A-side Super Jock is an edit of Goody Goody's (produced by Vincent Montana Jr) 'Super Jock' from 1978, an uptempo disco funk monster with a wild fusion breakdown, jazzy keys and a breathy female vocal part.
On the flip, our master editors extend summer with a solid rework of Stereolab's breezy 1994 track "Ping Pong".

Four originals from J&AG—Jaymo and Andy George—the British producers behind the adored Moda Music and Moda Black labels. Buttery, pippin' hothouse in the mode of French touch producers circa the mid-90s. Or late 90s. Don't think about it too much—just let the music work its magic.

Siegmar Fricke describes his music as 'dynamic dancable collage-pop with a 90s technoid tendency'. The music on this release is made by Yamaha sampling- keyboards, Yamaha multieffects, synthesizers and 60s magnetic tape recorder, recorded on a four-track Tascam tape-machine. From 1987 - 1993 he produced twenty four cassette releases, some on his former label 'Bestattungsinstitut' and some on other tape-labels all around the globe. This vinyl is a fine selection of various tapes from 1988 - 1993 slightly edited for club use and remastered by Berlin's masterchef Kitaro from Schnittstelle. Heavy underground dancematerial for the first time on vinyl!!! Comes with a strong extended dancefloor remix by Manfredas.

Quality is the key word from Copenhagen based Music For Dreams and here is another home run. Willie Graff splits his year between DJ residencies in New York and Ibiza. In this new outing with studio partner Darren Eboli, the influence is, as the title suggests, clearly NY-based. Over only four tracks, the pair manage to craft a stunningly comprehensive exploration of the essential elements of dance music.

Opening track "Love Flight" staggers into a lush string-driven groove that recalls the glory of Metro Area meets Wally Badarou vibes. Minimal yet playful, it lounges somewhere in the depths of the house tradition, calling on familiar sounds while throwing in odd details along the way (harmonicas). It takes both skill, devotion and a sense of humor to pull this track off, making for a strong opening. "Moon Tan" lingers on a metallic hook that drags you into a plethora of percussion followed by a rubbery soft baseline. Dubby key work would suggest this was a new wave band jamming at Compass Point, while the icy chill of the xylophone transports you into 80s italo territory.

"Second Sun" pulls out the bag of boogie tricks, relying on a firm but humble baseline and smattering drum machine claps. Nile Rodgers-style guitar licks guide us onwards into a well-orchestrated jam that builds up and breaks down with perfect timing while dreamy chords reach for the sky. "First Light" keeps the groove tight while dipping over towards more Balearic temperatures. Steeped in a watery atmosphere and gentle organic percussion, it focuses in on a trance-inducing arpeggio that lulls you in to the swaying Badarou-style synth swirls that intercept it.

MTL is just one of the successful pseudonyms that have been associated with DJ Apt One. Pittsburgh-reared but Philly-bred, that City of Brotherly Love flavor is resident in nearly all of his work. A 'genre-setter' of Nu-disco before it had a name, Michael has consistently delivered quality DANCE MUSIC through his production and DJing for more than a decade.Great music often plays homage to its foundational past. Michael's original music accomplishes this with his sample-based focus rooted in a disco-funk-soul core but with a keen sensibility for today's dance floor. His incorporation of live vocals, like Amy Douglas' gutsy performance on the modern funk monster - 'Get It On', results in original SONGS vs. the 'one hour bedroom tracks' that proliferate today. Live instrumentation has also been Michael's hallmark, differentiating his past hits like 'Get More' and '909 and Herb' and on this EP with the hypnotic, 'Changer'. I also love Michael The Lion's focus on POSITIVITY in MESSAGE, as is evident with the uplifting 'Side of Life'.

Phonk D connects with his buddy Le Rubrique. They created three real floor bangers with some heavy punch. Raw MPC drums, disco samples and classic synths melt into a deep funky mixture. As a very special goodie they could team up with the great Borrowed Identity, who contributed a pretty nice remix to this EP. Watch your feet!

Jackie Moore's 1979 Disco bomb 'This time baby' is one of the biggest tracks of the genre. A total classic that found fame on the dancefloors via DJ's like David Mancuso, Larry Levan and Ron Hardy it is the epitome of a roof-raiser. Produced by Philly legend Bobby Eli (MFSB, Salsoul Orchestra, Stylistics, Barbara Mason) and mixed by underground Disco legend John Luongo this is an essential 12". Originally performed by The O-Jays Jackie's version ramps the energy right up to the max and cranks the heat up to 100. Everything is here, killer driving drums and percussion, THAT bassline that drops, the cowbells, horns, strings and of course...... Jackie! This is a straight repress of the '79 pressing on Columbia and features the sweet b-side 'Let's go somewhere and make love', another breezy Philly number courtesy of Mr. Eli yet again. All round quality. This classic has been legally reissued by Above Board distribution in conjunction with the legal rights holders - Sony Music Entertainment. This high quality repress features original Columbia pink label Disco 12" artwork and has been remastered from Sony's original sources by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK.

We gave it to them straight: "Let us remix your song or we're taking all the meatballs."Having heard the baggy psychedelic beauty that is Rushing Through My Mind' on Lauren Laverne's 6Music show, we thought we could do a number on it. Turn it into a psychedelic disco record (with added meatballs). We think we managed it, reliving the rushy highs from indie-dance's finest moments of 1991. For those of you unaware of the splendid Swedish rockers' groovy workings, they have already released two albums, debut Horse Dance in 2015 and last year's excellent Mirage, from which the ecstatic Rushing...' comes. Following on from his massive 'Feel It In My Bones' release (which gained support from the likes of Moodymann, The Black Madonna, Gilles Peterson, Sassy J, Seven Davis Jr) and a killer remix for Afrobeat legend Dele Sosimi - North London producer Books returns to XVI Records with two storming edits, kicking off their new 'High Praise' series in fine style.
'In The Groove' hits the ground running, immediately throwing the listener into the middle of peak-hour, loft party hysteria, it's soulful vocals swirling overhead whilst the driving, unrelenting rhythms create a sweaty, electrically charged delirium. On the flip, 'Passage Of Time' takes a slightly more introspective approach, it's shuffled hats and hazy keys giving way to majestic, uplifting horns - guiding the way down a psychedelic black hole, it's laid back groove providing a perfect soundtrack to the voyage, as planets spin by in the darkness.

