Rothmans are back with their first real milestone as a label and what better way to celebrate the labels 10th record than honouring the greatest no10 of all time Diego Armando Maradona Franco.

In their first 3 seasons Rothmans have developed a reputation for throwing us curve ball after curve ball, and in what has without doubt been their best season yet off the back of Roth 8's house slammer with Aimes & Brassica, to Roth 9's Acid Arab chug from Naduve & co, they have once again thrown another huge spanner in the works (feels like 1986 all over again)

The Diego Maradona EP comes from Brooklyn based producer Cale Parks. Better known in the New York music scene as a professional drummer Cale has recently turned his hand to producing and off the back of some fine releases on HAKT (Have A Killer Time) , he has now found his way onto the Rothmans Teamsheet.
Track 1 - The Big Bust sounds like something you might hear as the opening to an Apparat album , the sweeping synths and beautifully scored piano remind me of the first time I watched Maradona leave Beardsley and Reid for dead in the centre circle of the Azteca Stadium on a hot evening in Mexico City.
Track 2- 9G steps up the pace a bit with a much more attacking Piano sound and darker synths that remind me of watching Diego charge right past Terry Butcher and storm towards the goal on that fateful night in Mexico.

The record is finished off with a banging breakbeat sounding remix by the delectable Eddie C that almost replicates the same energy, and kick ,as Maradona steaming into the box and beating Shilton to score the greatest goal in World Cup history.

All we can say is that Rothmans have delivered another masterclass of their own.

Two Parisians, Ivan Smagghe and Tim Paris, exiled in London for the better part of the last ten year set out to re-define space. It's a fine line was born from non-restraint, cultivating its own vision of house music and disco, a paradoxical one, a non-functional one.

Their first LP (thought, rebuilt, announced, delayed) reveals itself as a collection of tests, of explorations in the shadows and corners of club culture. These are murky roads where counterfeit goes for gold standard, perfect territory to lose oneself in order to find ones way. Leaving behind the smooth highways of club music, they rode more chaotic trails, with dubious reputation or names: white funk, trance groove, electronic psychedelia, greasy, rock'n'roll... A risky path, ambivalent, proud of accidents, crashes and bad taste, but the only real way to discover virgin grounds on well-trodden terrain. They are writing their own (hi)story.

For this album, Tim and Ivan recruited three double agents, the flame of Alex Kapranos, singer of Franz Ferdinand, the mysterious voice of Olivia de Lanzac from cult band Quad Throw Salchow and the pitched down, spectre of label companion C.A.R. Three tweaked but prominent voices, joining in an album that confounds through the coherence of its eclecticism and the rigorous mirage of its style.

The Woodentops Why Why Why was in 1986 a floor filler In Ibiza played by DJ Alfredo and brought back to UK by the now super DJ's. It is for many DJ's, a career starter and pivotal record in the beginning of the club scene that gave us the Summer of Love in the mid to late 1980's. It was a live performance of a song played amongst electronic music in countless clubs around the globe.

Tonbe is back on his lovely label Disco Fruit with 4 new tunes, including one remix by well known Munich-based DJ and producer Alkalino. First tune on A side is Tonbe's powerful high-octane disco house tune with great bass guitar, clavinet and flute sections. This tune is definitely for the peak time wherever you play. Dalmata Daniel presents it's own second release from the Japan based producer 99LETTERS. His has been active for 8 years now and his several music came out on labels such as french house Série Limitée and british techno label Seagrave.His new material the 'Untold Future' is a hardware based, dynamic and solid four tracks EP which includes a dub version from 'Neo Life' by the young german newfound TRP, who's debut EP was released earlier this year by the lo-fi bearer Lobster Theremin.The A side contains two warm house jams with smooth ambience. As 'Neo Life' is like a solid deep dream, 'Untold Future' more drives you into a breezy floating new morning.Meanwhile on B side you'll find polished techno cuts. 'Cooper' comes with straight drums, hypnotic driven synths and bass-line and it's ready to heat up the floor. 'Neo Life TRP dub' is more like a reinterpretation from the original one, it's hazy, faster, and injected with acid hotness. Both of them were born to play out loud.

