Limited Clear Vinyl edition, 300 copies! This is Lee Morgan’s second release as a leader. At the time of the recording (1956) Morgan was just 18 and he was already shining like a mature soloist and solid band leader. Another attracting point in this set is that the most of the tracks are composed by the great Benny Golson. A beautiful hard swinging bop session featuring Hank Mobley on tenor, Horace Silver on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, Charlie Persip on drums – plus the obscure Kenny Rodgers on alto sax. Originally released on Blue Note in 1957 this album stands as a strong early piece in Lee Morgan discography

Limited Clear Vinyl edition, 500 copies! Originally released in 1953 on Charles Mingus’s own “Debut” label, this is Paul Bley’s historical debut album.
Here the young talented and technically strong pianist appears as leader of a super-trio with nothing but Mingus himself on bass and Art Blakey
on drums. This is a beautifully varied set including both renditions of classic standards such as “I can’t get Started”, and Bley’s early originals like
“Opus 1” and “Spontaneous Combustion” This is where you can hear the very beginning of a truly unique musical voice in Jazz history.
John Carpenter has been responsible for much of the horror genre’s most striking soundtrack work in the fifteen movies he’s both directed and scored. The themes can instantly flood his fans’ musical memory with imagery of a menacing shape stalking a babysitter, a relentless wall of ghost-filled fog, lightning-fisted kungfu fighters, or a mirror holding the gateway to hell.
The music on Lost Themes is there for Carpenter’s acolytes to visualize their own nightmares.
As is Carpenter’s style, repetition is the key to the thundering power of these tracks, their energy swirling with shredding chords, soaring organs, unnerving pianos and captivating percussion. Horror fans will be reminded of Carpenter’s past works, as well as ancestors like Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells and Goblin’s Suspiria.“They’re little moments of score from movies made in our imagina- tions,” Carpenter says. “Now I hope it inspires people to create films that could be scored with this music.”
Sacred Bones is now repressing this incredible debut by the one and only master of horror in a bunch of new colors in celebration of the label’s 15th year anniversary.

The boss and first lady of MoFunk Records take it back to their street funk roots with this split 7” & double single release. XL Middleton’s “I Can’t Believe It” & Moniquea’s “Get It Together” are two variations on one vibe - that uptempo, synth heavy modern boogie sound that feels right at home whether you’re cruising the boulevard with it or getting down to it on the dance floor.
XL’s “I Can’t Believe It” may come across like a dedication to a shady lady but is really a larger meditation on the world we live in, while Moniquea’s “Get It Together” is an exhortation not to pass good love by. Vinyl pressing limited to 300 copies. TRACKLIST: 1. XL Middleton - I Can't Believe It 2. Moniquea - Get It Together
Deca’s streak of entrancing releases continues with Smoking Gun, an album that deftly blends psychedelic, raw production with sharp insights and clever lyricism. But it’s also much more than that. Smoking Gun is a sonic representation of an artist grappling with living in America, a country with a network of broken systems that leaves Deca questioning when and if it may turn around. To say this all makes for a compelling listen would be a vast understatement, because the New York City-based rapper/producer knows the key to presenting this material. He does it in a way that’s both refreshing and new, but never isolating or simply too oddball. There’s a left-field quality to his work, but Deca knows exactly what he’s doing. To prove that point, he enlisted fellow outside-the-box thinkers like Blu and Homeboy Sandman to appear on some of the album’s standout cuts. “Shelter,” which features Blu, is a jazzy, dusty piece of thoughtful hip-hop with crazy flows and lyrics to match. It’s so good you’ll wish these two would record an entire project together, and the same goes for Boy Sand’s appearance on “Dawn Wind.” Backed by Deca’s own low-key funky production, both he and Homeboy Sandman go verse for verse, each offering their own take on how to liberate yourself from the machine that aims to surveil and control both our outer world and inner peace. Other tracks embody a similar energy, including the justifiably cynical “St. America (feat. DJ Stan Solo)” and stunning “Tuning.” The latter track may just be the most impressive piece on Smoking Gun, thanks in part to the mind-melting beat-switch. It’s a thrilling musical journey that furthers Deca’s narrative about mankind’s ethical plight, and the problems we collectively face. TRACKLIST: 1. Smoking Gun (Intro) 2. St. America (feat. DJ Stan Solo) 3. Tuning 4. Blight 5. Flight Path (feat. Ichiban, DJ AWHAT!) 6. Hive of Industry 7. Crab Apples 8. Shelter (feat. Blu) 9. Tunnel Under 10. Dawn Wind (feat. Homeboy Sandman) 11. TH has recently completed score and sound on cinema projects with artist film makers including Shezad Dawood, Georgina Starr, Noor Afshan Mirza, Brad Butler and Patrick Goddard. As well as writing music for picture, TH is a core member of the London Snorkelling Team, who recently performed the world Premier of Gavin Bryars' On Lassus for the Collège de Pataphysique in Paris. In 2022, TH wrote a large scale live percussion ensemble score for artist Georgina Starr's Gelato Balleto.
