Finally getting a vinyl re-release is Frank & Tony’s seminal work with breakout duo Bob Moses. Back in 2012 Francis Harris and Anthony Collins (Frank & Tony) worked with their fellow New Yorkers before they went on to sign to Domino and blow up globally.
The four track EP kicks off with Elea - a deep and thoughtful collaboration utilizing Frank & Tony’s slick production with understated vocals. Next up on the A side is Holding On, featuring iconically Bob Moses vocals atop of a low-key bumping groove. There’s also washes of brass that add a new dimension to the track. Flipping over to the B side, Holy for Her (which also appeared back in 2012), is a densely wound, hypnotic rhythm, providing the basis for Tom Howie and Jim Vallance to do their special thing. Winding things up, Marigold is another early classic from the same period - a dubbed-out groove with sharp percussion and a killer, signature vocal. An essential release capturing a vital period in both outfits' development.

Aufgenommen in Anjos' Heimstudio in Portland und bei Sessions in L.A., finden sich auf RAC's neuem Album Kollaborationen mit u.a. Rivers Cuomo von Weezer, Vampire Weekends Rostam, MNDR, ST. Lucia, KNA und Joywave. - EGO ist Anjos ambitioniertestes, geschlossenstes und persönlichstes Werk und zeigt deutlich seine organische Weiterentwicklung als Künstler auf. Geboren und aufgewachsen in Portugal, lernte Anjos in seiner Jugend Klavier und Gitarre und spielte in lokalen Bands. Später zog er in die USA, um Musikbusiness am Greenville College in Illinois zu studieren, bevor er sich in Portland, Oregon, niederließ. Anjos gründete RAC im Schlafzimmer seines Studentenwohnheims und gewann fortan ein stetig wachsendes Publikum für sich, wodurch offizielle Remix-Aufträge für u.a. Lana del Rey, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ellie Goulding, Foster The People, Phoenix, Imagine Dragons, Two Door Cinema Club und The Shins enstanden. Mit seinem ersten Song, - Hollywood , begann RAC 2012 eigenes Material zu veröffentlichen und unterstrich mit seinem Debütalbum - Strangers von 2014 seinen Qualitäten als Songwriter. Darauf enthalten waren die Singles - Let Go mit Kele von Bloc Party und MNDR sowie - Cheap Sunglasses mit Matthew Koma. Independent folk subsidiary Wild Sound.Affectionately shortened to
'Pivot', the album marks a return to her singular brand of insightful songs
that, in their subject matter, roam around the badlands of love, sex and
parenthood, death and grief, failure and success, violence and healing
Most poignantly the album focuses on the roles of women, in our lives and
across history, from a variety of perspectives.'Pivot' swings from the warm, bluesinspired Americana of 'Back Of Your Hand' and 'Dirty Circus', to the more
traditional folk of 'Brambles and Briars' and 'Robin', as well as poetic, pop
curiosities such as 'Snakeskin' and the effervescent 'Luminary', all of which
combine to make up Polly's most sonically adventurous album to date. As always,
she delights in the telling of stories, with littered spoken word aiding her as she
utilizes infectious melodies and a light delivery to explore her characters.
The product of a decade of writing, she tells us that "the album's title 'The Pivot
On Which The World Turns' is a corruption of a moment in the Russian novel Anna
Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, in which Stepan Arkadyitch knowingly confesses,
"women, my boy, they're the pivot everything turns upon". In context, Stepan and
Levin are discussing romantic relationships, but I saw wider interpretations of this
epithet".
Each track on the LP examines a different aspect of life that women play, and
"charts a development for me through all the roles I pivot on in a day, a week, a
year, a decade". 'Snakeskin' represents the daughter, 'Back Of Your Hand' is the
love interest, 'Dirty Circus' the mother and so on. "I truly believe, having travelled
the last few years, having endured grief and horror and having discovered and
pivoted on all these people that I am capable of being, that by learning how to
love, and re- learning, and learning again, so many of the wartier and knobblier
parts of me can be forgiven, and translated into something better".