Kauf is a L.A.-based singer and composer of exquisite synth-heavy vocal backed scores. Fort Romeau is a House music producer from UK. One is remixing the other. The result couldn't be better: Music for Ballroom dancing and putting your greasy leather jacket over your tuxedo and wearing biker boots to a cocktail dress. Danish producer Uffe Christensen returns to Tartelet Records with his second LP 'No!', a deeply personal LP to follow 2015's unanimously unfuckwithable debut 'Radio Days'. Every bit as abundant as his first, it's a record that scales polyrhythmic percussion, improvised jazz, & billowing ballads. This, that and so much more, it's a triumph of one man's instinctive ear -- and should be consumed in one sitting.
A year after his dynamic debut 'Radio Days', Uffe resurfaces on Tartelet with a record cut in the same spirit as the last: a borderless approach to music-making with organic instrumentation at its heart. Genres collide peaceably --off-beat soul with jazz, hip-hop with the heft of house-- and are melded smooth with an earthy warmth. Like nearly all at camp Tartelet, he's a producer who is more interested in cutting loose than playing to the tune of dominant modes in dance music. In that, his album's title is instructive: a 'no' to the tyranny of trends; to slavish Facebook likes; to creative compromise. Beyond the babble of fleeting fads, Uffe enjoys his place on the perimeter -- an outlier searching critically for something closer to a timeless groove. Uffe has all of the intuition of the self-taught instrumentalist, following his ear into unexpected rhythmic and tonal combinations. It's what gives the album its urgent appeal: the sound of tentative experiments being made live; of sequences mprovised amongst friends. Far from a churn of simple floor fodder, the album is a journey through a consummate narrative. Shy guitar interlude 'Fridge Magnet Radio Theme' feels its way out of the warbling jazz breakdown in 'Lesser Known Values'. 'The Fact', an unexpected vocal ballad, follows the broken beat of 'Solo, So Loud'. With the record's pleading closer 'From Me', it's a story with a start, middle, and end. A long player as long players should be.
As Tartelet continue their run of consistently solid EPs & 12"s, it's still these album moments that remain the best gateways into the label's distinctive sound. Landing straight after 415-PR10, Public Release's first in a loose series of San Francisco-centric compilations, this three-track 12-inch is a further exploration of the Bay Area's sounds and aesthetics, though here it's explored via remixes produced by friends from abroad.The A-side is a complete overhaul, reimagining, and extension of Anonstop's 'Seaside' by Thee Loving Hand, Tim Goldsworthy's solo moniker of choice these days. The ex-DFA Records co-founder and former member of UNKLE took the tune's Balearic foundation and used it as a bed for what one might mistake as a lost Arthur Russell cut from the World of Echo era. Joel Wells lent his airy, light, sweet vocals to the track, while Darren Morris added synth work to bolster Tim's usual production genius. It's carefree and emotive, the aural equivalent of a big, toothy smile.The flip features a mix that's a whole helluva lot more intense and uptempo, though no less positive than it's original. Chida's remix of 'Domination' is squarer and housier than Be´zier's piece, which was glitzy classic disco dunked in Italo, but enough of it remains to be unmistakably a spinoff. Fiery and propulsive in the way a Gulfstream jet is, it's a ball of thunder that will electrify any set, any dance floor.

London-based producer, visual artist and NTS Radio host Kit Grill has announced a new 5-track EP, titled Westway and set for release on 7th October via his own Primary Colours imprint. The EP will be available digitally along with a limited run of 200 vinyl copies designed by Alex Sullivan, with cover photography by Grill and an accompanying video by London director Laurie Lynch.

Westway draws on Grill's personal experiences of living in a cityscape and echoes the industrial, fast-paced and repetitive rhythm of his home city, London. The EP was recorded over the course of several months from early 2015 to February of this year, the propulsive beats and driving, shimmering synthwork across tracks like 'Distance' and 'Street Runner' inspired by and echoing the Brutalist beauty of the capital, culminating in the euphoric, widescreen string flourishes of closing track 'Stairway'.

Kit Grill's output spans across music, photography, painting and video. After graduating from Chelsea College of Art and Design, he spent the next two years experimenting with sound and studying music. In 2013 he released his first EP Expressions on Primary Colours, and later that year a full studio album Mirror Image was released through the GetMe! label.