Repress from the promotional 7"single from 1984 by Felix - the collaboration between Nicky Siano and Arthur Russell ! Arthur Russell and DJ Nicky Siano contemplated working together once again after their first collaboration in 1978 lead to a successful 12' single called Kiss me Again' on Sire under the Moniker Dinosaur where David Byrne even played lead guitar. Their second collaboration Tiger Stripes' came as the result of Siano convincing the father or a then girlfriend to fund the venture. Arthur wrote the lyrics, and while Siano remembers remembers the Demo tracks being promising, problems began to emerge as Studio time began ticking. Russell became annoyed by Siano's hyperactive personality in the Studio, while the former Gallery/Studio 54 DJ grew impatient of his collaborator's constant changes and money spent in studio time. However according Author Tim Lawrence the feud escalated when Arthur wanted to introduce a drum machine after the session drummer could not keep the time. As a result, he ended up scrapping the original tracks which included vocals recorded by Evelyn Thomas. However the nail in the coffin came when Siano assumed the role of lead vocalist at which point Russell quit appalled by how terrible he sounded. Although a perfectionist, Russell also suspected Siano had been using the project as a platform for himself as a vocalist. In any case their project went on with Siano as lead and newly recorded backup vocals by Maxine Bell. Released on Splash Records in 1984, Siano is credited as the artist and sole-producer while Russell only agreed to be credited under the alias Killer Whale.Not too long after, Sleeping Bag released a 7' promotional copy of Tiger Stripes' featuring only Bell as the sole vocalist, a different B-Side and Felix as the artist name. Although Russell did not credit himself by his real name, he credited the Killer Whale alias for all the writing and production on the single. There is a 12' on Sleeping bag which credits Siano for production on Tiger Stripes' but it's clear from the release of the 7' that Russell wanted to make a statement. Beyond this peculiar story however, the music itself is worth the note. In a 2014 piece for The Vinyl Factory, Peter Zummo, one of Arthur Russell's closest collaborators best describes this release:
Side A: 'Tiger Stripes', is a crazy editing job with lots of disparate elements. The opening beats give little sense of what key it will be in. Side B: 'You Can't Hold Me Down', is drum machine and conga, rhythm guitar, keyboard, female refrain and lead vocal, and male chant on bad little kitten - pounce on you.' There's no real bass. I like it not only for the way it sounds but also that it shows that you don't have to follow the rules.

This split LP compiles the output of two closely related bands from, as suggested by the title, the hot, humid and (at the time) socially isolated city of Brisbane, Australia - an unlikely location for synth-pop and new wave music during the 1980s.Prod & the Moonbaby were a high school duo experimenting with tape loops, cheap electronics and primitive sampling.. the result is certainly lo-fi, light-hearted and naive, but also charming and the music belies the young age of the musicians.Ash In October was in many ways a logical progression of Prod & the Moonbaby and shared some of the same personnel, but also added some new wave influence through extra instrumentation and more serious, considered lyrics. Most of these tracks have never been heard before outside a handful of self-distributed tapes and this compilation was compiled over several years by the artists in collaboration with Hysteric and Nick Mariano (Crispy Nuggets).

From Da Vaults... Nettles is a new series from Red Rack'ems Bergerac label which will focus on the more sample based end of things. Tracks which have remained secret weapons for many years will finally see the light of day. This first release features music which was played by quite a few heavy hitters but sadly remained lost on the hard drive...until now...'Bill George' starts of as a super funky, cut up electro disco jam which morphs into the mother of all breakdowns before drifting into super deep Detroit style house and then peaking back to the original electro funk vibes. A secret weapon for the likes of Crazy P (who featured it on their Beats In Space mix way back in 2010) and one of Red Rack'em most 'unreleased tracks requested for release', there's going to be quite a few people around the world celebrating Bill George finally making it to wax. A 30 second piece of incidental music from a long lost German children's television series is extended into a late night disco jam 'Timm' which picked up props from none other than Todd Terje when Danny extended it back in the Hot Coins edit days of 2007. Another 'lost' track which is finally seeing release.... 'Transfer List' began life as a hip hop beat which ended up being such an epic opus that the full glory of the track had to be unleashed. Once again a Cdr classic for a trusted few. A super funky beat evolves into a kind of honky tonk vibe sort of on the KMD tip but with added poppy vocals. Made in 2003

Native New Yorker Son Of Sound aka Henry Maldonado returns to Delusions of Grandeur with another fine EP including two floor-friendly originals plus a stripped back remix from Aroop Roy. For those too young to have been buying records in the early 90's Henry was a key figure, involved in seminal releases on Strictly Rhythm as House 2 House, Maxi Records as Deja Vu and MAW Records as Rhythm Section. To say this guy has history is something of an understatement having made an important contribution to the first wave of deep house with productions dating right back to '91. More recently he has created magic for Jus Ed's Underground Quality, Classic, Razor n Tape and Local Talk as well as establishing his own District30 imprint.
We kick off with NY Iz All I Know, a warm, soulful yet pumping slice of what can only be described as proper house music! Looped up vocal chops bounce around a classic disco groove until things breakdown into a new chord progression and saw wave bassline which add an interesting twist to the arrangement. Skin Tight drops next introducing a funk break underneath the solid four on the floor kick. One of Henry's trademark chord progressions emerges and the elements build up around to form another masterclass in sample-heavy house perfection.
Aroop Roy steps up for the remix following a run of fine edits and originals on the likes of Freestyle, Basic Fingers and House Of Disco. NY Iz All I Know gets stripped back and pumped up, taking the key elements and adding his own disco inspired groove and Moogy synth business for a floor- pleasing gem that we're sure will help find him new fans from across the house and disco spectrum.

