Tulipa Ruiz is a Latin Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and illustrator from Sao Paulo. Born in a family of musicians (her father, Luiz Chagas, played with Itamar Assumpçao, and her brother, Gustavo Ruiz, is her longtime producer), she followsthe footsteps of the Vanguarda Paulista and offersa bold, genre-bending sound. Thelonious Monk, considered one of the greatest Jazz pianists of all time, recorded Underground in '67-'68. It's the last recording with the Thelonious Monk Quartet (Larry Gales on bass, Charlie Rouse on tenor sax, and Ben Riley on drums) and one of the last album he made for Columbia.

What makes Underground special is that unlike his other Columbia recordings, four out of the seven songs were newly composed and recorded. The album cover depicts Monk as a member of the French Resistance and is meant as an homage to Pannonica "Nica" de Koenigswarter. She was a member of the aristocratic Rothschild family and became a patron of leading jazz musicians, hosting jam sessions, driving them to gigs and sometimes even help out with paying the rent. In 1969 the cover won a Grammy for Best Recording Package.

On her new album, Land of the Forgotten, Brit Taylor takes us to her much discussed and misunderstood homeland, Appalachia, with songs that reveal the complex heart and complicated people of the place. Taylor is an accomplished singer-songwriter who has been performing professionally since she was a child. She has always taken the bull by the horns; Taylor has spent seven nights a week singing on Broadway, cold-called record execs, and she even formed a cleaning business to help finance her first album, Real Me, on which Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) co-wrote five of the songs. Only three years later she found herself being produced by two of the most sought-after producers in Nashville: Grammy winners Sturgill Simpson and David Ferguson. Davidsen hat eine enge Beziehung zur Met, wo sie seit ihrem Debüt 2019 regelmäßig in Hauptrollen von
Tschaikowski, Wagner, Strauss, Verdi, Puccini und Beethoven auftritt. „Ich betrachte die Met als mein
zweites Zuhause“, sagt Davidsen. „Aber um so etwas gebeten zu werden, war etwas ganz Besonderes.“
Zu den Höhepunkten zählen Wagners „Dich, teure Halle“ aus Tannhäuser, Amelias Arie aus dem dritten Akt von Verdis ”Un ballo in maschera” und Puccinis „Vissi d’arte“. Dazu kommen Lieder von Schubert
sowie Musik von Grieg und Sibelius als Hommage an Davidsens skandinavische Herkunft.
Die Veröffentlichung folgt auf Davidsens gefeiertes Wagner-Album ”Der fliegende Holländer”, welches den
Gramophone Award 2025 für die beste Opernaufnahme gewann und von Kritikern weltweit hoch gelobt
wurde.

John Lee Hooker is widely recognised as one of the true giants of the blues, along with Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and Howlin' Wolf. Hooker is often called the "King of the Boogie" and his driving, rhythmic approach to guitar playing has become an integral part of the blues' sound and style that perpetuated the UK's rhythm and blues scene of the '60s. Presented here is one of John Lee Hooker' s finest album, The Big Soul of John Lee Hooker, recorded in Chicago in 1962.

In a career that spanned some forty odd years, a pivotal point of success came with his 1989 album The Healer, which featured collaborations with Carlos Sanatana, Bonnie Raitt, Charlie Musselwhite, and Los Lobas. The album expanded his audience beyond the blues idiom, earning him his highest Billboard album chart success (#62) his first Grammy Award; all of this at the grand-old-age of 73. For those not familiar with Hooker's earlier work, the Big Soul of John Lee Hooker is an excellent starting point.

As one of the Netherlands' most famous saxophonists and the daughter of Hans Dulfer, Candy Dulfer needs no introduction. The self-taught musician started playing at age six and already made her first recordings in 1981, at 11 years old. In 1990 she released her hit album Saxuality (selling more than a million copies worldwide) for which she received a Grammy nomination, and followed this record up with Sax-a-Go-Go, Big Girl and, in 1997, she released For The Love Of You.

For The Love Of You is a continuation of the funk, R&B, and dance path she started following. But make no mistake: Candy's blowing is as fierce, gritty, direct as ever, providing a striking juxtaposition. Like on Big Girl, Dutch vocal mainstays Trijntje Oosterhuis and Berget Lewis are featured again. The album features the songs "Saxy Mood" and "Smooth" and reached #8 on Billboard's Top Contemporary Jazz albums for the year 1998.

