Hailing from different backgrounds; accents of different origins, insights and perspectives drawn from their own stories all come together over one sound. I've always admired DJ Rush for one simple reason: he brings the Funk to Techno like no one else. His tracks are instantly recognizable. Rotterdam’s Nathan Homan jumps into the Spectral Bounce spotlight on SPEC09 — Frog Mine. These three cuts of mesmeric tech house roll, slip and spring from the speakers.

His Spectral Bounce debut is exemplified by punchy percussion playing against obscured, otherworldly sonics — something Homan has a particular instinct for, and which slot seamlessly into the SPEC catalog. Starting proceedings with a taut beat, snappy drums and hallucinatory croaks, the titular “Frog Mine” creates a hypnotic trip. Second track “Hyp” is a well-honed tech house roller: its adeptly slinking rhythm hearkens back to the 00’s, yet this framework is expanded upon with alien timbres and pinwheeling FX. Having set a heady tone, Homan doesn’t shy away from loosening up his sound: swapping the original’s smooth propulsion for a healthy dose of jackin’ bounce, the house mix of “Hyp” strips the ingredients back, before adding a cascade of syncopated toms and a seriously thumping kick.

This heteronomic practice would be ideal to advocate against reasons which are claimed, biographies that are scripted, economies that are fueled and histories that are written to be recognized as something apparently truly valid and fully finnished.

Mental industrial techno EP, Indie french autoproduction.

PANORAMA Records heads to South Africa for its next release, shining a light on one of the country's great unsung talents, Mpharanyana. Born Jacob Radebe, Mpharanyana was one of the defining voices of South African soul, disco and funk during the 1970s, recording with both The Cannibals and The Peddlers while helping shape a uniquely South African take on dance music. Working alongside future legends including Ray Phiri, his records fused soul, disco, mbaqanga and funk into something entirely his own.

On the A-side, "Get Down" by Mpharanyana And The Cannibals delivers exactly what the title promises. An irresistible blend of modern soul, boogie and disco, it's the kind of record that feels like sunshine from the first bar.

The flip features "Disco" by Mpharanyana And The Peddlers, a super-funky slice of South African Afro-disco that wont leave the record bad.

Despite Mpharanyana's cult status among collectors, "Get Down" has never previously been officially reissued, while the B side was introduced by Kalita Records, both sides remain incredibly rare.

Driven by tight musicianship, infectious hooks and a groove that refuses to quit, this is a genuine dancefloor record for the heads.

Together these two sides tell the story of an artist whose music deserves to be heard far beyond collector circles. „Nowawes2“ marks the second chapter for the label, staying true to its sound without repeating itself. Poul Verner delivers another limited hand-stamped two-tracker built around warm analog textures, organic grooves and understated depth. No unnecessary tricks, no oversized moments. Just two carefully crafted cuts that unfold in their own time. The A-side, „Choose Your Future“, settles into a deep 120 BPM groove, drifting through layers of dub delays, tape noise, subtle pads and restrained chords. Equal parts dub techno and deep house, it leaves plenty of space for atmosphere to do the talking. Flip it over and „Choose Life“ raises the tempo to 130 BPM without sacrificing its hypnotic flow. Stretching across 12 minutes, it builds patiently without ever rushing its destination. More drive, more momentum, yet the same sense of space. Dreamlike, immersive and made for those moments when the dancefloor locks into a rhythm of its own. „Nowawes2“ continues to explore the space between laid back house and organic techno with patience, restraint and an unmistakably analog character.
