Swedish trio Death And Vanilla follow their much-praised re-imagined soundtracks to `Vampyr' (2017) and `The Tenant' (2018) with their interpretation of the soundtrack to cult 1968 TV show `Whistle And I'll Come To You'. Ltd White Vinyl LP, Soundtrack / Electronic / Indie At a time when post-ambient electronica and bedevilled folk music are co-habiting, and the public's interest in Pagan rites and rituals has been sparked by a new generation of fans. The bizarre storyline of Whistle And I'll Come To You seems even more pertinent_ and strangely haunting. The Jonathan Miller-adapted 1968 ghost story was originally part of BBC's Omnibus series and featured Michael Horden as a fussy professor who discovers an ancient whistle which summons up the spirits. A black and white folkloric tale in the style of The Wicker Man, the original TV programme received rave reviews. The esoteric live score was recorded at the Hypnos Theatre in Malmö. The 42-minute soundtrack utilises stuttering tape loops on `Intro' before breathing new life into the primitive John Carpenter-like drum machine on `Supernatural Breakfast', while `Walk On The Beach 2' sounds like a hauntological rendition of a Broadcast classic. Indeed, that effect is amplified on `Nightmares', with its swirling wind and other-worldly choral effect, before the feeling of some supernatural presence is suggested on the penultimate cut `Evidence Of Spiritualism'.

Tool : The last Analog Records USA was in 2000... Why did you stop it and why do you wish to realese vinyls again ?


Mr Fresh : Ii actually never stopped I just made alot of other styles of music that I do not think were proper for my Analog and E.M.F. labels (Analog is now run by Mike McLure of SAuto Kinetic we work together on that label and Electric Music Foundation is all my label.. we did some great digital releases on E.M.F. recently with ADSX / Scott Radke/Dave Olson / Poor Boy Rich etc.. and can be found here

for me my last Techno Analog vinyl 12” Release was in 1997 Quiver 12"


But I did release a few Techno/Electro style tracks on my Electric Music Foundation labels as 12” singles

I always continue to make music and have hundreds of unreleased songs that I think some are not worth putting on 12” single as I fear to weird, experimental etc.. I try to isolate myself and make unique music hopefully not sounding like what others are making but try to be my own self




Tool : What are you favourite machines or software to make music these days ?


Mr Fresh : I still use many vintage synths like my Jupiter 8, Arp 2600, Roland System 100M, 303’s etc.. but now I also use some Eurorack Modules E950, Clouds, Metropolis Sequencer etc.. also TR8, Twisted Electrons Acid 8, Teenage Engineering Factory, PO Calculators, Korg Volca Sampler, Electrix Filter Factory, Space Echo (Boss) and MPC 4000 controlling Hardware and I usually record random ideas to a flash recorder and sometimes import into ableton tracks etc.. then use Reaktor or some other soft synths but I always start Analog. I also use Critter and Guitari Looper to record organic sounds to use for percussion.




Tool : What are your forthcoming projects on vinyl in the near future ?


Mr Fresh : I have a remix electro style for New Zealand Independent Cardboard and Computers soon on 12” single

I have COMACID EP coming out of Belgium on 12” single very soon which features some older tracks (Binder, Scared, Slow Death, Spacefunk) mainly re-release of Techno/Acid stuff all analog of course

Then I have two releases with Toolbox Records and possible new stuff with Acid.Paris and hopefully we start a nice relationship with Toolbox for a long term ha ha! My daughters start school next month so I am preparing new Eurorack Modules and getting Syncussion to really hit it and spend some serious time in the studios. I am really inspired to do the more electronic vibes now and feeling the A.C.I.D. alot lately with the newer technology