The Independent hailed Grill a minimalist master' and he saw further praise from the likes of Boiler Room, XLR8R and Jacques Greene, who told Dummy, "If I had to compare Kit Grill to other artists, the more musical side of Steve Reich's work and Koreless immediately come to mind. But I'd rather simply enjoy his music as this one solid argument for minimalism amongst all that busy noise." Grill produced a video to accompany the track 'Velodrome' using found footage from the 1980 Moscow Olympics, which gained widespread recognition.

The Europe EP was released in 2015 with original artwork by Grill, followed by Paradise, which showcased a new direction in sound, mixing '80s new wave with modern classical influences. The breadth of influences across his own productions is something Kit explores in his monthly Sunday show on NTS, playing an eclectic range of music from around the world including jazz, avant garde, modern classical, ambient, techno, house, new wave, disco and everything in-between.

Neville Watson makes his DBA debut proper after appearing on Special Editions in 2013 with four rave-ready belters. Thaddeus Nelson Jr is a bassist, vocalist and producer born and raised and based in New York City. After quitting his job at a bowling alley in Times Square, Thaddeus Nelson Jr composed new-day disco and midnight anthems for his cheekily-christened Dance Record. New Zealand based crate digger Frank Booker invites good friend Julien Dyne to drop the second release on his new imprint Down In the Basement.
JD picks up where The Man Called Booker left off on Vol 1 and gets straight up to speed cutting up rare boogie, disco and Afro jams and employing his trademark raw cuts in an old school style, while lacing oodles of FX 'n stuff into the mix.
The overall sound is reminiscent of the early Idjut Boys material, which is so close to Mr Booker's heart.

Africa is not a country. We in the West often refer to "African music" but what is that exactly It could be myriad, almost unimaginably different forms of music that bear little relation to each other, as after all Africa is a vast continent that is larger than the United States, Australia and the whole of Europe combined. These four tracks showcase some of those different forms of music from across the continent. There is some cosmic synth drenched proto-house, an afro-beat call to arms, a hypnotic JuJu workout and a rough and ready, relentless lo fi West African banger. All proceeds will go to Human Rights Justice Group, Nigeria.

The debut release of Aspecto Humano, label based in Barcelona, is being presented as a sampler composed of five tracks, which clearly shows the label's preferences and what to be found in the future.The first track is the new version of Das Ding's classic 'H.S.T.A.', a jewel that has not been pressed on vinyl to date. Follows 'Extraterrestrial Biological Entity', a killer track made by master of horror Antoni Maiovvi, and finish the side Hyboid with his well known synthwave 'Telepath or Psycopath'. On the other side the debut of part of Aspecto Humano founders, Anbau, with their kraftwerkian 'Disco Z'. Ends the reference Synth Alien, one of the most reputated spanish artists at the moment, focused to burn the dancefloor with his 'Bailarina 'Autom·tica'.

Akamady imprint owner Komodo has been one of the leading figures developing the music scene in Jakarta, creating bridges with 'The Land of The Rising Sun's' music heritage. Magic Hour is the evocative name of his latest work for Cocktail d'Amore music. It takes us to a beach party from sunset to sunrise, barefoot in the sand. The title track is an ode to balearic and piano house ruling around long pads and dusty baselines. The Backwoods proudly contributes to the package with a more straightforward restyling. The melodic elements shrink melting in the rhythmical structure. The feel is deep and comforting resulting in a psychedelic illusion. On the flip Lizard Dance is a breakbeat referencing the UK leftfield scene of the 90's. Mystical synth-lines develop through the track projecting the whole composition toward the sky. Sand Dunes is a track for late night dance floors. Here Komodo plays with a gloomy atmosphere and psychedelic
acid-tinged synth lines, the listener is suddenly projected into a crime scene.

P-SOL kicks the b side off by reworking, arranging & dubbing the Barbara Roy And Ecstasy disco classic, "If You Want Me" while still keeping the integrity of the original track.

