T.Raumschmiere erlangte Weltruhm als Ravepunker mit großen Hits wie "Monster Truck Driver", Timo Tolkmitt kennt man von Bands wie DxBxSx, Blutige Knie oder Payola. Das junge Trio (geboren 2021 im Feuermelder, Berlin-Friedrichshain) knüpft an diese Erfolge nahtlos und zeitlos an. Was heißt zeitlos? Wohl eher Zeitgeist! Denn der vergnügt sich eindeutig wieder da, wo es richtig Bock macht: Als Band, Trio, Bass, Gitarre, Schlagzeug, laut und ohne Klick. "7 Estrelas | quem arrancou o céu?" ("7 Stars | Who ripped the sky down?") is the fourth album of the Sao Paulo-based artist Luiza Lian, and her third collaboration with French/Brazilian music producer Charles Tixier. Nearly five years after the celebrated "Azul Moderno", the duo returns to the scene they materialized before a period of darkness that rewrote Brazil's history. And this new visit pushes the boundaries even further with resources that the singer-songwriter had only started exploring on the previous record. The tracks, "Tecnicolor" (featuring the only guest appearance on the album, as Luiza is joined by singer Céu) and "Homenagem" (Homage), continue to explore this new horizon, which becomes increasingly bizarre and deceptive. In addition to layering noises and electronic elements over her musicality, Luiza also explores the range of her vocals by digitally distorting them. The first tracks are just the initial steps in this new work: a profound reflection on how we distort our lives based on false reflections we see both digitally in our use of social media and materially in an increasingly consumerist society. The new album recreates this artificial context in an almost caricatured way, deliberately exaggerated distortions to generate the estrangement we should feel towards the values we cherish and reject based on this false reality we force ourselves to believe in.

Joyce Harris was born in Kentucky in 1939 and moved to New Orleans with her family when she was 13 years old. Harris learned to play guitar, write songs and was soon performing duets with her younger sister Judy. They released three singles – ‘He’s The One’ / ‘Hey Pretty Baby’, ‘Washboard Sam’ / ‘Nursery Rock (Beedle De Bop)’ and ‘Hey Little Baby’/ ‘Rock And Roll Kittens’ – as Judy and Joyce in 1958. When her sister got married, Harris spent a year singing in restaurants in Mexico and a first solo single ‘It’s You’ / ‘The Boy In School’ was released on New York’s U.T. Records at the end of 1959. A talent spotter saw her in Mexico and was impressed enough to secure her an audition with the Austin, Texas-based Domino label. Harris was soon in the studio with Tommy Kaspar and Don Burch of Domino’s vocal quartet, the Slades, to record ‘I Cheated’ / ‘Do You Know What It’s Like To Be Lonesome?’ (R-903) in October 1960. ‘No Way Out’ / ‘Dreamer’ (R-905) followed in January 1961 and sold strongly enough to be licensed to Infinity Records. On 7 April 1961, Harris performed ‘No Way Out’ live on TV on American Bandstand. Three more singles would be issued on different labels between 1963 and 1966.

Harris’ cover version of ‘I Got My Mojo Working’ – backed by Sonny Rhodes’ group the Daylighters –was recorded at the ‘No Way Out’ session and remained unissued until Ace put it out on our “The Domino Records Story” in 1997 (CDCHD 506). With renewed interest in Harris we are delighted to pair this ‘Trailer’ version of ‘I Got My Mojo Working’ with ‘No Way Out’ as a 7” single.

Monte Fiasko, oder der Gipfel der Katastrophe. Das vierte Album der NDW-Postpunker ILLEGALE FARBEN aus Köln legt einen düster-treibenden Soundtrack unter diese großen und kleinen Krisen im Privaten und in der Welt. Die Themen sind dabei so abwechslungsreich wie die Sounds. Es geht um Einsamkeit, Selbstzweifel und Resignation. Illegale Farben zeigen sich also weiterhin nicht von ihrer Spaßvogel-Seite, der Tenor bleibt blau-grau. Neu sind auch die musikalischen Gäste auf Monte Fiasko, neben Stefanie Schrank von Locas in Love ist auch Cecilia Boström von The Baboon Show bei jeweils einem Song mit dabei. Stilistisch ist das Album ein gewagter Mix aus den postpunkigen Klängen der ersten beiden Alben, der kontemplativen Zurückhaltung des letzten Werks, "unbedeutend ungenau", und mitreißendem Indie-Rock. Immer mit einer guten Portion NDW abgerundet, sei es in der Musik oder in den Texten. Hier wurde ein "Album" im klassischen Sinn produziert, das sich natürlich bestenfalls auf LP anhören lässt.