The two pieces on this LP were generated from musical material found within a 14-minute recording of Sainsbury's supermarket, Chingford, UK. The source recording contains music-like material, scanner bleeps and conveyor belt drones. This material, once isolated, cross-processed and re-recorded, reveals vivid extended electroacoustic versions of itself. The compositions use film sound restoration processing, mixed with compositional techniques popular in classic early electronic music and musique concrète including pointalist collage, and ring modulation.

“They’d been living in Europe for months. They’d appeared in Cannes and at Knokke (…) yet the only thing missing was the consecration that a great concert in Paris would bring. They won that last battle with astounding brio, in front of an audience of connoisseurs. There were many there who thought modern jazz had never been so well- served in Paris.” (Jazz Magazine). Hard bop had arrived! Hallelujah! On its first French appearance, in July ‘58 at the Cannes Festival – the first and only Cannes jazz festival – the Donald Byrd Quintet had brought the house down. Yet four of its five members were relatively unknown in France… The French knew that the leader had replaced Kenny Dorham in the Jazz Messengers, that Doug Watkins was the Messengers’ bassist, and that pianist Walter Davis Jr. was still only 18 when he’d played with Charlie Parker. As for Art Taylor, even if his name meant something to fans, it was still difficult for people to have a more precise idea of his musical qualities. Only Bobby Jaspar was well-known to Paris audiences, and the tour marked the return of the prodigal son, the musician who’d decided, after setting the Club St. Germain on fire, to try his luck in the States early in 1956 – J.J. Johnson had hired him, and then Miles Davis (for a short spell) before Donald Byrd brought him into the group he was taking to Europe. This new tour would climax at the Olympia theatre during one of the “Jazz Wednesdays” that were organised there, ever since the Jazz At Carnegie Hall” tour – Zoot Sims, JJ. Johnson, Lee Konitz, Phineas Newborn – had inaugurated the series a little earlier. Byrd and his band took pains not to disappoint a Paris audience they knew to be particularly fickle, and they astutely varied the public’s pleasures throughout the evening. The complicity that united the rhythm section – Walter Davis Jr., Doug Watkins and Art Taylor – was much in evidence on Ray’s Idea; mistrusting the traps of the spectacular at all costs, Donald Byrd, producing brilliant inventions on the trumpet, took the lion’s share of the honours on a theme that was then much in fashion, Dear Old Stockholm, adapted from a Swedish traditional song; on Flute Blues, Bobby Jaspar proved he was still a specialist on that instrument, and Paul’s Pal showed that, on tenor, the playing of Sonny Rollins hadn’t gone unnoticed. It must be said that it didn’t have much effect on the discreet lyricism underlying the choruses he played during his “St. Germain” period. The Olympia spectators weren’t sparing in their applause for the five musicians. How else could they have reacted, faced with the fire the band showed during a tune like The Blues Walk? It wouldn’t take much for us to applaud, too, even if it is fifty-five years later…

Miet, the solo project of musician Suzy LeVoid, was born out of a form of absolute urgency, to make music at all costs Self- taught, when she started playing bass in 2013, the desire to compose and perform on stage quickly led her to create this one-woman band, where the bass
and the voice are the foundations of a raw, sincere, skin-deep music.Only backed
by a looper, she writes and performs alone, and quickly made her way onto the
French stages, appearing alongside Jeanne Added or Shannon Wright.
