"Prudência / Praga", or "Prudence / Plague", is a double single with these two songs that I composed and which were originally recorded by two of my heroes: Maria Bethânia and Alaíde Costa. Curiously, they are two sambas: although I come from the rock and roll scene in Sao Paulo, I wound up writing a samba as if it were the 50s. At the time of my first heartbreak, at the age of 17, I had the record Jamelao canta Lupicínio with the Orquestra Tabajara on my iPod, and I identified with those dramatic sorrows, almost a hundred years old. In a way, I felt that Lupicínio Rodrigues was bloody and direct, like Tarantino, and Nelson Cavaquinho, heavy metal like Black Sabbath. So, I feel it's a compact 45 of sambas but it's also very Rock n Roll to me. Raw and coming from hell. "Prudência" is that internal battle between the passionate side and the controlling side in the head of the former romantic bohemian. I wrote it for Bethânia to record on her album Noturno. Her version turned into a moving bolero. When I saw her singing it live and the audience singing along with her, I couldn't believe it. I cried, hidden in the audience. She said that when she showed the record to her brother, Caetano Veloso, he thought that "Prudência" was some old classic that she had dug up to bring back to light. Nothing could be a greater compliment than this mistake on Caetano's part. "Praga" also has to do with MPB heroes of mine that I never imagined I'd see up close or have any relationship with or any connection with. I was asked to write these lyrics in partnership with the main man Erasmo Carlos for Alaíde Costa's album! Surreal. Like many people, I got acquainted with Alaíde listening to "Clube da Esquina," her singing with Milton Nascimento. And the idea was to do a poisonous cabaret song samba. The curse of a woman who has dumped a drunk. I love it when Alaíde sings "BIBIDA" in her recording of the song_a total legend. I wanted to produce a kind of horror samba recording, because if it wasn't rock and roll, it wouldn't be much fun for me. I went over to Bielzinho's, and we recorded this chorus that explodes with the percussion and the choir of my friends Tulipa, Maria Beraldo, and Luiza Lian. This take of "Prudência" came from the unpretentiousness of recording two live sessions of the song with Fred Joseph with the cameras of the 70s' program "Ensaio" (MPB Especial) by the great Fernando Faro. The video take ended up being so unexpected and raw that it unseated the studio version, and that's what you hear on the single. The idea behind the video is a sort of this temporal mindfuck; like found lost tapes of the MPB Especial from the early the 70s. Same microphones, same cameras, that zoom_time travel. Between Mil Coisas Invisíveis, the end of the cycle with O Terno, and starting the new album process, I decided to take advantage of the respite to release this rock and roll 45 of sambas, without thinking too much or over-producing the thing. Doja Cat’s highly anticipated fifth studio album, “Vie”, is slated for release on September 26th. The 15-track album is rich with retro textures and a sonic background charged by various influences from the 70s and 80s. “Vie” highlights Doja’s own personal evolution and brings audiences into the world of love, life and the mess in between.

Spidergawd sind klassischer Heavy Rock mit gigantischem Melodieverständnis, das teils poppige Züge annimmt. Twin-Gitarren zelebrieren dieses Melodieverständnis exzessiv, duellieren sich und feuern es an und alles steht auf einem solide klassischen NWOBHM Fundament. Für ihr achtes Album in elf Jahren Band-Geschichte haben SPIDERGAWD einen überraschenden Titel gewählt: "From Eight to Infinity" oder "From 8 to _êP". Damit beendet die Band die Verwendung römischer Titel, die sie für ihre vorherigen sieben Alben verwendet hatte. Ansonsten scheint vieles vertraut, wenn sie mit ihrem unverkennbaren SPIDERGAWD-Sound, doppelten Gitarren, dreifachen Gesang und Bariton Saxophon in gewohnt aufwändigem Album Artwork stets wiedererkennbar bleiben. Natürlich bleiben die wichtigsten Referenzen wie Thin Lizzy und Motorhead offensichtlich. Aber während "VII" sich ein wenig an 80er-Jahre-Bands wie Rush, Adrian Smith und Boston anlehnen konnte, ist "From Eight to Infinity" in seinen Referenzen eher bei AC/DC und Cheap Trick auf der einen Seite und Metallica und Black Sabbath auf der anderen. Es gibt scheinbar immer noch keine Anzeichen dafür, dass Spidergawd einen Gang zurückschalten und die Band verspricht nicht nur im Titel eine große Zukunft. All das scheint vielversprechend für die anstehende Tour. Man konnte dies aber auch schon deutlich spüren bei den Support Shows für Judas Priest, ein Band-Traum, der in Erfüllung ging.