Following PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED - the critically-acclaimed run of nine 12' vinyl EPs released this summer over 9 weeks by Trevor Jackson's much loved PLAYGROUP - a Limited Edition Double CD (and Digital Album) of highlights from the vinyl will be released on December 2nd, via Yes Wave records. The music featured is a collection of reworked demos and unreleased recordings. A hedonistic mix of raw Disco, Dub, Funk, Electro, New Wave & Post Punk that still sound as relevant today as they did when initially recorded for the debut PLAYGROUP album during 1997 - 2001. The sold out run of 'PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED' vinyl has been supported by numerous DJs including Four Tet, James Murphy, Gilles Peterson, John Talabot, Optimo, Pedro Winter, Heidi & Laurent Garnier. Several of the tracks were freshly re-edited and tweaked with the assistance of Sasha Crnobrnja from In Flagranti. Ed DMX lends a helping hand on one track, two feature the vocals of Mike Z from the seminal new wave band Crash Course In Science, and a young Kieran Hebden (AKA Four Tet) plays guitar on the album's final number.

I started writing demos for what eventually became the Playgroup album at the start of 1997, after an extensive period producing recording and remixing dark hip hop based tracks as The Underdog. I consciously wanted to move in a different direction combining influences from my youth along with inspirations from the foundations of club music, that were barely written about seriously in the mainstream media at the time', explains Trevor. Inspired by the hedonistic early days of house, disco, post punk, no wave, electro and dub, these tracks reflect a unique moment in time. The emergence of underground club culture in New York, London, Chicago, Paris and Northern Italy was driven by pioneering DJs playing a wildly diverse soundtrack to a passionate, dance driven and open minded audience. A sensory overload of chemicals, bass, smoke, sweat, sex and danger, a testament to the non-air conditioned, non-i-Phone infested and non- corporate clubbing days of yore.'

PLAYGROUP'S self-titled debut album was released on the Virgin affiliated Source label back in 2001, then re-issued on Trevor's own Output recordings label in 2003. Rolling Stone described perfect incandescent pop funk' whilst XLR8R dubbed it a concept album that does that rare thing - actually delivers'. Featuring Kathleen Hanna, Peaches, Gonzales, Edwyn Collins, KC Flightt, Rowettea, Roddy Frame, Dennis Bovell and Shinehead, the album played a key part in the rediscovery of modern dance music's foundations rooted in the 80's underground - something that still powerfully reverberates today.

Trevor Jackson has been working at the forefront of audio and visual culture for over 20 years. The London based Creative Director, moving-image maker, producer and DJ's work includes countless classic record covers, and has been exhibited at prestigious international galleries/museums like the ICA, the Barbican, and the Guggenheim. Jackson's iconic Output Recordings label ran from 1996-2006 and helped launch the careers of Four Tet and LCD Soundsystem. Trevor has released a released a 'DJ Kicks' album for !K7 and produced/remixed Metronomy, Massive Attack, U2, The Cure, Tiga, Run DMC, Soft Cell and Dinos Chapman. He has created award-winning artwork for Soulwax, been commissioned to create audio visual works for major brands like BMW, Lexus and Coca Cola, and continues to work as an art director, designer and film maker - most recently for XL recordings signing POWELL and US beat-maker Clams Casino.

The Saint Petersburg-based DJ duo Gradient Logic has released a new EP on vinyl with producer Milos Dordevic, better known by his stage name Tonbe.
Their first cooperation brought four digital tracks released by Disco Fruit Records in January 2016.
The repertoire on their new EP is varied without losing the characteristic of Gradient Logic's disco-groove.
"I Want You Slide" is an energetic track trembling with the chords of a killer bass-guitar.
"Talk About" has a summer feel to it with vocals that invite you to the dance floor and a beat that makes you want to move.
"Far Away" with its electric beats takes you far away from ordinary life and brings you into a party mood the way only a good summer track does.
"Feel Me" is a skillfully cut slow track pleasing as lounge music and catering for unhurried dancing.

