After completing his nationwide run with Ice Nine kills, the rocker has been hard at work prepping Cruel World. The collection of songs includes several notable features, including the likes of From First To Last, as well as Ice Nine Kills. The 9-song minialbum is chock full of TX2's well-known hard-hitting sinister sound, and he's bringing an added dose of heavy with these new songs as well. Fan-favorite track "MAD," which has seen 10,000+ video creates on TikTok and has created an unstoppable buzz around the project. In den 1960er Jahren zählten der Hammond-Organist und der Gitarrist zweifelsfrei zu den prägendsten
und populärsten Jazzmusikern. Bei den gemeinsamen Sessions für ”The Dynamic Duo” wurden die beiden
Virtuosen 1966 von einer nicht minder dynamischen Big Band unter der Leitung des Meisterarrangeurs

„What Separates Me From You”, das erfolgreiche vierte Studioalbum von A Day to Remember, kehrt als
limitierte 15-jährige Jubiläumsausgabe auf Vinyl zurück.
Mit Klassikern wie „All I Want” und „All Signs Point to Lauderdale” markierte dieses genreübergreifende
Album eine bedeutende klangliche und inhaltliche Weiterentwicklung der Band aus Ocala, Florida. Während

Da ich schon seit Jahren von Andrew Chalks Arbeit mit MIRROR (und auch von seinen Solo-Projekten als FERIAL CONFINE sowie seinen vielen Kollaborationen mit David Jackman, The New Blockaders, Daisuke Suzuki usw.) und Timo van Luijk (als Af Ursin, In Camera, La Poupée Vivante und Kollaborationen mit Kris Vanderstraeten und anderen) fasziniert, war ich natürlich neugierig, von ihrem Duo-Projekt ELODIE zu hören. Das Projekt wurde 2010 gegründet und hat bis heute schon elf wunderschöne Alben rausgebracht. ,Vieux Silence" für Ideologic Organ ist ihre erste Veröffentlichung außerhalb ihres eigenen Plattenlabels Faraway Press & La Scie Dorée. Das ist aber nicht das erste Mal, dass Ideologic Organ und ELODIE zusammenarbeiten. Sie traten im Februar 2012 bei einem von mir kuratierten Abend in London zusammen mit Jessika Kenney und Eyvind Kang auf. Elodies Auftritt war einer der feinfühligsten und gekonntesten, die ich je gesehen habe ... so still, während draußen vor den Fenstern des Cafe Oto in London der Schnee fiel, versank das Publikum spürbar in hochkonzentriertem Zuhören. Die Erinnerung daran ist echt beeindruckend, wenn man bedenkt, wie sparsam die einzelnen Elemente an diesem Abend eingesetzt wurden. ,Vieux Silence" und ELODIE im Allgemeinen regen sofort die visuelle Vorstellungskraft an, vielleicht gefiltert durch alte Aquarelle, Bandkorn, antike Linsen, vergessene Ebenen des Zuhörens und beobachtende Geduld. Auf diesem wunderschönen Album arbeiten Chalk & van Luijk auch mit Klavier, Pedal Steel und Klarinette zusammen (gespielt von Tom James Scott, Daniel Morris und Jean-Noel Rebilly). The brilliantly named duo - formed by Adam Morrow and Jamie Sego - might be based in "the hit recording capital of the world", Muscle Shoals, Alabama, but somehow, they have made a concept album about the ancient religious outpost off the coast of northeast England. It's a stunning record that mixes fuzzy guitars with folk horror and fantastic melodies - for fans of Ride, Slowdive, Galaxie 500, Talk Talk, Yo La Tengo and The Clientele. Despite its lyrical inspiration lying thousands of miles away, it comes imbued with the soulfulness of their surroundings - not least because it was recorded in the old Muscle Shoals Sound studio by the Tennessee River, now Portside Sound, which is run by Jamie. "The story of Lindisfarne gave us a framework for what were otherwise very abstract ideas and emotions," explains Adam. "It became a way to make sense of our own moment in history. We really want our lives and societies to always get better, and to be left alone to make that happen. But we are stuck in these cycles of progress and regression, and I think most people are really driven to make sense of it and assign meaning. Lately, we've lived through a global pandemic, a devaluation of truth and reality, and a resurgence of far-right politics into the mainstream. Not really what I expected out of life in 2025." He is keen to point out that, despite the seriousness of its inspirations, the duo had a lot of fun making the album and really want it to be "a living and breathing thing". "We want people to be able to engage with it regardless of whether they care about it as a concept record," he says. "For me, it's just another reason to expand the pedalboard," concludes Jamie. For our ninth offering we have ventured out of our small but fertile swamp in search of another source of magick. Meandering across boggy pastures new, we crossed paths with Steevio, who sat hovering serenely in the fern covered shade of a nearby valley. Instantly recognising the singular vision of this fabled artist, we hastily gathered our nets and cast them under Steevio’s branches, capturing four beautiful offerings as they wriggled towards us. Upon the return to our mulch, it became clear that we could not contain Steevio’s creations, so willful was their vitality. It was therefore all we could do to release them back to the universal dance from whence they came.