Luca LTJ Trevisi (LTJ Xperience) began his dj/producer career in the 80s. As resident dj in two of the most famous Italian clubs of the time, Kinky in Bologna and Cap Creus in Imola, he was one of the first Italian jocks to spin House and to re-propose those black music, jazz and latin-bossa classics from the 70s that at the end of the same decade would have given birth to the Acid Jazz and Rare Groove movements. His first single release in 1988, titled First Job, together with Kekkotronics, was also the first release ever on Bologna based Irma Records. It was featured in a lot of compilations of the time and entered several playlists, rapidly reaching cult status for many UK and US djs. During the early 90s LTJ delivered a couple of singles in a kind of pre-breakbeat style: Dont Stop The Sax, released all over Europe, and Funky Superfly. He also produced US singer Tameka Starrs single Going In Circles, always for Irma Records, still a classic in the downtempo/r&b field. In the second half of the nineties Luca began to produce acid jazz bands like Bossa Nostra, still today one of Irma Records main acts. Their first album had Vicky Anderson as special
guest and today is still considered one of the most important European acid jazz albums. In the following years he concentrated on developing his activity as collector and rare vinyl merchant, which gave him the chance to get in touch with djs from all over the World and to discover many forgotten gems from the past years. Thanks to this experience he was able to create two extremely successful rarities series on Irma Records:

Groovy and Suono Libero. In the meanwhile LTJ started to dj outside Italy too, performing in important venues like the Blue Note and Jazz Café in London, Giant Step in New York and Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. In 1999 saw the release of his first solo album under the LTJ Xperience moniker. The album was produced with the collaboration of fellow Irma artist and producer Ohm Guru and had Taka Boom and Jackson Sloan among the guests. Two of the main tracks on the album are brazil house classic Sombre Guitar and title track Moon Beat, which became a true hit of the Chill Out genre, featured in dozens of important compilations.

After making countless productions for Irma Records, including their second album When The Rain Begins To Fall (with the participation of the historic Spanish-American singer Joe Bataan), and the recents singles as ORGAN MIND / I LOVE YOU (favorite track by Larry Heard ) & ON THE FLOOR / SOUND MACHINE, LTJ is devoted almost exclusively to re-edit and reconstruct tracks from the past with the addition of sounds and rhythms in post production for labels like SUPER VALUE, SMALL WORLD DISCO, HOT GROOVY RECORDS, OH CRISTO! increasing the production of this new musical genre that is currently defined as beatdown/slo-mo, working with international labels such as Far Out Recordings, Sleazy Beats, Future Classics, E.A.R. Music For Dreams, Apersonal Music, Roam Recordings, !K7.

It comes as no surprise to discover we are massive fans of Marcos Valle here at Mr Bongo, but this forgotten and obscure gem from the Brazilian maestro has proven to remain elusive to us until very recently.

'Girassol' is a lost Brazilian-boogie stunner from 1983. It was originally released as an ultra-rare promo only 7”. Composed by Marcos Valle, Paulo Sérgio Valle and Ribeiro José Francisco, this all-too-short nugget (under 2 minutes) was recorded and pressed on the Valle, Ribeiro & Associados Ltda. imprint for Rede CB De Supermercados. It was a promotional item to be distributed to customers of a supermarket chain as a gift. Due to not having any conventional distribution channels this resulted in the 7" becoming a slippery customer to find.

It’s a smooth AOR / Brazilian boogie joint with an uplifting chorus. The vibe is reminiscent of the much loved ‘Estrelar' era of Marcos Valle’s glorious recording career, and certainly one for fans of the Lincoln Olivetti, Robson Jorge production sound.

Next up is a Steven Kimber song, by way of a gorgeous Drop Out Orchestra remix. Drop Out Orchestra are the reigning edit kings of the soulful disco scene. Taking on the Birmingham-based vocalist and producer Steven Kimber's I Wanna Be The One,they managed to turn it into a brilliant yacht-house infused bouncer. Beach-proof from the get go, we wouldn't be surprised to hear this one tear up some island clubs this summer.

Third in line for Boogie Beats Volume 3 is South-African producer King Mutapa with the ever so shiny Gimme That Funk. Heavily influenced by 70s Disco, Funk and Boom Bap, King Mutapa expertly sprinkles funk chops over the shiniest groove we've heard in ages. Moving through several parts of the song, it's clear to hear that Mutapa's the King of bounce and will steadily continue this trajectory into his fresh career.