After a 6-year break, a poignant love affair between Life and Death and Marvin & Guy resumes with two catchy but effective tracks that breaks a two-year hiatus from releasing original music.Minimal and purposefully crafted for dancefloors, a departure from the usual emphasis on melodies we all get used to listen from them. This record emerges organically during playful experimentation with just a bass on a synthesizer, preserving its distinctive rhythmic and harmonic changes.The girlfriend's continuous request to play "Who Dis" underscores its contagious allure. Both songs incorporate sounds like shattered glass, opening doors, a whip, and an authentic Formula 1 engine roar – all meticulously recorded specifically for these ideas. There's not really specific creative process beside having fun with synthesizers; it's simply music crafted for the joy of dancing.

Die Wiener Samsara Joyride mit ihrem zweitem Longplayer, dem ersten auf Tonzonen. Von Beginn an stand für die Band eine Fusion des klassischen Rocksounds der 70er und 90er Jahre im Mittelpunkt, dabei bewegt sich die Band stilistisch frei zwischen Blues-, Psych- und Stoner-Rock. Leadgitarrist Michael Haumer übernimmt den größten Teil des Background-Gesangs, wobei sein kräftiger Tenor Miehes dunklen Bariton perfekt ergänzt. Aber auch Laura Fichtenkamms klare und weiche Frauenstimme bildet einen harmonischen Kontrast zur Hauptstimme. Verglichen mit dem ersten Album ist der Gitarrensound von Miehe und Haumer gleichzeitig subtiler und dichter. Wo früher noch live improvisiert wurden, finden sich heute fast ausschließllich in akribischer Kleinarbeit ausgearbeitete Lead-Gitarren-Parts, die mühelos zwischen Blues-, Metal und Stonerrock wechseln. Andreas Mittermühlners mal peitschenden, mal wuchtig stampfenden, immer jedoch punktgenauen Drums und Daniel Batliners vibrierend-groovender, alles andere als im Hintergrund stehender Bass, bilden gemeinsam das Rückgrat und den Puls der Platte, und bieten so den schneidenden Höhen von Haumers Sologitarre Fundament und Rahmen zur Entfaltung. Daraus ergibt sich ein großes Ganzes, das manchmal nach Kyuss, manchmal nach Danzig oder Black Sabbath, manchmal sogar noch Tool oder All Them Witches klingt, immer aber nach Samsara Joyride und als Gesamtwerk weit über die Summe seiner Teile hinauswächst.

Though often lumped in with New Orleans sludge bands like Eyehategod and Crowbar, Thou shares a more spiritual kinship with '90s proto-grunge bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden (all of whom they've covered extensively, both in the studio and onstage). The band's aesthetic and political impulses reflect the obscure '90s DIY hardcore punk found on labels like Ebullition, Vermiform, and Crimethinc. From 2004 through 2016, the band has released four full-length albums, six EPs (some bordering on full lengths), two collaboration records with The Body, and enough material spread out over splits to make up another four or five LPs.

While sonically, Magus may be a continuation of Heathen, thematically it stands as a stark rebuttal, a journey beyond the principles of pleasure and pain. It is more the culmination of these distinct EPs, which all orbit some internal black hole. FFO alienation, absurdity, boredom, futility, decay, the tyranny of history, the vulgarities of change, awareness as agony, reason as disease.

Streamline is proud to present OG23, the first in a series of projected new LPs by Chicago-based composer Kevin Drumm, famous for his string of great releases on labels such as Sonoris, Mego, Moikai, Thin Wrist etc. Ever unpredictable, Drumm this time takes the fellow time-traveller through what sounds like an electronic field recording, a journey through an electronic soundscape of luminescent textures that invites immersive listening.

