More than eighty years ago in southwestern Virginia, Carter and Ralph Stanley (The Stanley Brothers) - forged a sound that became a cornerstone of bluegrass and old-time music yet they remain far less known outside the genre than their influence warrants Where the Soul Never Dies sets out to change that. Producers Alison Brown and Garry West assembled an eclectic cast spanning bluegrass and Americana, pairing the genre's next generation with roots voices who grew up on these songs. Standout contributors include Billy Strings , Dolly Parton , Willie Nelson , Sierra Ferrell , Jamey Johnson, Steve Martin, and Ralph Stanley II, among others. Forwards! moves roughly chronologically through moments in Brummie history; from the Lunar Society/Priestley Riots, through post war brutalist redevelopment, to the current era of apathy, strikes, mystery fires, and grifters stoking dangerously misguided "patriotism" The record grew from the band's view of the city as both a microcosm of the wider country, and testing ground for 200 years of unaccountable Westminster experimentation. The title itself is taken from the Birmingham's oft- derided civic motto. Throughout the record, fellow Birmingham punx Luxury Nan Smell take the role of The City Elders, providing backing vocals that interrupt, question or comment on the songs like a running director's commentary. Meanwhile, Bryn Bowen, whose CV stretches across numerous Birmingham bands of the 2000s, appears as The Lords of Change, a recurring voice embodying the landlords, lawmakers and civic powerbrokers who shape the city from above.

Marcus Gad, one of France's top reggae artists, hailing from the Pacific island of New Caledonia, returns with a powerful new album, FOR ALL Produced with his longtime collaborator Tamal, along with instrumental backing from his band Tribe, the record brings 12 new songs that continue Gad's thoughtful and catchy approach to modern reggae. Lush production, killer musicanship, along with modern vibes and riddims all make the album one of his best yet. Lyrically, Gad tackles many of the topics that have concerned him for years - liberty, equality, fighting against injustice and the problems of the world today.

An evolution of her radio show, event series and Bandcamp community under the same name, this compilation plots a globe-spanning day-into-night voyage across 16 tracks, from artists, countries and scenes that have shaped Jamz' musical worldview. Each track, many of which are exclusive to this comp, tells a story of heritage and roots, whilst pushing boundaries and pioneering new sounds in their respective regions. From the Reunion Island to Latin America, East Africa to the Caribbean and Pacific, it's a 24-hour cycle moving from downtempo to dancefloor. The concept of Dance Around The World began in the summer of 2025 but has ultimately been a part of Jamz' journey in music since the beginning. At the centre of it is her 15-year career as radio presenter - her tastes evolving from the early days on Reprezent Radio, to a 1Xtra residency and now a Saturday daytime show on BBC 6Music. There has always been a desire to highlight music from underrepresented scenes to new audiences.

Ihre Vorliebe für analoge Produktionsweisen übertrugen Gotts Street Park ganz selbstverständlich auf den modernen Americana-Sound des Albums. Die stilistische Entwicklung war dabei keine bewusste Entscheidung, sondern ergab sich organisch aus ihren gemeinsamen Hörgewohnheiten – allen voran Josh, der sich intensiv mit Neil Young und weiteren Künstlern der frühen 1970er-Jahre beschäftigte.
Für „Somewhere Between“ versammelte sich das Trio gemeinsam mit den Gastvokalist:innen in einem Raum und ließ die Songs in einem intuitiven kreativen Prozess entstehen. Inspiriert von der Musik von Gotts Street Park entwickelten die Sänger:innen ihre Texte ganz organisch. „Mit GSP zu schreiben, ist immer eine große Freude“, sagt Rosie Lowe. „Ihre Musik ist so emotional, dass die Songs scheinbar wie von selbst entstehen.“

Der US-Produzent Devonwho kehrt mit „TV2“ zurück und verbindet wonky Instrumental-Hip-Hop, G-Funk und tiefe, elektronische Klangwelten zu einem neuen Doppelalbum.

