Lost Gospel Gem - Exitiment "Rap For Jesus" by Columbus Native Kenneth Jordan Rediscovered Nearly 40 Years Later

Columbus, GA — In the late 1980s, Columbus native Kenneth Jordan was such a powerhouse on the local music scene that talent shows had to rewrite their rules. His voice was so captivating (and his wins so frequent) that some claimed the competitions were rigged.

Jordan, deeply rooted in the city's thriving R&B circuit, eventually turned his creative energy toward faith-based music. Teaming up with several local musicians, he recorded "Excitement (Rap For Jesus)", a gospel-infused rap track that aimed to connect with a younger audience enthralled by the sound of hip-hop. His goal was simple: to give youth something uplifting to rap about and listen to.

In 1985, following a personal health scare and a period of reflection, Jordan transitioned from R&B to gospel music. "I took it as a sign from above that it was time to make a change," he later shared. Though his lyrics found new purpose, his signature soulful style remained unchanged.

Fast forward to December 2022 in Little Rock, Arkansas, where record collector and producer Brian Sears stumbled upon a well-loved copy of "Excitement (Rap For Jesus)" while purchasing over a thousand vinyl records from the trunk of an SUV in a Lowe's parking lot. Struck by the track's energy and message, Sears went into "detective mode" to uncover the story behind the voice—and the man—on the record.

Today, Kenneth Jordan continues to share his gift with his community, leading spirited performances every Sunday at his local church in Columbus. Nearly four decades later, his music and message still resonate with the same joy and conviction that first made him a hometown legend.

This fresh white-label serves up a well-known disco gem but lovingly reworked from the original multitrack tapes. It's been done by an absolute Stateside king of disco and soul edits who is a connoisseur of the art form and has long been known for uncovering hidden gems and elevating them with studio finesse. The result is a version that stays true to the soul of the original while sounding absolutely huge on today's sound systems with its feel-good vocal energy and rousing rhythms. Dub and instrumental versions make this an unmissable 12".

The cultured Seasons Limited imprint is back with more gold from French house mainstay Franck Roger, who continues his recent run of more vocal-leaning sounds. His 'One Of Mine' EP opens with the title cut and the main man himself on the mic. He delivers spoken words in a smoky, sultry tone over a deep, cuddly groove that harks back to 90s classics. Berlin imprint Catem Records makes its debut with 001, a pure and timeless 12" that merges elements of techno, house, electro, and deep house into one coherent statement.
Driven by analog warmth and rhythmic clarity, the release captures the essence of underground club energy: deep, functional, and emotionally precise. Pressed on black 140g vinyl, CATEM001 marks a confident first step for the label, setting a clear direction toward quality, authenticity, and sound design with character.

The ever-prolific Mihai Popoviciu returns with a stunning three-tracker on Sublease Music, delivering another masterclass in groove-oriented deep house. Known for his unmistakable precision and subtle emotional touch, the Romanian producer continues to bridge the space between warm underground energy and refined studio craftsmanship.
Over the past two decades, Popoviciu has become one of Eastern Europe’s most respected exports in electronic music, releasing on labels such as Bondage, Poker Flat, and Hudd Traxx, and earning international acclaim for his deep yet functional approach to house. On Sublease, he strips things back to their essential form: hypnotic basslines, crisp percussion, and fluid arrangements that move the dance floor without ever shouting for attention.
Each track radiates Popoviciu’s signature flow, a careful balance between drive and depth, tension and release. Sublease Music, the sister label of Poker Flat, continues its mission to present pure, modern house music from some of the most consistent artists in the scene. MOb return this November with their second album on Veego Records, continuing the adventurous journey they began with their 2023 debut MOb 1. Hailed by the press as one of the boldest and freshest statements in the Greek scene, their first record moved seamlessly between jazz, punk, and electronic forms, creating a sound often described as “an entire orchestra played by just three musicians.”