ORBIT CULTURE läuten eine neue Ära ein. Neben ihrem DIY-Ethos und ihren kompromisslosen Dark-on-Dark-Visuals prägt laut Karlsson seine Vorliebe für Soundtracks und cineastische Soundscapes ihren Sound und Vision. Komponisten wie Hans Zimmer (Dune, Interstellar) und Howard Shore (Der Herr der Ringe) hätten einen großen Einfluss auf die Band. "Wahrscheinlich deutlich mehr als aktueller Metal", sagt Niklas. "Jeder von uns würde sich lieber den Soundtrack von 'Inception' anhören, weil er zeitlos ist. Wenn ich beim Schreiben nicht wei-terkomme, bieten mir z.B. Cello oder Klavier neue Möglichkeiten. Wir schreiben einfache Riffs und Strukturen, und wenn wir uns dabei von einem Künstler wie Hans Zimmer inspirieren lassen, kommt ein Song wie 'Inferna' heraus, weil wir den Chorus größer und cineastischer machen."
Produziert von der Band und gemixt von Buster Odeholm (Vildhjarta, Humanity's Last Breath, Thrown), ist "Death Above Life" ein Statement für den Metal, seine Gegenwart und Zukunft. Es ist ein entscheidender nächster Schritt für ORBIT CULTURE, da sie sich selbst und Metal als Ganzes frischer definieren. "Wir spielen Metal", sagt Karlsson. "Wir haben Einflüsse von Djent, von Me-talcore und melodischem Death Metal. Wir bleiben uns selbst treu, und ich denke, die Leute sind genau danach hungrig."

NILS FRAHM and F.S.BLUMM have confirmed the release of their fifth collaborative album, Handling. Containing three tracks but 40 minutes long, it finds the duo advancing from 2021’s dub-influenced 2X1=4, deploying its lessons in ambitious new territory that also nods to earlier collections. Recorded at his studio in Berlin’s Funkhaus, the album will be released by LEITER on vinyl and via all digital platforms on September 19, 2025.

Handling’s three exquisitely detailed pieces are each entitled ‘Leuchter,’ German for ‘candlestick,’ encapsulating the LP’s luminescent glow and rising inner energy. Its scrupulous arrangements exploit a magic cabinet of instruments, among them pianos, celestas and cristal baschets, glockenspiels, guitars and multiple forms of percussion. Their painstakingly engineered improvisations were equally meticulously reassembled in a series of intense editing sessions.

That the duo’s collaboration is built on a friendship and mutual admiration dating back to the early 2000s enables an unusual level of trust, despite both operating in their own distinct manner. “It’s not Frank, it’s not Nils,” they reflect. “We’ve become a new persona.” Handling blends Blumm’s organic chaos with Frahm’s structured intuition, offering a distinct and luminous experience that doesn’t just sound different, but feels like its own evolving world.

GOODWIN, das Soloprojekt des The Slow Show-Sängers Rob Goodwin, hat das Debütalbum 'PEEKABOO' angekündigt, das am 19. September 2025 über PIAS Recordings veröffentlicht wird. An Goodwins Seite ist dabei Lambert, der mysteriöse, maskierte Pianist und Komponist, der u.a. für seine Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlern wie Nils Frahm und Ólafur Arnalds bekannt ist.