KosmoramaDisco Vol. 1 is the first of a series of compilations that KosmoramaDisco label wants to release from this year to the near future. Philadelphian Jazz legend Benny Golson has had a long and storied career, he's played with luminaries such as John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie and Art Blakey just to mention a small handful. Obviously his credentials are rock solid and his skills as a tenor sax legend are undisputed.
'I'm always dancin' to the music' from 1978 is taken from Benny's LP of the same name. Released on the mighty Columbia imprint as a mono & stereo promo-only white label it's status among underground soul, funk & jazz aficionados is heavyweight, a true 'rare groove' indeed. Produced by George Butler (whose credentials are no less than impressive!) this one has been a hugely popular dance record that has never been easy to track down in 12" form, often topping 'most expensive' record lists it's a record that certainly won't appear in your local second hand spot anytime soon.
Due to it's scarcity and the fact that 'I'm always dancin' to the music' is such a stellar, uplifting piece of jazz-funk-disco goodness it's no surprise that the bootleggers have tried their hand at replicating this masterful release, often resulting in some fairly shoddy facsimiles. Fear not, this beautiful, legit repress comes to you via the combined forces of Above Board distribution and Sony Music, utilising their superior and original master sources and lovingly remastered and repressed just as the 1978 promo 12" was released. No messing around here.

1976 - The Brothers were an emerging Disco soul septet whose blistering arrangements and ferocious playing had earned them a cult following and a major label deal. Little did they know that only a few years after the release of 'Brothers theme' that it would be a huge record on the dance-floors of NYC's Paradise Garage and Chicago's Music Box with both Larry Levan and Ron Hardy hammering the record behind the controls every night. The playing of the group paired with the production prowess of the legendary producer, writer and arranger Warren Schatz (Frankie Valli, Dolly Parton, Vickie Sue Robinson and more) combined to make a fairly heady brew of Disco, orchestral overtures and bombast that just ignites. 'Proper' Disco music in it's purest form, still doing damage today! The Patchouli Brothers first began throwing parties in an Albanian dive bar in Toronto's east end, but have gone on to grace the stage at a spectrum of the city's establishments.

They hold down a residency at a rotating disco jam called Beam Me Up which, while held monthly at the Piston, has taken place in a film studio, an artist commune, above a furniture store and inside the Great Hall.

Hard to catagorise, their personal folktronica is the result of Mark's melodic guitar, clavinet, bass and vocals running through Clive's array of synthesisers. filters and effects, creating
something unique and sadly still, an largely unknown genius.
Described as sounding like the music the Durutti Column would of made with Penguin Cafe Orchestra if produced by Brian Eno, Woo have recorded over 1,500 tracks, however here for
the first time is the remastered reissue of their cult and cryptically titled debut album.
With percussion that echoes elements of Kosmiche's rolling rhythms, the subtle and often brooding textures and moods hint at fully formed songs that are in reality a series of instrumental vignettes which together create a cinematic whole.
More than simple ambient minimalism, the liquid sounds seep in to your brain to offer a particular take of the English new age meditative mindset - the green and pleasant land maybe but with a twist of darkness not expected across 13 laconic pieces.
Released on both screen printed vinyl and CD, Whichever Way will be followed by what could be their masterpiece, Into The Heart Of Love. Previously only available on cassette this will
be a collectors dream, while an in production third album promises further intrigue, bringing together the Ives brothers and fellow space travellers the Seahawks. Close your eyes.

As ever, the next project on Opilec Music is one with a rich back story this time paying homage to a very specific disco scene of the early 80s: it finds label boss I-Robots turning out one of his brilliant reconstructions, namely of a classic and cult track by one hit wonders Ahzz.

Philly's Double Exposure have undoubtedly earned the title of Disco legends, their music has long been part of the heartbeat with numerous classics under their belts. Their mighty release 'Ten per cent' was the first commercially issued 12" single and subsequently ushered in the notion of the format as a 'go to' in the clubs and among DJ's. Originally thought of as a fad in a world where the 45 was king, this 12" release unknowingly changed the direction of dance music and music promotions practically overnight. Disco history indeed.

In a discography that includes releases on too many quality labels to mention, we are proud to present Toronto's very own Demuir and his Yoruba Records label debut with 'Discover'. Vocal duties are handled by another native from the 6, the lovely and talented Cynthia Amoah. Demuir and Cynthia have proven to be a formidable team, collaborating in previous bangers such as 'Here's To Friday' and 'Such Is Life'."We marching on and walking together softly..." 'Discover' takes us through that initial first encounter of two lovers. That point where you feel the entire world opening up to unimagined possibility. The adrenaline starts to rush and the anticipation builds. You begin to listen to your heart thump in the same way you feel Demuir's signature hard drums thump. The endorphins begin to take control now as Karizma brings his late night Kaytronik vibes to the proceedings. The Kaytronik Treasure Dub is the moodiest of all of these remixes. This scorcher slowly builds up the tension using Cynthia's vocals as almost a mind map of how we go about these new discoveries. We try to keep our cool, we want to 'discover' with restraint, but inside, the further we look within, we're elated. The volume of the vocals say so much in this mix while the physical build up moves to more climactic oceans. Our lovers have hit our peak. 'I'll Walk With You Into The Sunlight... '

Rounding out things nicely, N'dinga Gaba brings a wonderful cool out of swinging deep house with its synth bass lines and soothing looped out keys. Gaba's rendition will appease any and all fans who enjoy their house with a touch of Kerri Chandler. The Baltimore-based producer brings out a more tender energy out of Cynthia's vocals and it's the perfect conclusion to an ecstatic experience.