MJ Lenderman writes songs that are amorphous and elastic, rising to fill the venue they"re in, generous to accommodate the number of players on stage, less concerned with replicating the studio version than they are with meeting the crowd where they"re at. On And the Wind (Live and Loose!), the Asheville-based Lenderman handles most of the playing, but with The Wind, it"s a multi-headed beast. This live album is culled from sold-out summer 2023 shows on a brief headline run during what some might call a wild-*ss couple of months. It captures a near-euphoric moment in time - dizzying and exhausting and, most of all, having some real true-blue f**king fun with your best friends. It"s 90s college rock meets Americana hootenanny, an electrifying piece of the MJ Lenderman lore that needs to be experienced live with a light beer in-hand - but in the interim, And the Wind (Live and Loose!) does its best to commit the scene to tape.

Mit Run Thru the Cover Crop veröffentlicht das britische Trio Mudlow eine Sammlung von zehn Coverversionen, die stilistisch tief im eigenen Klangkosmos verankert sind. Die Auswahl reicht über Jahrzehnte und Genres hinweg, bleibt dabei aber klanglich konsistent: düster, rau und introspektiv. Mudlow, seit Jahren aktiv an der Schnittstelle von Blues, Jazz und Southern-Gothic, nähert sich dem Material nicht als klassische Coverband. Stattdessen werden die Stücke vollständig in den eigenen Sound überführt - mit reduzierten Arrangements, markanter Instrumentierung und einer Atmosphäre, die an verlassene Landstraßen und verregnete Nächte erinnert. Die Band beschreibt den Entstehungsprozess als eine Art Aneignung: Manche Songs kamen wie selbstverständlich zu ihnen, andere mussten "aus dem Schlamm gezogen" und neu interpretiert werden. Eine halbe Dekade nach der Veröffentlichung ihres Albums "Anak Ko" (2019) hat sich Melina Duterte, alias Jay Som, sich selbst und ihren Erinnerungen geöffnet und Songs geschrieben, die den Klang ihrer Jugend wieder aufleben lassen, und dabei ihre Erfahrung als Musikerin, Produzentin und Performerin einfließen lassen. Americana meets Ennio Morricone: Das fünfte Album von Other Lives

Fünf Jahre nach ihrem Vorgängeralbum "For Their Love" veröffentlicht die Indie-Folk-Rock-Band Other Lives ihr fünftes und passend betiteltes Album "Volume V". Der Titel markiert das neueste Kapitel in der fortlaufenden Geschichte von Other Lives, einem Album von großartiger musikalischer und emotionaler Tiefe. Schon die ersten Töne des Eröffnungsstücks "Mystic" machen deutlich, dass die filmische Bandbreite ihrer Arrangements und Melodien um mehrere dynamische Stufen zugenommen hat, mit einer vollen orchestrierten Reichweite und einer gewaltigen Dramatik in den acht Songs und zwei Instrumentalstücken des Albums. 'Don't Turn Your Back On Me feat. Pauline Taylor' originally featured on US house innovator and Basement Boys co-founder Teddy Douglas's ‘I’m Here’ album in late 2024. It's a true soulful house anthem with funky bass and a glorious vocal that was primed for a A-list remix package. Douglas himself opens up this package with joyous organ chords and soft melodies lighting up the smooth, seductive drums. Swiss DJ and producer Shaka goes next as an artist who has spent decades blending acid, Chicago, and Detroit influences into his own tunes on top labels like Nervous, GooD MooD, and Mister Bear Records. His 12-inch Club version strips things back to go deep and dubby before rebuilding with sunny melodies, expressive organs, and proggy guitar licks that bring joyous energy and real dance floor unity.