'PEEKABOO' geht über die cineastische Wucht seiner Band hinaus und liefert etwas Intimeres und Ungeschliffeneres. Eine Sammlung zutiefst persönlicher Songs, die in stillen Momenten entstanden sind und in Berlin-Neukölln mit Lambert geformt wurden. Als Produzent bringt Lambert seine Handschrift - sowohl spielerisch als auch tiefgründig - in 'PEEKABOO' ein. Phantoms bahnbrechendes Debütalbum „Handed to Execution“ von 2023 erscheint nun mit der Klangqualität, die es schon immer verdient hat. Unter der Leitung von Patrick W. Engel wurde es sorgfältig neu abgemischt und remastered, sodass diese definitive Edition den Speed/Thrash Metal der Mexikaner endlich in seiner ganzen knochenbrechenden Pracht präsentiert.
Mastermind, Sänger und Gitarrist J.C. erklärt: „Damals wussten wir noch nichts über Recording, wir haben es während der Arbeit an der Platte gelernt. Es war auch etwas unglücklich, da sich unser anderer Gitarrist Harel den Arm gebrochen hatte und ich schließlich das gesamte Album ohne Hilfe aufnehmen musste, während wir den Schlagzeuger wechselten. Es war eine Herausforderung, aber wir haben es geschafft.“
Was als ambitioniertes DIY-Projekt begann, wurde schnell zu „einem sehr beliebten Album, das uns Fans auf der ganzen Welt beschert hat“. Phantom wurden 2021 in der Underground-Szene von Guadalajara gegründet und etablierte sich mit drei Demos und einer Vierer-Split-LP, bevor sie „Handed to Execution“ herausbrachten.
High Roller Records freuen sich nun, diese unverzichtbare Neuauflage zu veröffentlichen, die die minderwertigen früheren Pressungen vergessen macht, die J.C. als „ziemlich chaotisch“ beschreibt. "Lunga" ist das beeindruckende Solo-Debütalbum von Sydney Minsky-Sargeant, dem Kopf der Alt-Electro-Band Working Men's Club. Während der Katalog von Working Men's Club Industrial-Post-Punk für den Indie-Dancefloor neu interpretiert, ist "Lunga" eine introspektive Platte, auf der Minsky Sargeant über das Erwachsenwerden und die Zeit zwischen Kindheit und Erwachsensein reflektiert. Die Tracks von "Lunga" wurden über mehrere Jahre hinweg in den Pausen zwischen den WMC-Verpflichtungen geschrieben und dann mit Alex Greaves im "The Nave" in Leeds aufgenommen. Die Lieder sind nachdenklich und suchend, mit einfachen Refrains, die oft über spärlichen Gitarrenlinien wiederholt werden. Minsky Sargeant spielt den Großteil der Instrumente selbst und erschafft mit zarten Drum Fills, unheimlichem Cello und dezenten Synthies eine bezaubernde Welt. Minsky Sargeant dachte, er hätte ein neues Wort kreiert, als er die Platte betitelte - etwas, das die selbsthinterfragende Stimmung der Platte und die Erforschung der Beziehung des Menschen zur Natur zusammenfasst. Dass sich "Lunga" dann als der Name einer unbewohnten schottischen Insel herausstellte - zerklüftet, isoliert und in ständiger Bewegung - ist der Beweis für eine einzigartige künstlerische Vision.

Fünf Original-Studioalben, aufgenommen in einer Woche im August 1965 in New York City: Boppin', Smokin', Groovin', Comin' On, Cool Burnin' sind zum ersten Mal seit über 50 Jahren wieder auf Vinyl erhältlich. Für diese Aufnahmen, die einen Wendepunkt in seiner Karriere markieren, hat Chet Baker eine Band der Superlative um sich geschart: George Coleman, Kirk Lightsey, Herman Wright und Roy Brooks spielen alle auf diesen aufregenden Sets, die ursprünglich bei Prestige Recordings erschienen sind.

New Land hatte vollen Zugang zu den originalen analogen Monobändern, und Kevin Gray hat sie neu gemastert und geschnitten (AAA), um ihnen eine frische Klangfarbe zu verleihen. Das Herzstück dieser Box ist ein Buch mit einem unglaublich detaillierten Essay von GRAMMY® Nominee James Gavin, der die wahre Geschichte hinter diesen Aufnahmen mit Interviews der Beteiligten verbindet. Chet Bakers Prestige-Aufnahmen aus dem Jahr 1965 markieren eine Übergangsphase - seine Rückkehr in die USA nach einer Zeit in Europa und einer Auseinandersetzung mit dem Rechtssystem. Diese Sessions zeigen ihn in einem raueren, expressiveren Ton, der aber immer noch von seiner charakteristischen lyrischen Schönheit durchdrungen ist. Die Aufnahmen entstanden auf dem Höhepunkt der Hard-Bop-Renaissance von Prestige Records und zeigen Baker zusammen mit dem Saxophon-Titanen George Coleman, der gerade mit Miles Davis auf Tournee war. Das Ergebnis ist ein rauer, swingender Quintett-Sound, direkt, gefühlvoll und ungeschminkt.

