Sunday in the Park with George presents the music from the original 1984 Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s acclaimed musical. Recorded shortly after the show’s premiere, the album features the original cast performing Sondheim’s layered score, inspired by Georges Seurat’s painting "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte".

The cast of the musical is led by Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters, whose performances tell a story about art, love, and artistic legacy across two time periods. The recording includes notable songs such as “Sunday,” “Finishing the Hat,” and “Move On.” Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Sunday in the Park with George is widely regarded as one of Sondheim’s most distinctive works. Produced by Thomas Z. Shepard, the recording won the 1984 Grammy Award for Best Cast Show Album.

The soundtrack of Sunday in the Park with George is available as a limited edition on blue vinyl and includes a 4-page booklet. The 2LP is packaged in a deluxe sleeve with linen laminate finish.

"Recorded Live in Hyattsville, MD 1975-2015. George really had no interest in releasing this record. 'Seeing Is believing, they don't need records, trust me I did that, today they getting it live.' So this record is that, live tapes from the house, recorded on a government issued cassette recorder from National Library Service for the Blind. George calls these his practice tapes for songwriting, and performance warm-up, and never beyond his ears were they intended to travel. 'You just got to see me live if you want to really see me.. so when we get there just plug me in, and point me at that crowd' Last time I saw George they had him wired to the club system. He unplugs his Yamaha keyboard, licks the tip of the power cord and taps a beat on it, finally plugging in, synth lights up, tones all at zero, beats at zero. Then he builds from there, counting blind through a preset one hunderd factory tones and rhythm patterns. 'I gotta start off at zero, and go from there.' After the Marshmellow Band disperesed, he got this Yamaha keyboard, same one he's been playing since 1990, endless scrolling over the same presets, trying to make them fit, tempo down, tapping while telling the story and asking if that feels right to you. 'This always gonna be different live.'

“Knowbody’s Gonna Love You” is a masterpiece vocal demo written by George Semper almost 50 years ago. Lost and almost forgotten, lying dormant on a master tape recorded late 60s. Such a wonderful and fresh song, perfect swing and groove.
Finding this demo completed the puzzle with an unknown one-off press acetate record. That was within Georges collection, now we know he had wrote it. The acetate was titled “Knowbody’s Gonna Love You” Joanne. With a little more investigation Joanne became the lesser known soul singer Joanne Vent. She recorded one LP on the label A&M back in the late 60s, which just happened to be the same time George worked for the label… One off press limited edition x400 copies with heavy card sleeve

Reliance is one of the many labels in Burnski's orbit. Its sixth outing comes from Philip George who seems to be a newly emerging producer. His sound doesn't suggest that, though, as it's an accomplished, fulsome blend of bassline, garage and house that is full of character. 'Bad Thing' brings hefty low-end power with bounce to spare and the slightest of vocal touches to set things aflame. 'Labyrinth' is a little more roomy with space for the pads to breathe and the drums to get you locked in. 'Irresistible' has a cool retro undercurrent with bright neon colours and endless vibes in the garage-house grooves. Another useful weapon.

"Midnight Girl" is a 1985 track by Noe Willer, which was very famous in France. The song was
originally 'tled "Toi, femme publique" before being translated into English as "Midnight Girl" and
arranged in an Italo Disco style by the group Ven Uto. Thus, "Midnight Girl" is an "archaeological"
track that has been appropriately re-envisioned in a modern key by Raff Todesco, George Aaron &
Anita Campagnolo.
On the vinyl's B-side, you'll find a new version of "Heaven," a 2007 track, with modern sounds and
re-sung by George and Anita

The score sees Coates reaching for a suitably lavish palette of strings, from symphonic to puckered chamber arrangements, sometimes underlined with Burial-esque beats and choral pads, as in ‘France’, or alloying the two in a way recalling Nicholas Britell’s ‘Succession’ soundtrack. There’s enough harpsichord to make the ruffed-necks swoon, and Coates takes the license to distort sounds to taste when necessary, resulting a clear highpoint in his work, both solo and for film

In between the Golden Earring albums 'Seven Tears' and 'Together', both guitarist George Kooymans and singer Barry Hay worked on solo material. Kooymans’ album 'Jojo' was released in December 1971 and was the result of a sparkling and short period of recording sessions at the Phonogram Studio in Hilversum, where he recorded a collection of songs with some of the best Dutch session musicians – among guitarists Eelco Gelling (Cuby + Blizzards) and Hans Hollestelle and saxophone player Bertus Borgers (Sweet d’Buster). Thanks to the spontaneous recordings, the personal lyrics - with help from George’s friends Bruce Kirkman and Jerry Voisin - and Harry van Hoof’s string arrangements, 'Jojo' achieved a cult status and became a collectors' item soon after release.