Pünktlich zum großen PROJECT PITCHFORK Jubiläum und der anstehenden Tour feiern zwei außergewöhnliche Veröffentlichungen ihre längst überfällige Premiere auf Vinyl: „First Anthology“ und „Second Anthology“. Zwei sorgfältig zusammengestellte Rückblicke, die nicht nur die Entwicklung einer der prägendsten Dark-Electro-Bands aller Zeiten nachzeichnen, sondern auch eindrucksvoll zeigen, warum PROJECT PITCHFORK bis heute nichts von ihrer Faszination verloren haben.

FIRST ANTHOLOGY Die ersten zehn Jahre einer außergewöhnlichen Band – von den visionären Anfängen bis zum internationalen Durchbruch. „First Anthology“ vereint die frühen Klassiker und Meilensteine von PROJECT PITCHFORK und dokumentiert den Aufstieg einer Formation, die den Dark-Electro-Sound nachhaltig geprägt hat. Ein eindrucksvolles Zeitdokument voller wegweisender Songs und zeitloser Hymnen.

„Oklahoma Toad“ von 1970 war Dave Frishbergs Debüt als Sänger und Startpunkt seiner gefeierten Karriere als Pianist, Sänger und Songwriter. Die Neuauflage präsentiert erstmals auf Vinyl den vom Künstler freigegebenen Producer’s Mix aller zehn Originaltracks. Eine Bonus-7" ergänzt „Peel Me a Grape“ und den bislang unveröffentlichten Schoolhouse-Rock-Outtake „A World Without Verbs“.

In einer Zeit, in der alles dazu bestimmt scheint, konsumiert und anschließend vergessen zu werden, setzt Ferdi auf die Beständigkeit kreativen Schaffens. On its latest album »Music For Air«, the Berlin-based interdisciplinary duo Gamut Inc explores new possibilities of the computer-controlled pipe organ — from hypervirtuoso excess to nuanced automation and rhythms beyond the fixed grid. Composed and recorded during a two-week residency in Toulouse, the pieces move between harmony and noise, conjuring a euphorically intoxicating maelstrom of overlapping, accelerating sound.

Gamut Inc’s work with the computer-controlled organ actually began in 2009 with a commission from ON – Neue Musik Köln for the Kunst-Station Sankt Peter — at a time when few congregations were ready to open their instruments to this kind of work. When the duo of Marion Wörle and Maciej Śledziecki officially founded the ensemble in 2013 as an interdisciplinary project, they first developed their own music machines with instrument builder Gerhard Kern, returning to the organ in 2018 when more churches and venues had opened their doors … and Gamut Inc carried their practice across Europe and beyond, developing AGGREGATE (first a concert series and then an annual festival) into a platform dedicated to organ music of the 21st century.

Sharpening a critique of mechanisation, digitality, and the human in between, the project is conceived around the construction of pre-modern instruments and the control of these instruments by contemporary technologies, resulting in an aesthetic that bridges the very old and the very new. Recent works include the human-machine trilogy »Over The Edge Club« (2021), »Rossum’s Universal Robots« (2022), and »Zeroth Law« (2023, performed at Deutsche Oper Berlin with the RIAS Chamber Choir and the Logos Robot Orchestra), and »Black Square« (2025), a wind-dynamic modular organ built by Tony Decap, inaugurated at CTM Festival and broadcast on Deutschlandfunk Kultur and SWR Kultur. Their organ installation AGGREGAT#10, commissioned by Sónar Festival, was acquired for the permanent collection of Palau Güell Barcelona in 2022.

Ever since his 2015 debut EP, Nocturne, Alfa Mist has effortlessly moved between jazz, hip-hop and classical music and built unique sonic worlds. Across six critically acclaimed albums, the east Londoner has eroded genre boundaries with an expansive vision. On his last album Roulette, the prolific producer, songwriter, pianist and MC went one step further by creating his own sci-fi universe. 2025’s Roulette was a series of short stories, set in an imagined near-future where reincarnation is discovered to be a potent tool linking dreams and past lives. But with this discovery comes consequences: ethical, moral and philosophical. “If reincarnation is real, how does that shape society?”

