgy, overwhelmingly intense brand of heaviness, punctuated by delectably discordant riffs, terrifyingly low, thwacking bass lines, and mesmerizingly tight percussion. In the live setting, too, they’re notorious for a stage presence that is so aggressively confrontational and menacing that Mehling once broke his own arm mid-set.

But the most striking aspect of GREAT FALLS, setting them apart from the murky sea of sludge metal and AmRep-inspired noise-rock bands, is their ability to paint a deeply, utterly human story through an all-out assault on the senses: an art the band has perfected on their fourth full-length album OBJECTS WITHOUT PAIN, out September 15 via NEUROT RECORDINGS.
