Dear reader,

since Ramona presented all her disciples work throughout the first Lifesaver compilation in 2013, it's now time for another episode of togetherness. Summoning all of her artists around Frankfurt and those who live around the world, Ramona is now ready to present the Lifesaver Compilation 2. 

Kicked off by one of the Frankfurt young guns, the compilation leans into a melody-driven warm-up with a slight hint of analogue soul - "Digital Revolution" by Orson Wells. Next up is the Italian-born and now Berlin-based Massimiliano Pagliara. His contribution "Phasing Down The Sea" enriches the second Lifesaver installment with some of his signature synth-lines paired with a classic chicago-driven beat. The secret weapon from Kilianstädten also known as Mr. Melody, who goes by the name of Lauer, delivers a dark-italo and wave-ish piece topped off with the famous Lauer-craziness called "Language". Roman Flügel, the man of the hour, reinvents classic UK bleep-techno with Tender Hooligan". Another member of the young-guns-club, Chinaski, brings his certain level of synthesizer-love to the table with a track called Futuresex". Portable, one of Ramona's most delicate flowers, teamed up with Lcio again - together they created a hieroglyphic and deep-driven piece of music: "Dive In". TCB, also known as the only member of The Citizen's Band, delivers "Byrdmap", a solid piece of spheric deep and broken music. "Brainwashed" by Benedikt Frey marks the end of the compilation and simultaneously shows his dimension of futuristic dark-disco acid-madness. 

The Lifesaver compilation will be released as a double 12"-vinyl. Additionally Live At Robert Johnson will release an Extension-10"-vinyl containing two brand new tracks by the infamous Hotel Lauer and Tuff City Kids end of March 2015.

m 17. März ist es soweit: Nach ihrem Debüt-Album, dem Chartstürmer Megalitic Symphony, stellen AWOLNATION ihr mit Spannung erwartetes neues Studioalbum mit dem Titel Run (Red Bull Records) vor. RUN wurde vom musikalischen Architekten Aaron Bruno verfasst, gespielt und produziert und im hügeligen Hinterland von Malibu in Kalifornien aufgenommen. Das neue Album ist der Höhepunkt von Brunos Erfahrungen nach dem Durchbuch ihres Debüt-Albums Megalithic Symphony. Das Endergebnis ist ein feinst abgestimmtes musikalisches Meisterwerk, das sich manchmal - und urplötzlich - expansiv atmosphärisch, übermutig, ernst und verfeinert gibt und von Momenten des typischen aggressiven Unbehagen punktiert ist. "Auf dieser Platte ist jede einzelne Sekunde sorgfältig zugeordnet", erläutert Bruno. "Jedes einzelne Element dient einem Zweck".
Neben der ersten Single "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)" fallen besonders das cineastische "Jailbreak", die erhebende Hymne "I Am", der Titelsong "Run", das euphorische "Windows", das schmerzlich verwundbare "Headrest for My Soal" und die atomare Rebellion von "KOOKSEVERYWHERE!!!!" auf.

Ali Farke Toure and Ry Cooder have long treasured each other's recordings. They frst met in London in 1992 while both were touring Europe. It was agreed that they should 'try something together'. This 'something' became 'Talking Timbuktu', a Grammy award-winning classic album.In September '93 Toure was set to play a string of dates in the States and a week was set aside for recording his new album. Cooder was to play on a couple of tracks. A few hours' rehearsal at Cooder's Santa Monica home hinted at inspiring possibilites. The Malian guitarist's next three Californian dates all featured Cooder as special guest. The recording followed a week later by which tme Cooder had
agreed to produce the entre album and play on every track. The whole album, recorded in three days,is now available on vinyl with an additonal previously unreleased track.

Da sie von der Energie und der musikalischen Vielfalt, die in der britischen Metropole auf sie wartete, regelrecht umgehauen war, fasste die neunfache Grammy-Gewinnerin kurzerhand den Entschluss, für einen ganzen Monat in diese Szene einzutauchen und ihr neues Album in den legendären RAK Studios aufzunehmen...

Ny*Ak fires the opening beatdown salvo,'U Don't Understand', and cooks up another of those loose, low riding, sample heavy and heady jams, reminiscent of Berlin via early Sound Signature that made last year's EP for Intimate Friends via Rush Hour such an essential!

Next up Cape Town's Jumping Back Slash, who's been making some serious music, fusing elements of S.A House with Kwaito and, well pretty much anything else he can throw into the mix to move your assets.
'Bloodlines' however could just as easily have emanated from 8 Mile, a captivating piece of pure, crisply rendered machine soul back lit with township chants and emotive chords.