Now unleashing his 'Weirdo disco' style on Masterworks Music Here, he packs his studio creations win a tidy, 10" format with a double-header with "Candies" on the a-side and "Stay" holding down the b-side. 'Candies' offers the perfect counterpart with a shuffling, low-key vibe. Every much as danceable as the flip, "Candies" pairs jangling guitar riffs with vocoded rhymes and more undulating vocal snips. Clavinets dripping in wah-wah wackiness keep the mood light and funky and recall the glory days of acts like Faze Action and Crazy P.
Flipping over to the B side 'Stay' wastes no time getting down to business with wonky, percussive intro that launches head-first into a stomping Moog-bass groove. Layers of vocal samples undulated and punctuate the rock-steady disco beat while chords and claps get the hips shaking.

Respuesta Alternativa or the Alternative Response was the project of Spanish musician Jesus Mª Catalan, created with the help of Julián C. Pérez.

As the title implies the music was generated in response to traditional music notions of the time, and reflects how Jesus Mª Catalan would challenge these traditional ideals using a fusion of styles and his unique vision. Jesus laid out his synths and drum machines, while other musicians played traditional instruments over the top. This unique approach worked to create atmospheric tracks capturing simple themes, with each influence being carefully thought of in the joint result. As he explains each instrument weaves independently throughout a passage in a curious game where the listener's attention goes from focusing on a keyboard, guitar to bass or percussion. Previously only released on a cassette album in Spain, Left Ear have polished 5 choice cuts for a 2018 12'.

My third week in Amsterdam I found my way to a small speakeasy tucked away amongst a labyrinth of cobbled alleyways. A doorman waved me inside, a knowing smile twisted around the half-smoked blunt hanging from his lips. I made my way down crooked, narrow stairs into a dimly lit room full of patrons nodding in the haze, feet tapping in time as they smiled and sipped at green-tinged cocktails. The soft sound of glasses clinking amongst murmured conversation served to accentuate the flaw in the scene before me; there was no music. Realising I'd paused in the entrance long enough to draw a few amused looks from the tables nearest me, I regained my composure and headed towards the bar, pondering the mystery before me. I reached the counter as the barman was mixing a cocktail and waited, but before I could order the man turned and placed a glass in front of me, the same half smile on his lips the doorman had shown me as he nodded at a specials board listing a Pistachio Sour. It sounded good so I took it to an empty seat and returned to my examination of the bizarre room. As I sat down a grinning girl next to me offered a toke on her joint, and as the no indoor-smoking law was clearly being ignored here I gratefully took a careless draw. As my coughing subsided I took a deep gulp of my drink, and suddenly music flooded my ears. My jaw dropped as I raised my head to see a guy on stage mesmerising the crowd with chill beats, house music permeating the formerly silent bar. The girl with the joint smiled at my amazement. "His name's Sune" she told me, "Welcome to 8 Till Late".

Summer is in the air, celebrating in vivid colour and creating everything a new. It therefore seems the perfect time for Black Hot Records to emerge into the light with a pair of cracking disco re-works.

The man behind the mixing desk is however no novice, having served up his first instalment of dance floor dynamite way back in 1991, and there followed a decade of underground signals under various guises, before a self-imposed exile and prolonged radio silence ensued...

Rising phoenix like from a suitably fashionable hiatus, and using the alias Discotonik to cover his tracks, this is a blazing return to the fray that catapults our man firmly into the middle of the action. The A side open's with Slicks 'Space Bass', Slick being a cosmic side project for Larry James (Fat Larry's Band) ,expertly re-tooled to fire up today's dancefloor. The flip is very much in the same anthemic territory, with added punch underpinning Goody Goody's 'It Looks Like Love'. Its creator Vince Montana, the vibraphonist & Disco Godfather who founded Philadelphia's MFSB before leaving to set up the legendary Salsoul record label spent decades honing the art of 'moving the crowd'. This track is a family affair with his daughter Denise Montana handling vocal duties. Both these reworks are irresistible and we expect them to feature heavily in the sound of summer 2016.

Like the very best of today's editors, Discotonik does not set out to reinvent the wheel. Since back in the day, the basic wheel functions perfectly well, yet with some modification and augmentation, they are now arguably better designed for the modern highways. Similarly, these reconstructions retain all that was wonderful about the originals, yet add a little magic to meet the rigorous demands and tastes of a new generation of nocturnal creatures.

You will almost certainly be familiar with the source material and these Black Hot rubs provide a new twist as well as a great excuse to get them back out of the vaults and onto the play-list.

The third outing for Modern Manners emerges on the back of two very strong 12"s that introduced this anonymous outfit to the world. "Timeless Vibe" continues where the last release left off, building up a wonderfully cosmic bed of processed melody under which casual hand played percussion and warm bass notes can linger. "Azzahar" too keeps things pleasantly soporific with its gentle pace and lilting guitar refrains, and then "Middle East Manners" rounds this excellent trio of EPs out with a beautifully realised swirl of sounds that find focus once a kick drum starts pulsing and the percussion starts building. Quite who Modern Manners are is a mystery at this stage, but across these three 12"s they've certainly made their presence felt in the softest, most laid back of ways.