Chapter Edits is the brainchild of Scott Gray AKA Chapter (artist and DJ) and Corbi (producer, DJ and A&R at Fina Records) with the aim being to bring art and music together by releasing disco-funk re-edits in limited edition Chapter art sleeves. The first 50 of each release will be signed, numbered and stamped for extra exclusivity. We finished 2015 with a six-track jumbo EP from Borrowed Identity and thought we'd repeat the same trick for 2016, though this time with originals from Okayama-based producer Keita Sano.
EYE begins with Keep an Eye Out, Pt. 2,' a propulsive song that sounds like a lost contender for the Knight Rider theme. Own Signal' keeps things dark, but with a spartan bleakness. The side finishes with Smoker,' another manic cut that'll give you chills.
The flip finds Keita exploring brighter sounds without losing that industrial, jagged edge. TRMK' is essentially a beat track that'll ignite any dance floor and Fix' is a herky-jerky ditty that'll get you stomping around the club like a possessed reveler. The 12''s cherry on top is Think Twice,' a funky ass-shaker that centers around a crackly sample of crowd noise, a chopped-up disco vocal, and bouncy bass. A fiery finale for this hedonistic party.

"It's party time tonight!" - NYC Mix maestro Mike Maurro has turned in a storming, 14+ minute version of Patrick Adams' classic "Weekend" by Phreek, a true blue club classic from 1978 (Later covered by Class Action, sampled by Todd Terry etc) "Weekend" was an absolutely huge Paradise Garage staple getting unlimited spins from Larry Levan during the club's lifespan, the definition of a "Garage" record indeed. Maurro's new mix rearranges and deconstructs the original version with so much style, respect and feeling, using unheard synth vamps, string sections, percussions and breakdowns pushing it into a whole new direction while retaining the feel of the original mix. Seminal early 70's Bahamian Funk of the highest order! The debut LP from the Munnings brothers legendary outfit. "Funky Nassau" is one of the most sought after Soul/Funk records ever with it's highly original blend of US black music styles and Bahamian roots. A very famous band in their native Nassau, the group only had 2 full length albums under their belts along with a slew of 45 singles but have managed to stamp their name on the ears and minds of record lovers since they first burst onto the scene. For his first outing on NAAR, Eric Duncan presents us with Shut it, a full bore Techno-Disco Work out, complimented by an altogether more Cosmic yet Tribal remix from living legend Daniel Baldelli, alongside production partner Marco Dionig. On the B side you will find Zona De Perigo, which is a compelling mongrel affair showcasing a Drug Chug rhythm with a New Age feel, and melodies that border on the Anatolian, before breaking in to a satisfyingly arpeggiated conclusion.

Chord Memory! The hymn for the widely used feature in 80s hardware synthesizers got some individual rewiring done. If ten fingers ain't enough Hyboid uses his Galactic Memory for punchy disco purposes while Robyrt Hecht reaches for a swinging Pivot Memory to sweep and swipe your electro habits. On the other hand Milium likes the exposed wires of his Mutiny Memory to revolt whereas CCO simulates his natural Echoic Memory with floating acid sparks. Completing the mechanical rewiring the duo Nachtzug added delicate software to Execute the algorithms and installed a Memory Loss button, if you are in need of a reset.

The second Phalanx release is called "Lost In Your Eyes". The track is composed and arranged by Joey Mauro and sound engineered and mixed by Laurent Gelmetti, who has been mixing and sound engineering the most of the Aleph tracks in the 80s. "Lost In Your Eyes" vinyl has four different mixes from this powerful track, which has the same energy as the Aleph tracks had in the past. The male vocals belong to Terence Holler and the female vocalist is Clara Moroni, also familiar name from the 80s Time Records productions.

The term Cosmic classic has been banded around increasingly in the last decade, with its modern disco retake, thankfully, soon running out of steam. However, in Michael Chapman's Lescudjack we see the genius of Daniele Baldelli in finding obscure records that do not fit the traditional dance floor and making them work. So how does a former art and photography teacher turned singer-songwriter from the 60s folk scene end up making a discernable leftfield track that was a underground hit in the late 70s Italian club scene After a series of successful albums for the Harvest label, things started to change tack when Chapman signed for Decca and released the 1973 Milestone Grit album. Mixing his oft-gloomy writing with some lively instrumentals, this semi-experimental work was a sign of things to come.
By the time he released the Life On The Ceiling album in 1978 a pattern had emerged. The fact one such instrumental was then chosen for release a year later as a 7' and subsequent limited 12' was all the more surprising. Here then Lescudjack finds it's way to the infamous Mr Baldelli and it's place in the Cosmic greatest list and it's easy to hear why, with the Celtic influenced acoustic and electronic guitar interplay riding atop an almost rudimentary mid-tempo phased electro-beat and claps.
Derived from the Celtic words for shielded stronghold, the roots of the song are apparent, however, by utilising a modern electronic backing track, the song becomes something else altogether.
At just over 2 minutes long this oft-kilter guitar cut was always ripe for reworking and who better than DJ and producer Lexx to provide an extended edit. Almost doubling the length, loops, echo and fx push the original higher, meeting modern DJ needs while respectively allowing Chapman's brilliant playing to remain at it's heart.