Mr 'monkz himself handles B1, and to say this guy's on a roll would be something of an understatement!
Much like Graef and Co, 'imgettintiredofyou' is Deep House that dines out on a diet of Hip Hop, dirty hertz in the low registers and deftly manipulated sample work throughout - killer stuff!

Finally our truly global selection winds up in Moscow as another hotly tipped up-and-comer Lay-Far gives us 'Many-Sided'.
Fans of last year's excellent EP on Fifty Fathoms Deep will know what to expect. Again, a loosely pieced together cut, hinting at West London vibes,and shot through with creative sampling and an undeniable ear for melody and groove that really shines.

Franc Spangler is back with three brand new cuts to form the Painted Lady EP. Spangler, also known as Jamie Odell also known as Jimpster returns to Delusions Of Grandeur following something of a hiatus since his 2010 EP Forever And A Day. Not that there hasn't been demand (following his brilliant remix of Norm De Plume for vinyl only label Kolour Limited) but with a busy gig schedule and two labels to keep on top of, the Spangler moniker has always been seen as a bit of a special side project where quality presides over quantity.

Title track Painted Lady kicks things off in fine style with warm, deep house being the order of the day. Franc gets just enough dust in amongst the layering keyboards and echoing stabs to keep things the right side of smooth, the overall vibe is rolling with subtle FX and sounds poking through every now and then bringing a new element to latch onto.

Up next we have Lumpsucker, which brings us a lovely, blissed out, slice of electronica underpinned by classic TR707 beats adding just the right amount of jack to the track. We're getting hints of YMO and Balil with a lingering note of Larry Heard on the finish.

Finally, we're treated to the epic closer that is Camberwell Beauty. Mid tempo boogie beats with crunchy claps and steady hats lay the bedrock for a loping CS5 bassline whilst lush keys shimmer and swirl like little fluffy clouds in a bright summer's sky.

6th Borough Project are back with the follow up to their 2011 debut One Night In The Borough. A hectic couple of years have been lived out by Graeme Clark and Craig Smith during the making of this LP with Graeme continuing to play week in and week out as Revenge and setting up his new imprint Roar Groove whilst Craig has established the brilliant Fifty Fathoms Deep label. Studio time has been tight to say the least but that
hasn't stopped the duo from pulling out all the stops and ensuring that this LP surpasses the already sky-high benchmark set by it's predecessor. Followers of 6th Borough Project will be pleased to hear that all the low-slung, loopy, hypnotic vibes we've come to
expect are present and correct whilst the duo have still made sure to push things forward with their sound, bringing a minimalist, housier edge to many tracks.

Things kick off with the Intro setting the mood, coming on like a bizarre dream that's over in a flash but seems to include an entire episode of your life and succeeds in encapsulating the sentiment of the entire LP in 40 seconds! Soul, Beach, City, Gig, Party,
Energy, Relaxation.... It's all here.
On Our Love we find a brilliantly lop-sided shuffling groove laying the foundation for some classic 6BP-style vocal chops, easing us in gently with the warm up vibes. Things take a slightly darker direction on U Know U with this heads-down track, a crisp, stripped-back beat being joined by filtering pads and a distant vocal for company. Think It Over and In Your Arms follow seeing the boys building things perfectly and increasing the party
atmosphere with two floor-friendly tracks which look set to be just a couple of the DJ's favorites from the LP. Dropping things down a notch we're treated to the beautiful slow-mo gem entitled Through The Night before heading deeper still on the tripped out, dark and dubby The Call Back.

Back 2 Black picks up the tempo again for a percussion heavy workout with just a hint of Africa emerging through the echoing stabs and sub bass. The party continues with Read
My Mind which brings us some brooding, up-tempo warehouse vibes to get immersed in before F.E.E.L and a brand new LP version of previous single The Vibes pushes further still in a darker, more abstract and clubby mood. Finally, we wind down with Walk Away, making the perfect close for a brilliant, fresh and original LP from a highly talented couple of producers whose passion and knowledge of music shines brightly here. Gear appreciating Italian 'Giorgio Luceri' enters the SAFT dome with the machine driven 'Liger EP'. On the opening track 'Liger' Giorgio cleverly paints an elusive ambiance using jumbled drums and an appealing bassline together with a continual synthline that nicely sits on top of the serene pads that give rise to an intense atmosphere.
The B1 side opens with similar soothing pads that gradually change when the immense bassline and full bodied kick drum come in. Giorgio again creates a somewhat adverse vibe which helps to give it a hint of lushness.
For the B2, Chicago legend 'Gene Hunt' contributes with a massive percy remix for 'Liger'. A lot of drum action is present in this club oriented (yet deep) roller. As far as remixes go, Gene Hunt proves to be a craftsman of high stature.