The Soultrend Orchestra is the brainchild of author and arranger Nerio "Papik" Poggi (who has produced more than 20 albums in the last 10 years and has collaborated with several Italian and international artists including Mario Biondi , Matt Bianco, Sarah Jane Morris, Wendy D Lewis and Tom Gaebel) accompanied for this new project by producer and composer Luigi Di Paola with whom Papik has been working for over twenty years.
The first Album related to 'Soultrend' was released in 2011 and was titled 'Groovy Nights'.
Now out of the catalog, it had a glimpse of all their musical experiences and preferred genres : soul, funky, disco and acid
jazz. The Album was mostly appreciated in UK.
The new album by 'Soultrend Orchestra' is entitled '84 King Street', the band gets bigger and Present a more ambitious project than the previous one. The main inspiration is clearly the disco sound of Nile Rodgers & Chic who have been so popular of lately with a worldwide rebirth of this musical style , the sound of the Album is also dipping into the Italo House tradition, recently re-evaluated in today's world of dance, by Italian producers like Mauro Malavasi and his most famous projects 'Change' and 'Peter Jaques Band'.
More than 35 musicians and singers have taken part in the recording of the Orchestra's Album. among the featuring vocalists, Lucy Campeti (from the Duo Groovy Sistas), who has worked with Gabin, Franco Micalizzi, Gloria Gaynor and Mario Biondi, Ely Bruna, (who has featured in most of Papik's projects),
Frankie Lovecchio, (who has collaborated with Claudio Baglioni, Delegation, Mario Biondi, Mike Francis and Amy Stewart), the soul Band 'Adika Pongo', who in 2011 released an album for the historic UK soul label 'Expansion Records',
Frankie Pearl (from the Duo 'Groovy Sistas'), a very talented singer. Los Angeles born, who has featured in the recent years in various Rai TV Shows, Anna Fondi (one half of the 'More Blonde' duo), highly demanded as a vocalist for international dance projects, Letizia Liberati ('More Blonde'), Isabella Canana, Dario Daneluz, all three well-known Italian session vocalists, and to complete the list the Soul duo Janine Johnson and Eli Thompson, aka 'Westcost Soulstars'.
Endless are also the important collaboration of over 20 musicians involved with the Orchestra.
The title "84 King Street" refers to the address of New York legendary "Paradise Garage" disco where Larry Levan (world
renowned Disco DJ) was the main resident and where Disco Music had its highest peak in popularity during the second
half of 70's.

Dreamtime astrotraveled to great hieghts to find melodic Baleriec music from the Baltic. Bobby Bricks provides his simple bell hypnotic grooves with kalidspope pads which drift like raft in a sunshower. Miskotom gives a completely fresh take on laid back cassette tape drum machine music. Songs groove with non repeative beautifil melodies, low fi guitar riffs and classy reverbs.

The final release of 2015 by the label sees it journey to mid-80s Argentina and the highly sought after 2nd solo album of Carlos Cutaia. Inspired by the new electronic
sounds emanating from Europe, this multi-instrumentalist offers more than a pastiche, embedding his own melancholy in a unique and classic "nueva wave" album. Classically trained, Carlos Cutaia started as a composer for dance and theatre, before spending much of the 1970s as a member of a number heavy rock, prog rock and rock-fusion bands of some note,
before finally going solo with the City Of Distant Tones album in 1983. However, by the time of his 2nd solo album in 1985, as his country finally left behind a long period of military control and enjoyed greater freedoms, Carlos was fully immersed in the new electronic pop sounds imported with hungry ears from Europe.
Teaming up with fellow composer, keyboardist and producer, Daniel Melero and Alejandro Oucinde, the futurism of Kraftwerk and Gary Numan's Tubeway Army was embraced, but also adapted to fit their native land, just as it was understand a new modernity. Starting with the swagger of Visiones Incomunicadas, the template is set. Sharp drum machines, Hemi-nonchalant, half spoken vocals set the scene, while chopped guitar and smart synth lines fit the over riding feeling of an intelligent nonchalance.
Things however, do go beyond the straightjacket of Euro-pop as heard on the anthemic Programacion and avant twist of the first of two piano-ambient pieces Aproximacion Dos - and it's
companion piece "Uno" found on the b side). Eric Satie and minimalism are clearly not far away. However, it is side B opener Sensacion Melancolica that captures the sound to perfection. A Balearic masterpiece, capturing in it's title the over-riding atmospheric of a unexplained sadness, a loss.
Operativo and the poem Humanos De America bring things to an end - of a "feeling melancolica."

Hunee, aka Hun Choi, is a Korean Berliner who has been drawn in music since a very young age. After working in record stores and studying musicology he resided in Amsterdam, where he released his debut album Hunch Music. As a DJ he has always followed 'a hunch', which gave him wings to communicate the music he loves with crowds all over the world. With Hunchin' All Night, Hunee expresses his relationship with the dance floor.

Arriving at their fourth release, Emotional Rescue's knowledge of forgotten musical gems and their commitment to give them the chance of wider appreciation they fully deserve cannot be in question! After digging out that Bob Chance classic, the focus switches to something of an equally balearic nature with the release of Jaki Whitren & John Cartwright's lost folk rock album International Times. Originally released as a private press on the obscure French label Living Records back in 1983, this eight track album is filled with dusty soul nuggets which are given extra life by the silky vocal stylings of Whitren - formerly a backing singer for Alan Parson. Opening track "Stay Cool" sounds quite ahead of it's time, whilst there are some true dancefloor gems for the more adventurous DJs out there, such as the title track and the laid back bump of "Go With The Flow."