On their new release, Marios Valinakis (saxophone, effects, synthesizers), Alexandros Delis (bass, double bass), and Panagiotis Kostopoulos (drums) construct an even more intricate and ambitious sonic universe. The compositions range from the explosive energy of “Tipping Point” and the dark atmospheres of “Utu and Sin”, to the radical reimagining of Wayne Shorter’s “Fall” and the polyphonic outburst of “The Listener”, featuring the Kos Choir.

Guest appearances further expand the palette: Phillip “Felipe MC” Manev lends his voice to “Tipping Point” and “Encounters”, while Angelos Polychronou enriches “Encounters” and “The Listener” with his percussions.

First Contact features CROÍ, Lukey, KAIR, Sahm, and HVSN. Our first release is a compilation of tracks that we’ve been collecting and to seize all the styles and genres which we will deal with in the future.

‘First Contact’ is the first song of the VA, opening with an invitation with a combination of a nostalgic ambience followed by the drums that go along with the vocals pointing to the start for our journey. In Irish, the word "CROÍ" (pronounced KREE) means "heart". ‘Target Lock’ from Lukey, is a track that will definitely surprise you. This song is meant to push you back to the dance floor with a feeling which you don’t get very often from listening to these kinds of songs. Everything is cool with ‘Target Lock’, drums, nice trippy vibes, and how the bass fits there… You should be blown away by this song. In a real old school style! Lukey has previously caught the eye of industry labels like Hot Creations, also his release on Carpet & Snares Records, Into The Wizard's Sleeve, The Void Project was hammered by some of the great DJ’s in the world.

KAIR introduces himself to us in his own way with ‘Let's Get it!’ Because this bomb won’t fail to make you dance and feel good! It’s pure house and joyful music that makes you dance and get lost within the music. Also, ‘Let's Get it!’ is just a preview of the upcoming EP. ‘Rainbown’ is a track which shows us that Sahm knows how to come out with a brilliant house track. A groovy old school house with heavy percussion, comes from a young talented producer from Brazil! This will be the track that you’ll be playing years from now on. And ‘Bust This’, you will hear among the bass, the claps and drums, a high energy that will make you move your body. HVSN presents his vision of how to bring the right emotions of a dance floor full of energy and the connection between the bass, synth, drums and melody is back!

Kaidi Tatham delivers a vibrant boogie-infused rework bursting with soulful energy. A joyful, groove-heavy ride that’s already a favorite here at Visions.
Stephane Attias steps in with a deep house interpretation, dubbed out and laced with hypnotic vocal touches and slick keys courtesy of Sean McCabe. El Mustang (Alex Attias himself) ventures into darker territory with a stripped-back broken beat version, perfect for those late-night sessions when the mood shifts and the rhythm deepens.

After years of shaping the UK underground from behind the scenes, Alex Nut steps out with his first official solo EP, serving up an intoxicating blend of Spiritual Jazz, Deep House, Dub, Hip Hop and analog electronics. The Present Under Construction EP is rooted in a deep musical language and future-facing energy, it captures a moment of creative transformation and exploration.
Built up over a few years from rough sketches made on an old MPC2000XL, the tracks were revisited, reshaped and eventually brought to life in the studio with longtime friend and collaborator Sam Crowe (Cleo Sol, Lianne La Havas). Together, they added a range of analogue sounds using the Dave Smith Prophet Rev 2, a Fender Rhodes, and a Moog Sub 37. Those recordings were then chopped, resampled, and restructured into the versions you hear on the record today. The records lead track 'andthenitstarted' features saxophonist James Mollison (Ezra Collective, Nala Sinephro) and includes remixes from Detroit House legend Patrice Scott and fellow Eglo Records alumni Last Nubian.