Scotland's foremost (possibly only) disco obsessive returns with a fourth volume in the critically acclaimed Disco Love series. Previous volumes had critics saying things like Some of it is risqué, cheesy and (may I say) sexy. Great stuff for us disco-geeks' and A real gem for the disco connoisseurs' and This will enhance any deep disco collection' and the ever-reliable Glaswegian crate digger unearths even more dusty gems' and Just when you think that Al Kent guy is not going to get you again, he assembles a third Disco Love that is more stimulating than the first two volumes' and, less excitingly, The mastering and sound quality is great'.

So, just when you think that Al Kent guy isn't going to get you again, here he is - with fifteen more obscure disco tracks (or at the very least soul records you could dance to), most of which were pressed in limited quantities before sinking without trace, including five very special edited and extended versions and a DJ mixed second CD.

After a hiatus of 11 years it appears Monkeyshop are using the Vivod portal for their current works, this being their 2nd ep for Ali Renault's imprint. Title track Island of Love is a melodious sprawling opus perfect for keeping the summer vibes going all year round and takes the whole of side A. Side B has 2 more cuts. Well over a decade has passed since the birth of Dedication, Mikey Yamada and Felix Dickinson's collaborative band. The project was born way back in 2005, during one of Dickinson's frequent DJing trips to the Far East. While staying in Japan, the Cynic Records boss found himself in Yamada's studio, alongside new friend Tsuyoshi Kosuga (a bassist and guitarist most famous for his work as part of Cro-Magnon), and arpenter-turned-keyboard wizard Botch. The name Dedication
was borrowed from the clothing brand Yamada had been eveloping for some time. Felix took the recording of that frst session back to the UK, where Kyle Chandler (his partner in Foolish and Sly) added some vocals. That track, 'It's A edication' was released on Cutting Edge in Japan the following year.
Since then, Dedication material has slipped out frustratingly infrequently, a refection of the occasional nature of their recording sessions. Aside from a high profle - and well received - 12' on DFA in 2014 ('I Ain't Gonna Tell You', which was backed with a scorching rework by DJ Kaos), the outft's output has been limited to a handful of tracks on hard-to-fnd compilations. Here, two of those in-demand compilation cuts appear on 12' for the frst time, via Claremont 56, the long-running label operated by Dickinson's old friend Paul 'Mudd' Murphy. On the A you'll fnd the sublime 'Let Me Rock You', a track that frst emerged on Jason
Kincade's Mangiami collection, a tribute to the legendary NYC bar-turned-midweek party venue of the same name. Tactile, groovy and emotion-rich, the track sounds like a long lost,
late '80s remix by Frankie Knuckles - perhaps the Godfather of House's legendary reworks of Womack & Womack's 'Missing Persons Bureau', and Chaka Khan's 'Ain't Nobody' - with
Botch's fuid piano solos recalling the similarly superb work of Satoshi Tomie. It's little less than a dreamy, wide-eyed dancefoor hug. On the fip you'll fnd 'Pito Deep', a track named after a deep underwater trench that was recorded after Dedication's band members swapped instruments. Powered by a headline-
grabbing synth bassline, tidal guitar fourishes, crunchy Clav lines and spacey synth solos, the track has been in demand since it frst appeared on Mule Music's CD-only The Defnitive Japanese Scene compilation way back in 2009. Finally, this winding chunk of deep disco brilliance has fnally made it to wax.