Although she's always alone on stage or in the studio, Miet expresses how much
the discovery of otherness nourishes her creation, to the point of having chosen
for this second album, still in English, a title in German 'Auslander'. For the
Nantes-based singer, this term means the magic of an unexplained but familiar
word. This "foreigner", or more exactly this "other", seems to take on the
appearance of a character that we learn to discover throughout the ten tracks of
the album.
Suzy LeVoid's newest offering is full of her unique signature sound : abrasive
rock, a deeply personal blend of sound loops, hypnotic rhythms and powerful
distorted bass lines. Strongly inspired by the work of Walt Whitman, Miet, like the
American poet, subtly uses repetition to give a hypnotic character to her lyrics.
This feeling of hypnosis is largely accentuated by the sequence of sound loops,
creating a perception of an infinite cycle and thus giving birth to an almost
mystical atmosphere.
On the album Opening, Tord Gustavsen reveals a fresh angle to his
particularly unique trio investigations into Scandinavian folk hymns,
gospel, chorale and jazz, as he introduces a different voice on bass
With a new fellow- traveller on board and its recording premiere in Lugano's
Auditorio Stelio Molo, the trio discovers inspired new ways to interact with each
other, using innovative approaches to sound and technique in the process. Made
up in equal parts of intricately textured improvisations and understated melodic
hooks, the group's conversations bring an enticing unfamiliarity to the language
the Norwegian pianist has developed over almost two decades of collaboration
with ECM.
Tord Gustavsen: piano, electronics
Steinar Raknes: double bass, electronics
Jarle Vespestad: drums
Press:
"Vibrates between the introspective and the dramatic in rich and singular ways.
Scene-setting opener 'The Circle' sees Gustavsen exploring a modal melodic line
of beguiling simplicity, with the trio's sotto voce approach creating an atmosphere
of hushed intimacy." - **** Jazzwise (Editor's Choice)
"The focus of Opening remains the playing from Gustavsen and the rich
accompaniment from his fellow musicians, creating an atmosphere perfect for a
walk by a cabin at dawn, with the sun peeking in through the trees." - Pitchfork
"Norwegian piano star Tord Gustavsen's long-honed recipe of low-key folk songs,
gospel, classical music and jazz gets a graceful makeover on Opening - with new
bassist Steinar Raknes, a player of uncannily responsive precision alongside
regular percussionist Jarle Vespestad, while subtle electronics sometimes create
ghostly horn-player effects." - The Guardian
"For Gustavsen, pieces such as Floytelat and Vaer Sterk, Min Sjel are routes into
the sort of cerebral mysteries that the former church pianist has made his own.
The first is a funereal theme where the notes he sprinkles like raindrops build into
a fatalistic flood. The second, from the Norwegian Hymnal, is played with an
innocent simplicity. Both are equally powerful...Remarkable music, Norwegian
blues." - The Times
"Quietly beguiling release...With lesser artists the uniformity of mood and
reluctance to turn up the volume would pall. But there's an artistry to Gustavsen's
compositions, a skill in their execution, and a warmth to their spirit that keeps the
listener engaged." - LondonJazz News
'While We Wait for a Brand New Day' is the third part of the Oddgeir Berg
Trio's trilogy around the dark hours of the day
The album was recorded under immense pressure. With only three days left
before Norway went into a lockdown, the trio headed to the studio and finished
the album in an intense session. Remarkably, the tone of these nine new originals
is hopeful and upbeat. If previous Oddgeir Berg Trio albums made you think of
ECM, the new one carves out a more personal sound.
Berg remembers the process as one of careful touches: "To me, it feels like an
evolving landscape. I have quite a few synths and effect pedals in my locker, but I
try not to overdo things." In conceptual terms, this is where the circle closes - now,
you can put on 'Before Dawn' and simply continue listening.