The dance germinates with the writhing polyrhythmic ‘Apricity’. Hearing the crunch of frost laden grass beneath our webbed toes, we look above us to search for the sun. Angular beams of light escape over the horizon, as the warmth of Steevio’s machines coalesce. A glistening hi hat breaks through the membrane to bind his creation and anchor its ever shifting arms.

‘Octopus’ glides gracefully through a sun-dappled kelp forest. Sub frequencies rumble up from the shadowy darkness below, rippling along the fronds as they ascend. As the ocean begins to churn, a wriggling melodic tentacle parts the foliage, gleaming with primordial energy. Its joyful visit to the surface realm leaves us with a brief yet powerful reminder of the mystery beneath.

The glow of the midwinter sun warms our bones on ‘Apricity (Sunrise Mix)’. Percussive elements bubble out of the depths, forming intricate cascading patterns as they grow over the perfectly formed kicks. The moog filter tames the brew with Steevio’s intuitive restraint , until he releases its mighty power upon the gleeful forest dwellers, to their rapturous gratitude.

With ‘Adref’ we return home. The sedate tempo provides oceanic space for a melody which inhales and exhales over a familiar landscape of perfectly tuned percussion. With each breath the melody seems to increase its reach, until it’s buried deep within our bones, its memory resonating on long after it’s gone.

Steevio’s music reflects the universal moments where seemingly chaotic and disparate elements are suddenly revealed to be perfectly harmonious. Of course examples of this are always universally present in nature, and have been eternally, but we have to be reminded to appreciate them. In the same way that a wave deposits a perfect line of shells on a beach, dew freezes on grass, or individual strands of mycelial hyphae bind together to form incredible patterns, Steevio’s music is likewise; effortlessly considered. For us, it has more in common with the unrelenting flow of a river than it does with dance music. It is psychedelic music in the same sense that nature is intuitively psychedelic; without ever leaning into any tried tropes of what is culturally considered ‘psychedelic’ music.

The Chisa Years: 1965-1975 (Rare and Unreleased) is a compilation album by South African jazz trumpeter Hugh Masekela. The album consists of 14 rare or forgotten tracks recorded by Stewart Levine and Hugh Masekela from 1965 to 1975 when they ran their own Chisa Records label.Thom Jurek of Allmusic wrote 'In sum, there isn't a weak moment on this entire collection. It's appeal is wide and deep and one can only hope this is the first of many volumes of this material to appear. BBE Records has done a stellar job in making this slab available.' Dan Nishimoto of the Prefix Magazine stated 'The compilation focuses on Masekela's original idea of 'African American Music.' From the early experiments of the Zulus (a group featuring M'Bulu) in mixing doo-wop, rhythm & blues and South African gospel and the mbaqanga/'Grazing in the Grass'-style work of the generically named Johannesburg Street Band to the clearly Fela-influenced Ojah (Masekela's band in the mid-'70s, consisting of players from Ghana and Nigeria) and the readyfor-primetime belting of M'Bulu, each track reveals a multi-pronged effort to find and challenge the notion(s) of how African and American cultural forms could interact.'

