It takes grindin' to be a king and Houston's Mike Jones' work ethic of "You Don't Work, You Don't Eat, You Don't Grind, You Don't Shine" had his phone blowing up in 2005 with the release of his major label debut Who is Mike Jones? on Asylum/Swisha House/Warner Records. Mike Jones started rapping in the early 2000s and he released a couple of independent albums on his own label Ice Age Entertainment before linking up with Michael "5000" Watts of Swisha House. He recorded the underground single "Still Tippin" with Texas contemporaries Paul Wall and Slim Thug, which appeared on the Swisha House compilation The Day Hell Broke Loose 2. The song, full of southern hip-hop slang and braggadocio, was an ode to the classic car culture in Houston, Texas, and could be heard bumpin' out the trunks of cars nationwide with its heavy bass and classical string loops. Before the release of Who Is Mike Jones? girls would ignore him, but after the release of "Still Tippin" they were all up on him, which led to the release of the single "Back Then" where he shouted out his real cell phone number that played a major part in the marketing and promotion of the album.You could call 281-330-8004 and get his voicemail and leave a message, but sometimes he would answer, which led to spreading the word of Mike Jones' debut album. "Back Then" was also a top-selling ringtone because (back then) you had to buy and download ringtones, unlike today. Mike truly went viral before going viral was even a thing. After dropping the two hit singles, Who Is Mike Jones? was released on April 19th, 2005, and would sell over a million copies that year, leading to certified platinum status. Twenty years later, this Texas Rap classic still holds up with features from other H-Town legends including S.U.C.'s Big Moe (RIP),Bun B, Paul Wall and Lil Keke. Juicy J & DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia added their Memphis touch to the "Got It Sewed Up Remix" and the album ends with a heartfelt dedication to Mike Jones' late Grandmother on "Grandma". Zu Bookends erscheint ein Video von Caity Arthur. "Im Video geht es um Tod und Absolution, wie der Tod eines der wenigen sicheren Dinge im Leben ist, der große Gleichmacher, nolens volens", so Arthur. "Es untergräbt aber auch das traditionelle Narrativ vom Tod als verzweifelte Leere und porträtiert ihn mit seinem halluzinogenem Sixties-Ensemble stattdessen als euphorische Übergangserfahrung samt TV-Pop-Performance und Taschenspielertricks, während Megs Lyrics den Tod in all seinen Formen beschwören." Für "Scratch It" hat Meg Remy mit Gitarrist Dillon Watson eine Band zusammengestellt - ursprünglich für einen einmaligen Festivalaufrtitt, aufgrund der guten Chemie schließlich gleich für ein ganzes Album. Mit Watson an der Gitarre, Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs, Loretta Lynn) am Bass, Domo Donoho am Schlagzeug und Jo Schornikow und Tina Norwood an den Keys entstand "Scratch It" innerhalb von zehn Tagen in Nashville. Zwischendurch schaute auch Mundharmonika-Legende Charlie McCoy vorbei, der bereits mit Elvis, Bob Dylan und Roy Orbinson gearbeitet hatte und seine Künste für einige Songs einbrachte. Die Authentizität der analog produzierten Songs ist unmittelbar, ein Zeugnis der Chemie zwischen allen Beteiligten, Remy klingt relaxt wie kaum je zuvor. Das Album verwebt Country, Gospel, Garage Rock, Soul, Disco und Folk, während sich Remy in den Lyrics mit Patti Smith auseinandersetzt, mit junger Liebe, Mutterschaft, Macht-Dynamiken, der Kraft von James Brown, verstorbenen Weggefährten, dem Goldrausch am Yukon - oder dem eigenen nach einer Tequila-getränkten Nacht. Dabei lässt sie wie immer auch ihren beißenden Humor spielen.