As is traditional for Alfa Mist, he also explored the depth of the songs during a live-recorded session. This time the artist ventured to Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios - a location known both for its unusual architecture and its forward-thinking approach to music. Originally broadcast on Youtube only, it seemed a waste to not officially release the session. “When time's running out and you know you can't redo anything, there's an acceptance everyone has and it actually makes you relax a bit. It’s like recreating our live set in the studio.”

With Kaya Thomas-Dyke on Bass, Jamie Houghton on Drums, Jamie Leeming on Guitar, Johnny Woodham (aka JSPHYNX) on Flugel and Trumpet, and Samuel Rapley on Sax and Bass Clarinet.

Driveline Records presents its first solo EP, welcoming Maltese producer Patient to the label. Closing the EP, "Not A Replica" delivers a classic syncopated groove, full of tension, punch and infectious swing. A functional dancefloor weapon that provides the perfect finale to the record. Back to Pennsylvania, started (as so much great art does) in the beginning stages of a breakup in Brooklyn. Anna was weighted down by a sense of stagnation that required the kind of restart only returning home—to your childhood bed and bedroom, your parents backyard—can provide. So she went back to Pennsylvania. She sat at her hometown bar with her dad and his friends. She walked the sidewalks of her childhood. She spent time with her friends whose paths never quite diverged from that traditional, tale-as-old-as-time children’s chant—love, marriage, babies in a baby carriage. Despite all the shakeups of her life—no more New York, no more boyfriend, an impending nationwide tour with Joe P, frequent writing trips to L.A.—Anna still felt static. But it was on one of those fateful writing trips to L.A. that she regained a sense of motion, writing the record’s titular single. And what was supposed to be a single songwriting session with producer Gab Strum spun itself into 10 tracks reckoning with her new phase of life.

But soon we realise something’s not right, a volatility churns beneath the surface of Flora Hibberd’s Mammoth, the second record from the British songwriter in as many years. An evolution from the lush acoustic warmth of debut album Swirl, these are ten songs shot through with the energy of an epoch, gone electric, raging and vital. Things in tumult: Hibberd’s voice is the arrow to the heart, refracted through pond water and mirrored back strangely in the voices, the beings that coalesce around her. Produced by Ben Lanz (Beirut, The National), the songs of Mammoth walk a vertiginous tightrope, stirred by the electronic waves of Lanz’s modular synthesisers and buoyed up by the bodily embrace of his magnificently arranged brass sections. Hibberd’s initial folk-leanings have disappeared, making way for a tense, tight sound – the raw and fluid drums of Lucien Chatin, the frank bass lines of Nils Sørensen, the feverish guitar of Victor Claass, her longtime collaborator. Figures emerge from the thicket, offer their own voices: Sufjan Stevens (Ache, Perfect Ripple), This Is The Kit’s Kate Stables and Lonny (Deltaplane, Mythic Figure) and J.E. Sunde (Shelley, Dew Pond). Crafted first as demos by Flora, Ben and Victor in Le Vésinet over half a year, the drums, bass and guitar were then recorded live by Ben at Aaron Dessner’s studio Mini Pond in the Basque Country. Lovingly mixed in Paris by Étienne Caylou and mastered with aplomb by Chab, Mammoth glistens with a pop sheen without ever tempering its jagged edges.

After is the Y2K-tinged trip-hop pop project of Graham Epstein and Justine Dorsey, who met on Hinge in Los Angeles and realized they’d probably make a better band than a couple. These songs have been accumulating in my life since the 1960s, long before I ever began writing my own. Many remained with me as warm-up pieces, familiar companions I would return to before a performance, or simply as a welcome respite from singing my own words. Every so often, another would find its way into the collection. I'd be idly playing the guitar, stumble across a progression that reminded me of a song—"You Belong to Me," for instance—and realize I needed to go back and truly learn it. Some of these selections are deeply sentimental favorites, while others fascinated me as musical journeys across the guitar's fingerboard. spirit blue have become one of London’s most elusive word-of-mouth successes. 2024’s Yesca EP on SNF - “Mood Loops” - set a high bar, so when we say this record is something special you should take note. Of course if you already know Yesca’s music or have had the pleasure of a Yesca DJ set then you will have already this queued up.