Nach Jahren des Umherziehens in Europa und scheinbar endlosen persönlichen Turbulenzen kehrte Chet in die USA zurück, um diese Sessions aufzunehmen. Ohne die jugendliche Unschuld seiner frühen Tage an der Westküste spielt Baker mit einer dunkleren, introspektiven Note - sein Horn singt immer noch, aber jetzt seufzt es auch.

Zusammen mit einer starken Rhythmusgruppe aus New York verbinden diese Aufnahmen die Eleganz des Cool Jazz mit der rauen Direktheit des Hard Bop der Ostküste. Baker zeigt sich hier von seiner menschlichsten Seite - zerbrechlich, lyrisch, ungefiltert.

Dies sind nicht einfach nur Aufnahmen aus Chets Spätzeit - sie sind ein Dokument seiner Neuerfindung. Für Sammler schließen sie eine wichtige Lücke zwischen seiner ikonischen Cool Jazz Ära der 1950er Jahre und seinen düsteren europäischen Sessions der 1970er Jahre.

Für seine 2011 erschienene Aufnahme der Klavierkonzerte von Grieg und Liszt reiste Sir Stephen Hough
in Griegs Heimatstadt Bergen, um mit Andrew Litton und dem Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra zusammenzuarbeiten. Bei seiner ursprünglichen Veröffentlichung nannte die Sunday Times Houghs Album „eine

New York painter and musician exploratory industrialist Tor Lundvall initially envisioned his 14th album, Beautiful Illusions, as an entirely instrumental affair, "inspired by memories of sitting in a church or cathedral watching the shifting sunlight through stained glass." Although he ultimately chose to wreath the majority of the tracks with hushed, poetic vocals, his original muse still resonates. These are certainly songs of shadowplay and vaulted skies, the quiet grandeur of dusk deepening on the horizon. Lundvall characterizes the lyrical subject matter, too, in ways both specific and surreal, exploring "the doubts, the anxieties and even the bleak fantasies the mind spirals into during moments of isolation, separation and distance." Tricks of the eye, mind, and ear, magnified by silence and the looming long winter. Shivering pulses and muted bass lines tread the twilight while icicle synths and wiry guitar map the melody until the voice enters, narrating oblique moods of essence and absence, tenderness and truth. Glimpses of dark humor flicker in the wordplay but the greater sonic landscape is one of falling leaves and failing light, small gestures rendered as revelation, cloaked in reverb and spatial fog. Lundvall's mastery of nuance and negative space continues to heighten, whispered brushstrokes of the invisible and the unsaid, what lies beneath and what lies beyond: "Behind the shields and false fronts is usually a sadness. The heartbreaking reflections of what might have been."