On Everything Harmony, the fourth full-length studio release from New York's The Lemon Twigs, the prodigiously talented brothers Brian and Michael D'Addario offer 13 original servings of beauty that showcase an emotional depth and musical sophistication far beyond their years as a band, let alone as young men. Everything Harmony successfully blends the brothers' distinct personalities while giving voice to their eclectic influences. Opening the album with the unassuming acoustic folk of plaintive "When Winter Comes Around," which echoes the sophisticated grandeur of classic Simon & Garfunkel recordings, they immediately switch things up to the sunny classic pop motif of "In My Head." "Corner of My Eye" channels an Art Garfunkel-like vocal melody over a moody, vibraphone-tinged backing track suggesting the chamber pop of Brian Wilson. While they had no grand concept for Everything Harmony, both the D'Addarios felt a "palpable mood of defeat" prevailed while writing and recording it. "New To Me" was inspired by their shared experience with loved ones suffering from Alzheimer's, "What You Were Doing" is dressed in the tortured jangle of vintage Big Star, while "Born To Be Lonely," written after watching John Cassavetes' Opening Night, deals with what Brian calls "the fragility that often comes with age." Everything Harmony is a unified song cycle born of shared blood and common purpose. With two musical heads being better than one, there's no shortage of ideas to draw on. Their only impediments are time and the challenge of keeping up with their own prolific musical inspiration. "We share an intuition and tend to be influenced by one another," says Brian, "so the lyrical ideas on this record tend to complement each other. Writing has never been the issue for us. It's completing, editing and compiling that takes the time. We're trapped in a web of songs!"

Joe Yellow is a studio project started in 1983 by Domenico Ricchini and the producers Miki Chieregato and Roberto Turatti.Their big hit Eurobeat / Hi NRG tune "U.S.A."('92) will be 7inch on first time, with Japanese imaginary jacket.The song became famous in Japan when dance-pop group Da pump covered it.

Speak to most musicians about their motivations, inspirations and processes and you will, generally, get variations on a similar, broadly consensual, theme. Natasha Pirard is genuinely different. Her interest in sound goes way beyond the superficial and the ephemeral. She is fascinated by how and why sound makes us feel, the political implications of sound, noise pollution and the everyday sounds embedded in our immediate environment.

Contextually, this makes a lot of sense when confronted with her debut release for DEEWEE, Dream Cycles. A 120-minute exploration of sounds, loops, frequencies and waves, it’s an eight- part musical cycle split into 15-minute sections across four cassettes, she believes, reflects on this notion of cyclical, rather than linear, time. The eight song cycles are repetitive. They start off basic and functional and build over time. They begin with one sound but soon you hear other sounds. From there you get taken to another point, where you hear something else and so on and so forth. The circle is never-ending.

Natasha Pirard is a musicologist and composer from Ghent. She will be releasing her album Dream Cycles in February 2024, as a limited edition four cassette box set, marking her debut on the Ghent-based label DEEWEE.

This Dutch music project was created in the late 1980s by two graphic designers, Edwin Van Der Laag and Huib Shippers, who were in love with electronic music. Their debut album is divided into two parts, the first with Edwin’s music and the second with Huib’s. Obviously Van Der Laag’s songs are inspired by Laserdance, for which Van Der Laag also designed album covers, however Shippers’ part is slightly different, less aggressive, trance-inducing, which makes the whole album truly extraordinary. This is the first vinyl reissue of this album since its first appearance.

Inimitable post-rock outsiders A Burial At Sea return with `Close To Home', a soaring sonic love letter to the places and people that shaped them, the collective's first new music since the eponymous debut full-length in 2020, `Close To Home' is a breathtaking evolution of their unique, brass-led blend of shoegaze, math-metal and blissed out afro-jazz that draws inspiration, influence and insight from the rich Gaelic cultural heritage of their Irish homeland. A new name in the Dutch rock scene. Old acquaintances, new songs, a new album, a new adventure... the past ten years have been dominated by 4 full albums in a row, numerous performances (see selection below), rave reviews in the (inter)national press and all under the name BYT (aka BloYaTop).

The switch to a new band name was obvious when the band entered into collaboration with producer MARIO GOOSSENS (Triggerfinger) and the choice was made to return to the roots of rock music, resulting in a week of live and analog recordings in the already
legendary TRYPOUL RECORDING STUDIOS, allowing the band to capture the live energy for which they are known. Mastering took place in New York by none other than Fred Kevorkian, where greats such as Iggy Pop, Maroon 5 and many others had already found
their way.

Originally released in 1984, following the band"s evolution from the Southern Death Cult, to Death Cult, and then simply The Cult, Dreamtime finds the outfit featuring Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, pivoting from their goth and punk roots into something eclectic, aspirational, and adventurous. Rife with lyrical references to the indigenous cultures of the Americas and Australia, and set against a more bombastic and muscular musical backdrop, Dreamtime hints at what would envelop the band over the next four decades, a dedication to their wholly unique songwriting, both musically and thematically, and the frenzy that was soon to come with the release of Love only a year later. "Spiritwalker," the first single from the album, hit #1 on the U.K."s independent chart.