Best known as a DJ, broadcaster, curator and co-founder of Eglo Records, Alex has spent over a decade championing soulful underground music, through fabled Radio shows to legendary club nights, his fingerprints are all over a scene that continues to evolve. Initially making noise alongside the likes of Floating Points, Steven Julien, and Fatima, Alex Nut has long been a cornerstone of the UK's soulful underground. His work continues to champion the evolution of Jazz, Soul, House, and Broken Beat — nurturing a generation of artists now reshaping the global soundscape.

It's time for the next instalment from our gracious Spiritual Vibes label to bring some joyous musical upliftment and what better way than to introduce an inspirational piece we entitled 'Hands of Moses'; a revamp from the vaults of Bushman's works from the 80s and known to many as a one-away dubplate called 'Moses' in which we have now brought up to speed inna 2025 style with some exceptional musicianship involvement from the Spiritual Players of Instruments bringing emphasis to the majestic soundscapes on this project! ????

British-Brazilian jungle artist Janaway announces his brand new EP International Luv via Up Ya Archives Records.

‘50/50 Vision’ is the defining statement of Janaway’s upcoming EP, a single that captures the project’s full essence in one. Blending pulsing jungle rhythms with the rich textures of Brazilian vocals, together, with his UK-centric underground lens, he creates this rolling, dancefloor-ready track that bridges continents and culture.

The title, a play on “20/20 vision,” reflects Janaway’s experience as a dual-heritage artist who views each of his cultures from a balanced perspective. This sense of duality runs throughout his work, expressed through a distinctive fusion of sounds, stories, and collaborations that mirror his own world. The accompanying visuals deepen this connection, featuring Janaway alongside his collaborators and friends, not only adding a personal and authentic layer but providing a snapshot of the community that shapes his music.

After a European tour and standout appearances at Boomtown, Glastonbury, and Outlook Festival, Janaway is fast becoming one of the most exciting names shaping the next gen of jungle.

On the heels of their breakout earlier this year, the enigmatic duo Soundboy Dead step up for their first release on Dub-Stuy with Soundclash Story, a fierce tribute to the art of clashing featuring UK veteran Don Cotti.

The title track captures the heat of the dance, Cotti at the mic delivering a vivid tale of dubplate warfare over a menacing steppers riddim built for the battlefield. On the flip, Soundclash Dub pushes the pressure even deeper, with a stripped down, FX-laden version that will test the heaviest rigs.

With Soundclash Story, Soundboy Dead continue their mission of crafting uncompromising bass music rooted in sound system culture. Pure energy. No gimmicks.

2026 Repress

After a storming Soma debut at the tail end of 2017, Cleric returns with the Silent Kingdom EP. This typically intense and raucous new release features an epic VSK remix on the flip.

Phantom Limb opens the EP, all guns blazing. Calamitous percussion hammers through as twisted synth hooks tear the speakers with unrelenting drive. Tag X takes on a more hypnotic functionality yet still embodies Cleric's fierce, vigorous energy. Title track Silent Kingdom concludes Cleric's original tracks for the new EP and doesn't let up on intensity one bit. Pervasive rhythmic elements are bolstered by dystopic pads that cleave through the heart of the track creating an absolute killer, peak time cut. The in-form, Berlin based VSK, fresh from his Soma release under Symmetrical Behaviour offers his take on Silent Kingdom; a decidedly gritty affair he retains the deeper elements of the original but certainly ups the severity.

Another hard hitting and astute release from one of the UK's brightest talents.

Tóxico and Subject To Restrictions Discs present a retrospective on Switzerland’s hidden analogue gear scene from 2017 and 2018. A vibrant yet undocumented chapter in the country’s music history. The 10 tracks, originally released exclusively on cassette and heard only by a small circle of listeners, are now compiled for the first time on vinyl as “Tóxico Tapes”. The collection captures the scene’s raw, hands-on energy through off-kilter rhythms, low-key EBM, ominous wave and free-form synth excursions.