Pontchartrain - Cheap Plants

Detroit-based producer Pontchartrain (of Kolours LTD., Delusions of Grandeur, Whiskey Disco, Toy-Tonics and Razor-n-Tape fame a.o.) rain steps up to the plate with Cheap Plants; a bouncy and classy house number which could only have come out of the Motor City. Exuberating percussion parts sway ear-to-ear, whilst the mesmerizing piano stabs stay ever present, providing a steady backbone for the menagerie of lively synth swirls.

FUTVRST - The Feeling

New, mysterious Californian indie-vibed and post-disco duo FUTVRST light up the night with The Feeling. Swirling disco chops under laid with an infectious bassline, all dancing around an irresistible arpeggio sequence. FUTVRST takes us back to the blog house days with this one, and we can't wait to hear what's next for them.

Aber lange bevor das die Norm wurde, und bevor Musiker regelmäßig in mehr als einer Band involviert waren, gab es Liquid Tension Experiment. 1997 vereinten Mike Portnoy (Transatlantic, Sons of Apollo), John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) und Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel) ihre Kräfte und erschufen Liquid Tension Experiment. LAU (AKA Laura Fares), a prominent figure in the Synthwave and Retrowave scenes has finally gone solo after over a decade of writing Synthwave hits for other artists.



What is it like to fall in love in these crazy pandemic times? What about falling for someone miles away that we’ve never met? Is it real love or just a fantasy?



In this new album, LAU talks about the challenges, the uncertainty, the crazy circumstance she has found herself in, the ups and downs of “virtual romancing” in the distance, and falling in love with a complete stranger that she’s never met (yet). LAU explores the bittersweet feelings of happiness (to finally fall in love again), mixed with the anxiety and the uncertainty of longing for someone that we’ve only seen on a screen, added to the frustration of not being able to travel to meet them in person.

‘Learning To Dissolve’ is the punctuation on a journey that began with 2017’s ‘Sounds of Loss’. From the inception, ORTHODOX were nothing short of a standout, blending together riffs that wouldn’t be out of place on a Slipknot record coupled with Easterling’s blunt, Jonathan Davis-esque howls. But, like their sonic brethren in Knocked Loose or Vein.FM, while the influence of the 90’s/00’s is there, ORTHODOX doesn’t merely pay homage to their influences, it exceeds them. ‘From the beginning, we went in our own direction regardless of what anybody thought,’ states Adam. ‘We didn’t grow up listening to hardcore. To the Canadian music industry, 'Parkside' Mike Renaud is best known as the founder and owner of Hidden Pony

Records & Management, now widely recognized as one of Canada's premiere talent-development labels and artist

management companies. Past and present artists on Renaud's roster include Said The Whale, The Elwins, The Dirty

Nil, Hannah Georgas, Imaginary Cities, Jeremy Fisher, Odds, and many more.

Not many are aware that this popular industry power player actually got his start in music as a drummer in a '90s

Montreal soul/funk band called Parkside Jones (the source of his nickname). When he moved over to the business

side of music, beginning with top indie label Aquarius Records, Mike Renaud packed the kit away, launching himself

into the biz with full passion, commitment, and skill.

Mike has now resurrected his kit (after 20 years), honed his chops, and emerged as the driving force behind The

Renaud recalls the spark that reignited his love of playing drums: "The first time I played them in 20 years was at the

memorial for industry comrade Jon Box at The Opera House in Toronto. I was talked into playing with Chris Murphy

Sloan, Terra Lightfoot, and the Dirty Nil guys on a version of 'Handle With Care.'"

This renewed love affair would lead to Mike's vision for The H.P.'s. From his teenage years, his favourite musical

genre has been classic soul and funk, and he has an encyclopedic knowledge of these styles. Heartened to see the

growing international community building around these sounds, Mike decided to make his own creative contribution to

the form. He recruited musical and vocal collaborators from his hometown (plus a couple of Toronto imports) for the

project, and The H.P.'s were born.

The group name, The H.P.'s, pays homage to James Brown's legendary band, The J.B.'s, with these initials

referencing Hidden Pony. The album title is a tribute to Renaud's hometown, Hamilton, and The H.P.'s sound

honours The Hammer's core characteristics of grit and authenticity. Mike actually spent some time co-managing the

current J.B.'s.

The late Sharon Jones, a key inspiration for Renaud, is honoured via a killer version of her classic tune, "Better

Things." The soulful vocals of Claire Davis are accompanied by jaunty horns and keyboards, and the cool groove

befits the positive lyrics ("I'm a better woman than I have been").