Maajo stands for May. The month of excitement and expectation of imminent joy. A time of hope following weeks and months of rain and cold. The time that best encapsulates escapism, those wistful, delightful daydreams. A time when you release yourself from everyday routine and already begin to live in the holiday that hasn't yet arrived. A place that might not even exist. Let it be a warm, a joyous place, a fuzzy bricolage you witness after passing out while watching a David Attenborough documentary. Outlandish and romantic ideas of distant cultures. Maajo is motion, movement from one place to another. It is moving without travelling, dream and dance.
Maajo is a musical continuation of the similarly titled 12' single by Herman Prime, the producer's idea expanded to a five member band. The music is the product of a mixed technique where vocal samples and programmed synthesizers coalesce with fingerplucked guitars and handheld percussion. Beneath everything run several strong currents of inspiration: an obsession with balearic disco, deep tribal roots, a love of eighties afropop, lessons from minimalist composers and a desire to just dub it up.
Tropic of Tulli is not a direct flight but a meandering journey. Starting beside a flowing river, Kaba sends us on our way with a gentle arrangement of kalimba and a Mandinga poem. Two midtempo groovers, Tum'pi and Makkara, set an expectant mood. Musa Paradisa lands on a tropical island with plentiful percussion and a clatter of mallets. The party starts with the fervent afrodisco number Okudu. There is a strange detour to an urban cityscape with Fode's meandering bass line and street drummer for company. The path leads to a dark rainforest, both menacing and inviting, following Kofi Obu's feverish vocal and desertic guitar riff. Darkness is Good is a bout of afrocosmic exploration. A.O.O. offers a final chance for a sunrise dance before the beautiful balearic theme Maajo closes the album with an intoxicated smile.

Gazel is one of those tunes that went viral from the very first minute. Dj's like Baris K, Ata or Acid Arab are still playin this tune since it was made in 2013. Mehmet Aslan and Dario Rohrbach finally managed to create with "Gazel" this kind of tune that blows away every dance floor. The impact was not only on the dance floor. Several threads on social media appeared with videos, desperately looking for the track ID. But there were also the ones, that had to rip it of a set of Baris K, so they can play it. The B-Side goes definetly deeper when Alma Negra is able to make a tune you want to open your set. On this gem they combine northafrican folklore sounds with classic deephouse drumpatterns and trippy synths. Fleeting Wax has managed to put together some of the most promising Artists of the hour, having Dario Rohrbach on board who is part of the Alma Negra collective and will hit this year with promising releases for example on Yoruba. This Release is going to find his way in many dj-bags and wont leave it so fast.

REPRESS ALERT! Spearheaded by Stuart Leath, Emotional Rescue is a label committed to unearthing forgotten gems and giving them the exposure they richly deserve, with all releases officially licensed by the artist and remastered in full. This 12" sees two classic tracks by the world music collective Suns of Arqa take pride of place. Incorporating elements of raga and dub, "Brujo Magic" is a much more straightforward dancefloor number than its description would suggest, with its rolling bassline and vocoder effects fusing irresistibly with its psyche-rock styles. On the B-Side, "Ananta Snake Dance" combines traditional Indian percussion and harmonium with conventional drumming to create something completely unique. A strong start to what will no doubt be an indispensable label.

THE TRIBE OF GOOD is a brand new supergroup collective headed up by multi Grammy-nominated dance producer Hal Ritson (Duke Dumont/Sigma/Dizzee Rascal/Katy Perry/The Young Punx/High Contrast... ) re-imagining the classic sounds of Soul, Disco and Funk for the 21st Century.

The debut track Loving You Baby' features production by Fatboy Slim's Skint records protege Thomas Gandey / Cagedbaby, and vocals from the exceptional dTale (Sigma / Dizzee Rascal).

After early independent copies were played heavily on BBC 6Music and playlisted by Mi-Soul radio plus FM4 and Ego FM in Germany the track is now back for a full release including a new house remix from Toolroom favourite Weiss who as had a superb 4 years in the limelight, remixing for the likes of MK, Icarus and Gorgon City. The Weiss remix was recently premiered on Radio One's essential mix by Pete Tong. It reached number 1 in the Buzz Chart (11-01-18).

Hailing from Mexico, Zombies In Miami have caught the ears of the electro disco faithful with outings for Correspondent and Love On The Rocks. The twosome are debuting on Bordello A Parigi with a pair of late night burners. 'Turquoise' is a sliding snaking piece of synthesizer sorcery. Crisp beats are draped in hazy harmonies, reverb soaked bars rising amongst soaring keys and echoed vocals for a work of true elation. 'Hipodromo' follows, and starts as it means to go out. Drums crash before a floor melting synthline is dropped. The swirl of the mirrorball takes over as this duo whisk you into the warm and melting sounds of strings, rich bass and climbing claps.

The ever elusive duo, Flight Facilities, will release their new single I Didnt Believe on May 7th (North America) & May 8th (Australia & rest of world) 2013. Alongside the tandem production outfit, Alexander Burnett (of Sparkadia) & Marcus Browne share songwriting credits and bring a silky pop feeling to the song.The duo came to international recognition through the success of debut single Crave You, and have maintained a spotlight in the form of subsequent singles Foreign Language, With You and the more recent ambient, brooding track Clair De Lune. After pleasantly surprising everyone with the dark atmospherics of Clair De Lune, I Didnt Believe is a brief return to familiarity. It's disco. No need to beat about the bush on that one. As taboo as the term has become, the genre has had more come-backs than a Hollywood bad guy. From the bass to the strings, it's nothing more than an unadulterated, feel-good guilty pleasure. I Didnt Believes release follows uncharacteristically quickly after their last single, but by no means was it hastily slapped together. The instrumental was Flight Facilities' first original production after the release of Crave You, however the song has been a work in progress for almost 2 years. This time around Flight Facilities are joined by their close friend, Elizabeth Rose. The up-and-coming electronic-pop singer/producer in the vein of Bjork and Fever Ray, shows her diversity by bringing an early-80s-Madonna flair to the track. The song comes complete with a remix package, including another world-renowned secretive disco duo Tiger & Woods, New York based label owner Lou Teti (Tigers On A Leash) and studio buddy Light Year.