Moods & Grooves welcomes back Romanian producer Andu Simion, nearly a decade after his first appearance on the label with Les Sons De La Lisière, the 2014 debut of Lisière Collectif. Since then, Simion has carved out a reputation as one of the most exciting names in the European underground, delivering a string of refined minimal
techno and microhouse releases that highlight his meticulous approach to groove and sound design.

fließend miteinander – musikalisch übersetzt in eindrucksvolle, einzigartige improvisierte Klanglandschaften,
die auch heute noch frisch und von der Zeit unberührt klingen. In den Worten des Jazztimes-Magazins
aus dem Erscheinungsjahr des Albums: „Das Ergebnis ist eine wundersame, losgelöste Atmosphäre, in der
sich die unverwechselbaren ethnischen Prägungen der Musiker verweben, ohne das interkulturelle Thema
zu erzwingen oder die Eigenständigkeit der einzelnen Teile zu verwässern. Hier klingen Norwegen und der
Nahe Osten wie Nachbarn mit einem gemeinsamen Anliegen.“ Das Album, ursprünglich 1992 aufgenommen
und 1994 veröffentlicht, wurde von Manfred Eicher produziert. Es erscheint zum ersten Mal überhaupt auf
Vinyl im Rahmen der Luminessence-Serie, in einer 2-LP-Tip-on-Gatefold-Ausgabe.

Seit etwas mehr als zwanzig Jahren gehören die Schwestern Bianca und Sierra Casady zur musikalischen Avantgarde der experimentellen Popmusik und haben die Liebe, die Härte und die Ekstase ihrer Schwesternschaft in eine der gewagtesten, gefährlichsten und originellsten Musiken verwandelt, die unsere zunehmend hygienisierte Kultur kennt. Das Album navigiert durch eine Abfolge von fragmentierten Klangvignetten: zerfallende Umgebungen, monumentale Stille und reale wie auch innere Landschaften. Die Struktur wird durchlässig. Jedes Stück deutet sowohl auf Präsenz als auch auf Verschwinden hin. Häufig wurden mehrere Stücke isoliert geschrieben und ohne Synchronisation übereinandergelegt, sodass absichtliche Dissonanzen die resultierenden Texturen bestimmten. Dieser Ansatz begünstigt Drift und Reibung, wobei Melodien durch verschwommene Intervalle geistern und eine Spannung zwischen Erinnerung und Verzerrung erzeugen. Das Album beginnt mit ,Fields", wo schwache Gitarrenphrasen in hohlen, resonanten Tönen versinken, die eher erinnert als gespielt wirken. An den Rändern flackert Wärme, gefiltert und entfernt, wie Licht, das sich durch Ruß drängt. In ,Holodiscus" treiben elegische Linien über einer sanften Unterströmung von Dissonanzen und widerstehen leise dem Sog in Richtung Zusammenbruch. Der Titeltrack gleitet zwischen Klarheit und Verzerrung und verwandelt harmonische Fragmente in ein schimmerndes Gitter aus Verfall. Während des gesamten Albums dehnen anhaltende Töne die Zeit zu einer Unschärfe, während bearbeitete Gitarrenklänge wie Echos aus benachbarten Räumen auftauchen und wieder verschwinden. Jedes Stück trägt eine emotionale Prägung, ohne eine Richtung vorzugeben, und hinterlässt Texturen, die sich sowohl taktil als auch unruhig anfühlen. Diese Dualität der Größenordnung - immens und winzig - fließt in die Klangpalette des Albums ein. In ,Sea Storm" brodelt und zieht der tiefe Klang nach unten und verstreut dabei Gitarrenfragmente. ,Before the Rite" schwillt mit abrasiver Dichte und verzerrten Obertönen an - ein Moment der fast überwältigenden Intensität, der sich gerade noch im Gleichgewicht hält. Die Klänge bleiben in der Schwebe und weigern sich, sich aufzulösen.Achlys bewegt sich durch ein Gebiet wechselnder Schwellen - wo Licht und Schatten, Struktur und Erosion nebeneinander existieren, ohne sich in Gegensätze aufzulösen. Anstatt auf eine klare Schlussfolgerung abzuzielen, bietet das Album eine zyklische Form von Entstehung und Erosion. Es ist klanglich dicht und doch weitläufig, emotional resonant, aber losgelöst von jeder Erzählung. Nichts hier ist feststehend. Alles trägt die Spur davon, einmal etwas anderes gewesen zu sein. Während einige Fragmente verblassen und andere nachklingen, prägen sie alle die Atmosphäre.