Giving this cover extra resonance are the memorable encounters both Davis and Renaud had with Jones back in

2015. A documentary portrait of the soul great, Miss Sharon Jones!, had its world premiere at the Toronto

International Film Festival (TIFF), and Claire Davis was doing a house concert playing DapKings songs that night.

The band came across the party and jammed along, then, when one of the Dap Kings backup singers couldn't cross

the border, Claire got the call to fill in at Sharon Jones' headlining show at Hamilton's Supercrawl fest.

In a cool twist of fate, Mike Renaud was one of the organizers of that show, and was tasked with looking after

Sharon. The two bonded instantly and deeply, as Mike recalls. "While driving her to soundcheck, Sharon confided in

me that her cancer had returned. She didn't want anyone to know, as the documentary was about her conquering it,

and she didn't want people to be bummed out at the news. It was my 40th birthday that day, and Sharon actually

stopped her show to sing me Happy Birthday in a soulful way!"

The Sheffield quintet have made a career out of confounding expectations, be it through their dizzying blend of crushing metal, guttural hardcore and arena-worthy hooks, or the way they’ve carried themselves over an explosive, 15-year career'‘SLEEPS SOCIETY (Special Edition)’ sees the band expand the Sleeps Society album with 3 new tracks as well as one acoustic reworking of ‘YOU ARE ALL YOU NEED’ and ‘SYSTEMATIC’ getting guest vocals from Rou Reynolds of Enter Shikari. The original album recorded with producer Carl Bown, ‘SLEEPS SOCIETY’ promises to be another defiant step forwards, The album also sees some unexpected guests including Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro and Deryck Whibley from Sum 41!

Das Album The Silver Lining von Soul Asylum aus dem Jahr 2006 wird zum ersten Mal auf Vinyl wieder veröffentlicht! Es war das letzte Album mit dem Bassisten Karl Mueller, der tragischerweise vor der Fertigstellung des Albums an Krebs verstarb. Es ist auch das erste, auf dem Michael Bland am Schlagzeug zu hören ist. Die Doppel-LP wurde von John Fields produziert und von Justin Perkins bei Mystery Room Mastering für Vinyl gemastert. Sie enthält bedruckte Hüllen und eine Klappverpackung sowie den Hidden Track "Fearless Leader". Das Album wurde weithin als eine Rückkehr zur Topform für die langjährige Rockband aus Minneapolis angesehen, die in den 90er Jahren mit Grave Dancer's Union und Let Your Dim Light Shine kommerziellen Erfolg hatte, nachdem sie in den 80er Jahren im Untergrund Anerkennung gefunden hatte.

Dub War trennten sich 1999 und 3/4 der Band entfachten im Crossover-Metal mit ihrer neugegründeten Band namens Skindred ein neues Feuer. 2014 kam es dann zu einem Live-Comeback von DUB WAR durch vereinzelte Konzerte, aber erst 2016 wurden offiziell neue Songs veröffentlicht, um dann endlich im Sommer 2022 mit dem neuen Album für die grosse Comeback-Sensation über Earache Records zu sorgen!

Whenever songs happen for me, they are like photographs of time.Last year was
tough. That's an understatement for certain. I have always felt lonely, but the irony
of that is, I was not alone at all in that space. Everyone had lost something. As a
means of keeping sane, I started to write songs. The inspiration was occurring
from simple moments. I missed my friends. I missed my family. I felt unified in
knowing that I was not on my own in that mentalityI realized that my heart was
full of everything I loved and that would carry me forward for the time being.
Eventually we would all get back to one another. Now that we are beginning to, I

With the project XV | 1 Affin leaves 15 years of its existence behind and looks expectantly and full of optimism into the future.

The A side starts with MTRL's (co-founder of the Munich IO label), "Spice Fields" who celebrates his Affin debut here with a delicate, driving track. Another premiere is the first collaboration between Cauê and Joachim Spieth, who celebrate here with "Alpha", an atmospheric multi-modulated piece of club music.

The B side starts with an old acquaintance, Reggy Van Oers, who makes a massive reappearance with "niffA" after a few years of abstinence. Svarog closes the first episode of our 15th anniversary with the pushing "Psalm". All tracks were mastered at the Berlin-based Artefacts Mastering Studio. Markus Guentner, a label artist from the early days, is responsible for the graphic design and also did a logo redesign.