John Scofield's first guitar-solo-recording ever gives a résumé of all the
influences and idioms he has cultivated over his career in performances
on guitar, accompanied by his own rhythmic pulse and chordal backing
using a loop machine
Besides jazz, John is known to have always also had a soft spot for the rock and
roll and country music he grew up with, revealed here in unencumbered renditions
of Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away" and Hank Williams' "You Win Again". Between
elegant and personal readings of standards, like "It Could Happen To You", the
traditional "Danny Boy" and Keith Jarret's "Coral", Scofield presents his own
timeless compositions - some new, others known.
For the guitarist, it's all about "the way you get the sound out of the string and
what you do with it after you attack it."
John Scofield: electric guitar and looper
Press:
"Scofield is as fiery as ever, plugged in and using loops to give himself a
background groove on some of his gritty originals or putting a punkish spin on
romantic ballads." - **** The Times
"This isn't an album to listen to in a hurry; but if you were pressed for time, the last
two tracks alone would give you a sense of Scofield's extraordinary range. The
bebop- heavy Trance De Jour is antic, angular, questing. But then we close with
You Win Again, a Hank Williams cover, serene as a sunset over the prairie." - ****
The Daily Telegraph
"Here he has distilled his decades in this crazy business into a baker's dozen of
songs that may appear modest in ambition - only one track runs to more than five
minutes, several run to barely three - yet is mighty in impact...This album needed
no other title. This is John Scofield." - **** Jazzwise
"(8/10) The result offers an intimate insight to Sco's skills as both guitarist and
arranger. It's a late-night album - quiet, introspective and really quite beautiful, too,
with Sco's musical soul laid bare before us." - Guitarist
This show, captured on November 28, 2001, came on the heels of his hit
single, Like Humans Do and the release of the album Look Into The
Eyeball, which was another typically eclectic musical stew reflecting a
variety of styles and influences, from Philly soul to a DC Go-Go inspired
groove and his first-ever Spanish composition, Desconocido Soy
Critics at the time called it his best work in years, and his performance on the
Austin City Limits stage shows why. Joined by Austin's own eclectic tango
ensemble Tosca, Byrne takes us down many different musical roads in his ACL
debut.
Of course, besides the brilliant songwriter and performer that he is, he's also an
accomplished performance artist, photographer, web journalist, film writer /
director, composer of motion picture soundtracks, and founder of his own world
music label, Luaka Bop Records.
He also has a collection of Grammys, Oscars and Golden Globes on his mantel.
His music may be complex and poetic, but he makes no bones about his ultimate
intent: I want to move people to dance and cry at the same time."

Mandalai Lamas sound as massive and hard as the great mountains of
their native Norway - With loud guitars and catchy riffs, the band brings
something fresh and edgy in their homage to the music of the sixties and
seventies, making them feel like a long awaited revitalization of old
school rock and roll
A live band in its truest sense, Mandalai Lamas will turn you on with songs that
are soaked in sweat and beer and performed with raw power.
Krill's debut album Alam No Hris is celebrating its tenth birthday in 2022
With assistance from actual label Sipsman, the band's fake label Sren Records
has remastered Alam No Hris for the occasion and pressed it to vinyl for the very
first time, available November 18 worldwide. Simply put, Alam No Hris is a baker's
dozen of nervy, charming, lofi missives disguised as garage pop songs. Whenever
I think about Alam No Hris the repetitive, incoherent joy on display in many of the
songs I think of it as ecstatic', bassist/ vocalist Jonah Furman says. The whole
thing is like someone stammering to express themselves in a moment of
overwhelming emotion. Ecstatic in the full sense, of standing outside of yourself.
Noah & The Whale were one of the leading protagonists of the small but
perfectly formed indie-folk scene of the early days of the 21st Century
Formed in Twickenham, the five-piece, led by vocalist and guitarist Charlie Fink,
originally boasted Laura Marling in their line- up, before she left to begin her
successful solo career.
Released in August 2008, Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down was like a breath of
fresh air with its optimistic-yet-realistic worldview and, as The Guardian was to
note, its "twinkling acoustic songs, bursting with brass, keyboards and fiddle"
were "economic and brimming with sure-footed confidence." Its 11 songs include
the group's debut single and signature track, 5 Years Time, which was to become
their first UK Top 10 hit.