Flamenco is a Spanish art, which has always been prone to hybridization with a multitude of musical languages. Therefore, the universe of "flamenco fusion" could well reflect the way in which Spaniards have related throughout history with other cultures. And that relationship may have often been one of dialogue, exchange, respect and crossbreeding. Among the circumstances that could have favored the traditional mestizaje of flamenco art is the open character of the south of the Iberian Peninsula, to all the civilizations that have settled in its territories; the encounter with America in 1492, and the brotherhood with the Spanish-speaking countries; that the Casa de contratación de Indias, the entity that regulated the transit between Spain and America for centuries, was founded in none other than... Seville! (and olé); without forgetting the FUNDAMENTAL African contribution, brought to America by millions of black slaves throughout the 400 years of the slave trade. Pícaro vol. 4 is an excellent example of how some Spanish flamenco musicians knew how to take advantage of the fashion of other styles and rhythms coming from outside Spain, creating a new sound universe and incorporating them into their repertoire. Undoubtedly, there is a generational replacement of "flamenco Ye-Ye" in Spain with artists like Rosalía or C. Tangana, although now it will be necessary to modernize "the label". This compilation offers us a snapshot of the multiple styles of flamenco hybridization that triumphed in the world during the decades of the 50's and 60's of the 20th century. Through its microsurcos we will discover immeasurable flamenco ye yé (track 1), flamenco rock & roll (tracks 3 and 4), flamenco cha cha chá (tracks 6, 7 and 15) or flamenco mambo (track 12), together with other unusual, exotic and impossible mixes of Spanish song with tango arrabalero, bluegrass, easy listening, swing, groove or soul. In 2019, SWEET embarked on the biggest tour of their long career to date with the ‘Still Got The Rock’ tour in Europe and the UK. In between, they even found time to fly to Australia to play as co-headliners on the ‘Rock The Boat Cruise 2019’. The band was fired up and looking forward to the future. But suddenly in 2020, the whole world was in turmoil, triggered by a global pandemic and all wheels came to a standstill overnight. But for Sweet, there had to be a way out, otherwise musical creativity in all its forms would be lost forever. So, in what was a new isolation for everyone, they began to produce a Sweet album with the ‘new’ guys Paul Manzi and Lee Small and the ‘old guard’ Andy Scott and Bruce Bislan. The album was given the title ‘Isolation Boulevard’ to suit the situation. The songs are re-recordings of 12 classics from Sweet's extensive collection. There was little time between the lockdowns in the UK to achieve the desired goal. On top of this, there were numerous technical obstacles that had to be overcome. With this in mind, the overall performance of everyone involved is all the more impressive, from the driving drums and bass to the ‘in your face’ guitars and stratospheric vocals. In the end, it was a pleasure for everyone to record ‘Isolation Boulevard’, despite being under very strict distancing rules. The result speaks for itself. The album will now be released as a Ltd. Edition Neon Yellow Vinyl.

Iridescent Metallic Gold Vinyl. Just before recording their epic disasterpiece, You Are There in late 2005, MONO began collaborating with fellow Tokyo native and modern electronic composer, world's end girlfriend. The result was a five-part suite of neoclassical grace and luminescence that defies easy categorization. As dark as the bottom of the ocean, and nearly as otherworldly, Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain finds MONO inhabiting an illuminated world previously only hinted at in their most orchestral compositions. Recorded in multiple studios in Japan last year, Palmless Prayer highlighted MONO's increasing obsession with classical music with world's end girlfriend's mastery of subtle dynamic shifts. Forgoing their tendency to erupt into hellish bursts of speaker-destroying noise, MONO instead exhibited remarkable restraint, stretching song lengths up to and beyond the 15-minute mark and turning barely-there crescendoes into earth-shaking events. Less an epiphany and more a reminder of the beauty that already exists all around us, Palmless Prayer was a miniature panoramic view of the sea on an eerily still day, the current swaying at an impossibly laconic pace and the sound of a thousand tiny waves crashing in the distance all at once.

Huxley debuts on Rekids with the ‘MIND G%MES’ EP.

UK DJ, producer, and Dumb Safari label head Huxley joins Radio Slave’s Rekids for the first time with the ‘MIND G%MES’ EP, dropping 25th July 2025. The first track, ‘M%ND’, kicks off with woozy and alluring pads swirling round a cuddly but kicking Deep House groove. Soulful vocals and delicate, cosmic melodies rise out of the mix to bring it to a close in style. 'CLUB SH%T' ups the ante with zippy synths injecting some texture to slamming drums that straddle the House and Techno divide, while wispy stabs and warm daubs of sound dance around the cowbells to make this an evaluated late-night tool.

For nigh on a decade, Berlin-based American producer, label boss, promoter and DJ Shy has operated at the centre of a scene that's still not fully defined. Their mythical DJ sets, where you're likely to hear precision-tweaked dubstep, dreampop, decelerated rap and dubwise ambient blended into vapour; gives some sense of the vibes at play, and a comb thru their spiderweb of a catalog - as Caveman LSD or uon, as part of Ghostride the Drift, Hoodie, crimeboys, virtualdemonlaxative and Cypher, or as the figurehead of 3XL, Experiences Ltd, xpq? and bblisss labels - further blurs that gist.