The wait is over: Arch Enemy are back with the follow up to 2017’s ‘Will To Power’, and they have never sounded hungrier. Delivering a collection of the tightest, most streamlined, and, more importantly extreme metal, ‘Deceivers’ is comprised of 11 tracks that will have their fan base salivating. Every track is ruthlessly catchy and mercilessly violent, and with the likes of ‘Deceiver, Deceiver’, ‘House Of Mirrors’, ‘Handshake With Hell’ or ‘Poisoned Arrow’ the Swedish quintet have never sounded better. Released on July 29th, 2022, it is available in 4 formats, all of which offer something special for the fans. First, there is the hand-numbered Ltd. A new EP by UK DJ / producer, Controlled Weirdness lands on Cultivated Electronics Ltd (CE's vinyl only sister label) in July. Heads will know Controlled Weirdness (real name Neil Keating) from his monthly radio show on Threads, his Presence Unknown label and Electric Sweat events. But he's actually been rocking the decks since the mid-'80s when as a youngster, Electro and early '80s pirate radio started his obsession with electronic music and he played his first gig at "The House of Dolls" in Farringdon where he soon became resident. After a stint in New York from 1989 he met Joel Bevacqua aka DJ Deadly Buda, who after returning to his hometown of Pittsburgh invited Neil to play at the first ever rave there in 1991, leading to a 6-month stint of events. Neil eventually returned to London in 1992 and started a radio show on pirate station Chillin FM alongside his sister, Stacey (later known as NoYeahNo). Many more events followed until in 1996 he formed Unearthly Records. Since then, he has played worldwide from plush clubs to dirty warehouses and has appeared on a variety of labels including Audio Illusion, Control Tower, Praxis, Zhark, Dirty Needles, Fdb and Still Raven. On 'In The Shadows' he delivers 4 earthy and raw Electro cuts with exciting electronics, tough beats and wonky acid.

Dynamic Reflection proudly presents a new vinyl release on their Limited Series (vinyl only) from a Saint Petersburg-based producer Aleksei Nikitin, better known as Nocow. In true Nocow's fashion, the album encapsulates an array of intertwined genres that goes beyond techno and results in a refreshing take on techno music.

Ambient drones, tribal undertones, UK garage influences and 90's aesthetics are among some of the impressions we've gotten from the project. On "ILES" he shows such a diverse spectrum of electronic music sub-genres is something that comes naturally for the artist, who is known for his versatility in music production. In the words of Nocow himself, this allows him to express his ideas to a higher degree of freedom.

The music on "ILES" serves as a language of subconscious that simultaneously brings out thoughtful reverie and the feeling of saudade. It is an emotional experience that connects the sense of nature's mysticism with the notion of human self, which allows for the listener's inner dialogue in a moment of reflection.

Nocow's music solidified him as a prominent artist within the contemporary techno scene and his new album is yet another proof of it. We are fascinated by the project and feel certain you will be mesmerized by the sonic world of "ILES" as well. We hope you enjoy this as much as we do.

The four tracks that comprise Giving Water to the Dead were composed using sound materials originally recorded for the sound installation Histories of the Present, a public artwork commissioned by the City of Berkeley in 2019. But where the installation was about a melding of practices and sounds into a single gesture, Crouch and Novak wanted to take the opportunity of a split release to exploring divergent paths starting from common ground. For Giving Water to the Dead, each artist started with the same source material and plotted their own direction without direct influence from the other. As artists in a relationship and sharing a studio this was no easy feat. Despite the planned divergence the resulting tracks compliment each other, as the artists do.

Yann Novak and Robert Takahashi Crouch are a creative and romantic couple living and working in Los Angeles. Their collaborative practice incorporates field recordings, photography, and video as tools to investigate the relationship between site and subject. Their performances and installations have been presented at the AxS Festival, Pasadena; California Museum of Photography, Riverside; Desert Daze Festival, Southern California; Downtown Berkeley BART Plaza, Berkeley; Gays Hate Techno, Northern California; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; LACMA, Los Angeles; PØST, Los Angeles; Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, New York and others. Their compositions have been published by The Tapeworm, Murmur Records, Estuary Ltd., IO Sound, and Untitled & After.