Modern English’s new album, 1 2 3 4 – produced by Mario McNulty (David Bowie, Lou
Reed, Nine Inch Nails), mixed by Cenzo Townsend and mastered at Abbey Road – retains
the intrinsic spirit of the early, post-punk days and is also a sterling sonic example of what
Modern English have always done best. The album encompasses seething songs with punk
bite, keyboard-forward melodic rockers and simmering, darkwave-meets-post-punk gems.

Das 2.Album von Schubmodul "Lost In Kelp Forest" ist ein Konzeptalbum, das sich thematisch nicht wie beim Vorgänger in den unendlichen Weiten des Weltraums, sondern in einer Unterwasserwelt abspielt. Die sechs hauptsächlich instrumentalen Stücke werden dabei durch Erzählerstimmen belgeitet, die eine zusammenhängende fiktionale Geschichte auf einem dichten atmosphärischen Soundteppich erzählen (Stimmen Alma Chomel aus Frankreich und Shane Wilson aus den USA). Als Fundament donnert das Dreigestirn, geformt in klassischer Besetzung von Gitarre, Bass und Schlagzeug, einen Mix aus Space-, Stoner- und Progressiv-Rock auf's Parkett der gelegentlich durch Synthesizer, Sound- und Sprachsamples ergänzt wird. Verträumte, atmosphärische Passagen treffen auf kolossale Riffs und münden häufig in einem epischen melodischen Zenit aus voluminösen, warmen Sounds, über die sich sanfte bis schnelle Gitarrensoli entladen. Die Kompositionen bedienen sich dabei einer großen modalen Palette und vielseitige Harmonien, die den Zuhörer immer wieder überraschen. Ein sehr hohen Grad an Detailverliebtheit der auch beim mehrmaligen Hören spannend bleibt. Als Inspirationen zu diesem Album diente der Band genretypische Größen wie Elder, King Buffalo, progressivere Bands wie Dream Theatre und Elemente aus der Filmmusik von Hans Zimmer. Das komplette Album wurde in nur 6 Tagen in der legendären Tonmeisterei eingespielt.

Boys Like Girls have enjoyed a meteoric rise after forming as teenagers in 2004. First making waves in 2018 with unbridled bombastic creativity of `_And The Sum Of Its Parts' EP, A Burial At Sea turned the traditionally austere post-rock frown upside down. 'And Also The Trees' compelling new album, 'Mother-of-Pearl Moon', was born from a series of extraordinary electric guitar improvisations created by guitarist Justin Jones in the pre- and postdawn hours during a month of solitude in 2020. Each piece then developed in its own way - the guitar, often left in its raw, unaltered form, is accompanied by the voice of his brother Simon, bringing imagery and narrative, Colin Ozanne's clarinet and piano adding poise, colour and harmony, Paul Hill's percussion creating depth_ on occasion an autoharp, a Moog_ all leading the listener from the depths of the English countryside far out in all directions of the compass. The music is often filmic, reminiscent of various film genres from the '50s to the '70s. This is most apparent in 'This path through the meadow', a song that explores the intertwining of human nature and nature in its animal and botanic form, and in its video where the band appear to be performing to an imaginary screening. Elsewhere, the album title track transports the listener across the oceans to the Far East...and to its exotic gardens, still waters and the 'Mother-of-pearl moon'. And Also The Trees (AATT) formed during the original post-punk era in rural Worcestershire, an environment that has provided a constant inspiration to a group whose music has often explored the dark underbelly as well as the beauty of the British countryside. They are renowned for their captivating live performances, a unique style of mandolin-like electric guitar, evocative lyrics and dark jazz rhythms - not to mention a creative independence fiercely preserved for over four decades. Founded by singer Simon Jones and his guitarist brother Justin, AATT have maintained a continuous presence on the post-punk, alternative rock and Gothic scenes worldwide. They have released fifteen studio albums.

Originally released in 1984, following the band"s evolution from the Southern Death Cult, to Death Cult, and then simply The Cult, Dreamtime finds the outfit featuring Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, pivoting from their goth and punk roots into something eclectic, aspirational, and adventurous. REMO DRIVE, the longstanding project of brothers Erik and Stephen Paulson, want you to feel something. Following a six-year run of pristine emo-influenced rock "n" roll records comes Mercy, the band"s fourth album and third for Epitaph. It"s the band"s most lyric-focused offering to date, a record about reinvention, trusting yourself, and wearing your heart on your sleeve even when it"s painful or vulnerable. It was produced by Phil Ek, a legendary Seattle-based indie rock producer who has previously worked with those two bands as well as the Shins and Band of Horses, among others. REMO DRIVE worked with Ek over the course of ten days. "It was refreshing to work with Phil," says Erik, "It made music feel like how it did when we were younger. He was like fuck it, let"s go, let"s have fun." Introducing the anticipated 7" re-release of the Equasions single 'It's So Hard To Say "So Long"' & 'World Of Lonliness'. A timeless soul/funk single recorded in San Antonio in 1971, revered by sweet soul collectors internationally, has now become available for the first time in over 50 years through Symphonical Records, in partnership with band leader/songwriter, Robert Williams.