They've been caught in the crossfire of Big Ambient, sure, but there's always been something scrappier, sexier and more present going on under the hood. Shy and his network of associates - Huerco, Ulla, Perila, Ben Bondy, Naemi/Exael, Ponteac Streator and Arad Acid, among others - have asserted the interrelatedness of their discrete approaches. So-called "ambient" music doesn't exist in a vacuum, it un-focuses elements that undergird so many more corporeal sounds, and for Shy, their music reflects the druggy, DIY, genre-agnostic ethos of a trans-Atlantic neo-punk underground that exists in some liminal zone between the club, the bedsit and the basement.

Concerned with themes of “anger, sensuality, and dreaming”, the 40 minute roil of ‘Our Fantasy Complex’ frames Special Guest DJ at their most unapologetically oblique and illusive, expanding and contracting between whorls of shoegazing dynamics and extended portions of quasi-speed D&B x dub tech smeared on the mind’s-eye, with a vivid sense of bruised lushness that’s perfused all shy’s work thus far.

Joined by kindred collaborators Ben Bondy, Arad Acid and mu tate, and suspended in agitated bliss by Rashad Becker’s lucid mastering, the results feel out some of 2025’s most considered and distinctive within an amorphous zone that’s become a world unto itself. Ambient music’s fluffier signifiers are swapped out for a sort of sublime tension that, like the sound’s original ‘90s explosion, can be heard to reflect states of altered consciousness - both individual and collective.

Shy's layered, undulating productions are more like the chewed remnants of a thousand mixtapes cooked into a stream-of-consciousness hex. Save for the glistening, zoomed-out parting piece ‘Dream’, it all mostly avoids pretty melodies in favour of a spatio-textural sensuality that wraps us up, sometimes uncomfortably intimately, in shy’s thoughts. That oneiric closer is one of three gritty palate cleansers that swirl around its peaks, where elements of Reese-bass are suspended, writhing below looming atmospheric pressure in ‘How Long Can I Burn?’, emerging charred and flecked with rattled percussion on ‘Yoro (pt I & II)’, as though K-holing thru a blazing summer’s day.

In step with Perila’s notably darker turn of events on her ‘Omnis Festinatio Ex parts Diaboli Est’, album, or the unexpected ferocity of recent Space Afrika live shows, it’s not hard to hear a darkside gravitational pull on this one, where ambient music is no longer just a balm for troubled souls, but also suggestive of humanity’s most frightful odours.

An adversarial network of ideas, electronic post-punk trio The Wants welcome the possibility that embracing friction can give rise to something cathartic and unexpected. Formed by Madison Velding- VanDam and Jason Gates in 2017, and with the addition of Yasmeen Night in 2021, The Wants' sound is defined by the push and pull of its members' processes: floating rhythms upheaving grounded songwriting, pulsing synths overwhelming live instrumentation. Their new record, Bastard, is an evolution of many of the seeds planted in their debut record, Container (2020), with a refined sense of acerbic emotional urgency and sonic experimentation. Drawing from a deep well of influences across decades and genres, The Wants forge an unlikely alliance of sounds that feels both radical and inevitable. Velding- VanDam channels both the raw power and snark of Public Image Ltd. and The Smiths' romance, while Gates draws intensity from bands like Bauhaus and Throbbing Gristle, and inspiration from experimental techno. Night's sound bridges inspiration from '90s alternative rock like Smashing Pumpkins and Garbage between the nocturnal trip-hop atmosphere of Massive Attack. The result sits in its own category—too raw to be pure electronic music, too mechanised to be straight rock— drawing favorable comparisons to early PIL and contemporaries like Model/Actriz while remaining distinctly their own beast.