Horizontaler Gentransfer" beschreibt die Übertragung genetischer Informationen bei den Mikroorganismen jenseits normaler Paarungsbarrieren .Die Band "Horizontaler Gentransfer" (HGT) ist eine Experimental Art Pop, K-Punk- Kollektiv, das von sechs (!) Künstlerinnen (Mizi Lee, Seonha Park, Jerry Ahn, Yun Park, Lilian Gonzalez, Hanseo Oh) mit Migrationshintergrund im Mai 2022 in Stuttgart initiiert wurde. Dem Prinzip der horizontalen Übertragung folgend, übertragen sie dies auf u.a. Memes, Posts, Chats- oder K-Pop-Kulturen, die sich über Smartphones oder iPads verbreiten und suchen dabei nach einem experimentellen Weg, um mit Text, Musik und visuellen Elementen zu Mode, Infektion und Migration zu forschen. HGT hinterfragt nicht nur kulturelle Normen, sondern reagiert direkt auch auf Stereotypen oder rassistische Angriffe. Direkte Fragen werden gestellt, energetische Aussagen getroffen und Stimmungen eingeholt die mal aggressiv, mal entspannt oder mit einem Augenzwinkern dargeboten werden. HGT sind eine Wundertüte verschiedener Genres und Stile, von Punk bis Poetry aber auch Schlager und Elektro gibt es zu entdecken. 'Everything Possibbong' ist das zweite Album und HGT lassen sich weiterhin nicht eine Schublade stecken. Das Album verbindet traditionellen koreanischen Schlager mit elektronischem Punk und einer guten Prise urban contemporary Pop. Die erste Single 'From Kita' zeigt wie sich Vielseitigkeit in Sinuswellen ausdrückt ohne aus der Reihe zu tanzen. Ein minimalistisches 808 pattern, ein vorantreibendes Keyboard und eine Telefonhörer Stimme mäandern durchs Intro und wandeln sich schließlich mittels Break in einen dadaistischen Pop Song der am ehesten an OOIOO denken lässt, sonst aber keinerlei Vergleichsfläche bietet. The new album sees Statham, a member of Post Punk band B-Movie, and co-writer with a host of well-known artists including Dido, Kylie, Peter Murphy and Simple Minds retain his principal role in the project as both producer and songwriter. Once again, Shepard's prose plays a key role with `Hawk Moon', the companion volume to `Motel Chronicles', an additional source of inspiration. Jim Kerr from Simple Minds continues his involvement with 3 tracks as does Welsh songwriter and multi-instrumentalist The Anchoress. David J from Bauhaus/Love and Rockets is also a featured artist along with Gabriella Cilmi turning in 2 dark and beguiling tracks. The new and third album from the fabulous Split Squad, an All-Star band founded by Michael Giblin - producer (notably of The Fleshtones) and the band's bassist and songwriter - joined by the now late Clem Burke (Blondie), Keith Streng (The Fleshtones), Eddie Muñoz (The Plimsouls), and Josh Kantor (The Baseball Project). A Power Pop album and a brilliant follow-up to the already highly acclaimed first two records of the band. From classy garage rock to masterful power pop craftsmanship, Less of Everything is already establishing itself as a major classic and a must-have in the band's discography.

Composer Corneliu Cezar (1937-1997) was a distinctive personality within the Romanian post 1960 avantgarde: a visionary of music, a thinker and a prophet, a richly gifted artist also active with writing, poetry, painting and astrology. Cezar was an activist rediscovering the natural resonance of sound within a different historical context and he embraced the recovery of authenticity as a reaction against the artificialized culture of serial doctrines. When, after 1975 the spectral music trend became official in Paris, with much fuss and remarkable support from musicologists, nobody knew that this trend has already been practiced by a small group of Romanian composers lead by Corneliu Cezar for ten years. The four electro-acoustic pieces on this album (privately released on CD in Romania in 2000), recorded with little means between 1967 and 1975, display the incredibly strong ideas of a truly visionary artist. Everything Corneliu Cezar has done during his short earthly life bared the shade of authenticity.

Patron saint of Bristol’s self-destructive improv idols EP/64 as well as post-feminist chamber collective Viridian Ensemble, avant-terror duo Harrga and constant collaborator with the likes of *breathe* Moor Mother, Valentina Magaletti, Mariam Rezaei, Vincent Moon, Maxwell Sterling, Ossia, Ben Vince.
And isn’t it such a strange release? And won’t people be surprised? Endless Summer is grubby and heartfelt, defiant and hopeful, with flecks of warped reggae on E-System nudging the freeform dream balladry of A Feeling and Sunday Morning, Kode9 & Spaceape-worthy dread poetry of Close Ur Eyes next to anthemic electro-crush of Overdrive. Even to those that know her well, and EVERYONE with their belly in the Bristol underground knows her, Endless Summer is a revelation. Perhaps the apex of the known Dali-verse……where her live gigs have boiled with an experimental volcanic vocal force, Endless Summer is twisted, syrupy, sultry, POP.