Founded and curated by the former DJ and producer Narco Marco, the Tóxico label became a hub for Switzerland’s analogue gear enthusiasts. Between 2016 and 2020, it released a series of 10 tapes – albums and compilations – that now stand as a blueprint of the DIY, machine-driven underground of the time. Narco Marco is a key figure in Swiss electronic music. As a long-time clerk at “Oldiesshop” record store in Bern, he has championed eclectic sounds across decades. Synaptic Cliffs is barely able to contain the excitement for the release of the 4-track EP "Maximalism" where pdqb collaborates with DJ Sotofett in the most effective way. pdqb's sleek and melancholic electro originals carry a sexy 1980s reminiscing vibe, not too unknown from classic US electro disco-styled pop music. They meet warehouse remixes from DJ Sotofett, known for his top-notch electro productions on Clone and Tresor, as well as funky breakbeat, afro-dub and all-things-house on his own labels Wania and Sex Tags Mania. The remix of pdqb's electrocognition-beauty 'Giallactrus' has heavier, almost p-funk styled electro beats, live scratching complementing the block party approach while retaining the vibe of the original. Elysiaamore, pdqb's sonic love letter to Tangerine Dream, gets a bit of melodic menace treatment by DJ Sotofett, turning it into an intensified breakbeat juxtaposition with Junglized B-Boy elements... again without taking away the energy from the original. Italian duo Marsupials returns on Cut My Records with a two-track EP that blends the sophistication of deep house with the pulsating energy of afrodisco roots.

The Finnish imprint Vuo Records continues its exploration of deep dub techno textures with Split Dubs Vol. 2, an essential follow-up to the series that bridges timeless atmospheres and dancefloor-focused grooves. This time, Gradient, Star Dub, and label-head Tm Shuffle join forces for four heavyweight cuts that perfectly capture the label’s raw, analog spirit.
Gradient opens the record with “Stone Jungle”, a masterclass in restraint and tension, the kind of dub techno that feels alive in its own pulse, crafted from only the bare essentials yet rich in texture and movement. Tm Shuffle’s Housedubreshapes the original with reverb-soaked accents and elastic low-end energy, turning it into a deep, head-nodding trip tailor-made for late-night systems.

As Moxy marks an incredible seven years as a trailblazing label, The label unveils Moxy Editions 9 — a four-track collection that captures the spirit of his DJ sets and the global energy of his dancefloor community. FJAAK return with FJAAK014, a four-track EP packed with their signature analogue energy, funk-driven grooves and unmistakable Detroit-inspired synth work. This release is raw, percussive and unapologetically dancefloor-focused: Across four tracks, FJAAK once again prove why they remain one of the most vital voices in electronic music. The EP kicks off with 'Soulfriction', a cut built on a groove where power house meets jungle. Chronicle opens the EP with Air Temple, an immensely playful track with a superb 2-step hot pants break, programmed superbly with layers of depth generating anenergetic and immensely danceable tone, following the deliciously smooth late 90'sGLO-style intro. Lush female vocal samples perfect for the vibe are present and correctwhile micro melodies pan across the mix adding a wonderful texture.

A2 - Everblue

A delicately ominous intro with pads, whooshing samples and rustic synths precede adensely crafted slew of old-school analogue breakbeats laid in a subtle arrangement,bringing a blend of energy perfect for dancefloors and home listeners alike. Vocalsamples are programmed and twisted like instruments as Chronicle embarks on aspace odyssey with memorable melodies you'll keep discovering listen after listen.

AA1 - Encarta

Next up we have Encarta, which sets out intentions quickly in the introduction with abouncy, clean breakbeat which is quickly bolstered by a superb 2-step old school drumloop to create a pulsating energy. A myriad of samples are collected and fleckedthroughout the mix, while Chronicle's editing techniques mimic a skilled DJ cuttinganother break in and out to satisfying effect towards the back end of the main phases.

