‘Heavy Terrain’ emerges from the depths of a lifetime inside the dub fraternity: reared on a potent diet of Lee Scratch Perry and Augustus Pablo, The Disciples and Digital Mystikz, it’s an album which stuck its head in a bass bin in an abandoned bingo hall in north London before striking out on a musical road-trip to imbibe sounds and rhythms from further afield.

The album opens with the militant drums and ethereal pads of 'Sound in the East' before being bookended by two mixes of 'Star Trail', where unformed musical space and time cross uncharted distances to coalesce into the beginning of direction and rhythm. The lush deep house chords and drilling synths of 'Lila #3' summon ghostly presences, while in its counterpart 'Lila #7' layers of melody rise and hang like mist before dissipating in percussive heat. 'Dakhla's’ swelling and retreating drones fade into swirls of drums. In the eponymous 'Heavy Terrain', off-beat keyboard chops respond to each other from uncertain depths while electronic horns pulse across miles of open space. 'Empty City 'sees walls of sound coalesce and fragment, falling into bursts of white noise.

Remy Solar explores a deliberately constrained hardware set-up to create the primordial conditions of trance, locking down a rhythmic foundation while semi-improvised excursions form and reform above it. Grace Inspace Garner hat schon immer ein nomadisches Leben geführt. Geboren in LA und aufgewachsen in London, wuchs sie mit ihren umherziehenden Künstlereltern an verschiedenen Orten auf. Ihre neue EP „Heavy Hair“ ist ihr bisher persönlichstes Werk. I started writing the songs for V at the beginning of 2023, and the demos were finished by the end of that year. While creating this material, I kept returning to one thought: everything we take for granted - everything that feels stable and permanent - is, in reality, incredibly fragile. Nothing lasts forever, and the sense of things slipping away can hit much sooner than we expect. I tried to translate those feelings into sound. At that time, a lot of difficult things were happening in my life, things I didn't know how to cope with. Music became a form of therapy - a way to process emotions I couldn't express in any other way. In early 2024, we began working through the songs together as a full band. After finalizing the arrangements, we spent the rest of the year recording them. The process stretched over many months, split into several sessions across different studios. I didn't want to rush anything. I wanted, as always, to refine every detail the best we possibly could. Soon you'll be able to hear the result for yourselves. For me, this album is something deeply personal. It's an act of opening up to anyone who chooses to listen - a glimpse into things I can't fully describe with words, into what I felt and who I became during that period. Schon in den späten Achtzigern waren Teile von Ampyre in Gruppen wie Tindale Creek, Silk´n´Steel oder Dark Haze aktiv, die Veröffentlichungen vorweisen konnten. Mit Sängerin Elke Grötzinger, die auch heute noch erfolgreich mit FRONTROW WARRIOR die Bühnen rockt, hatte man dazu einen perfekten Fang gemacht. Somit hatte man im Raum Stuttgart direkt einen guten Start und volle Häuser, trotz starker Konkurrenz.

Für das im Marquee Studio produzierte 5-Track-Demo griff man tief in die Tasche, was zu einem dementsprechend professionell klingenden Ergebnis führte. Das musikalische Können und ein für diesen Stil perfektes Songwriting hätten eigentlich für den großen Knall sorgen müssen, doch 1991 änderte sich die musikalische Landschaft und auch der melodische Metal musste gegen Grunge, Crossover, sowie Thrash- und Death Metal antreten. Das Label Golden Core machte diese Aufnahmen erstmals zugänglich und die Reviews in Magazinen wie Rock Hard oder Break Out waren traumhaft. Aus der Schweiz stammten Sacrifice, die sich 1984 mit einer selbstproduzierten Single vorstellten und dann einen Deal mit dem GAMA Musikverlag bekamen. „On The Altar Of Rock“ erschien 1985 auf dem GAMA-Label Camel und platzierte die Band in der damaligen Heavyrock-Szene.

Die Mischung aus melodischem Hardrock und Heavy Metal macht den Reiz dieses Albums aus. Geschicktes Songwriting mit vielen Hooklines paart sich mit dem spielerischen Können.

Die Wiederauflage auf Golden Core enthält als Bonus die zwei raren Tracks der 12“ Single und ist remastert. Ende der Siebziger befanden sich The Teens auf dem Siegeszug und dominierten die Jugendhefte wie die Bravo. Natürlich sollte es nicht lange dauern, bis man Konkurrenz bekam. Speedy waren eine waschechte Band, die beim Musizieren in ihrem Proberaum entdeckt wurde. Kurze Zeit später wurde die erste Single „Willy Is Back“ von Didi Zill (Birth Control, The Nighthawks) produziert, der auch als Fotograf für die Bravo bekannt war. Man schaffte es ohne Umweg in die Kultsendung Ilya Richer´s Disco. Dies führte zur ersten und leider einzigen LP „Much Too Young To Rock´n´Roll“ und zur gleichnamigen Single mit dem Knaller „Fight Like A Fighter“ auf der B-Seite.

Beide Tracks schafften es erneut ins TV (eine Ferienshow mit Karl Dall und zum zweiten Mal die Sendung Disco) – das Thema Speedy brodelte! Leider entschieden sich die Eltern der minderjährigen Musiker gegen eine Tournee mit Def Leppard, was die Karriere beendete. Die Wiederauflage enthält als Zusatz auch die Songs, die es nur als Single gab.

The cover painting is the bands first collaboration with Joshua Tree artist Diane Bennett.

The songs are flowing slowly and take inspiration from both the Californian desert landscapes to the Norwegian oceans where the two founding members come from. Wounds is the band's long-awaited fifth album - their first in six years, their most eclectic and ambitious work to date. As heavy as it is haunting, the record masterfully blends doom, post-punk, and driving krautrock in a dynamic, hypnotic maelstrom - pushing London's most exciting cult band into intoxicating new territory. "Wounds is a series of songs about the different ways people live with and process 'the wounds' of their lives," explains vocalist Maya. "A strange celebration of that formative pain we have all experienced in some way. "The Welsh countryside has a mystical quality to it," says guitarist Adam. "We recorded in a deep, dark valley; misty days and shooting stars at night. You could wander through nearby woods and stone circles during breaks. Foel Studios is woven into this setting with a transcendence of its own - its storied history includes sessions by Electric Wizard, Hawkwind and The Fall." Synths on the album are arranged by Berlin-based Bow Church, an influential figure in the dark electronic scene and a longtime collaborator of the band. His work weaves icy and atmospheric textures into the album's tracks. While meticulously crafted, Wounds captures the visceral energy of Cold in Berlin's renowned live shows. The album's arrangements and raucous sound remain true to the unrelenting intensity and atmosphere of their stage performances - every track retains the sweat, urgency, and immediacy of a band performing in the moment.

The sound is based on drones, heavy riffing and inspired by ancient hindustan singing and playing (with instruments such as Sitar, Dilruba and Harmonium). Litania is also the title of our first album, eight tracks of evocative, hypnotic doom, where the raw power of guitars merges with the spiritual depth of Indian classical music. The songs, intense and dark, are interspersed with instrumental passages featuring sitar, dilruba, harmonium, and tanpura. The vocals, deep and ritualistic, draw inspiration from ancient Indian Ragas, evoking a sonic journey suspended between abyss and transcendence.