Flip over for Read My Mind which brings some deep and brooding warehouse vibes to the table. This is the sound of 6th Borough Project doing techno with just a hint of 909 ride adding to the layers of bouncing stabs and off-kilter vocals.

"Rave Tapes" ist Mogwais achtes Studioalbum und ihr zweites auf dem eigenen Label Rock Action, auf dem sie vor fast 18 Jahren ihre Debüt-Single "Tuner/Lower" veröffentlichten. Seit dem letzten, von Fans und Kritikern gleichermaßen gefeierten Album "Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will" sind knapp drei Jahre vergangen, in denen das schottische Quintett überaus umtriebig war. Neben der "Earth Division" EP und einem Remixalbum erschien Anfang 2013 auch der Soundtrack zur TV-Serie "Les Revenants" (The Returned). Gleichzeitig tourten Mogwai unaufhaltsam durch die Weltgeschichte. "Rave Tapes" entstand im bandeigenen Castle Of Doom Studio in Glasgow. Und wieder einmal entwickeln sie ihren Soundkosmos entscheidend weiter. Die Mogwai-typischen Gitarrenwände bleiben erhalten, treten aber öfter bewusst in den Hintergrund und schaffen so Klangräume für vielschichtige, oft elektronische Sounds, die sich in den zehn atemberaubenden Songs auf "Rave Tapes" wiederfinden.

So it seems that 2013 was the year Skudge team decided to camp by the pressing plant! The Skudge imprint is indeed growing along its artists as we're now ready to embrace longer formats, a testimony to the future and most than anything a continuous effort to grasp the present's relevancy.
After their wonderful EP from a year ago, the Fishermen are ready to take you on a diving trip with their very first album, an accomplishment in itself With 'Patterns and Paths', Thomas Jaldemark (YTA) and Martin Skoggehall (MRSK, Smell The Flesh) have crafted a rather mesmerizing story of abstract and figurative tropes altogether, and eerie is probably the best word to describe the general mood of this, but hard and raw eeriness! The affair starts with 'Green Horn', a gentle foreplay setting the tone for an imminent journey into the lightless abysses. 'Hope Is gone' further enhances the incoming grim turn of events in a coil-like fashion before 'Serpents' makes our feet and hips take over our fear of the unknown. The trance has indeed begun and we're soon entering a hidden warehouse rave cave of un-earthy shamanism, the unforgiving stomp of 'Get None'. 'Dyspnea' manages to find a path into deeper regions the groove shift towards a darker funk with 'Lost Teeth', a caribbean techno banger that'd wake any zombie in the making! 'The Four Skulls' suddenly hints of a safer journey with healing percs and melancholic pads, but 'Rise' soon shatters those false hopes with an evil lurking motoric groove. Then, you hit 'Scurvy' where the pace slows down a little only to introduce the seductive side of this gloomy adventure, a challenge to you feet inducing lascivious moves. Keeping you in trance, 'In Solitude' kind of combines both previous tracks strengths with an added Twin Peaks value. Now finally reaching the far bottom of the ocean, the mood gets even more claustrophobic with 'Sunken Mosque', the last stage of this trance before maybe getting back to the surface. Indeed, if 'Torments' might let you catch a breath of air, it is filled with minerals, the world above has changed, and you might very well feel safer back under the water, a reverse mirror to Mike Ink's old Gas project. While this tour guide concludes his narration, the Skudge camp proudly hopes to see you embark on it very soon!