This re-issue is pressed onto high quality 180g vinyl.
Africa Corps Live at The Whisky A Go Go 30th
December 1981
Ever wondered about what seeing a blossoming Savage Republic,
formally known as Africa Corps, up close must have felt like? 'Africa
Corps Live at The Whisky A Go Go 30th December 1981', is here to take
us right there, fiercely catapulting listeners in front of one of Los Angeles'
most iconic stages, back when a young band of UCLA students (Bruce
Licher, Mark Erskine, Philip Drucker and Jeff Long), was starting to make
its way in the punk underground
Their extraordinary first time at the Whisky was recorded on cassette, direct from
the sound board, on December 30th, 1981. We're lucky enough to witness most of
the future 'Tragic Figures' tracks in a process of highly creative gesta- tion, in the
middle of being developed. The original tape has now been remastered by Warren
DeFever (His Name Is Alive) and unearths a most cathartic performance. It's hard
to fathom, but the four musicians had only been playing together for about eight
months at that point, mostly rehearsing in the concrete parking garages at UCLA.
Those formative experiences are brilliantly re- flected in the sound of 'Africa
Corps Live at The Whisky A Go Go 30th December 1981', with its hypnotic blend
of industrial and piercing post punk.

unforgettable journey that skillfully navigates between Spiritual Jazz and LatinAmerican popular music like Tango or Bolero, all embellished by subtle touches
of electronica. Unlike anything else, it is a glimpse into the future of the everevolving and bubbling South American music scene. Pressed on 180-gram White
color vinyl.
With Maternity Beat, Hedvig Mollestad has surpassed herself, most significantly as a composer and arranger, and delivered her magnum opus so far. And with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra she found the perfect ensemble to perform it. They have a long tradition for collaborations like this, we can mention Chick Corea, Jason Moran and Marius Neset among many others. And as always, Hedvig truly shines as a guitarist. Maternity Beat is Hedvig’s third “solo” album. It was commissioned by Molde International Jazz Festival and premiered in July 2020, later the same year streamed at London Jazz Festival. The recording took place in Athletic Sound in Halden in October 2021. Since she received the festival’s talent price in 2009 and signed to Rune Grammofon the following year, we have had the great pleasure to release seven albums by her trio as well as two solo albums, all receiving wide international acclaim in both jazz and rock camps. To complete the circle, Hedvig has been chosen as next year’s Artist in Residence at the festival, a most prestigious institution in Norwegian jazz, held by John Zorn this year and initiated by Chick Corea in 2000 and Pat Metheny in 2001. Tracklist, all formats 1. On The Horizon, Part 1 2. On The Horizon, Part 2 3. Do Re Mi Ma Ma 4. Donna Ovis Peppa 5. Little Lucid Demons/Alfons 6. All Flights Cancelled 7. Her Own Shape 8. Maternity Beat 9. Maternity Suite

Outsider, alt, psych, power trio Jemma Freeman and The Cosmic Something are the aural equivalent of a distorted photograph capturing the hinterland found between emotions and actions. Emerging like joyous sci-fi warriors, the songs either overtly or indirectly demonstrate solidarity with anyone that’s ever identified feeling off kilter with the rest of the universe and needed an equally wonky soundtrack to back it. An introspective journey through psychedelic glam-rock nightmares, woozy flows of self discovery and beguiling lyrics delivered with subtlety and intensity. Jem, Samuel Nicholson (bass) and Jason Ribeiro (drums) are your astral guides in this strange country, illuminating a path, in reality they’re as lost as the listener. In this limbo, thoughts tumble on top of each other through twisted rhythmic guitar, bass and drum lines that interchange and play with each other in a frenzied cosmic dance. // “An onslaught of guitar...” – Popoptica // "lush guitar work and rapid fire energy.. part Kate Jackson part PJ Harvey.” - For The Rabbits // Tracklisting: 1. Big Bread 2. Easy Peeler 3. Nobody Ever 4. Huge 5. Lump 6. Maersky 7. Bugles 8. I Thought Too Much 9. Sicilian Mousse 10. Take Me