First up on the fresh Amsterdam-based label Late Night Burners is Kurley's debut 'Feelings EP'. For this young and very talented musician anything goes, as long as it's unique, warm, rhythmic, and raw, and this five tracker perfectly showcases this ethos. From the uplifting, acid-driven title track, we dive straight into Heartbeat', taking us a level deeper. On the B-side Kurley starts off with the stabby, slightly melancholic 'Long Time' while never losing the floor out of sight, preparing us for the vocoder-infused killer 'Groove All Night'. Closing off the EP is 'Tribute', bringing a more exotic type of heat. In short: a lot to love.

Serge Devant returns to the forefront with 'Always On My Mind' for Damian Lazarus's Crosstown Rebels, complete with remixes from Kornél Kovács and Pirupa. First heard on Lazarus's Essential mix in 2015 and much requested since, 'Always On My Mind' has been causing tremors in its wake. Oceanic waves of melody frame muted vocals from Ali Love, resulting in a chiselled classic bridging the splintered sounds of today.Pirupa's remix is a shadowy monster with a deviant bassline, allowing the vocal to etch out shards of light. His recent groundswell is undeniable, mapping out a chart-topping string of releases on the likes of Drumcode, Desolat and Noir. Stockholm's Kornél Kovács has not escaped the spotlight in recent months, be it through his Studio Barnhus label that he runs together with Axel Boman and Pedrodollar, prolific releases on Numbers and Smallville and topping many end of year charts for 2015. His effervescent remix rolls up its sleeves to distill elegance into the original, extending the vocal and braising the beats and melody.
With this release Devant cements a triumphant year putting him back in centre stage after an accident that tore him away from the studio, and digs deeper into his production skills, adding to his growing repotoire of recent releases on Hot Creations' sister label Emerald City and Crosstown's cousin Rebellion. Devant mastered his craft at the legendary NYC nightclubs of the late 90s, Tunnel, Limelight, and Crobar, carving out consistently compelling and dynamic sets. His production career started in 2008 and soon spawned two albums, and a touring schedule that has since seen Serge circumnavigate the globe.

In 1997 he won the KISS FM Berlin Next Generation Deejay award as one of the most exciting newcomer deejays at the time. As a producer and remixer he has worked with a number of outstanding artists such as Amp Fiddler, Fae Simon, Milly James and Inkswel. He's released edits, remixes and original productions on labels such as ISM, Gazeebo, Midnight Riot, Voyeurhythm, BBE, Editorial and his own imprint Love Sexy Records.
His compositions have a uniquely raw yet polished and distinctive quality. As a regular presenter on community radio stations around the globe he shares

Everybody's Darling Rahaan is back with three hard knocking Acid Tracks.

In May 1976 a record was released that would have an unforeseen and lasting impact on the music industry Ten Percent' by Double Exposure was an early release on the New York independent label Salsoul Records. America was in the grip of a disco explosion with new clubs opening on a weekly basis, Salsoul saw what was happening and swiftly created a sound for their label, heavily influenced by the music then coming out of Philadelphia, aimed directly at New York's dance-floors. Records like Salsoul Hustle,' Tangerine' and You're Just The Right Size' by The Salsoul Orchestra borrowed heavily from the beautifully orchestrated Philadelphia International records but added a more percussive, bass heavy depth that New York's DJs loved. So what was so special about this particular single then Double Exposure was, after all, just another band, Ten Percent' just another song, one of many disco' records released that week. First of all Salsoul became the first record label to make a twelve inch single available to Joe Public - the exotic format was previously only available to DJs as promotional items or bought under the counter at certain record stores. Not only that though, the extended version was created by Walter Gibbons, a DJ at New York's Galaxy 21 who'd built his reputation making exclusive versions of tracks to play in his sets. In 1976 it was unheard of for a DJ to set foot in a recording studio, being seen as little more than living jukeboxes by the serious music industry. Recording studios were strictly the domain of recording artists and producers so Walter found himself in a unique position, gaining access to a world no DJ had been granted before. Or so we thought...
The Men In The Glass Booth tells the full story. Featuring ground breaking re-edits and remixes by some of the Disco era's most influential DJs including Walter Gibbons, Bobby DJ Guttadaro, Tom Savarese, Jellybean Benitez, Tee Scott and John Luongo, this opulent release also includes a 40 page book which features exclusive photos and insights from some of the story's key figures.

Japonaiserie was the term the Dutch post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh used to express the influence of Japanese art. Artists including Manet, Degas and Monet, followed by Van Gogh, began to collect the cheap colour wood-block prints called ukiyo-e prints" A mini LP by Benoit B, the boss of Banlieue Records , on which he creates a futuristic environment influenced by the Japanese electronics of the '80s. A musical "Japanaiserie" that can melt your cold cold heart.

The Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra is Far Out's in-house, Brazilian disco super group. It features the arrangements of Azymuth's late Maestro José Roberto Bertrami and the legendary Arthur Verocai amongst a host of other Brazilian musical icons. With a consistent stream of original modern disco sounds, the project has also played host to a series of remixes from some of dance music's greatest pioneers. FOMDO12 is the latest in this series, with fresh interpretations from Dego, Andres and Ben Hauke of the as yet unreleased 'Where Do We Go From Here'

Like 'Step Into My Life', which came out last year via two John Morales remixes, 'Where Do We Go From Here' is taken from the forthcoming second instalment of the Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra project. Check the first here:

A1 is Dego's 2000 Black remix. The broken beat innovator streamlines his sometimes more rugged sound, with the funk as priority. It's a sophisticated and irresistibly slick disco-house roller, reminiscent of his recent single for Neroli, 'Don't Stop (Let It Go)': with the same cross-genre appeal, a deep and deeply inviting groove, with Dego's signature swing.