It's not easy making jams that really work the crowd just as well in Bristol as in Berlin. Nor any other city for that matter. It's those crossover artists that really stand out for us with tunes that do so much more than just ride the wave of what's hot. Enter The Organ Grinder and his sick 3track EP for Heist. 'How did I get here", the A1 track, might sound like something you'd ask yourself when you realize you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, but for us, this track is everything but that. This track has the most gritty and rolling percussion we've heard in a long time, a looped key with a hint of sleazy techno and some subs that will easily blow your grandma's porcelain to pieces. Add some odd FM frequency noises and you've got yourself a killer tune. Changes all the time takes a more drawn back approach, aptly characterized in the vox: 'repetition, with tiny changes all the time.' A set of carefully placed stabs. pads and strings along with a great arrangement that keeps you wanting more of that warm but rough groove. The Valley of doom takes you on a journey through the whole B-side with a stripped down, almost dubby techno vibe, nicely countered with The OG's signature slamming and gritty percussion. With their debut album on Hamburg's taste making hafendisko, Deo & Z-Man proceed their research in contemporary electronic music beyond stylistic boundaries and present a wide-ranging lucky bag of songs. The Italo-rooted brothers melt influences from modern House music, HipHop, Electronica and even jazzy elements into a fresh and life-affirming total work of art. And here it is in all its glory - 'No Bullshit' . With a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek humour and a seemingly endless supply of fresh ideas, Deo & Z-Man might have pulled one of the most creative albums of the year. Effortlessly gliding between wigged out house for the dancefloor, synthy space weirdness, hip-hop infused beats and twisted, smoked-out electro pop - 'No Bull-shit' is a rare thing, a collection of esoteric and eclectic influences that hang together perfectly as a proper album. The boys have long since created their own special vibe through their well received singles, live performances and DJ sets - mixing musical knowledge, party rocking skills and a sense of fun that is all too often lacking these days. Even more rare is to capture that magic in the studio over the course of an album. Yet 'No Bullshit', as the name cheekily suggests, nails it. Listening to the album it's easy to see how Deo & Z-Man cut their teeth with HipHop - tracks like 'Tamastar Santini' (feat Janos), 'Two Blue Bros' and 'YRUAG' reveal a background of beats and rhymes that infuses the whole vibe of the album. Equally at home in the club, recent single 'XTC', 'Chopped Memories' and 'Tales of Love' are lessons in leftfield club dynamics - deep, musical grooves that hint at the brothers' leg

Hypnotischer Tiefgang kann auch hell und freundlich sein, wie Marcus Sur einmal mehr unter Beweis stellt. Die melodiöse Eingängigkeit seiner Produktionen schwingt irgendwo zwischen Deep House und Dub Techno, wobei er das Beste aus beiden Welten mit organischer Eleganz verwebt und mit seiner ganz eigenen Note versieht.
Da ist das stimulierende Pochen und entrückte Klingeln von The World In Small Doses. Da ist die hintergründige Dramatik und perfide Vielschichtigkeit von Masquerade. Da ist die verträumte Stimme von Ann Jasmund, die sich über den warmen Wogen eines wabernderen Klangteppichs ausbreitet. Und da ist der verspielte Basslauf von Magnetic Ribbons, dessen schwerelose Synthesizer- und Piano-Zitate Mollono.Bass zwischen die perkussiven Rhythmen seines wundersamen Frequenz-Universums entführt. Das dubbig glitzernde Original gibt es als Zugabe für die Digital-Version. Leicht verdaulich und doch sehr gehaltvoll - wie gute Musik für den Sommer sein sollte!

Kartel is delighted to announce the 18th March release on Soundway Records of Magical Thinking by Antibalas multi-instrumentalist, Chico Mann. Tipping a genre-bending wink at 80's funk, boogie and electro stylings, with just a hint of Afrobeat spicing the mix, Chico effortlessly merges a downtempo groove with timeless pop sensibility to create a contemporary dancefloor classic. UK/European dates for March/April will be announced shortly.

Besinnliche Ballade oder turbulente Tanznummer Organische Klangfarben oder synthetische Brillanz Experimentelles Beat-Gefrickel oder gradliniger Rumms Die Canow EP ist alles. Und in ihrer Gesamtheit noch viel mehr. Der Titel Rope widmet sich voll und ganz dem melancholischen Lied der Sängerin, hintergründige Streicher und verträumte Ambient-Zitate scha en ein Gefühl von Filmmusik. Genau das greift auch der Mollono.Bass Remix auf, jedoch ist die Handlung seines Drehbuchs von den Trommeln ferner Länder und dem nächtlichen Reiz einer exotischen Metropole geprägt. Der Titel Dive atmet ebenfalls durch die ergreifende Ausdruckskraft jener Stimme, hier kommen gebrochene Beats dazu, die sich mehr und mehr gerade ausrichten und eine unterschwellig stimulierende Note erzeugen. Inspiriert von diesem subtilen Aufbau präsentiert Mollono.Bass eine Hauptzeit-taugliche Überarbeitung, treibender Groove und schnittige Percussions holen den Zuhörer vom einleitenden Gesangspart ab und tragen ihn dann hinaus in die hypnotischen Weiten des Klangraums.