It’s been a great year for Andy Blade & Eater. Ant was released worldwide through Cleopatra, some high-profile gigs with Dinosaur Jr, Jah Wobble and U.S up and comers The Darts and more to come now big boys AEG have taken the band onboard to secure gigs. As usual singer Andy Blade is doing it in his own inimitable way; not for him a backing band of septuagenarians. Instead, he’s got in some young pistols called Jo Jo & The Teeth (a band in their own right) which give the songs an intensity and relevancy beyond your traditional punk audiences meaning the sky’s the limit for the band. The new Eater single on Antenna is original Eater’s version of Alice Cooper’s classic ‘Eighteen’ but renamed after their average ages at the time 'Fifteen'. It’s backed by the controversial 'Why Don’t You…?' (censored version). Both tracks are not on 'Ant' and like 'Ant' features the found Dave Goodman remixes/missing guitar parts. The single is in translucent clear vinyl and colour picture bag with 2 sided lyric insert. The Deluxe version includes a signed A3 folded poster & CDR with rare live Eater Tracks, Andy Blade solo stuff and hilarious audio book excerpts from his acclaimed 'Secret Life Of A Teenage Punk Rocker'. Again done in his own way! Andy Blade "Fifteen is an outtake from the Ant sessions (too many covers). We made Alice’s song our own. The guitars lift it from crucification to glorification. Punchy as fuck. The flip side, Why Don't You? Is a song people will know with a word we can't say anymore."

MP3 album download included. Best New Music… 9.2 // ‘Dear Science’ cuts through genres like a laser through a music encyclopaedia, making strange connections, but always with pop clarity as the ultimate aim. — NME // Dear Science reprograms old‐school rock thrills for an ear‐budded nation, using surprising juxtapositions to explode familiar sounds. — Rolling Stone // (Dear Science) boldly took guitars where no album had gone before. And it did so with more creativity, daring and flair than any record since Radiohead's OK Computer. — The Guardian // The band’s third studio album released in 2008, Dear Science, opened with vintage TVOTR, but the nostalgia does not last. With Dear Science, the band continue to push the limit with sonic experiments that fill out the rest of the album. While on the island of Syros in the Aegean Sea for a film festival performance, Christina Vantzou experienced what she characterized as “a moment of focus”—a specific vision for the sprawl of raw recordings she’d been amassing for her fifth album. Upon relocating to the Cycladic island of Ano Koufonisi, she situated herself outside at a patio table with a laptop and headphones, taking brief breaks to swim, and began the “reductive process” of shaving and shaping the source material into uneasy but lyrical movements, alternately austere and adorned with strange inflections: glottal groaning, cavernous water, glittering eddies of modular synth, languorous silences. Mixing the pieces herself without outsourcing to an engineer compounded the intimacy and autobiographical dimension of the music; she refers to No5 as “almost like a first album.”
Drawing on sessions staged in February 2020, Vantzou’s editing instincts emphasize process and isolation, spotlighting resonance and restraint, liquidity and long tails. Fleeting configurations of piano, wind, strings, synthetics, and field recordings, these are spaces as much as compositions, surreal grottos of shifting light, suffused with a sense of invisible divinity. Although seventeen musicians appear on the record, the proceedings feel minimalist and malleable, sculpted from interstitial moments and oblique synchronicities. The definition of a composer as “one who joins things” is here both plumbed and proven; Vantzou describes No5 as “a letting go,” a place of “soft borders,” unfixed and undefinable.

** INITIAL 400 LPs CONTAIN A BONUS 7" OF A RARE XMAS SOUL 45! **
** THE 4th VOLUME OF RARE & HIP-SHAKING SEASONAL GROOVES!! **
Dear Santa, we just loved "Santa's Funk & Soul Christmas Party," Volumes 1-3 TRLP-9013, TRLP-9027, TRLP-9050, and we have really tried to be good this year! Please bring us a whole 'nother album's worth of rare and obscure Christmas-themed funk and soul!