Sweet Spot: Ben Sims, Deetron, Oliver Ho, Vince Watson, Grain (Artwork’s Techno alias). Planet-E, Primate Recordings, Paul Mac & Stimulus Recordings found the sweet spot.

According to the OED the first use of the phrase “Sweet Spot” was in 1976 in reference to tennis rackets and golf swings. It’s where everything hits just right. And that’s what this EP does, hits just right. What strikes me is how descriptive the phrase ‘Sweet Spot’ is. Given enough swings and some luck we all know what it feels like to hit the sweet spot in some regard. Finding the sweet spot regularly though takes time and skill. But being able to hit the sweet spot by design every time, well that’s something different. That’s what makes the greats great.

For us at SNF there’s a consensus that in the lineage of electronic music there have been many moments where artists & labels converged on a sweet spot. One such sweet spot for us is in Techno
around 2003 when at the tail end of Hardgroove tempos began to slow and a groovier more refined tech house infused goodness appeared in the racks from a group of killer techno labels & artists (some mentioned above) that moment before the fuller emergence of the 2nd wave of Tech House in the mid 00’s.

That sound, while often emulated, never quite hit the same for us at least – until Yesca came along. His music has everything that we love about that sweet spot. Raw driving groove, rolling basslines and hip shaking percussion. What’s different on ‘Paint on Walls’ is that Yesca stepped on - he had already found the sweet spot on 2024’s Mood Loop EP - now his sound (or swing) is natural. Repeatable, refined and seemingly effortless. To revisit the tennis and golf analogy, this is the start of a Grand Slam run from an artist ready to etch their name in dance music history. Tiger..... Serena......Yesca.

‘How I Do It (They Wonder)’ - A masterclass in less is more, and a serious DJ tool. Full of groove - slow it down and it will light the touchpaper in a house set - speed it up and you’ve got techno weaponry. Forget gatekeeping, this will make you feel like you just found a 2004 techno white label from the likes of Grain or Ben Sims.

‘I Desire’ - House music that I reckon Deetron would be proud of... Blissed out machine funk, whispered vocals, slick jazzy chords and dubbed out techno stabs are all grounded by Yesca’s impeccable, loopy drum programming. The best tunes always end too soon.

‘Domination’ - The ever rising bass, err, dominates this track and this track will dominate on many a dancefloor, but Yesca's knack for dubbed out swinging synth lines has to get a shout out here too. He turns what would be melodic elements into what feels like part of the percussion. Double Threat. Hands Up and Heads Down business.

‘Paint on Walls’ - It would be a tough call to say Yesca’s saved the best til last with the EP’s eponymous track given what’s come before, but Paint On Walls works all the highlights from the rest of the EP into a latin techno/house infused anthem. Skittering percussion, a hint of Detroit goodness and a deep deep rolling bassline and THAT vocal. In every way hopeful yet resistant, and that is what techno is all about.

Hailing from different backgrounds; accents of different origins, insights and perspectives drawn from their own stories all come together over one sound. On the Flip B1 take Turn toward the Funk , PBR giving the heavy dub treatment to one of The Whispers most criminally ignored tracks. Rounding things off the B2 drifts into the work of wonky, sleazy Italo.. Magari uses the little understood “wrong speed” technique to sublime effect, combined with some extra synth work it delivers a an entirely different track…one for the heads..

The third and final volume of remixes of 'Come Into My Life' by Nathalie Capello and Rose Lonegran is yet another doozy for lovers of emotive, meaningful deep house. Another bunch of heavyweights step up, starting with Mystic Bill who teases out a steamy-hot lead and builds a vibe around it. UK mainstay Jimpster plays with a dubby and bubbly low end, while Move D finds jazz-funk in the squelchy bass. Last of all, Underground Quality head DJ Jus-Ed steps up with his remix and explores more dusty textures, a slightly unsettling synth vibe and roomy, hypnotic grooves for late-night dancing.