AA2 - Angular Momentum

Closing a diverse and uniquely atmospheric EP, Chronicle opens Angular Momentumwith a patchwork of synths and pads, ushering in a serene, simple high note melodyabove the driving breaks - detailed with distinctive cymbals that give the track's nameserious validity. With a slew of samples darting in both the foreground and backgroundfor the listener to enjoy, this is a piece which will live long in the memory.

Experienced Dutch producer Tom Ruijg rightly won praise for his first 12' as Tracey, Skyfall, which surfaced on Voyage Direct in early 2017. Combining elements seemingly inspired by vintage Detroit futurism, '90s ambient techno and his own love of colourful synthesizer melodies, the EP saw Tracey set out his stall in impressive fashion.

Compare and contrast, for example, the two A-side cuts. While Testarossa' is far-sighted and spacey, with Tracey wrapping intergalactic electronics and lilting synthesizer melodies around a darting synthesizer bassline and swinging, electro-influenced house drums, Sidekick' is blissful and almost overwhelmingly melodious: all 16-bit new age motifs, head-in-the-clouds electronics and driving, locked-in machine drums.

The contrasts continue on the B-side, too. Many DJs may instinctively be drawn towards Made My Love', whose energy-packed groove (think vintage Chicago jack with a dollop of slick NYC house soul) is peppered with spacey chords, undulating electronic motifs and glacial melodies. Yet the track that follows, the wild and windy electro workout that is Interceptor', is every bit as potent when played over club sound systems. Kucera & Delayed Sentence Present the Analog Rhythms EP

Releasing a first EP at 35, after more than 20 years listening to alternative music and 10 years of DJing, could only result in something matured - something fermented. Fermented Beats EP is a blend of raw club energy and emotional textures, where grooves meet melodies. Rooted in club music but infused with influences from across genres, it reflects years spent absorbing music from a lot of different angles, distilled into a few tracks that speak both to the body and to the mind.

Fides Records continues its 10-year anniversary with the second chapter X2 following the monumental 10Y OF FIDES: Mixed by Z.I.P.P.O. True to the label’s decade-long pursuit of underground sound and vision, this new instalment deepens the narrative with six striking contributions that embody the raw, hypnotic, and modular essence of the Fides universe.

The A-side opens with Setaoc Mass’s “Quanta” a stripped down, mental techno piece driven by tension and precision. Seddig follows with “Seismic” an intense, driving composition marked by rugged modular energy and deep rhythmic focus, while Casual Treatment’s “Hoover” injects elasticity and bounce through detailed sound design rooted in French minimalism.

Flipping to Side B, Holden Federico’s “Tactics” timeless track based on a 909 framework and a melodic core that balances power and elegance. Augusto Taito’s “No Eye Contact” unfolds as an immersive, restrained groove while Asymptote’s “Encounters” closes the record with cinematic precision, a contemplative yet physical finale true to the Fides aesthetic.

Continually are proud to present Tonchius - Waiting for Tee EP, the long-anticipated debut EP from Continually label head and boss-lady Tonchius. This four-tracker move between steady percussion rhythms, minimalistic acid grooves, electro-breaks, and rooted in the raw energy of hardware drum machines and synthesizers. Crafted over several years, each track weaves together influences from Norwegian woods, mythology, and layered electronic soundscapes. Berlin-based Amy Dabbs makes a long-awaited return to Shall Not Fade with Green Room EP - four uptempo club heaters spanning UKG, high-energy house, and breaks.

The EP’s title pays homage to Renate’s Green Room, the floor within the renowned Berlin club where Dabbs has held her residency since early 2023. Each track was both written for and road-tested at her monthly Dabbs Traxx events in this space, where she’s cultivated a tight-knit community of UKG lovers in the heart of Berlin.

“When I started writing this EP, my goal was to create music that would fit perfectly into my nights in the Green Room, bringing in the London sounds I grew up on, across all the genres I usually play at Renate. This EP is a tribute to everything Renate has given me: opportunity, community, and a platform for my authentic UK sound.”