Hampus Lindwall’s Brace for Impact might just be the first album of post-internet pipe organ music. It’s an album of five new contemporary classical compositions, all performed by the composer himself on the 78-stop grand organ at St. Antonius church in Düsseldorf, Germany. Featuring the electric guitar of SUNN O)’s Stephen O’Malley on the title track. A highly visceral forty-five minutes of music with undeniable elemental power.
As 2024 came to a close, in New York and Paris chords rang out from thirty-two-foot pipes for the first time in half a decade. Following twin fires in 2019, the grand organs at the cathedrals of St John the Divine and Notre-Dame, amongst the largest instruments in their respective countries, had finally been restored. The news was justly celebrated in the international press, but the incidents were far from isolated. In England, the city of Norwich hailed the return of its cathedral’s five manual organ in 2023 and just two years earlier York Minster heralded a “once-in-a-century” refurbishment of its own 5,000-plus pipe instrument. Meanwhile, further organ restoration projects are ongoing at churches in Liverpool, Bradford, Bristol, Winchester, and Washington DC. Significant as they are to their respective communities, they’re also emblematic of a wider rebirth for one of humanity’s oldest musical instruments.
The organ is having a moment. Over the last few years, albums by the likes of Kali Malone, Ellen Arkbro, Anna von Hausswolff, FUJI|||||||||||TA, and Áine O’Dwyer, as well as projects in the visual arts by Sollmann Sprenger, Cory Arcangel, Massimo Bartolini and many other talented artists, have given a new prominence to the old ecclesiastical stalwart. The pipe organ bears historical traces which stretch back to the third century BC. But that doesn’t mean it can’t speak to a contemporary moment haunted by algorithms and networked culture. Hampus Lindwall’s Brace for Impact is an album of organ music for today.

The Secret Goldfish release their first album in 25 years in June 2025 - Empty Holster has been in process since 1996 when vocalist Katy Lironi started collating songs by her favourite songwriters Vic Godard, Davy Henderson and James Kirk (the idea for Empty Holster was a covers album of their songs).
The tracks have been recorded extremely sporadically over the past decades and were finally finished off at Green Door studio and mastered by Samuel Joseph Smith.

Empty Holster also features covers of songs by Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham, Port Sulphur, The Beach Boys, and a long-lost Goldfish collaboration with Adventures in Stereo's Jim Beattie, Elevator, which was missing for 15 years, presumed lost. Musical guests appearing on Empty Holster include Mick Slaven (The Bluebells), Campbell Owens (AztecCamera), James Kirk (Orange Juice), Vic Godard (Subway Sect), Francis Macdonald (Teenage Fanclub), and Katy and Douglas's daughter Amelia Lironi (QUAD90). The album is pressed on Goldfish Orange vinyl at Seabass Vinyl in Scotland.

Mit rauem Ton und brachialen Texten stellen die Ruhrpottpunks "Harte Worte" mit Ihrem neuen Album "So wie Ihr uns kennt?!" die Gesellschaft und die Musikszene in Frage. Provokation mit Ohrwurmgarantie die wachrütteln soll und den Standpunkt der Band noch einmal in den Vordergrund rückt. Das neue Album besticht unter anderem durch klare Aussagen und deutliche Stellungnahmen gegen gewisse Umtriebe aus Teilen der Deutschrockszene - unterlegt von eingehenden Gitarrenriffs, dem typischen kollektiven Singalongs der Band und dem dadurch mitreißenden United. Man kann den Punkrock nicht nur hören sondern buchstäblich fühlen. Laut. Direkt. Bedingungslos. Weiterhin gibt es klare Abgrenzungen zu den alten Alben, da neue Stile und musikalische Veränderungen in "So wie Ihr uns kennt?!" integriert wurden. Es finden sich bei "Kopie" Ska-Gitarren wieder, "Geliebt, Gehasst" wurde zusammen mit "Das weiße Rauschen" eingesungen und an ein komplett englisches Lied hat sich die Band diesmal ebenfalls herangetraut. Das Album befindet sich durchgängig in Bewegung und sorgt beim geneigten Hörer durchweg für Überraschungen. Dennoch sind sich "Harte Worte" treu geblieben. Mit erhobenen Fäusten und gezücktem Mittelfinger machen die Jungs keinen Hehl daraus, was und wer ihnen nicht passt und sich besser nicht in den Weg stellen sollte. Punkrock der bewegt, Spaß macht und sich nicht zensieren lässt. So kann man das neue Album der Jungs wohl am besten umschreiben. "So wie Ihr uns kennt!?" - nicht ganz! Langweilig können alle. Bosconi Records is proud to present Tangled Waves, a dynamic split EP that brings together the sonic identities of two emerging Italian talents—Roberto Manolio and Giuseppe Angeloro—each making their debut on the label.