Next is NYC DJ Tedd Patterson, a true originator, resident at Ladyfags’ Battle Hymn party and a regular at Horse Meat Disco, Berghain’s Panorama Bar, and Glitterbox, as well as releasing on Strictly Rhythm, Nervous, Defected, and more. His sophisticated remix boasts a warm and bouncy sound, complemented by soulful vocals that lend richness. Then it's seminal NYC favourite Danny Krivit, who is part of the cult Body and Soul crew, is a renowned remixer and editor with hundreds of credits to his name on the most important labels in the scene, and is resident DJ at New York’s legendary 718 Sessions. He draws on his vast experience to edit the original into a playful disco stomper, complete with neat guitar riffs and zippy synths, all bursting with joy as the funky beats roll on and the lush vocals soar to new heights.

Gravitate, in case you didn't know, is yet another label from James Burnham aka Burnski aka Instinct. It's hard to keep up with the man's unrelenting yet brilliant work rate, but worth making the effort to do so if you like minimal, tech and garage. The latest on this fledgling project goes deep and arrives just in time for some balmy Ibiza party nights. 'Gravitate 03-1' is loopy and lazy and invitingly mid-tempo, 'Gravitate 03-2' picks up the pace a touch but is still couched in warm, roomy grooves and soul-drenched chords. The flipside brings more gritty and turbo-powered tech on 'Gravitate 03-3' then a nice silky and blissed out cruiser to close on 'Gravitate 03-4'. Four more functional but well-formed sounds from the brilliant Burnham.

As a DJ, I prioritize three key points when selecting music. I'll introduce this record in relation to those points.
The first is the power of the intro. I'm always grateful for killer tunes that get the floor moving naturally. The A-side, which begins with a catchy trombone, is a
perfect example of that. Natural Roots' performance is so dark that it almost makes you forget that you're in Osaka, the city of laughter.
The second is about the lyrics. Especially in times like these, I want to share a positive message with everyone. Frontman Livity Tabasuke sings straightforwardly
about his feelings for the Earth. It reminds us of the gratitude we often forget in our daily lives. Above all, his voice is soft and soothing.
The third is the 7-inch format. If you're going to take it to a venue, nothing beats a small, light record. The older I get, the more my hips instinctively tell me to.
The dub-inspired instrumental tunes on the B-side are also fantastic, and the album's functionality continues to increase. I also appreciate the addition of the
shinobue flute, a unique instrument unique to Senshu, a renowned Kansai reggae region, which adds to the local feel.
This album, which captures all of these elements, is extremely practical for me. I'm sure I'll be using it for a long time to come. I sincerely hope that the limited
edition of 300 records reaches reggae fans all over the country.

Diese 12“ Maxi Single liefert perfekt produzierte DanceVersionen des weltbekannten Partykrachers, der auf keiner Feier fehlen darf. Ob in Clubs, auf Hochzeiten oder bei Fitness-Events – der „Cha Cha Slide“ bringt jede Tanzfläche in Bewegung.

Mit seinem mitreißenden Beat und den leicht verständlichen Anweisungen ist dieser Track ein absoluter Klassiker des frühen 2000er Dance-Genres und ein Garant für gute Stimmung.

Let’s get funky – der Cha Cha Slide ist zurück!

Demuir marks an inaugural release on Hot Creations with High. Alive. And Dirty., a
diverse four track EP made up of all original records.

The EP opens with Santa and The Elf. A penetrating bassline ratchets up and down, as horn
like synths whir occasionally in the background, alongside tassel-like hi-hats. Up next, the title
track High. Alive. And Dirty. provides stunning contrast. A happy, funk-fuelled number, the
track incorporates disco elements with “positive and soulful vibes”, before Rawness - Beat 3
features a “raw native structure”, bongo sounding drums and tropical vocals to from a well-
rounded, feel-good record. Eerbawdy Wants to Deeezsko rounds off the EP in fine form, with
more disco elements and chiming, emotional keys.

Canadian-based Demuir is a distinctive talent in the electronic music sphere. A prolific
producer, Demuir has already made a home on labels including I’m A House Gangster as well
as Cassy’s Kwench Records, whilst he is soon set to release on Loco Dice’s iconic Desolat
imprint.