A2 is a study in contrasts; Ben Hauke's take looks inward to find its feet, an intriguing riposte to Dego's open-arms welcome to the dancers. Organic rhythmic elements pile on top of each other, so loose and precariously balanced they seem to be perpetually on the verge of collapse. It's to Ben's credit that he pulls it off while showcasing a gifted ear for minor-key melody, with warm synths and piano notes taking his mix to another level. An essential slice of soulful, broken house, it effortlessly builds upon the tracks foundations, adding deeper, darker dimensions to the original's classy disco sound.

B1 is Andres' mix. It's got the touch of smooth Detroit class that we have come from to expect from him. Woozily silken keyboard chords work their way around an insistent bassline, the jazzy interplay perfectly offsetting the locked groove. The latter is a head-nodding house beat with a touch of boom-bap that belies Andres years of experience in the hip-hop world, most notably as Slum Village's resident DJ. Vibe-wise, it sits comfortably between Dego's sophisticated uptempo soul and Ben Hauke's downbeat late night groove. All three make for a stellar addition to The Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra remix roster, showcasing the many dimensions of their pioneering modern disco sound.

Jerome Derradji + Still Music are proud to present Let's Dance Records - Mike Macharello & Duane Thamm Jr. Chicago 1983-85. The origin of house music, at least in a commercial sense, is generally associated with young African American producers from Chicago's South Side, but one of the first Chicago house music labels was started by a young, white, gay DJ from the far west suburbs.
The Let's Dance story will take you back to the beginnings of Mike Macherello and Duane Thamm Jr. when Chicago's house music was in its infancy.
Back then, after starting as young roller disco Dj in the late seventies, Mike Macherello gradually made its way to the best radio station in 1981 - WBMX - and started a movement that still ripples through the city today. Let's Dance's founder, Mike Macharello, was a DJ who bridged diverse music scenes, from rock clubs to discos. The Let's Dance record label helped establish Chicago's dance music industry between 1983 and 1985, before becoming Play House Records (which will be reissued by Still Music in an upcoming set). Macharello's pal, DJ Duane Thamm Jr., also from the 'burbs, became the label's main producer and one of house music's most important studio engineers and producers. Mike and Duane went on to release a few legendary singles for Let's Dance that are still to this day considered to be the earliest House music records coming from Chicago.The 12' pack includes faithful reissues of Selenia's 'Single Girl', Duane Thamm Jr. 'Jump Trax', the insane Knight Action 'R-Trax/D-Rail' 12's along with a 5 tracks 12' compilation and an accompanying poster insert including rare pictures and artifacts with the story of the label.

The latest release on Roam Recordings comes from Mexican based rock techno fusion duo Zombies in Miami. Widely known for their deep, dark, and energetic live performances and their excellent productions on labels such as Correspondant, Cómeme, Love on The Rocks, and Hippie Dance, Zombies in Miami are the perfect fit for Roam Recordings. In the Primitive EP featured here Zombies in Miami bring two stunning originals that offer up both the light and the dark. The title track Primitive is a fun discofied tune with floating flutes, a cut up vocal, and a bassline full of bounce. Contrast that with Tizane that gets witchy right from the start with ethereal arps, ominous synth sweeps, and vocal chants that summon the dark spirits. Joining the EP is Jakarta-based artist Jonathan Kusuma who has previously released on I'm a Cliche, Love on the Rocks, Nein, and Machine Limited among others. In his remix of Tizane, Jonathan Kusuma strips down the original giving it a heavier drive with a methodical intention on the guitars and vocals while keeping the dark vibes alive. Taking on the remix of Primitive is Mexican dj/producer Mijo that has previously released on Correspondant, Sanfuentes, and Shara among others. Mijo's remix of Primitive brings the lasers with a welcomed quirky and hypnotic spin on the original. All four tracks come together to form a diverse EP that on one side is perfect to set the mood for a seance or dark club and the other for fun party vibes. The Primitive EP also marks the last EP of 2017 for Roam Recordings. Zombies in Miami, Jonathan Kusuma, and Mijo together bring a strong finish to an already big year for the label.

Famed actor and resident at the Schaubühne theatre in Berlin Lars Eidinger presents the reissue of his cult record I'll Break Ya Legg. Previously released as a 10' now expanded to a full length including four unreleased tracks.

LA disco balearic duo Poolside bring us a limited 12' featuring four Edits from Poolside including Delegation's soul classic Oh Honey' and Bohannon Save Their Souls. Poolside recently posted a mix tape entitled Contact High which included these edits and the band are just completing their new album, the follow up to the critically acclaimed debut "Pacific Standard Time"

Most of the time the intention of descriptive text is not to shed light on the work of the artist, but rather to serve as a promotional tool to drive sales and increase recognition. This often has the unfortunate result of limiting the creator and his work. Music is all we need, any other additives are completely dispensable.This project is an experiment.Only six artists are part of this project.The identity of the artists involved in the project will remain private but they are free to reveal their identity after some time, even if we would prefer they didn't (that is the reason we provide a special code in the back of each record) The artists involved in the project are not aware of the identity of the other artists.During the following 12 months we will periodically release 12 records: 11 x 12 and the last one, a special 7.Each record is a full album, a trip into the mind of the artist. Nao Katafuchi is a New York based Japanese artist. Nao's mini album is lost somewhere between the future and the past. All of the music was made using a semi modern groovebox, guitar, and voice. This musical combination created a new wave cyberpop atmosphere that would not be out of place in a bar in Liquid Sky, Blade Runner, or Total Recall.