Like currents colliding below the surface, Tangled Waves reveals a natural convergence—where distinct styles drift together in subtle harmony.

The A-side features Roberto Manolio, known for releases on Cosmological, Nugs on Board, and Musek Records. He kicks off with Deeply Red, a UK tech house-influenced stomper driven by a fat, aggressive bassline and dreamy delayed chords. A haunting Russian voice sample adds a cinematic, retro-futurist edge—like a lost transmission from a 60s space mission. Next up is Machine City Road, a raw, gritty weapon where grinding synths and sharp textures drive the track forward with the force of a distorted electric guitar. It’s dark, edgy, and full of tension. On the B-side, Giuseppe Angeloro—previously featured on Cimedirapax, Havalon, and Polarity Records—brings a touch of italo-flavored euphoria with A Night Among the Trees. Lush arpeggios and nostalgic synth lines conjure up a dreamy atmosphere, building into an epic, cinematic anthem. Closing the EP is Mind Trip, a gentle, psychedelic excursion built on floating melodies, delayed vocals, and hazy atmospheres. It’s a reflective, emotionally rich track—perfect for the final moments on the dancefloor. Tangled Waves offers a meeting point of two unique sonic voices, flowing along parallel—but deeply connected—paths, resulting in four essential weapons built to last.

The emblematic Chilean producer Camilo Gil tells a story of life through ink and sound. In its original version, the creativity between bass, MPC, garage influences, and Break Deep elements gives us a unique work.
In the alternate version, the legendary MARK AMBROSE takes us on a journey through space, with captivating voices, tones, and his signature sound.

On the B-side, the remix by Detroit legend GARI ROMALIS showcases the soulful, emotional side of the Motor City, featuring pianos and a hypnotic bassline that brings us closer to the 313. Closing the EP is the energetic deep jazzy minimal style of AUDIO WERNER, a track designed for the dancefloor, with a playful swing between vocals and bass, complemented by a hypnotic string that makes us want to dance at any moment.

This limited-edition vinyl release brings together Lofi Girl and Assassin’s Creed Shadows in a legendary collaboration.

The album features 20 lofi remixes inspired by the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Original Game Soundtrack. Familiar melodies like Ezio’s Family have been reimagined as softer, more atmospheric tracks - ideal for unwinding, studying, or finding focus.

Here’s another gem from the Made Up Records catalog, crafted by none other than Laserdance legend Michiel van der Kuy. Once again, Vintage Pleasure Boutique delivers a beautifully remastered original, breathing new life into this classic cut. But that’s not all. Thanks to the access to the original studio stems, the release also features four brand-new remixes. A.P. Mono, Electro Potato, Bellatrix, and Chris van Buren all stayed true to the essence of the original production, but each one gave “Let Me Free” a fresh twist – tweaking, polishing, and reimagining it to build a smooth bridge between the old school vibe and modern dancefloor energy, all while giving a respectful nod to today’s DJs.

Jens Brachvogel & Tilo Ciesla aka Studio 54, aka Dole & Kom is probably the most productive producer duo of German underground House Music. They did Disco House with heavy 808 & 909 beats in the mid 90s already – long before it stormed the German dance charts. They've remixed legends like Green Velvet, Black Box or Mateo & Matos or even pope heroes like Marc Almond. Their tunes came out on top tier labels like Nervous, Relief Records, Force Tracks and of course local Formaldehyd and BCC Music from Berlin.
Their Studio 54 project started in 1997 and quickly became their most popular moniker.
Due to copyright restrictions they had to rename it „Studio 45“, a name they're still using today. On their „Vol. 2“ record in 1997 they were inspired by Disco and Boogie tunes of the 70s and early 80s that indeed were popular at the famous New York night club.
What makes their tunes unique to this day is their hypnotizing, druggy approach to the original tunes. You never get a cheap, commercial copy, you'll get a mesmerizing mind trip back to the glory days of Disco, seasoned with the best classic drum machines got in them.