This limited repress is a testament to the sound of San Antonio. The Equasions were immersed in the city's defining impression, performing alongside other local acts Royal Jestors, Sunny & The Sunliners, The Primes, Joe Jama plus many more, all of whom worked to carve out the Alamo sound, one that resonates continues to inspire today.

The 5-piece vocal group, led by Robert Williams, consisted of Vernon Shannon, James Hartfield, Ricky Cotton, and Lamar Sumter. Brackenridge High School graduates, the group were formerly known as 'The Volumes', with their first single being released on Manny Guerra's imprint, 'Garu'. Two years later, the group switched members and formed their new name, recording their single at Joey Internationals studio.

Robert remarks that both songs were written as a universal message; for no one in particular but everyone can relate to. 'It's So Hard To Say "So Long"', is a poignant sentiment to lost love, yet hope created through beautiful harmonies, whereas 'World Of Lonliness' is a psychedelic reflection of society of the era, which Robert mentions remains true today.

Thee Alcoholics are the brainchild of Rhys Llewellyn, a longtime Rocket Recordings alumnus whose background leans as heavily into the bassbin-shaking realms of electronic music as it does the tinnitus-inducing world of howling, cranked-up ampstacks. Not content with hammering drumskins for numerous floor-shaking records on the Rocket discography from the likes of Hey Colossus and The Notorious Hi-Fi Killers, he’s also been responsible for brain-rearranging electronic works under the Drmcnt and Acidliner monikers. Thee Alcoholics, however - which initially gestated as a result of Rhys himself wanting to pursue the somewhat hostile sound in his own head during lockdown - maps out a collision course between all of the above. Cranky and cantankerous yet lysergically aligned, Feedback is mesmeric rock with swagger, warped into sci-fi shapes by the spirit and sonics of bass and soundsystem culture. The psychedelic shapes here are redolent of the ur-klang of The Fall and the monolithic lurch of The Heads, the motorik malevolence less an uplifting trip to the heavens than a drill down to the earth’s core. Discernible in these jackhammer beats, grimly murmured vocals and delirious dirges to certain heads may be the trash futurism of Chrome, the decomposed stomp of unsung legends Earl Brutus and the electro-punk attack of Six Finger Satellite, yet all of the above co-ordinates are waylaid effortlessly by a balls-out intensity and a 6 fearsome intent on aural oblivion at all costs. Feedback may be elemental and primal, yet this is no psych comfort-blanket nor retrofetishism, rather a repetition-driven journey headlong into intimidating territory unknown. Get on board and strap yourselves in for a bumpy ride.

Perifaerye is a multi-part work of art comprising of 18 soundscapes, 36 digital drawings and 24 writings. Perifaerye is at once a record release, a book, a website; in the autumn of 2023 a series of playlists were published on billboards, linking the online soundscapes to the real-life physical realm. This publication is an artistic hybrid: a vinyl record / book combining sound, image and text.

The 18 audio works condense the sounds of the urban periphery into a sonic cartography. In Hamburg-Eidelstedt, people live in smaller detached houses and in larger apartment blocks. New housing estates have been developed recently in direct neighbourhood to the motorway, and currently in the district centre; a district where post-war housing estates and architectural remnants from a village past co-exist. Even meadows and fields, surrounded by the noise of motorways and other traffic, aeroplanes (the airport is close by) and railways (passenger and und freight trains, long distance, regional and local services). This collection of soundscapes – each a short composition on its own – presents a sonic portrait of a contemporary urban area.

In spring 2023, Jorn Ebner recorded the urban spaces of the Hamburg district of Eidelstedt. For each audio piece there is an image. The artist’s writings reflect and accompany the creative process.

For this book and record, Sebastian Kokus and Thomas Korf created a very haptic design. Each part of the whole can be experienced as a single piece: the A2-sized poster is part of the outer sleeve; the booklet presents image and text (German only); the record is visible through the holes in the inner and outer sleeves and forms part of the cover.