When the third volume of "Santa's Funk & Soul Christmas Party" was released in 2015, everybody involved was certain that it would be the final one. For years, the curators had been looking for "Christmas Rare Grooves" until they finally realized there was nothing left to discover that would justify a fourth volume. Sure, it would have been an easy task to dig through the catalogues of major labels to come up with 40 minutes of more-or-less trivial Christmas soul music. But who on earth would want that kind of album? Since the foundation of Tramp Records in 2003, the label has gained a high reputation as one of the very few German reissue labels of obscure funk, soul, and jazz music. 99% of the songs originate from 7" singles, the small and handy standard-format of the 1960s, which, like Santa's sleigh magically circling the planet on Christmas Eve, spins at forty-five revolutions per minute on the turntable.
So, what can you expect from this, the fourth volume of a series which had ostensibly been completed with only three volumes? After some seven years of digging across the world wide web with open ears and eyes, never tiring of the hundreds of (mainly) shitty songs, hoping to find that kind of monster soul or funk track that constituted the hallmark of the previous volumes, the compilers slowly and surprisingly began to see a fourth volume taking shape. Finally, after more than two thousand days, a complete album's worth of quality tunes had been discovered and secured for release.
"Santa's Funk & Soul Christmas Party Vol. 4" contains a highly diverse selection of obscure Christmas songs. For example, take Bey Ireland's garage-mod-rocker "All I Want For Christmas Is A Go-Go Girl," is something to get you go-going around the tree! Do you prefer mirror-balls to tinsel? Check out Bill Deal with Pure Pleasure. Too fast? How about the dazzling-melancholic "I Won't Be Home For Christmas"? Do you prefer rap music while you wrap presents? Then your choice is going to be Hot & Sassy. Old-School-Hip Hop at its best. Every single song has a compelling reason to be included in this extraordinary selection. Not least is the opening track by Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings. Their contribution represents the soul sound of the 21st century. Charming soul music with sociocritical lyrics, something you rarely find in the current musical landscape.
Even though the selected tracks that the two compilers and their worker elves proudly present on "Santa's Funk & Soul Christmas Party Vol. 4" are unbelievable, they are very real and will be the surprise gift from Santa this season that can be enjoyed year-round! It took seven years to complete, but believe us when we say it was well worth the wait. Merry Christmas, everybody!
Key selling points:
- initial 400 LPs contain a BONUS 7" of a ULTRA-RARE Christmas soul 45
- ALL but one song appear on CD, Vinyl LP and digital for the very first-time
- the vinyl LP comes with a full album download code
- fold-out CD-booklet and gatefold LP come with liner notes and label scans

'Night Of The Endless Beyond', the sophomore album by Lord Of The Isles AKA Neil McDonald for the ESP Institute, had almost become a mythical piece of work. The tracks very slowly crept into formation from the lowest depths of 2021, and once the completed album finally made the leap from creation into manufacturing, an entirely new onslaught of follies and delays awaited at the pressing plant. We began to laugh, for not only did Mario Hugo’s otherworldly sleeve artwork visually translate this music so well, but it was an uncanny premonition to the album being lost in space, falling through a black hole, evaporating into the aether like a dream that never really happened. But, at long last, ground control has confirmed contact! It did happen, it will arrive, and it’s not a myth.
Listening to 'Night Of The Endless Beyond' now feels like the return of a strayed friend, one whose distance left us pining for an embrace. Although this Techno relies on unassuming means, there is a remarkably complex and persuasive emotional statement embedded here, insisting we learn to endure the long game and allow ourselves patience to investigate and appreciate the minutiae contained not only within the notes, but their negative space. From its introduction, through its mellow crests and valleys, there is a conveyance of restraint — subtle dynamics that quietly beg for attention, repetition so hypnotic that imaginary melodies are inescapable, transient peaks so deliberately scaled that we mourn the subsequent decay. In accordance with Neil’s ESP debut, 'In Waves', we never feel attacked by instrumentation but shielded from sharp edges, able to step inside the music, breathe the air it occupies and know its true intentions, whether bright or bleak.
Just prior to the album close, a film dialogue excerpt summarizes everything quite honestly by proposing, “The truth of the universe is waiting … the truth of what is … it’s all going to go away … everything … into blackness … the void … and nobody is in charge.”
“…and what do you do with that?”
We stare long into the 'Night Of The Endless Beyond' and answer… “You smile.”