NYC's legendary SAM Records dropped the mysteriously named K.I.D.'s "Don't Stop" in 1981. It has it all - Trancey arpeggios, Vocoders & vocals trading off with each other, Brass & some heavyweight Disco drums that helped propel it forth into the hallowed category of "club classic". The record perfectly suited the open minds and open ears of discerning disc jocks in locales such as New York and Chicago where this sublime piece of electronic Disco sleaze would get plenty burn on the city's infamous WBMX thus having a huge impact, along with a whole host of other similar records, on the burgeoning house scene that was germinating in the fertile mid western soil. "B-Side" cut "Do It Again" is a pleasant enough early 80's Disco jam, but compared to the futuristic burner that is "Don't Stop" on the other side there's one clear winner. A must have for all Cosmic, Disco, Funk aficionados. Now made available again, legitimately licensed, remastered and reissued in conjunction with SAM Records New York City.

The long fabled 'Elisabetta' project, conceived by Giuseppe Alcheri, scored by Marco Segreti and eventually cancelled entirely by shady producers has long been lamented by fans of Italian Cinema and Disco aficionados alike. 'Elisabetta' was to be a return to Alcheri's erotic thriller roots after (what some may consider talent wasted in) the Euro-Crime genre of the late 70s. Though, despite the predictable trappings of previous efforts, Alcheri's flair for stylised dramatics and profound statements on the human condition bubbled under the surface, even in films such as Legge Rotto' and Sono Unica Difesa di Questa Città', but it was the melancholic power of early hits such as Angelo Della Pelle' or Pianto Vergine' that serious fans were crying out for. All of which was to be delivered with 'Elisabetta' which promised to be his most ambitious and emotional film in years. Concerning a writer driven to suicide by a lost love, told mostly through typewriter monologues, conversations with Little Grey', a pigeon and late night cruises through the discotheques of the mid 1980s, 'Elisabetta' was to be an epic poem on the nature of love and fidelity, sadly lost much like the lover in the film. Marco Segreti's credentials should need no introduction, originally the drummer and leader of Bruciando Roma' a group of anarcho-session musicians, playing on many 70s disco hits, the synthesizer revolution of the 1980s allowed him to break out into independence. Dripping with vintage reverbs and mourning melodies, the soundtrack, presented here for the first time ever is all that remains of this remarkable project. Restored from the original tapes by Ruud Lekx. This essential, obscure masterpiece is not to be missed.

Maintaining the focus firmly on the underground and keeping that no-frills party vibe running throughout their output, Music Is Love keep things flowing at a steady pace with their 12th release. Dedicated to continually curating original ideas, the premise behind MIL012 is all about the label paying homage to their most prominent musical influences. Leading the way behind the new concept entitled Tribute, head-honcho Oli Furness teams up with one of his favourite producers - Chicago house legend Paul Johnson - for a four track EP, with two tracks from either producer intended to highlight the impact of Johnson's impact and influence as an artist.
Paul Johnson has been a staple of house music over the past 20 years, and has long been a revered DJ and producer known for his distinctive rhythm and soulful sounds. Continuing with his penchant for up-front house music, Johnson kicks off the EP with Movin Baby. A stomping 4/4 beat marches over an intermittent vocal grab, while 90s afflicted key chords flourish steadily on top of trailing drum sequences to give a predatory rhythm with a solid dance-floor focus.
I'm A Freak follows up, infused with the sort of unreserved energy that has characterised Johnson's music over the years. A solid train-track house groove built from only the sparest of elements kicks things off, before a hypnotic vocal prevails over incessant percussive slices, a wubbing sub bass and thick melodic tones, racing alongside the flecked groove for five minutes of deliciously locked-in pleasure.
Irresistible, stripped-back grooves are clearly a preoccupation for Furness, who delivers more heavy-hitting house in the form of Gurl and Nightclub Romance. Gurl is characterised by crisp, clean percussion sequences, snapping snares and an entrancing male vocal that coheres rhythmically over the cowbell and marching drum combo.
Laying the focus on a classic house aesthetic with acid-fused textures, Nightclub Romance finishes off this well-crafted EP. Acidy stabs and shuffling drums coerce against a flurry of hi-hats and sporadic, dubbed vocal murmurs to give a stomping groove aimed squarely at the dance floor; its unadulterated, primitive authenticity make it the type of track that would have worked just as well in the 90s as it would have today, a testament to the thematic style of the whole EP.