Since the first volume in February 2018, the J Jazz compilation series has showcased some of the most creative, inspired and sought-after jazz recorded in Japan during a golden period spanning the 1960s to the 1980s. Illustrating the richness and versatility of the composers and musicians on this collection, the music spans a wide yet coherent range of styles: samba, funk fusion, modal, spiritual, post-bop and bossa all combine to present an aural portrait of a jazz scene that was constantly moving and shifting its multiple musical centres of gravity. Mastered at the Grammy-nominated Carvery studio in London, many of the tracks featured are reissued for the first time, including mega-rare private press cuts from the Yasuhiro Kohno Trio, Masaru Imada Trio, and Hideyasu Terakawa Quartet. modernen State-Of-The-Art-Verfahren von der Patina der letzten fünf Dekaden Jahre befreit und von
Grammy-Gewinner Hans-Martin Buff (Peter Gabriel, Prince etc.) in einen brandneuen Mix umgesetzt,
zusätzlich wurde das Original-Artwork um zahlreiche unveröffentlichte Fotos sowie jede Menge spannender
Making-Of-Anekdoten ergänzt. Ein Kultalbum erstrahlt in neuem Glanz!
„Es ist spannend, nochmal zurückzuschauen und sich daran zu erinnern, wie unsere verrückte Reise damals

Aufgenommen am 25. Juni 1962 live im Tsubo, einem Café in Berkeley, Kalifornien, zeigt „Full House“
den legendären Gitarristen Wes Montgomery auf dem Höhepunkt seiner Kreativität, begleitet von einem
beeindruckenden Ensemble mit dem Tenorsaxophonisten Johnny Griffn und dem Wynton Kelly Trio, das
durch seine Zusammenarbeit mit Miles Davis gereift war – dem Pianisten Wynton Kelly, dem Kontrabassisten Paul Chambers und dem Schlagzeuger Jimmy Cobb.
All About Jazz beschrieb das Album später als „einen Vorgeschmack auf das, was kommen und viel zu früh
verloren gehen sollte“, und die Darbietung wird diesem Versprechen gerecht. Was den Umfang angeht,
ist auf „Full House“ für jeden etwas dabei. Montgomerys lyrische Zurückhaltung kommt in „I’ve Grown
Accustomed to Her Face“ zum Tragen, während der mitreißende Bebop von „Blue ’N’ Boogie“ und der
lateinamerikanisch angehauchte Groove von „Cariba“ die ganze Bandbreite des dynamischen Zusammenspiels der Gruppe offenbaren. Untermalt von einem begeisterten Live-Publikum bleibt „Full House“ eine
der zugänglichsten und mitreißendsten Aufnahmen Montgomerys.
Diese Neuauflage des Albums erscheint als Teil der Original Jazz Classics Series auf 180-Gramm-Vinyl,

Der Pianist Vince Guaraldi und der brasilianische Gitarrist Bola Sete begegneten sich zum ersten Mal
während eines Aufenthalts im Club Trois Couleurs in San Francisco – eine schicksalhafte Begegnung, die
eine fruchtbare kreative Partnerschaft begründete, die schließlich West Coast Jazz mit Bossa Nova und
afro-brasilianischen Rhythmen verbindet.
Das 1964 aufgenommene Album „From All Sides“ war die zweite Zusammenarbeit des Duos (insgesamt
gab es drei) und gilt als eines ihrer entspanntesten und fröhlichsten Werke. Das Album ist mühelos und
eskapistisch und gleitet von einer federleichten Interpretation von „The Girl from Ipanema“ zum temperamentvollen Galopp von „Ballad of Poncho Villa“.
Während Guaraldi vor allem für seine zeitlosen Peanuts-Soundtracks gefeiert wird, werden langjährige Hörer
hier melodische Fäden erkennen, die später in diesem beliebten Universum wieder auftauchten. Adaptionen
des wehmütigen „Menino Pequeno da Bateria“ (später überarbeitet als „Little Drummer Boy“) und des
unbeschwerten „Choro“ erschienen später jeweils auf „A Charlie Brown Christmas“ (1965) und „He’s Your
Dog, Charlie Brown“ (1968).
Diese Neuauflage des Albums erscheint als Teil der Original Jazz Classics Series auf 180-Gramm-Vinyl,
gepresst bei RTI, mit vollständig analogem Mastering von den Originalbändern bei Cohearent Audio und

Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It”. Es führte sowohl die britischen (BPI Platinum) als auch die USamerikanischen (RIAA Gold) Albumcharts an und brachte sieben Singles hervor: „Love Me”, „Ugh!”, „A
Change of Heart”, „She’s American”, „Somebody Else”, „Loving Someone” und „The Sound”. Pitchfork,
Rolling Stone und The Guardian führten es als eines der besten Alben des Jahres 2016 auf. Die BoxsetVersion wurde bei den Grammy Awards 2017 für die Kategorie „Best Boxed or Special Limited-Edition
Package” nominiert.
2026 ist das 10-jährige Jubiläum dieses viel beachteten Albums. Um dies zu feiern, wird das Album
auf farbigem Vinyl (Farbe noch zu bestätigen) in einer 6-seitigen Dreifach-Gatefold-Verpackung mit alternativem Artwork und 17 12”x12”-Kunstkarten veröffentlicht, wobei jedes Kartenbild einen Song mit dem