Mit 3 - The Shackleton Versions erscheint eine faszinierende Neuinterpretation des gefeierten Saagara-Albums 3. Der britische Produzent Shackleton verwandelt die Originalstücke in ein düsteres, hypnotisches Paralleluniversum zwischen Dub, Ambient und globaler Rhythmik. Statt klassischer Remixe liefert er ein ganzes "Schattenalbum", das die Klangsprache von 3 aufgreift, erweitert und neu beleuchtet. Waclaw Zimpel, einer der spannendsten Musiker Europas, hat sich in den letzten Jahren vom Jazz-Klarinettisten zum innovativen Elektronik-Produzenten entwickelt. Gemeinsam mit Saagara - einer virtuosen Formation südindischer Perkussionisten - erschafft er Klangräume, die zwischen Tradition und futuristischer Clubästhetik oszillieren. Shackleton greift diese Vision auf und führt sie weiter: Die Tracks wirken wie ein Dialog zwischen zwei musikalischen Welten, voller Respekt, Tiefe und rhythmischer Spannung. Besonders eindrucksvoll: "Northern Wind Brings Redemption" und "Where Is That Blossom" - im Original stark, in Shackletons Version nahezu magisch.

Die erste Single von einem der vielversprechendsten neuen Stars der aktuellen Soul-Szene. Tauche ein in die Welt von Taylor Williams, einem talentierten jungen Soulsänger aus Greensboro, North Carolina. Er wurde der Colemine-Familie durch Blake Rhein, dem Gitarristen der Indications, vorgestellt und fand sofort eine kreative Verbindung zu Label-Besitzer Terry Cole. Seine erste Single für Colemine wurde in der Portage Lounge in Loveland, Ohio, mit Charles Alley am Schlagzeug aufgenommen. Taylor strahlt einfach Talent, Charisma und Freundlichkeit aus. Kurz nachdem die Rhythmus-Tracks für ,Dreaming" aufgenommen waren, schrieb er schnell den Refrain und die Strophen und nahm seinen Gesang im ersten Anlauf auf. Auf der B-Seite dieser 45er-Single ist Taylor Williams mit seiner Interpretation eines Juwels der Numero Group von The Exceptional Three zu hören. Produziert von Leroi Conroy in roher und minimalistischer Weise, bringt Taylor diesen staubigen Song ins Jahr 2025, ohne dabei die eindringliche Authentizität des Originals zu verlieren. Mr. Williams verleiht dem Track nicht nur seine hochfliegende und gefühlvolle Stimme, sondern spielt auch Gitarre, Orgel und Vibraphon. Ein wahrer Renaissance-Soul-Mann!

There's an app that tells you so. I wonder, too, what that app doesn't reveal, if their nature need not share those same purposes. This is simply (never simply) how it exists.