The album has been remastered from the original Phonogram Studio master tapes and includes a recent interview with George Kooymans about the making of 'Jojo'.

'Jojo' is available as a limited numbered edition of 750 copies on light green coloured vinyl and includes an insert.

The album’s overdubs were completed by his son Dhani, session drummer Jim Keltner, and longtime friends and collaborator Jeff Lynne. Original soundtrack for the Nippon Television drama "Matsuribayashi ga Kikoeru" starring Kenichi Hagiwara (Shoken) aired in 1977. The album features two theme songs, "Dream Racer" and "Stranger", arranged in various arrangements.

Written and arranged by Katsuo Ohno, who has worked with The Spiders, PYG, Takayuki Inoue Band, and has provided music for "Taiyo ni Hoero!", "Kizudarake no Tenshi", and the popular anime "Meitantei Conan" which began in 1996. The music is performed by George Yanagi and the NADJA Band, known for backing Shoken, and this pinnacle of Japanese groove is finally being reissued on vinyl.

Liner notes written by lyricist Ryo Shoji (summer 2024) for this reissue are included.

The commentary at the time said "A record that attempts to reproduce the nostalgic George Kawaguchi Big Four", but that is by no means a simple nostalgic work. "Lover" and "Charade" are reminiscent of the Big Four of those days and are undoubtedly fun, and the songs that skillfully incorporate modern techniques and musicality, such as the sophisticated groove of "Tuesday Samba" and the exotic beat of "Vietnam", are also attractive. This is a thrilling piece that conveys the charm of jazz, past and present, with a deep performance that only a veteran can have.

On White Rabbit CTI boss and producer Creed Taylor placed George Benson in lavish Spanish arrangements by Don Sebes- ky. The title track “White Rabbit” remains strong even without the lyrics, while “California Dreaming” sounds relaxed and warm with its Andalusian harmonies. On the closer, “El Mar,” Benson comes through with some truly inspiring playing. This was Benson’s first release on CTI (Beyond The Blue Horizon was released on its subsidiary Kudu Records) and the debut of guitarist Earl Klugh. George Adams (1940-1992) was a passionate tenor-saxophonist who always had his own intense sound and personal approach to playing jazz. Paradise Space Shuttle is his third album as the sole leader and includes the set standard ""Send In The Clowns"", ""Metamorphosis"", a tribute to Charlus Mingus, and the album opener ""Intentions"". The line-up for these recordings included Ron Burton on piano, Don Pate on bass, Al Foster on drums and Azzedin Weston on percussion. Paradise Space Shuttle includes newly written liner notes by music journalist Scott Yanow.

After an early start in doo-wop fronting the Parliaments, George Clinton helmed Funkadelic and Parliament, related hard funk projects at the border of the form’s acceptability, employing crazed concepts, outrageous costumes, and drug-addled references to outer space. City Gates is the album by the George Adams-Don Pullen Quartet released in 1983. The quartet consisted of George Adams on tenor sax and flute, Don Pullen on piano, Dannie Richmond on drums, Cameron Brown on bass, and together they recorded five jazz-bop tracks. All tracks were either written by George Adams or Don Pullen, except for the traditional African American spiritual song “Nobody Knows The Trouble I’ve Seen” which was arranged by Adams and Pullen.

Currently celebrating ten years of releasing music on vinyl & cassette and following hype for recent releases from Moscow (via Tallinn)’s Galun (glagol album) and Osaka's Kiji Suedo (Hosek EP & Riot album), Edinburgh's Hobbes Music label continues to mine a leftfield seam with this brand new album from singer/songwriter George Demure (Tirk, Output) aka DJ/producer George T (Greco Roman, Optimo), better known as George Thomson to his mum. And it’s another absolute peach if you have a taste for post-club sounds of a more leftfield persuasion.

This is the follow-up to his 'The Record Store' EP which came out via George's own All Noise imprint in 2021. He has also released the Roll On, King's Cross single via Hobbes Music under his George T moniker last November (plus various bits for the Paradise Palms and Ramrock labels in the interim).

“It all began with the Record Store EP in 2021,” explains George. “Limit my options. No samples, one drum machine, two analog synths (mono and poly), computer simply to record. This A&M/CTI debut album by George Benson signaled the arrival of a true star in the jazz scene. Creed Taylor signed Benson immediately after Wes Montgomery's passing in 1968 -- he was being groomed for it by Verve's house producer, Esmond Edwards, and arranger, Tom McIntosh, before he ever came to CTI. Taylor paired Benson with arranger Don Sebesky (who had done plenty of work on Montgomery's A&M sides) and engineer Rudy Van Gelder. Herbie Hancock and Ron Carter (both members of the Miles Davis Quintet with whom Benson had guested earlier that year), bassist Richard Davis, and pianist Hank Jones were all guests.
